Genetic control of compound leaf development in the mungbean(Vigna radiata L.)显示文摘Many studies suggest that there are distinct regulatory processes controlling compound leaf development in different clades of legumes.Loss of function of the LEAFY(LFY)orthologs results in a reduction of leaf complexity to different degrees in inverted repeat-lacking clade(IRLC)and non-IRLC species. To further understand the role of LFY orthologs and the molecular mechanism in compound leaf development in non-IRLC plants,we studied leaf development in unifoliate leaf(un)mutant,a classical mutant of mungbean(Vigna radiata L.),which showed a complete conversion of compound leaves into simple leaves. Our analysis revealed that UN encoded the mungbean LFY ortholog(VrLFY)and played a significant role in leaf development. In situ RNA hybridization results showed that STM-like KNOXI genes were expressed in compound leaf primordia in mungbean.Furthermore, increased leaflet number in heptafoliate leaflets1(hel1)mutants was demonstrated to depend on the function of VrLFY and KNOXI genes in mungbean. Our results suggested that HEL1 is a key factor coordinating distinct processes in the control of compound leaf development in mungbean and its related non-IRLC legumes. | Keyuan Jiao Xin Li Shihao Su Wuxiu Guo Yafang Guo Yining Guan Zhubing Hu Zhenguo Shen Da Luo | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 2
Color-preserving passive radiative cooling for an actively temperature-regulated enclosure显示文摘Active temperature control devices are widely used for the thermal management of enclosures, including vehicles and buildings.Passive radiative cooling has been extensively studied;however, its integration with existing actively temperature regulated and decorative enclosures has slipped out of the research at status quo. Here,we present a photonic-engineered dual-side thermal management strategy for reducing the active power consumption of the existing temperature-regulated enclosure without sacrificing its aesthetics.By coating the exterior and interior of the enclosure roof with two visible-transparent films with distinctive wavelength-selectivity,simultaneous control over the energy exchange among the enclosure with the hot sun,the cold outer space, the atmosphere, and the active cooler can be implemented.A power-saving of up to 63%for active coolers of the enclosure is experimentally demonstrated by measuring the heat flux compared to the ordinary enclosure when the set temperature is around 26℃.This photonic-engineered dual-side thermal management strategy offers facile integration with the existing enclosures and represents a new paradigm toward carbon neutrality. | Yining Zhu Hao Luo Chenying Yang Bing Qin Pintu Ghosh Sandeep Kaur Weidong Shen Min Qiu Pavel Belov Qiang Lie | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,6: | 2

One step hot-pressing method for hybrid Li metal anode of solid-state lithium metal batteries显示文摘Safety issues induced by infinite anode volume change and uncontrolled lithium(Li)dendrite growth have become the biggest obstacle to the practical application of Li metal batteries. In addition, the tra-ditional rolling method makes it difficult to manufacture thin Li foil with high mechanical strength and low Li content.Herein,a three-dimensional(3D)lithophilic carbon paper/copper(Cu)current collector hybrid anode with ultra-low Li metal content is prepared by a hot-pressing method. The highly re-versible and stable lithiophilic layer LiC_(x) formed in situ by heating/pressing treatment provides abun-dant nucleation sites and reduces the Li nucleation overpotential, thereby effectively suppressing Li den-drite growth. Moreover, the volume change and pulverization problems of Li metal anode during depo-sition/stripping also can be accommodated by the 3D skeleton. The optimization effect has been directly confirmed by in-situ optical and ex-situ scanning electron microscope observation. Therefore, highly sta-ble performance(158.4 mA h g^(-1) at 2 C after 200 cycles with a capacity retention of 95.24%)in Li@LCP-Cu||NCM811 coin cell can be achieved.Furthermore, the solid-state battery assembled with the hybrid anode, poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)-based polymer electrolyte and polyethylene oxide(PEO)interface functional layer also exhibits the best electrochemical and safety performance, which also proves that the Li@LCP-Cu anode has great potential for application in solid-state batteries. | Kaiming Wang Yifei Chen Liang Zhang Qihang Zhang Zhi Cheng Yining Su Fei Shen Xiaogang Han | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,22: | 0
A perspective on therapies for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis:can disease progression be curbed?显示文摘Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)is a progressive neurodegenerative disease involving both upper and lower motor neurons, leading to paralysis and eventually death.Symptomatic treatments such as inhibition of salivation, alleviation of muscle cramps, and relief of spasticity and pain still play an important role in enhancing the quality of life.To date, riluzole and edaravone are the only two drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of ALS in a few countries. While there is adequate consensus on the modest efficacy of riluzole, there are still open questions concerning the efficacy of edaravone in slowing the disease progression. Therefore, identification of novel therapeutic strategies is urgently needed.Impaired autophagic process plays a critical role in ALS pathogenesis. In this review,we focus on therapies modulating autophagy in the context of ALS.Furthermore, stem cell therapies, gene therapies, and newly-developed biomaterials have great potentials in alleviating neurodegeneration, which might halt the disease progression. In this review,we will summarize the current and prospective therapies for ALS. | Xiaojiao Xu Dingding Shen Yining Gao Qinming Zhou You Ni Huanyu Meng Hongqin Shi Weidong Le Shengdi Chen Sheng Chen | 2021 | Translational Neurodegeneration2021,10,3: | 0
A chromosome-level genome assembly for Erianthus fulvus provides insights into its biofuel potential and facilitates breeding for improvement of sugarcane显示文摘Erianthus produces substantial biomass, exhibits a good Brix value, and shows wide environmental adaptability, making it a potential biofuel plant. In contrast to closely related sorghum and sugarcane,Erianthus can grow in degraded soils, thus releasing pressure on agricultural lands used for biofuel production. However, the lack of genomic resources for Erianthus hinders its genetic improvement, thus limiting its potential for biofuel production. In the present study,we generated a chromosome-scale reference genome for Erianthus fulvus Nees. The genome size estimated by flow cytometry was 937 Mb,and the assembled genome size was 902 Mb,covering 96.26%of the estimated genome size.A total of 35065 proteincoding genes were predicted, and 67.89%of the genome was found to be repetitive.A recent wholegenome duplication occurred approximately 74.10 million years ago in the E.fulvus genome.Phylogenetic analysis showed that E.fulvus is evolutionarily closer to S.spontaneum and diverged after S.bicolor.Three of the 10 chromosomes of E.fulvus formed through rearrangements of ancestral chromosomes.Phylogenetic reconstruction of the Saccharum complex revealed a polyphyletic origin of the complex and a sister relationship of E.fulvus with Saccharum sp.,excluding S.arundinaceum.On the basis of the four amino acid residues that provide substrate specificity, the E.fulvus SWEET proteins were classified as monoand disaccharide sugar transporters.Ortho-QTL genes identified for 10 biofuel-related traits may aid in the rapid screening of E.fulvus populations to enhance breeding programs for improved biofuel production. The results of this study provide valuable insights for breeding programs aimed at improving biofuel production in E.fulvus and enhancing sugarcane introgression programs. | Ling Kui Aasim Majeed Xianhong Wang Zijiang Yang Jian Chen Lilian He Yining Di Xuzhen Li Zhenfeng Qian Yinming Jiao Guoyun Wang Lufeng Liu Rong Xu Shujie Gu Qinghui Yang Shuying Chen Hongbo Lou Yu Meng Linyan Xie Fu Xu Qingqing Shen Amit Singh Karl Gruber Yunbing Pan Tingting Hao Yang Dong Fusheng Li | 2023 | Plant Communications2023,4,4: | 0
Increased expression of coronin-1a in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: a potential diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target显示文摘Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)is the most common motor neuron disease. At present,no definite ALS biomarkers are available. In this study, exosomes from the plasma of patients with ALS and healthy controls were extracted, and differentially expressed exosomal proteins were compared.Among them, the expression of exosomal coronin-1a(CORO1A)was 5.3-fold higher than that in the controls.CORO1A increased with disease progression at a certain proportion in the plasma of patients with ALS and in the spinal cord of ALS mice.CORO1A was also overexpressed in NSC-34 motor neuron-like cells, and apoptosis, oxidative stress, and autophagic protein expression were evaluated.CORO1A overexpression resulted in increased apoptosis and oxidative stress, overactivated autophagy, and hindered the formation of autolysosomes.Moreover,CORO1A activated Ca^(2+)-dependent phosphatase calcineurin, thereby blocking the fusion of autophagosomes and lysosomes. The inhibition of calcineurin activation by cyclosporin A reversed the damaged autolysosomes. In conclusion, the role of CORO1A in ALS pathogenesis was discovered, potentially affecting the disease onset and progression by blocking autophagic flux.Therefore,CORO1A might be a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for ALS. | Qinming Zhou Lu He Jin Hu Yining Gao Dingding Shen You Ni Yuening Qin Huafeng Liang Jun Liu Weidong Le Sheng Chen | 2022 | Frontiers of Medicine2022,16,5: | 0
Transcriptome characterization and SSR discovery in Squaliobarbus curriculus显示文摘Squaliobarbus curriculus is a eurythermic ?sh found mainly in East Asia. The natural germplasm resources of this species, an organism of potential economic aquacultural importance, have recently been threatened by over?shing and habitat degradation. The objective of this study was to obtain functional genomic resources and candidate microsatellite markers for future genetic observation and germplasm protection of S. curriculus. Illumina paired-end sequencing generated over 22.20 million clean reads, which were assembled into 204 027 transcripts with an average length of 1 457 bp. A total of 112 570 protein-coding sequences(55.17%) were predicted, 111 934 of which had signi?cant matches in the NCBI nonredundant protein database. Overall, 60 450, 34 830, and 77 755 transcripts were assigned to Gene Ontology, Clusters of Orthologous Groups, and Eukaryotic Orthologous Groups categories, respectively. In addition, 44 781 transcripts(21.95%) were mapped to 230 KEGG pathways. A total of 51 426 candidate simple sequence repeat(SSR) markers were identi?ed and used to design 36 149 PCR primer pairs. Fifty of these primer pairs were randomly selected for PCR validation in 32 S. curriculus specimens, which resulted in 25 pairs yielding the expected products. Further analysis revealed that 40%(10) of the 25 ampli?ed loci were polymorphic. The transcriptomic pro?le and SSR repertoire obtained in this study should facilitate population genetic studies and germplasm resource protection of S. curriculus. | LI Caijuan TENG Teng SHEN Fanfan GUO Jinqiang CHEN Yining ZHU Chuankun LING Qufei | 2019 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2019,37,1: | 0
Multi-objective optimization of surface texture for the slipper/swash plate interface in EHA pumps显示文摘Well-designed surface textures can improve the tribological properties and the efficiency of the electro-hydrostatic actuator(EHA)pump under high-speed and high-pressure conditions. This study proposes a multi-objective optimization model to obtain the arbitrarily surface textures design of the slipper/swash plate interface for improving the mechanical and volumetric efficiency of the EHA pump. The model is composed of the lubrication film model, the component dynamic model considering the spinning motion, and the multi-objective optimization model. In this way,the arbitrary-shaped surface texture with the best comprehensive effect in the EHA pump is achieved and its positive effects in the EHA pump prototype are verified.Experimental results show a reduction in wear and an improvement in mechanical and volumetric efficiency by 1.4%and 0.8%,respectively,with the textured swash plate compared with the untextured one. | Junhui ZHANG Yining SHEN Minyao GAN Qi SU Fei LYU Bing XU Yuan CHEN | 2022 | Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering2022,17,4: | 0
