1Effects of water management on arsenic and cadmium speciation and accumulation in an upland rice cultivar显示文摘Pot and field experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of water regimes on the speciation and accumulation of arsenic(As) and cadmium(Cd) in Brazilian upland rice growing in soils polluted with both As and Cd. In the pot experiment constant and intermittent flooding treatments gave 3–16 times higher As concentrations in soil solution than did aerobic conditions but Cd showed the opposite trend. Compared to arsenate, there were more marked changes in the arsenite concentrations in the soil solution as water management shifted, and therefore arsenite concentrations dominated the As speciation and bioavailability in the soil. In the field experiment As concentrations in the rice grains increased from 0.14 to 0.21 mg/kg while Cd concentrations decreased from 0.21 to 0.02 mg/kg with increasing irrigation ranging from aerobic to constantly flooding conditions. Among the various water regimes the conventional irrigation treatment produced the highest rice grain yield of 6.29 tons/ha. The As speciation analysis reveals that the accumulation of dimethylarsinic acid(from 11.3% to 61.7%) made a greater contribution to the increase in total As in brown rice in the intermittent and constant flooding treatments compared to the intermittent-aerobic treatment. Thus, water management exerted opposite effects on Cd and As speciation and bioavailability in the soil and consequently on their accumulation in the upland rice. 3Nucleation and Growth Mechanisms for Pd-Pt Bimetallic Nanodendrites and Their Electrocatalytic Properties显示文摘In a seed-mediated synthesis, nanocrystal growth is often described by assuming the absence of homogeneous nucleation in the solution. Here we provide new insights into the nucleation and growth mechanisms underlying the formation of bimetallic nanodendrites that are characterized by a dense array of Pt branches anchored to a Pd nanocrystal core. These nanostructures can be easily prepared by a one-step, seeded growth method that involves the reduction of K2PtCl4 by L-ascorbic acid in the presence of 9-nm truncated octahedral Pd seeds in an aqueous solution. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution TEM analyses revealed that both homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation of Pt occurred at the very early stages of the synthesis and the Pt branches grew through oriented attachment of small Pt particles that had been formed via homogeneous nucleation. These new findings contradict the generally accepted mechanism for seeded growth that only involves heterogeneous nucleation and simple growth via atomic addition. 7Growth and Patterning of Pt Nanowires on Silicon Substrates显示文摘This paper describes a simple procedure for growing dense fi lms of Pt nanowires directly on silicon substrates by modifying the surface through chemical or physical means.In the former,a self-assembled monolayer of(3-mercaptopropyl)-trimethoxysilane(MPTMS)is applied which can strongly bind Pt(0)nuclei to the surface through Pt S linkages.Once attached,the Pt(0)nuclei can act as catalytic sites for the growth of Pt nanowires along the〈111〉direction.Alternately,relief features are physically created on the surface in order to generate nucleation and binding sites for Pt(0)nuclei,due to the higher free energy associated with a rough surface.Additionally,Pt nanowires have been successfully produced in well-defined patterns by scouring grooves on the silicon surface or by photochemically patterning the MPTMS monolayers with a shadow mask.We have also measured the electrochemical properties of these immobilized or patterned Pt nanowires.The results provide an effective route to producing dense fi lms of Pt nanowires with high surface areas for various electrochemical applications.Eric P.Lee Younan Xia 2008Nano Research2008,1,2:3

10New Insights into the Growth Mechanism and Surface Structure of Palladium Nanocrystals显示文摘This paper presents a systematic study of the growth mechanism for Pd nanobars synthesized by reducing Na_(2)PdCl_(4) with L-ascorbic acid in an aqueous solution in the presence of bromide ions as a capping agent.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and high-resolution TEM analyses revealed that the growth at early stages of the synthesis was dominated by particle coalescence,followed by shape focusing via recrystallization and further growth via atomic addition.We also investigated the detailed surface structure of the nanobars using aberration-corrected scanning TEM and found that the exposed{100}surfaces contained several types of defects such as an adatom island,a vacancy pit,and atomic steps.Upon thermal annealing,the nanobars evolved into a more thermodynamically favored shape with enhanced truncation at the corners.Byungkwon Lim Hirokazu Kobayashi Pedro H.G.Camargo Lawrence F.Allard Jingyue Liu Younan Xia 2010Nano Research2010,3,3:3
11Research on the Structural Rigidity Characteristics of a Reconfigurable TBM Thrust Mechanism显示文摘To improve the adaptability of TBMs in diverse geological environments,this paper proposes a reconfigurable Type-V thrust mechanism(V-TM)with rearrangeable working states,in which structural stiffness can be automatically altered during operation.Therefore,millions of configurations can be obtained,and thousands of instances of working status per configuration can be set respectively.Nonetheless,the complexity of configurations and diversity of working states contributes to further complications for the structural stiffness algorithm.This results in challenges such as difficulty calculating the payload compliance index and the environment adaptability index.To solve this problem,we use the configuration matrix to describe the relationship between propelling jacks under reconfiguration and adopt pattern vectors to describe the working state of each hydraulic cylinder.Then,both the dynamic compatible equation between propeller forces of the hydraulic cylinders and driving forces,and the kinematic harmonizing equation between the hydraulic cylinder displacements and their deformations are established.Next,we derive the stiffness analytical equation using Hooke’s law and the Jacobian Matrix.The proposed approach provides an effective algorithm to support structural rigidity analysis,and lays a solid theoretical foundation for calculating the performance indexes of the V-TM.We then analyze the rigidity characteristics of typical configurations under different working states,and obtain the main factors affecting structural stiffness of the V-TM.The results show the deviation degree of structural parameters in hydraulic cylinders within the same group,and the working status of propelling jacks.Finally,our constructive conclusions contribute valuable information for matching and optimization by drawing on the factors that affect the structural rigidity of the V-TM.Younan Xu Xinjun Liu Jiyu Xu 2019Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2019,32,6:2
