| 1 | Crustal velocity structure in the Emeishan large igneous province and evidence of the Permian mantle plume activity显示文摘The Emeishan large igneous province(ELIP) in SW China is interpreted to be associated with an ancient mantle plume. Most of the constraints on the role of mantle plume in the generation of the Emeishan flood basalts were provided by geological and geochemical methods, but the geophysical investigation is very limited. In order to better understand the deep structure and features of ELIP, we have studied the crustal velocity structure using the data acquired from the Lijiang-Panzhihua-Qingzhen wide-angle seismic profile. This profile crosses the three sub-zones of the ELIP(the inner, intermediate, and outer zones), divided based on the differential erosion and uplift of the Maokou limestone. The results provided by the active source seismic experiment demonstrate:(1) The average depth of the crystalline basement along the profile is about 2 km.(2) The middle crust in the Inner Zone is characterized by high-velocity anomalies, with the average velocity of 6.2-6.6 km/s, which is about 0.1– 0.2 km/s higher than the normal one. The velocity of the lower crust in the inner zone is 6.9-7.2 km/s, higher than those observed in the intermediate and outer zones(6.7-7.0 km/s). Relatively low velocity anomalies appear in the upper, middle and lower crusts near the junction of the inner zone and intermediate zone, probably due to the effect of the Xiaojiang fault(XJF).(3) The average velocity of the crust is comparatively low on both sides of XJF, especially on the east side, and the average velocity of the consolidated continental crust is also low there. This may suggest that the XJF extends at least down to 40 km deep, even beyond through the crust.(4) The depth to the Moho discontinuity decrease gradually from 47-53 km in the inner zone, via 42-50 km in the intermediate zone to 38-42 km in the outer zone. In the inner zone, the Moho uplifts locally and the(consolidated) crust is characterized by high-velocity anomalies, which are likely related to intensive magma intrusion and underplating associated with melting of plume head. | 2 | Urbanization reduces resource use efficiency of phytoplankton community by altering the environment and decreasing biodiversity显示文摘Urbanization often exerts multiple effects on aquatic and terrestrial organisms,including changes in biodiversity,species composition and ecosystem functions.However,the impacts of urbanization on river phytoplankton in subtropical urbanizing watersheds remain largely unknown.Here,we explored the effects of urbanization on phytoplankton community structure(i.e.,biomass,community composition and diversity)and function(i.e.,resource use efficiency)in a subtropical river at watershed scale in southeast China over 6 years.A total of 318 phytoplankton species belonging into 120 genera and 7 phyla were identified from 108 samples.Bacillariophyta biomass showed an increasing trend with increasing urbanization level.The phytoplankton community shifted from Chlorophyta dominance in rural upstream waters to Bacillariophyta dominance in urbanized downstream waters.Furthermore,phytoplankton diversity and resource use efficiency(RUE=phytoplankton biomass/total phosphorus)were significantly decreased with increasing urbanization level from upstream to downstream.Phytoplankton RUE exhibited a significant positive correlation with species richness,but a negative correlation with phytoplankton evenness.The variation in environmental factors(turbidity,total nitrogen,NH_(4)^(+)-N,total phosphorus,PO_(4)^(3-)-P and percentage urbanized area)was significantly correlated with phytoplankton diversity and RUE.Overall,our results revealed the influence of urbanization on phytoplankton community structure and ecosystem function was due to its altering the environmental conditions.Therefore,human-driven urbanization may play crucial roles in shaping the structure and function of phytoplankton communities in subtropical rivers,and the mechanism of this process can provide important information for freshwater sustainable uses,watershed management and conservation. | Yigang Yang Huihuang Chen Mamun Abdullah Al Jean Claude Ndayishimiye Jun R Yang Alain Isabwe Anqi Luo Jun Yang | 2022 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,2: | 4 |
| 3 | Research of a novel biodegradable surgical staple made of high purity magnesium显示文摘Surgical staples made of pure titanium and titanium alloys are widely used in gastrointestinal anastomosis.However the Ti staple cannot be absorbed in human body and produce artifacts on computed tomography(CT)and other imaging examination,and cause the risk of incorrect diagnosis.The bioabsorbable staple made from polymers that can degrade in human body environment,is an alternative.In the present study,biodegradable high purity magnesium staples were developed for gastric anastomosis.U-shape staples with two different interior angles,namely original 90and modified 100,were designed.Finite element analysis(FEA)showed that the residual stress concentrated on the arc part when the original staple was closed to B-shape,while it concentrated on the feet for the modified staple after closure.The in vitro tests indicated that the arc part of the original staple ruptured firstly after 7 days immersion,whereas the modified one kept intact,demonstrating residual stress greatly affected the corrosion behavior of the HP-Mg staples.The in vivo implantation showed good biocompatibility of the modified Mg staples,without inflammatory reaction 9 weeks post-operation.The Mg staples kept good closure to the Anastomosis,no leaking and bleeding were found,and the staples exhibited no fracture or severe corrosion cracks during the degradation. | Hongliu Wu Changli Zhao Jiahua Ni Shaoxiang Zhang Jingyi Liu Jun Yan Yigang Chen Xiaonong Zhang | 2016 | Bioactive Materials2016,1,2: | 3 |

| 5 | Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for patients with acute leukemia显示文摘Objective: The purposes of this study were to assess the efficacy of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for acute leukemia (AL) and analyze the factors affecting the prognosis of these patients. Methods: The clinical and follow-up data of 93 AL patients (median age, 30 years) undergoing allogeneic HSCT in Xiangya Hospital over the past 12 years were collected, and the potential factors affecting the efficacy and prognosis of allogeneic HSCT patients were determined. Results: Hematopoietic reconstitution was achieved in 90 patients. At the last follow-up, the incidences of severe acute graft versus host disease (aGvHD) and extensive chronic GvHD (cGvHD) were 14.0% and 20.0%, the 3-year cumulative incidence of transplantation related mortality (TRM) and relapse rate were 16.8%±6.1% and 21.3%±6.7%, and the estimated 3-year overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) of the patients were 64.6%±5.4% and 56.5%±5.5%, respectively. Univariate analysis indicated that age older than 40 years, HLA mismatch, and severe lung infection within the first 100 days after transplantation were risk factors for severe aGvHD, age older than 40 years, HLA mismatch, severe lung infection within the first 100 days after transplantation, and severe aGvHD were risk factors for TRM, high-risk AL and lack of cGvHD were risk factors for relapse (all P<0.05). Survival estimation showed that HLA mismatch, severe lung infection occurring within the first 100 days post-transplantation, high-risk AL severe aGvHD and lack of cGvHD were risk factors associated with poor prognosis (all P<0.05). Further multivariate analyses revealed that severe lung infection within the first 100 days post-transplantation, severe aGvHD and lack of cGvHD were independent risk factors for unfavorable outcomes (all P<0.05). | 10 | Subaqueous volcanism in the Paleo-Pacific Ocean based on Jurassic basaltic tuff and pillow basalt in the Raohe Complex,NE China显示文摘On-land records of subaqueous explosive volcanic eruptions are rarely reported.To understand this phenomenon and discuss its global significance,we studied the geochronology and geochemistry of basaltic tuff and pillow basalt in the Raohe Complex,NE China.The basaltic tuff consists of well-sorted vitreous,crystal(mostly clinopyroxene),and minor lithic fragments.It is characterized by a high Mg O(15.7–15.9%)content and zero Eu anomalies(Eu/Eu~*=99–102).The tuff erupted at 172±1 Ma based on SHRIMP zircon U-Pb dating,coeval with the previously reported age of the pillow basalt.The pillow basalt has intermediate Mg O content and weakly negative Eu anomalies(Eu/Eu~*=90–99).Based on immobile trace element discrimination,the basaltic tuff and pillow basalt belong to alkali basalt displaying an OIB-type trace element pattern,and consistent Nd isotope signatures ofε_(Nd)(t)=4.4–6.2,indicating an identical mantle source.The pillow basalt has coupled Sr-Nd isotopic values,whereas the basaltic tuff has significantly higher initial^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr values that are similar to synchronous seawater.This indicates that the elemental exchange between the mantle-derived material and seawater most likely occurred in a subaqueous explosive volcanic eruption,rather than in an effusive eruption.Detailed calculations suggest that the high efficiency of the Sr-isotope exchange between seawater and the mantle-derived material triggered by a subaqueous explosive volcanic eruption is likely one of the main reasons for the rapid decrease of the global seawater^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr value. | SUN MingDao XU YiGang CHEN HanLin | 2018 | Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,8: | 2 |

| 13 | Behavior-oriented calculation of the annual coastal bathymetry evolution caused by a reclamation work显示文摘A behavior-oriented formula is improved to calculate the annual coastal bathymetry evolution caused by a reclamation work. This formula is based on a simple hypothesis that, on the time scale of years, the bathymetry evolution is closely related to the change of tidal current field due to the reclamation work. A new coefficient,named the erosion reduction coefficient, is introduced to extend the original formula for applications in calculating bed erosion. A simplified relationship between the annual variation of the siltation/erosion rate and the water depth is introduced to more realistically represent the long-term process of the bathymetry evolution.The improved formula is applied to calculate the bathymetry evolution in 3 a following a reclamation project in the Xiaomiaohong Tidal Channel in Jiangsu coast in China. | 15 | Is proton a charge carrier for δ-MnO_(2) cathode in aqueous rechargeable magnesium-ion batteries?显示文摘Manganese dioxide(MnO_(2)) is considered as a potential cathode material for aqueous magnesium-ion batteries. However, the charge/discharge mechanism of MnO_(2)in aqueous electrolyte is still unclear. In present study, highly porous δ-MnO_(2) is investigated, which delivers a high capacity of 252.1 m Ah g^(-1) at 0.05 A g^(-1) and excellent rate capability, i.e., 109.7 m Ah g^(-1) at 1 A g^(-1), but a low-capacity retention of 54.4% after 800 cycles at 1 A g^(-1). The two-step discharging process, namely a consequent H^(+) and Mg^(2+) insertion reaction, is verified, by comparing the electrochemical performance of δ-MnO_(2) in 1 M MgCl_(2) and 1 M MnCl_(2) aqueous electrolyte and analyzing detailedly the Mg content and the bonding state of Mn at different charge/discharge state. | 16 | Effects of melt percolation on the Re-Os systematics of continental mantle lithosphere: A case study of spinel peridotite xenoliths from Heilongjiang, NE China显示文摘Os isotope ratios of mantle peridotites have been considered to be largely immune to recent melt-rock interaction. However, Os isotope ratios and PGE (Platinum group elements) concentrations of the Yong'an xenoliths have been significantly modified by melt percolation, and are not suitable for determining the formation age of lithosphere mantle in Yong'an. In this study, the Yong'an spinel peridotite xenoliths are divided into two groups: N-Type and E-Type. The N-Type group including cpx (clinopyroxene)-poor lherzolite and harzburgite, shows a large variation of Cr#(sp) (13.2-48) and sulfur contents (from 171 ppm to below detection limit), whereas the E-Type peridotites are mainly refractory harzburgites and are characterized by high Cr#(sp) (35.3-42.2) and overall low sulfur contents (below 51 ppm). Both types show similar major and REE (rare earth element) patterns. Furthermore, the N-Type peridotites display a restricted range of iridium-group PGE (IPGE), Os/Ir and Ru/Ir ratios (Os/Ir = 0.64-1.12, Ru/Ir = 1.52-1.79) and variable palladium-group PGE (PPGE) contents (3.4-14.9 ppb), whereas the E-Type peridotites show a large variation of Os/Ir and Ru/Ir ratios (Os/Ir = 0.33-0.84, Ru/Ir = 0.94-1.6), and a restricted range of PPGE (4.3-6.9 ppb). 187Os/188Os ratios of E-Type peridotites are higher than those of N-Type peridotites at comparable fertility levels. These results suggest that N-Type peridotites may have been overprinted by metasomatism via small melt fractions, in which the percolation of the volatile-rich, small melt fractions only resulted in LILE (large ion lithophile element) enrichment of clinopyroxene, and their whole rock PGE contents and Re-Os isotope values were little changed.
