1Injectable hydrogels for cartilage and bone tissue engineering显示文摘Tissue engineering has become a promising strategy for repairing damaged cartilage and bone tissue. Among the scaffolds for tissue-engineering applications, injectable hydrogels have demonstrated great potential for use as three-dimensional cell culture scaffolds in cartilage and bone tissue engineering, owing to their high water content, similarity to the natural extracellular matrix(ECM), porous framework for cell transplantation and proliferation, minimal invasive properties, and ability to match irregular defects. In this review, we describe the selection of appropriate biomaterials and fabrication methods to prepare novel injectable hydrogels for cartilage and bone tissue engineering. In addition, the biology of cartilage and the bony ECM is also summarized. 4Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy is as safe and feasible as open procedure:A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the feasibility and safety of laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy(LDP) compared with open distal pancreatectomy(ODP).METHODS:Meta-analysis was performed using the databases,including PubMed,the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials,Web of Science and BIOSIS Previews.Articles should contain quantitative data of the comparison of LDP and ODP.Each article was reviewed by two authors.Indices of operative time,spleen-preserving rate,time to fluid intake,ratio of malignant tumors,postoperative hospital stay,incidence rate of pancreatic fistula and overall morbidity rate were analyzed.RESULTS:Nine articles with 1341 patients who underwent pancreatectomy met the inclusion criteria.LDP was performed in 501(37.4%) patients,while ODP was performed in 840(62.6%) patients.There were significant differences in the operative time,time to fluid intake,postoperative hospital stay and spleen-preserving rate between LDP and ODP.There was no difference between the two groups in pancreatic fistula rate [random effects model,risk ratio(RR) 0.996(0.663,1.494),P = 0.983,I2 = 28.4%] and overall morbidity rate [random effects model,RR 0.81(0.596,1.101),P = 0.178,I2 = 55.6%].CONCLUSION:LDP has the advantages of shorter hospital stay and operative time,more rapid recovery and higher spleen-preserving rate as compared with ODP.Kun Xie Yi-Ping Zhu Xiao-Wu Xu Ke Chen Jia-Fei Yan Yi-Ping Mou 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,16:22
5Laparoscopic vs open distal pancreatectomy for solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas显示文摘AIM:To compare short-and long-term outcomes of laparoscopic vs open distal pancreatectomy for solid pseudopapillary tumor(SPT)of the pancreas.METHODS:This retrospective study included 28 patients who underwent distal pancreatectomy for SPT of the pancreas between 1998 and 2012.The patients were divided into two groups based on the surgical approach:the laparoscopic surgery group and the open surgery group.The patients’demographic data,operative results,pathological reports,hospital courses,morbidity and mortality,and follow-up data were compared between the two groups.RESULTS:Fifteen patients with SPT of the pancreas underwent laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy(LDP),and 13 underwent open distal pancreatectomy(ODP).Baseline characteristics were similar between the two groups except for a female predominance in the LDP group(100.0%vs 69.2%,P=0.035).Mortality,morbidity(33.3%vs 38.5%,P=1.000),pancreatic fistula rates(26.7%vs 30.8%,P=0.728),and reoperation rates(0.0%vs 7.7%,P=0.464)were similar in the two groups.There were no significant differences in the operating time(171 min vs 178 min,P=0.755)between the two groups.The intraoperative blood loss(149 mL vs 580 mL,P=0.002),transfusion requirement(6.7%vs 46.2%,P=0.029),first flatus time(1.9d vs 3.5 d,P=0.000),diet start time(2.3 d vs 4.9 d,P=0.000),and postoperative hospital stay(8.1 d vs 12.8d,P=0.029)were significantly less in the LDP group than in the ODP group.All patients had negative surgical margins at final pathology.There were no significant differences in number of lymph nodes harvested(4.6 vs6.4,P=0.549)between the two groups.The median follow-up was 33(3-100)mo for the LDP group and 45(17-127)mo for the ODP group.All patients were alive with one recurrence.CONCLUSION:LDP for SPT has short-term benefits compared with ODP.Long-term outcomes of LDP are similar to those of ODP.Ren-Chao Zhang Jia-Fei Yan Xiao-Wu Xu Ke Chen Harsha Ajoodhea Yi-Ping Mou 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,37:14
6Intracorporeal esophagojejunostomy after totally laparoscopic total gastrectomy: A single-center 7-year experience显示文摘AIM: To assess the efficacy and safety of intracorporeal esophagojejunostomy in patients undergoing laparoscopic total gastrectomy(LTG) for gastric cancer.METHODS: A retrospective review of 81 consecutive patients who underwent LTG with the same surgical team between November 2007 and July 2014 was performed. Four types of intracorporeal esophagojejunostomy using staplers or hand-sewn suturing were performed after LTG. Data on clinicopatholgoical characteristics, occurrence of complications, postoperative recovery, anastomotic time, and operation time among the surgical groups were obtained through medical records.RESULTS: The average operation time was 288.7 min, the average anastomotic time was 54.3 min, and the average estimated blood loss was 82.7 m L. There were no cases of conversion to open surgery. The first flatus was observed around 3.7 d, while the liquid diet was started, on average, from 4.9 d. The average postoperative hospital stay was 10.1 d. Postoperative complications occurred in 14 patients, nearly 17.3%.However, there were no cases of postoperative death.CONCLUSION: LTG performed with intracorporeal esophagojejunostomy using laparoscopic staplers or hand-sewn suturing is feasible and safe. 7Resection of a cholangiocarcinoma via laparoscopic hepatopancreato- duodenectomy:A case report显示文摘Some laterally advanced cholangiocarcinomas behave as ductal spread or local invasion,and hepatopancreatoduodenectomy(HPD)may be performed for R0 resection.To date,there have been no reports of laparoscopic HPD(LHPD)in the English literature.We report the first case of LHPD for the resection of a BismuthⅢa cholangiocarcinoma invading the duodenum.The patient underwent laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy and right hemihepatectomy.Child’s approach was used for the reconstruction.The patient recovered well with bile leakage from the 2nd postoperative day and was discharged on the 16th postoperative day with a drainage tube in place which was removed 2 wk after discharge.Postoperative pathology revealed a well-differentiated cholangiocarcinoma andthe margin of liver parenchyma,pancreas and stomach was negative for metastases.The results suggest that LHPD is a feasible and safe procedure when performed in highly specialized centers and in suitable patients with cholangiocarcinoma.Miao-Zun Zhang Xiao-Wu Xu Yi-Ping Mou Jia-Fei Yan Yi-Ping Zhu Ren-Chao Zhang Yu-Cheng Zhou Ke Chen Wei-Wei Jin Erik Matro Harsha Ajoodhea 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,45:12
8Laparoscopic spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy for pancreatic neoplasms:A retrospective study显示文摘AIM:To describe the clinical characteristics,technical procedures,and outcomes of patients undergoing laparoscopic spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy(LSPDP)for benign and malignant pancreatic neoplasms.METHODS:The clinical data of 38 patients who underwent LSPDP in the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital between January 2003 and August 2013 were analyzed retrospectively.Surgical techniques for LSPDP included preservation of the splenic artery and vein(Kimura’s technique)and ligation of the splenic pedicle with preservation of the short gastric vessels(Warshaw’s technique).RESULTS:There were no conversions to open surgery in the 38 patients.Splenic vessels were conserved during spleen-preserving pancreatectomy,except in two patients who underwent resection of the splenic vessels and preservation only of the short gastric vessels.The mean operation time was 123.2±52.4 min,the mean intraoperative blood loss was 78.2±39.5 mL,and the mean postoperative hospital stay was 7.6±2.9 d.The overall rate of postoperative complications was 18.4%(7/38),and the rate of clinical pancreatic fistula was13.2%(5/38).All postoperative complications were treated conservatively.The postoperative pathological diagnoses were 22 cases of benign pancreatic disease and 16 cases of borderline or low-grade malignant lesions.During a median follow-up of 38 mo(range:5-133mo),no recurrence was observed.CONCLUSION:LSPDP is a safe,feasible and effective procedure for the treatment of benign and low-grade malignant tumors of the distal pancreas.Jia-Fei Yan Xiao-Wu Xu Wei-Wei Jin Chao-Jie Huang Ke Chen Ren-Chao Zhang Ajoodhea Harsha Yi-Ping Mou 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,38:11
9Development as adaptation: Framing and measuring urban resilience in Beijing显示文摘As part of their efforts to cope with climate change, many municipal governments have considered the improvement of urban resilience as an important strategy. In this study, we take the megacity of Beijing as an example and conduct a mixed-methods research using both qualitative and quantitative methods to explore linkage between resilience and development. First, based on expert consultation, we develop an analytical framework and propose reference indicators for measuring urban resilience. Second, we conduct an exploratory factor analysis to justify this analytical framework and rank the urban resilience index for 16 districts in Beijing. Results indicate that urban resilience at the district level is distinguished by the characteristics of the district's functional zones. This implies that the development focus of each district influences the driving factors of urban resilience. This article provides evidence that development and adaptation can be complementary. We showcase in Beijing that urban generic resilience is highly dependent on socio-economic development and urbanization, whereas specific resilience to climatic extremes can be attributed to natural endowment and environmental investment. 10Robust adaptive compensation control for unmanned autonomous helicopter with input saturation and actuator faults显示文摘This paper studies a robust adaptive compensation Fault Tolerant Control(FTC)for the medium-scale Unmanned Autonomous Helicopter(UAH)in the presence of external disturbances,actuator faults and input saturation.To improve the disturbance rejection capacity of the UAH system in actuator healthy case,an adaptive control method is adopted to cope with the external disturbances and a nominal controller is proposed to stabilize the system.Meanwhile,compensation control inputs are designed to reduce the negative effects derived from actuator faults and input saturation.Based on the backstepping control and inner-outer loop control technologies,a robust adaptive FTC scheme is developed to guarantee the tracking errors convergence.Under the presented FTC controller,the uniform ultimate boundedness of all closed-loop signals is ensured via Lyapunov stability analysis.Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.Kun YAN Mou CHEN Qingxian WU Ronggang ZHU 2019Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2019,32,10:6

12Fouling community characteristics in subtropical coastal waters of the southwestern East China Sea显示文摘A fouling study was conducted in coastal waters southwest of the East China Sea between December 2013 and November 2014. A total of 84 species of fouling organisms belonging to 69 genera, 49 families, and 10 phyla were recorded over the entire year. The community composition was dominated by coastal warm-water species belonging to typical subtropical inner bay communities. The prosperous stage of settlement lasted from April to September, and the adhesion strength of the fouling organisms was the highest in summer. Sessile suspension feeders constituted the main core of settlement for the fouling community. Amphibalanus reticulatus was the most dominant and representative species of fouling organism, and other dominant species included Caprella equilibra, Ectopleura crocea, Anthopleura nigrescens, Stylochus ijimai, Spirobranchus kraussii, Crassostrea angulata, Perna viridis, Jassa falcata, Stenothoe valida, Sphaerozius nitidus, and Biflustra grandicella. The individuals in the fouling community showed a mutual dependence or constraint relationship due to competition for settlement space and food, and they exhibited a particular spatiotemporal distribution in accordance with adaptation to environmental factors. Temperature was the most important environmental factor determining the geographic distribution of fouling organisms. The temperature characteristics of species essentially reflect the differences in the fouling community composition in various climate zones. The species number, settlement stage, and settlement rate of fouling organisms are closely related to water temperature. 13Clinical experience in liver transplantation from an organ transplantation center in China显示文摘Objective: To sum up the experience in liver trans-plantation in a period of ten years at a single center.Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical re-cords of 120 patients receiving liver transplantationfrom April 1993 to October 2002. The patients’ cli-nical characteristics, surgical techniques, complica-tions and survival were compared in the phases of1993-1997 (phase Ⅰ), 1999 (phase Ⅱ), and 2000-2002 (phase Ⅲ).Results: Malignant liver diseases were major indica-tions for liver transplantation in phase Ⅰ(100%) andⅡ(53. 3%), but decreased markedly in percentagein phase Ⅲ(34. 0%). When compared with recipi-ents in phase Ⅰ and Ⅱ, the survival of recipients withbenign liver diseases in phase Ⅲ was significantly im-proved with the 3-month, 6-month and 1-year sur-vival rates of 85. 7%, 84. 5% and 83. 1%, respec-tively. For patients with malignant liver diseases, the3-month, 6-month and 1-year survival rates were87. 4%, 81. 1% and 46. 0%, respectively. The rein-fection rate of hepatitis B virus was 24% 12 monthsafter transplantation. With technical refinements,the incidence of postransplantation vascular compli-cations has significantly decreased from 29. 4% inphase Ⅰ and Ⅱ to 4. 9% in phase Ⅲ. Biliary compli-cations remained one of the major obstacles to long-term survival. 14Modeling the impact of the viaduct on particles dispersion from vehicle exhaust in street canyons显示文摘In this paper,the impact of the viaduct on flow and traffic exhausting particles dispersion within urban street canyons was nu-merically simulated using a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) model.Two-dimensional flow and dispersion of particles from traffic exhausts were modeled using the standard k-? turbulence model.The street canyons with a viaduct at different widths and different heights above the ground are simulated.The results show that the airflow in street canyon is evidently in-fluenced by the viaduct:The position of the main vortex center is changed,especially there are two strong vortexes when the viaduct is placed at 10 m height above the ground.It is found based on the study of the particles number concentrations(PNCs) that the viaduct may mitigate the pollution level in the street canyon sometimes.The impact of the viaduct width on PNCs is stronger than that of the height.The study of PNDs reveals that the mean PNCs at the wall of upwind building increase when a viaduct is placed in street canyon.In addition,it is found based on the study of mean particles residence time(PRT) that the removal of the particles strongly correlates to the mean PNCs.The results indicate that the viaduct is an important factor to in-fluence the flow patterns and particles dispersion in street canyons.ZHANG ChuanFu WEN Mou ZENG JianRong ZHANG GuiLin FANG HaiPing LI Yan 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,1:5
15Geological Features of Triassic Alkaline and Subalkaline Igneous Complexes in the Yan-Liao Area显示文摘A number of Triassic (245-195 Ma) alkaline or subalkaline igneous complexes were discovered in theYan-liao area in the northern part of the North China platform. These complexes are all poor in SiO2; most ofthem are rich in Fe, Mg, K and P and such incompatible elements as Rb, Ba, U and Sr and REE; theinitial 87Sr / 86Sr ratios range from 0.7055 to 0.7057. 17Generation of tryptophan hydroxylase 2 gene knockout pigs by CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene targeting显示文摘Unbalanced brain serotonin(5-HT) levels have implications in various behavioral abnormalities and neuropsychiatric disorders. The biosynthesis of neuronal 5-HT is regulated by the rate-limiting enzyme, tryptophan hydroxylase-2(TPH2). In the present study, the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated(Cas) system was used to target the Tph2 gene in Bama mini pig fetal fibroblasts. It was found that CRISPR/Cas9 targeting efficiency could be as high as 61.5%, and the biallelic mutation efficiency reached at38.5%. The biallelic modified colonies were used as donors for somatic cell nuclear transfer(SCNT) and 10 Tph2 targeted piglets were successfully generated. These Tph2 KO piglets were viable and appeared normal at the birth.However, their central 5-HT levels were dramatically reduced, and their survival and growth rates were impaired before weaning. 19Pathological features of COVID-19-associated lung injury:a preliminary proteomics report based on clinical samples显示文摘The COVID-19 pandemic has emerged as a global health emergency due to its association with severe pneumonia and relative high mortality.However,the molecular characteristics and pathological features underlying COVID-19 pneumonia remain largely unknown.To characterize molecular mechanisms underlying COVID-19 pathogenesis in the lung tissue using a proteomic approach,fresh lung tissues were obtained from newly deceased patients with COVID-19 pneumonia.After virus inactivation,a quantitative proteomic approach combined with bioinformatics analysis was used to detect proteomic changes in the SARS-CoV-2-infected lung tissues.We identified significant differentially expressed proteins involved in a variety of fundamental biological processes including cellular metabolism,blood coagulation,immune response,angiogenesis,and cell microenvironment regulation.Several inflammatory factors were upregulated,which was possibly caused by the activation of NF-κB signaling.Extensive dysregulation of the lung proteome in response to SARS-CoV-2 infection was discovered.Our results systematically outlined the molecular pathological features in terms of the lung response to SARS-CoV-2 infection,and provided the scientific basis for the therapeutic target that is urgently needed to control the COVID-19 pandemic.Ling Leng Ruiyuan Cao Jie Ma Danlei Mou Yunping Zhu Wei Li Luye Lv Dunqin Gao Shikun Zhang Feng Gong Lei Zhao Bintao Qiu Haiping Xiang Zhongjie Hu Yingmei Feng Yan Dai Jiang Zhao Zhihong Wu Hongjun Li Wu Zhong 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:4
20Distribution and characteristics of telocytes as nurse cells in the architectural organization of engineered heart tissues显示文摘Interstitial Cajal-like cells are a distinct type of interstitial cell with a wide distribution in mammalian organs and tissues,and have been given the name'telocytes'.Recent studies have demonstrated the potential roles of telocytes in heart development,renewal,and repair.However,further research on the functions of telocytes is limited by the complicated in vivo environment.This study was designed to construct engineered heart tissue(EHT)as a three-dimensional model in vitro to better understand the role of telocytes in the architectural organization of the myocardium.EHTs were constructed by seeding neonatal cardiomyocytes in collagen/Matrigel scaffolds followed by culture under persistent static stretch.Telocytes in EHTs were identified by histology,toluidine blue staining,immunofluorescence,and transmission electron microscopy.The results from histology and toluidine blue staining demonstrated widespread putative telocytes with compact toluidine blue-stained nuclei,which were located around cardiomyocytes.Prolongations from the cell bodies showed a characteristic dichotomous branching pattern and formed networks in EHTs.Immunofluorescence revealed positive staining of telocytes for CD34 and vimentin with typical moniliform prolongations.A series of electron microscopy images further showed that typical telocytes embraced the cardiomyocytes with their long prolongations and exhibited a marked appearance of nursing cardiomyocytes during the construction of EHTs.This finding highlights the great importance of telocytes in the architectural organization of EHTs.It also suggests that EHT is an appropriate physical and pathological model system in vitro to study the roles of telocytes during heart development and regeneration.ZHOU Jin WANG Yan ZHU Ping SUN HongYu MOU YongChao DUAN CuiMi YAO AnNing LV ShuangHong WANG ChangYong 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,2:4
