1The mass-balance characteristics and sensitivities to climate variables of Laohugou Glacier No.12,western Qilian Mountains,China显示文摘Due to global warming, glaciers on the Tibetan Plateau(TP) are experiencing widespread shrinkage; however, the mechanisms controlling glacier variations across the TP are still rather unclear, especially on the northeastern TP. In this study, a physically based, distributed surface-energy and mass-balance model was used to simulate glacier mass balance forced by meteorological data. The model was applied to Laohugou No. 12 Glacier, western Qilian Mountains, China, during2010~2012. The simulated albedo and mass balance were validated and calibrated by in situ measurements. The simulated annual glacier-wide mass balances were-385 mm water equivalent(w.e.) in 2010/2011 and-232 mm w.e. in 2011/2012,respectively. The mean equilibrium-line altitude(ELA) was 5,015 m a.s.l., during 2010~2012, which ascended by 215 m compared to that in the 1970 s. The mean accumulation area ratio(AAR) was 39% during the two years. Climatic-sensitivity experiments indicated that the change of glacier mass balance resulting from a 1.5 °C increase in air temperature could be offset by a 30% increase in annual precipitation. 2Potential Effect of Black Carbon on Glacier Mass Balance during the Past 55 Years of Laohugou Glacier No. 12, Western Qilian Mountains显示文摘This study reconstructed the annual mass balance(MB)of Laohugou Glacier No.12 in the western Qilian Mountains during 1961–2015.The annual MB was calculated based on a temperature-index and an accumulation model with inputs of daily air temperature and precipitation recorded by surrounding meteorological stations.The model was calibrated by in-situ MB measurements conducted on the glacier during 2010–2015.Change in constructed annual MB had three phases.During Phase Ⅰ(1961-1984),glacier-wide MB values were slightly positive with an average MB of 24±276 mm w.e.(water equivalent).During Phase Ⅱ(1984-1995),the MB values became slightly negative with an average MB of?50±276 mm w.e..The most negative MB values were found during Phase Ⅲ(1996–2015),with an average MB of?377±276 mm w.e.Climatic analysis showed that the warming led to accelerated glacier mass loss despite a persistent increase of precipitation during the analysis period.However,an increase of black carbon deposited on the glacier surface since the 1980s could have contributed to intensified glacier melt.From simulations and measurements of MB on the Urumqi Glacier No.1,26%of glacier melt caused by black carbon could be identified.Jizu Chen Xiang Qin Shichang Kang Wentao Du Weijun Sun Yushuo Liu 2020Journal of Earth Science2020,31,2:4
3The movement features analysis of Laohugou Glacier No.12 in Qilian Mountains显示文摘The Laohugou Glacier No.12 is the largest valley glacier in Qilian Mountains,which is located in northern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.Movement is the basic characteristic of glaciers,and is also an important distinction from other terrestrial natural ice.Glacier changes not only reflect climate change,but also play an important role in humanity society.In the arid regions of western China,glaciers are becoming an important water source.We use the GPS receiver (South-Lingrui S82) as data platform with the aid of RTK measurement technology to observe the surface velocity of Laohugou Glacier No.12.Surface velocity data shows that the maximum value appears at an altitude of 4,750-4,850 m during the period of 2008-2009.During this period,the west branch surface velocity reached 32.6 m per year at an altitude near 4,830 m,the east branch surface velocity reached 32.4 m per year at the altitude near 4,770 m.Comparing the surface velocity data during 2008-2009 with observation results in 1959,the glacier velocity slowed down about 11%.YuShuo Liu Xiang Qin WenTao Du WeiJun Sun DianJiong Hou 2011Research in Cold and Arid Regions2011,3,2:3
4Effects of initial particle gradation and rock content on crushing behaviors of weathered phyllite fills——A case of eastern Ankang section of Shiyan—Tianshui highway,China显示文摘The objective of this paper is to investigate the effects of initial particle gradation and rock content on the crushing behavior(i.e.grain size before and after crushing) of weathered phyllite fills.Compaction tests were conducted on weathered phyllite fills with rock contents of 35%,45%,55%,65% and 75%(by weight).First,the particle size distributions(PSDs) were observed before and after compaction,and then the particle breakage of weathered phyllite fills was analyzed by fractal dimension.Relative fractal dimension was proposed to evaluate the effects of initial rock content and initial gradation on the particle breakage.It was found that the fractal dimension method can well characterize the crushing behaviors of the weathered phyllite fills.The finer the fills were,the more they were compacted.That is,after the first compaction,the relative fractal dimension of the weathered phyllite fills increased as the rock content increased,reaching the values of 0.013,0.016,0.024,0.037 and 0.08,respectively.After the second compaction,these relative fractal dimension values,dominated by the initial particle gradation,became 0.059,0.072,0.052,0.095 and 0.118,respectively.In conclusion,the weathered phyllite fills with 55% rock content exhibited the least breakage and were most suitable for filling the subgrade.Findings in this paper will provide significant guidance for the construction of weathered phyllite filling subgrade in future projects.Feifei Liu Xuesong Mao Yushuo Fan Linping Wu Wei Victor Liu 2020Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2020,12,2:2
5Determination of Volatile Constituents,Total Flavonoids and Total Polysaccharides in the Roots of Artemisia argyi Levl. et Van. var.argyi cv. Qiai显示文摘[Objectives] To analyze the volatile components,the contents of total flavonoids and total polysaccharides of the roots of Artemisia argyi Levl. et Van. var. argyi cv. Qiai,and to provide a scientific basis for the comprehensive development and utilization of the resources.[Methods]The volatile components of the roots were extracted by solid phase micro-extraction( SPME),and its volatile components were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry( GC-MS); the contents of total flavonoids and total polysaccharides in the samples were measured by UV-spectrophotometry. [Results] 44 peaks were isolated from the roots and 30 components were identified,accounting for 80. 9% of the total volatile components; the content of total flavonoids in the roots was 9. 42%; the content of total polysaccharides in the roots was 11. 05%.[Conclusions] After a comprehensive investigation,the olefins in the roots generally have antibacterial activity,the contents of the total flavonoids and total polysaccharides contained in the roots were relatively high,the roots of Artemisia argyi do have broad prospects for the development.Min GONG Jinqing LU Yushuo XIAO Jiamin MENG Jingling HUANG Mengfei LIU Jiaxuan XIA Yi ZHOU 2017Medicinal Plant2017,8,6:1
6The change of Ningchan River Glacier No. 3 at Lenglongling, east Qilian Mountain, China显示文摘In July,2009,we investigated the Ningchan River Glacier No.3.A control network was established around the glacier and the expedition used a GPS-RTK to measure glacial area,terminal and surface altitude,and used an EKKO GPR to measure glacier thickness.We used a topographic map based on 1972 aerial photo,two TM images in 1995,2009,and GPS-RTK data in 2009,to analyze the change of the Ningchan River Glacier No.3 since 1972.Through analysis we found this glacier has been seriously shrinking over the past 37 years.The glacier terminal retreated about 6%,the area was reduced about13.1%,the volume was reduced about 35.3%,and glacier shrinkage is mainly in the form of thinning.Glacier average thickness reduced from 36.8 m in 1972,to 27.4 m in 2009.Meteorological data around the study area shows that this region in recent decades has undergone differential warming which is the main reason for rapid glacier shrinkage.YuShuo Liu Xiang Qin Tong Zhang MingJie Zhang WenTao Du 2013Research in Cold and Arid Regions2013,5,6:0
7Changes of glacier area in the Xiying River Basin, East Qilian Mountain, China显示文摘The Xiying River,one of eight tributaries of the Shiyang River,located at Lenglongling,east Qilian Mountain,is formed by the confluence of Luotuo,Qingyang,Ningchan,and Shuiguan rivers.In the Xiying River Basin,where have 42 glaciers which toward NE in the majority.In this study,three Landsat images and two topographic maps were used to extract boundaries by artificial vector quantization.Results show that glacier area in Xiying Basin increased slightly around 1987,since then,has been reduced considerably.From 1956/1972 to 2008,glacier area in Xiying River Basin was reduced by20.76%,nine glaciers have disappeared,and below 4,100 m a.s.l.,there is no ice cover.Variation tendency of glacier retreat was obviously controlled by orientation.Temperature increase especially after 1987 is the main reason of glacier shrinkage,where glaciers in the Xiying River Basin are more sensitive to climate change.YuShuo Liu Xiang Qin WenTao Du 2017Research in Cold and Arid Regions2017,9,5:0
8SIZHD17 is involved in the control of chlorophyll and carotenoid metabolism in tomato fruit显示文摘Chlorophylls and carotenoids are essential and bene fi cial substances for both plant and human health.Identifying the regulatory network of these pigments is necessary for improving fruit quality.In a previous study,we identi fi ed an R2R3-MYB transcription factor,SlMYB72,that plays an important role in chlorophyll and carotenoid metabolism in tomato fruit.Here,we demonstrated that the SlMYB72-interacting protein SlZHD17,which belongs to the zinc-fi nger homeodomain transcription factor family,also functions in chlorophyll and carotenoid metabolism.Silencing SIZHD 17 in tomato improved multiple bene fi cial agronomic traits,including dwar fi sm,accelerated fl owering,and earlier fruit harvest.More importantly,downregulating SIZHD17 in fruits resulted in larger chloroplasts and a higher chlorophyll content.Dual-luciferase,yeast one-hybrid and electrophoretic mobility shift assays clari fi ed that SlZHD17 regulates the chlorophyll biosynthesis gene SIPOR-B and chloroplast developmental regulator SITKN2 in a direct manner.Chlorophyll degradation and plastid transformation were also retarded after suppression of SIZHD17 in fruits,which was caused by the inhibition of SISGR1,a crucial factor in chlorophyll degradation.On the other hand,the expression of the carotenoid biosynthesis genes SIPSY1 and SIZISO was also suppressed and directly regulated by SlZHD17,which induced uneven pigmentation and decreased the lycopene content in fruits with SIZHD17 suppression at the ripe stage.Furthermore,the protein-protein interactions between SlZHD17 and other pigment regulators,including SlARF4,SlBEL11,and SlTAGL1,were also presented.This study provides new insight into the complex pigment regulatory network and provides new options for breeding strategies aiming to improve fruit quality.Yuan Shi Xiaoqin Pang Wenjing Liu Rui Wang Deding Su Yushuo Gao Mengbo Wu Wei Deng Yudong Liu Zhengguo Li 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:0
