1Determination of epsilon for Omega vortex identification method显示文摘In the present paper, epsilon(ε) in the Omega vortex identification criterion( Ω method) is defined as an explicit function in order to apply the Ω method to different cases and even different time steps for the unsteady cases. In our method, e is defined as a function relating with the flow without any subjective adjustment on its coefficient. The newly proposed criteria for the determination of ε is tested in several typical flow cases and is proved to be effective in the current work. 2A comparative study of dust control practices in Chinese and Australian longwall coal mines显示文摘Mine dust is one of the main hazards in underground longwall mines worldwide.In order to solve the mine dust problem,a significant number of studies have been carried out regarding longwall mine dust control,both in China and Australia.This paper presents a comparative study of dust control practices in Chinese and Australian longwall mines,with particular references to statutory limits,dust monitoring methods and dust management practices,followed by a brief discussion on the research status of longwall mine dust control in both countries.The study shows that water infusion,face ventilation controls,water sprays,and deep and wet cutting in longwall shearer operations are commonly practiced in almost all underground longwall mines and that both Chinese and Australian longwall mine dust control practices have their own advantages and disadvantages.It is concluded that there is a need for further development and innovative design of more effective dust mitigation products or systems despite the development of various dust control technologies.Based on the examinations and discussions,the authors have made some recommendations for further research and development in dust control in longwall mines.It is hoped that this comparative study will provide beneficial guidance for scholars and engineers who are engaging in longwall mine dust control research and practice.Ji Yinlin Ren Ting Wynne Peter Wan Zhijun Ma Zhaoyang Wang Zhimin 2016International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2016,26,2:9
3Gold nanoflowers for 3D volumetric molecular imaging of tumors by photoacoustic tomography显示文摘By binding molecular probes that target tumor cells, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with superior characteristics have shown great potential in tumor molecular imaging studies. The non-invasive, high-resolution, and three-dimensional imaging of the targeted AuNPs within the tumor is desirable for both diagnosis and therapy. In this study, gold nanoflowers (AuNFs) are presented as a novel contrast agent for photoacoustic tomography (PAT). By binding to folic acid, the molecular probe, the tail-vein injected AuNFs concentrated within the tumor site in mice; this was clearly visualized by three-dimensional (3D) PAT imaging. In addition, toxicity assay proved that AuNFs were harmless to living cells and animals. 4What can the changes in shield resistance tell us during the period of shearer's cutting and neighboring shields' advance?显示文摘In order to determine the influence of shearer's cutting and neighboring shields' advance on the support resistance variation, leg pressure data of all 235 shields in the panel LW61 of Cumberland coal mine were analyzed. The results show that the relationship between the leg pressure increment and the distance from shield to front drum of shearer is a quadratic function and that the higher leg pressure increment before shield advance tends to be related to adverse roof conditions. In addition, the three proposed leg pressure increment-related parameters and the three traditional parameters(time-weighted average pressure, setting pressure, and final pressure) of approximately 32000 shield supporting cycles were calculated by a self-developed software package to analyze the correlation between them. The results show that there is a powerful connection between them, and that the three proposed leg pressure increment-related parameters could be used as the indexes to evaluate the interaction between shields and the roof, and to identify the periodic weighting.Cheng Jingyi Wan Zhijun Peng Syd S. 5POD analysis on vortical structures in MVG wake by Liutex core line identification显示文摘The Liutex core line method, first combined with the snapshot proper orthogonal decomposition (POD), is utilized in a supersonic micro-vortex generator (MVG) wake flow at Ma = 2.5 and Reθ = 5 760 to reveal the physical significance of each POD mode of the flow field. Compared with other scalar-based vortex identification methods, the Liutex core line identification is verified to be the most appropriate approach that is threshold-free and provides full information of a fluid rotation motion. Meanwhile, the Liutex integration is employed to quantitatively track the evolution of the vortices in MVG wake and is applied to the determination of the effective control section of the MVG wake for the optimization study of MVG design. The physical mechanism of each POD mode for multi-scale and multi-frequency vortical structures is investigated by using Liutex core line identification to give some revelations. For the mean mode (mode 0) indicating the time-averaged velocity flowfield of the MVG wake flow, a pair of primary counter-rotating streamwise vortices and another pair of secondary vortices is uniquely identified by two pairs of Liutex core lines with Liutex magnitude. In contrast, mode 1 is featured by a fluctuated roll-up motion of streamwise vortex, and the streamwise component of the MVG wake is demonstrated to be dominant in terms of the total kinetic energy contribution. Meanwhile, a dominant shedding frequency of St = 0.072 is detected from the temporal behavior of mode 2, which has the organized arc-shaped vortex structures shedding from MVG induced by the K-H instability. 6Permeabilization of Escherichia coli with ampicillin for a whole cell biocatalyst with enhanced glutamate decarboxylase activity显示文摘The activity of whole-cell biocatalysts is strongly compromised by the cell envelope, which is a permeability barrier against the diffusion of substrates and products. Although common chemical or physical permeabilization methods used in cultured cells enhance cell permeability, these methods inevitably add several extra processing steps after cell cultivation, as well as impede large scale processing. To increase membrane permeability and cellbound glutamate decarboxylase(GAD) activity of recombinant Escherichia coli(BL21(DE3)-p ET28a-gad B) cells without the need for an additional permeabilization step, we investigated the permeabilizing effects of adding cell wall synthesis inhibitors or surfactants to the culture media. Ampicillin was the most effective at improving cell-bound GAD activity of the BL21(DE3)-p ET28a-gad B, although it decreased the cell biomass yield. The best permeabilization effect was observed using an ampicillin concentration of 5 μg·ml-1. Using this concentration,the cell biomass did decrease by 40.58%, but the cell-bound GAD activity of BL21(DE3)-p ET28a-gad B and total cell-bound GAD activity per milliliter of culture was enhanced by 6.24- and 3.64-fold, respectively. Treatment of BL21(DE3)-p ET28a-gad B cells with 5 μg·ml-1ampicillin resulted in structural changes to the cell envelope,but did not substantially affect GAD expression. By entrapping the ampicillin-treated cells in an open pore gelation matrix, which is a polymer derived from polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), alginate, and boric acid, the transformation rate of γ-aminobutyric acid(GABA) at the 10 th cycle produced by immobilized and permeabilized cells remained 46% of the first cycle. 13Self-assembled core-shell structured organic nanofibers fabricated by single-nozzle electrospinning for highly sensitive ammonia sensors显示文摘Electrospinning is a unique method to prepare 1-dimentional nanofiber for largescalemanufacturing. Here in, we demonstrated chemical sensors based on thesemiconducting nanofibers with core-shell structure by simple single-nozzleelectrospinning with the spontaneous phase separation. The core-shell structurenanofiber has large active sites which make it highly sensitive to chemical analytes.The thickness of the sensing shell can be tuned by controlling the mass ratio ofcore and shell components. As a demonstration, the nanofiber-based sensorexhibits high sensitivity to low-concentration ammonia (ppb level), as well as stabilityand reversibility.
