1Developing plate tectonics theory from oceanic subduction zones to collisional orogens显示文摘Crustal subduction and continental collision is the core of plate tectonics theory. Understanding the formation and evolution of continental collision orogens is a key to develop the theory of plate tectonics. Different types of subduction zones have been categorized based on the nature of subducted crust. Two types of collisional orogens, i.e. arc-continent and continent-continent collisional orogens, have been recognized based on the nature of collisional blocks and the composition of derivative rocks. Arc-continent collisional orogens contain both ancient and juvenile crustal rocks, and reworking of those rocks at the post-collisional stage generates magmatic rocks with different geochemical compositions. If an orogen is built by collision between two relatively old continental blocks, post-collisional magmatic rocks are only derived from reworking of the old crustal rocks. Collisional orogens undergo reactivation and reworking at action of lithosphere extension, with inheritance not only in the tectonic regime but also in the geochemical compositions of reworked products(i.e., magmatic rocks). In order to unravel basic principles for the evolution of continental tectonics at the post-collisional stages, it is necessary to investigate the reworking of orogenic belts in the post-collisional regime, to recognize physicochemical differences in deep continental collision zones, and to understand petrogenetic links between the nature of subducted crust and post-collisional magmatic rocks. 2Continental subduction channel processes: Plate interface interaction during continental collision显示文摘The study of subduction-zone processes is a key to development of the plate tectonic theory.Plate interface interaction is a basic mechanism for the mass and energy exchange between Earth’s surface and interior.By developing the subduction channel model into continental collision orogens,insights are provided into tectonic processes during continental subduction and its products.The continental crust,composed of felsic to mafic rocks,is detached at different depths from subducting continental lithosphere and then migrates into continental subduction channel.Part of the subcontinental lithospheric mantle wedge,composed of peridotite,is offscrapped from its bottom.The crustal and mantle fragments of different sizes are transported downwards and upwards inside subduction channels by the corner flow,resulting in varying extents of metamorphism,with heterogeneous deformation and local anatexis.All these metamorphic rocks can be viewed as tectonic melanges due to mechanical mixing of crust-and mantle-derived rocks in the subduction channels,resulting in different types of metamorphic rocks now exposed in the same orogens.The crust-mantle interaction in the continental subduction channel is realized by reaction of the overlying ancient subcontinental lithospheric mantle wedge peridotite with aqueous fluid and hydrous melt derived from partial melting of subducted continental basement granite and cover sediment.The nature of premetamorphic protoliths dictates the type of collisional orogens,the size of ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic terranes and the duration of ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism.ZHENG YongFei ZHAO ZiFu CHEN YiXiang 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,35:54

5Age and genesis of the Shagou River terraces in eastern Qi-lian Mountains显示文摘The fluvial terrace sequence in eastern Qilian Mountains is a record of periodic uplift events of the Tibetan Plateau. Based on paleomagnetic dating, thermolumines-cence dating, radio carbon dating and loess-paleosol sequence on terraces, we preliminarily determine the ages of five major terraces of the Shagou River, northern side of the Qilian Mountains. The ages of five terraces were about 830, 418, 250,140 and 10 ka, respectively. Analysis on characteristics of terraces show that five major terraces were mainly tectonic genesis. Therefore, five major terraces recorded five strong rising events in the Qilian Mountains during the past 830 ka. The ages of those rising events are about the same as those terraces formation. 6Cardioprotective mechanism of SGLT2 inhibitor against myocardial infarction is through reduction of autosis显示文摘Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2(SGLT2)inhibitors reduce cardiovascular mortality in patients with diabetes mellitus but the protective mechanism remains elusive.Here we demonstrated that the SGLT2 inhibitor,Empagliflozin(EMPA),suppresses cardiomyocytes autosis(autophagic cell death)to confer cardioprotective effects.Using myocardial infarction(Ml)mouse models with and without diabetes mellitus,EMPA treatment significantly reduced infarct size,and myocardial fibrosis,thereby leading to improved cardiac function and survival.In the context of ischemia and nutritional glucose deprivation where autosis is already highly stimulated,EMPA directly inhibits the activity of the Na^(+)/H^(+)exchanger 1(NHE1)in the cardiomyocytes to regulate excessive autophagy.Knockdown of NHE1 significantly rescued glucose deprivation-induced autosis.In contrast,overexpression of NHE1 aggravated the cardiomyocytes death in response to starvation,which was effectively rescued by EMPA treatment.Furthermore,in vitro and in vivo analysis of NHE1 and Beclin 1 knockout mice validated that EMPA s cardioprotective effects are at least in part through downregulation of autophagic flux.These findings provide new insights for drug development,specifically targeting NHE1 and autosis for ventricular remodeling and heart failure after Ml in both diabetic and non-diabetic patients.Kai Jiang Yue Xu Dandan Wang Feng Chen Zizhuo Tu Jie Qian Sheng Xu Yixiang Xu John Hwa Jian Li Hongcai Shang Yaozu Xiang 2022Protein & Cell2022,13,5:13
7Elastic catenary cable element considering frictional slip effect显示文摘Conventional analysis methods of cable structures do not consider sliding of cables inside the joint,which may lead to inaccuracy of the theoretical behavior of the structure.In order to develop an effective method for cable sliding,a two-node cable element based on the analytical solution for an elastic catenary was studied.The cable sliding stiffness and the effect of friction were investigated.To validate the proposed numerical method,analyses of two examples given in the literature were conducted.The results demonstrated that the method given in this paper is accurate and effective,and can take into account cable sliding in cable structures.In addition,it was shown that the effect of cable sliding on the behavior of cable structures is significant.It was also shown that the friction at the support hampers the flow of the cable force,leading to unequal cable tensions on both sides of the support.CAI JianGuo LIM James FENG Jian XU YiXiang WANG Kai 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,6:10
8On the Kinematic Characteristics and Dynamic Process of Boundary faults of the Nansha Ultra-crust Layer-Block显示文摘The Nansha ultra-crust layer-block is confined by ultra-crustal boundary faults of distinctive features, bordering the Kangtai-Shuangzi-Xiongnan extensional faulted zone on the north, the Baxian-Baram-Yoca-Cuyo nappe faulted zone on the south, the Wan’an-Natuna strike-slip tensional faulted zone on the west and the Mondoro-Panay strike-slip compressive faulted zone on the east. These faults take the top of the Nansha asthenosphere as their common detachmental surface. 9Genomic landscape and genetic manipulation of the black soldier fly Hermetia illucens,a natural waste recycler显示文摘The black soldier fly(BSF),Hermetia illucens(Diptera:Stratiomyidae),is renowned for its bioconversion of organic waste into a sustainable source of animal feed.We report a high-quality genome of 1.1 Gb and a consensus set of 16,770 gene models for this beneficial species.Compared to those of other dipteran species,the BSF genome has undergone a substantial expansion in functional modules related to septic adaptation,including immune system factors,olfactory receptors,and cytochrome P450s.We further profiled midgut transcriptomes and associated microbiomes of BSF larvae fed with representative types of organic waste.We find that the pathways related to digestive system and fighting infection are commonly enriched and that Firmicutes bacteria dominate the microbial community in BSF across all diets.To extend its potential practical applications,we further developed an efficient CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing approach and implemented this to yield flightless and enhanced feeding capacity phenotypes,both of which could expand BSF production capabilities.Our study provides valuable genomic and technical resources for optimizing BSF lines for industrialization.Shuai Zhan Gangqi Fang Minmin Cai Zongqing Kou Jun Xu Yanghui Cao Liang Bai Yixiang Zhang Yongmao Jiang Xingyu Luo Jian Xu Xia Xu Longyu Zheng Ziniu Yu Hong Yang Zhijian Zhang Sibao Wang Jeffery K.Tomberlin Jibin Zhang Yongping Huang 2020Cell Research2020,30,1:9

11OCEAN BOTTOM SEISMOMETER AND ONSHOREOFFSHORE SEISMIC EXPERIMENT IN NORTHEASTERN SOUTH CHINA SEA显示文摘Three-component Ocean Bottom Seismometers, portable land stations and marine air gun seismic sources were used to carry out an onshore-offshore deep seismic profile in northeastern South China Sea. This profile, orientated in NNW-SSE, was as long as 500 km and perpendicular to the strike of regional tectonics. The offshore data were processed in Taiwan Ocean University using a number of available software and the onshore data were analyzed in South China Sea Institute of Oceanology by new-written programs and public software. Preliminary results show that the seismic data are in good quality and contain rich information of deep structure. 12An experimental and numerical study on the charring rate of timber beams exposed to three-side fire显示文摘To investigate the charring rate of timber beams exposed to three-side fire, a total of fifteen new and used Douglas-Fir timber beams in four groups exposed to three-side fire were experimentally studied, together with the finite element analyses of the temperature distribution in the beam section. The durations of fire exposure were 0 (on a test piece), 10, 15, 20 and 30 min, according to the ISO 834 standard fire curve. The charring depth of each timber beam was calculated by averaging the values at one-third and two-thirds along each cross section to give the charring rate of timber beams. It was found that the timber beam's charring rate reduces as the duration of fire exposure increases and the vertical charring rate is slightly higher than the horizontal one. The areas of beam sections reduce due to charring and the strength and stiffness of the pyrolysis layer near the charring edge decrease owing to the high-temperature. The average horizontal and vertical charring rates are 0.98 and 1.08 mm/min, respectively. To take into account the difference between the test furnace temperature curve and the ISO 834 stand- ard fire curve, some corrections were made for these data to yield the solution for charring rate. With the help of the finite element software ANSYS, the temperature distribution of the wood's cross-section was analyzed. 14Lithospheric thermal-rheological structures of the continental margin in the northern South China Sea显示文摘Thermal structures of three deep seismic profiles in the continental margin in the northern South China Sea are calculated, their 'thermal' lithospheric thicknesses are evaluated based on the basalt dry solidus, and their rheological structures are evaluated with linear frictional failure criterion and power-law creep equation. 'Thermal' lithosphere is about 90 km in thickness in shelf area, and thins toward the slope, lowers to 60-65 km in the lower slope, ocean crust and Xisha Trough. In the mid-west of the studied area, the lithospheric rheological structure in shelf area and Xisha Islands is of four layers: brittle, ductile, brittle and ductile. Because of uprising of heat mantle and thinning of crust and lithosphere in Xisha Trough, the bottom of the upper brittle layer is only buried at 16 km. 15Spatiotemporal characterization and regional contributions of O3 and NO2:An investigation of two years of monitoring data in Henan,China显示文摘To investigate the characteristics of ground level ozone(O3)for Henan Province,the ambient air quality monitoring data of 2015 and 2016 were analyzed.The result showed that the 8 h-max-O3 concentrations displayed a distinct seasonality,where the maximum and minimum values,averaging 140.41,54.19μg/m3,occurred in summer and winter,respectively.There is a significant correlation between meteorological factors and O3 concentration.The Voronoi neighborhood averaging analysis indic ated that O3,temperature,and ultraviolet radiation in Henan province were decreased from northwest to southeast,while relative humidity and precipitation displayed the opposite trend.Besides meteorological factors,the chemical processes play an essential role in ozone formation.Reactions of NO,NO2 and O3 form a closed system,and the partitioning point of the OX-component(O3+NO2)was at 40 and 80μg/m3 for nitrogen oxide(NOx)in winter and summer,respectively,with NO2 dominating at higher NOx pollution and O3 being the m ajor component at lower levels.The relationship between oxidant(OX=O3+NO2)and NOx concentrations were evaluated to understand the regional and local contribution of OX.It showed that high regional contribution occurred in the spring,whereas the highest local contribution lead to the summer peak of O3 observed in Zhengzhou.This present study reveals important environment impacts from the photochemical process and the meteorological conditions in the region with better understanding on the O3 characterization.Shijie Yu Shasha Yin Ruiqin Zhang Lingling Wang Fangcheng Su Yixiang Zhang Jian Yang 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,4:7
16Lyapunov exponents for synchronous 12-lead ECG signals显示文摘The Lyapunov exponents of synchronous 12-lead ECG signals have been investigated for the first time using a multi-sensor (electrode) technique. The results show that the Lyapunov exponents computed from different locations on the body surface are not the same, but have a distribution characteristic for the ECG signals recorded from coronary artery disease (CAD) patients with sinus rhythms and for signals from healthy older people. The maximum Lyapunov exponent L1 of all signals is positive. While all the others are negative, so the ECG signal has chaotic characteristics. 17Tectonic evolution of convergent plate margins and its geological effects显示文摘Oceanic lithosphere is generated at divergent plate boundaries and disappears at convergent plate boundaries.Seafloor spreading and plate subduction together constitute the physical coupling and mass conservation relationships to the movement of lithospheres on Earth.Subduction zones are a key site for the transfer of both matter and energy at converging plate boundaries,and their study has been the hot spot and frontier of Earth system science since the development of plate tectonics theory.As far as the dynamic regime and geothermal gradient of convergent plate margins are concerned,they have different properties in different stages of the subduction zone evolution.In general,the early low-angle subduction leads to compressional tectonism dominated by low geothermal gradients at the plate interface,and the late high-angle subduction results in extensional tectonism dominated by high geothermal gradients at the plate interface and its hanging wall.Active rifts are produced along suture zones through not only slab rollback or slab breakoff in the terminal stage of oceanic subduction but also foundering and thinning of the lithosphere in the post-subduction stage.Due to the differences and changes in the geometric and thermobaric structures of convergent plate margins,a series of changes in the type of metamorphism and magmatism can occur in active and fossil subduction zones.Dehydration and melting of the subducting oceanic crust are prominent at subarc depths,giving rise to fluids that dissolve different concentrations of fluid-mobile incompatible elements.The subduction zone fluids at subarc depths would chemically react with the overlying mantle wedge peridotite,generating metasomatites as the mantle sources of mafic magmas in oceanic and continental arcs.However,these metasomatites did not partially melt immediately upon the fluid metasomatism to trigger arc magmatism,and they did not melt until they were heated by asthenospheric convection due to rollback of the subducting slab.Therefore,recognition of the changes in the dynamic regime and geothermal gradient of subduction zones in different stages of plate convergence not only provides insights into geodynamic mechanisms of the tectonic evolution from subduction zones to orogenic belts,but also places constraints on the formation and evolution of different types of metamorphic and magmatic rocks within the advanced framework of plate tectonics.Yongfei ZHENG Yixiang CHEN Renxu CHEN Liqun DAI 2022Science China Earth Sciences2022,65,7:6
18The cellular labeling and pH-sensitive responsive-drug release of celastrol in cancer cells based on Cys-CdTe QDs显示文摘As one of the active compounds derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine,Celastrol(CSL)had cytotoxicity for human leukemia cancer cells K562 and its multidrug-resistant cell line K562/A02.Here,we introduced cysteamine-modified CdTe QDs as the labeling and drug carrier into CSL research and found that the self-assembly and conjugation of anticancer molecular CSL with the Cys-CdTe QDs could significantly increase the drug’s cytotoxicity for K562 cells.More important,these CSL-Cys-CdTe nanocomposites could overcome the multidrug resistance of K562/A02 cells and efficiently inhibit the cancer cell proliferation by realizing the pH-sensitive responsive release of CSL to cancer cells.The enhanced cytotoxicity was caused by the increase of the G2/M phase arrest for K562/A02 cells as well as for K562 cells.Cys-CdTe QDs can readily bind on the cell plasma membranes and be internalized into cancer cells to trace and detect human leukemia cancer cells in real time.In addition,these Cys-CdTe QDs can facilitate the inhibition of the multidrug resistance of K562/A02 cells and readily induce apoptosis.As a good photosensitizer for the therapy,labeling,and tracing of cancer cells,the combination of CSL with Cys-CdTe QDs can optimize the use of and a new potential therapy method for CSL and yield new tools to explore the mechanisms of active compounds from Traditional Chinese Medicine.LI JingYuan SHI LiXin SHAO YiXiang SELKE Matthias CHEN BaoAn JIANG Hui WANG XueMei 2014Science China Chemistry2014,57,6:6
19Redox processes in subduction zones:Progress and prospect显示文摘Oxygen fugacity(fO_(2))is an intensive variable that describes the redox state of a system.By controlling the valence state of multivalent elements,fO_(2)affects the stability of iron-bearing minerals,dominants the species of volatile elements(e.g.,carbon and sulfur),and controls the partitioning behaviors of multivalent elements(e.g.,iron,vanadium,cerium,europium).Thus,fO_(2)plays a key role in understanding the generation and differentiation of arc magmas,the formation of magmatic-hydrothermal deposits,and the nature of magmatic volatiles.Subduction zones are an important site for arc magmatism and fluid action,and the study of redox processes is indispensable in subduction zone geochemistry.In this paper,we first introduce the concept,expression,and estimation methods of fO_(2).Then we retrospect the history and progress about the oxidation state of the metasomatized mantle wedge,summarize the redox property of slab-derived fluids,and review the latest progress on redox evolution of arc magmas during magma generation and differentiation.The main conclusions include:(1)despite its wide variation range,fO_(2)of the mantle wedge is generally higher than that of the oceanic mantle;(2)the redox property of the subducting slab-derived fluids is still controversial and the mechanism for the oxidization of the mantle wedge remains unclear;(3)how the fO_(2)varies during the generation and differentiation of the arc magmas is debated.We propose that the crux in deciphering the oxidization mechanism of the mantle wedge is to determine the mobility of iron,carbon and sulfur in subducting slab-derived fluids(especially solute-rich fluid or supercritical fluid);the key in understanding the redox evolution during arc magma generation and differentiation is to determine the partition coefficients of Fe^(3+)and Fe^(2+)between ferromagnesian minerals and silicate melts.Jintuan Wang Xiaolin Xiong Yixiang Chen Fangfang Huang 2020Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,12:6
20Pertuzumab in combination with trastuzumab and chemotherapy for Chinese patients with HER2-positive metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer:a subpopulation analysis of the JACOB trial显示文摘Background:The JACOB trial(NCT01774786)was a double-blinded,placebo-controlled,randomized,multicenter,international,phase III trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of adding pertuzumab to trastuzumab and chemo-therapy in first-line treatment of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-positive metastatic gastric cancer/gastroesophageal junction cancer(GEJC).The aim of this analysis was to investigate efficacy and safety outcomes in the Chinese subpopulation from the JACOB trial.Methods:This post hoc subpopulation analysis included all patients recruited in China's Mainland(n=163;20.9%)between June 2013 and January 2016.The patients were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive pertuzumab plus trastuzumab and chemotherapy(pertuzumab group;n=82)or placebo plus trastuzumab and chemotherapy(con-trol group;n=81).Intravenous pertuzumab(840 mg)and trastuzumab(8 mg/kg loading and 6 mg/kg maintenance doses)were given every 3 weeks until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.Chemotherapy was given as per standard regimens/doses of capecitabine or 5-fluorouracil plus cisplatin.The primary endpoint was overall survival(OS);secondary efficacy endpoints included progression-free survival(PFS),and overall objective response rate(ORR).Results:The median OS was 18.7 months in the pertuzumab group and 16.1 months in the control group(hazard ratio[HR]0.75;95%confidence interval[CI]0.49 to 1.14).The median PFS was 10.5 and 8.6 months in the pertuzumab and control groups,respectively(HR 0.85;95%CI 0.60 to 1.21),and the median ORRs were 68.9%and 55.7%,respectively.The treatment effect in this Chinese subpopulation showed consistency with that in the global ITT population with numerically lower HR for OS and PFS compared with the control group.The safety profiles of the pertuzumab and control groups in this Chinese subpopulation analysis were generally comparable.The most common grade 3-5adverse events were neutropenia,anemia,and leukopenia.However,due to the nature of being a post hoc subgroup analysis,the results presented here are descriptive only and need to be interpreted with caution.Conclusions:OS and PFS were numerically improved by adding pertuzumab to trastuzumab and chemotherapy as first-line treatment in Chinese HER2-positive gastric cancer/GEJC patients,and this regimen demonstrated an acceptable safety profile.Tianshu Liu Yanru Qin Jin Li Ruihua Xu Jianming Xu Shujun Yang Shukui Qin Yuxian Bai Changping Wu Yixiang Mao Haiyan Wu Yilin Ge Lin Shen 2019Cancer Communications2019,39,1:6
