| 1 | Microstructure, Mechanical Properties, Corrosion Behavior and Biocompatibility of As-Extruded Biodegradable Mg–3Sn–1Zn–0.5Mn Alloy显示文摘The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of biodegradable Mg–3Sn–1Zn–0.5Mn alloys were investigated by the optical microscopy, X-ray diffractometer and a universal material testing machine.The corrosion and degradation behaviors were studied by potentiodynamic polarization method and immersion test in a simulated body fluid(SBF). It was found that the as-extruded Mg–3Sn–1Zn–0.5Mn alloy has the fine equiaxed grains which underwent complete dynamic recrystallization during the hot extrusion process, with the second phase particles of Mg_2Sn precipitated on the grain boundaries and inside the grains. The tensile strength and elongation of as-extruded Mg–3Sn–1Zn–0.5Mn alloys were 244 ± 3.7 MPa and 19.3% ± 1.7%, respectively. The potentiodynamic polarization curves in SBF solution indicated the better corrosion resistance of the as-extruded Mg–3Sn–1Zn–0.5Mn alloy in the SBF solution. Immersion test in the SBF solution for 720 h revealed that the corrosion rate of as-extruded Mg–3Sn–1Zn–0.5Mn alloy was nearly 4 ± 0.33 mm/year. The hemolysis rate of as-extruded Mg–3Sn–1Zn–0.5Mn alloy was lower than the safe value of 5% according to ISO 10993-4. As-extruded Mg–3Sn–1Zn–0.5Mn alloy showed good biocompatibility after being implanted into the dorsal muscle and the femoral shaft of the rabbit, and no abnormalities were found after short-term implantation. | 2 | In vitro and in vivo studies on biodegradable magnesium alloy显示文摘The microstructure, mechanical property, electrochemical behavior and biocompatibility of magnesium alloy(Bio De MSM^(TM)) were studied in the present work. The experimental results demonstrated that grain refining induced by extrusion improves the alloy strength significantly from162 MPa for the as-cast alloy to 241 MPa for the as-extruded one. The anticorrosion properties of the as-extruded alloy also increased.Furthermore, the hemolysis ratio was decreased from 4.7% for the as-cast alloy to 2.9% for the as-extruded one, both below 5%. Bio De MSM^(TM)alloy shows good biocompatibility after being implanted into the dorsal muscle and the femoral shaft of the New Zealand rabbit, respectively, and there are no abnormalities after short-term implantation. | 3 | Microstructure and mechanical properties at elevated temperature of Mg-Al-Ni alloys prepared through powder metallurgy显示文摘Mg-Al-Ni alloys were prepared by powder metallurgy, and their microstructure and elevated temperature mechanical properties were investigated. Results indicate that, in addition to α-Mg matrix, both coarse Al_3Ni_2 particles and fine Al Ni nano-particles exist in the Mg-Al-Ni alloys. The strength at 150?C is improved with the increase in Ni content. Mg-18.3Al-8Ni alloy possesses a compressive strength of234.7 MPa and a yield strength of 146.5 MPa. Plasticity is also improved with a low concentration of Ni. Mg-11.3Al-2Ni alloy possesses a compression ratio of 17.3%. The phases of Al_3Ni_2 and Al Ni in the alloys block the movements of grain boundaries and dislocations during the deformation at elevated temperature. The existence of Al Ni phase provides a non-basal slip system, leading to the improvement in plasticity. | 11 | Conservative Treatment of Fetal Goitrous Hypothyroidism Due to Thyroglobulin Mutations:A Case Report and Literature Review显示文摘With the advances in fetal medicine,there will be more cases of congenital hypothyroidism(CH)diagnosed in the fetal period.However,there is no consensus on the management protocol.We present a successful case of conservatively managed fetal goitrous hypothyroidism due to compound heterozygous TG mutations.Goiter was observed in a fetus at 23 weeks of gestation.Because there was no evidence of transplacental passage of antithyroid antibody and drugs,iodine overload,and iodine deficiency,the fetus was highly suspected to have CH.Considering the potential risks of amniocentesis/cordocentesis,and lack of available parenteral levothyroxine in China,the fetus was closely monitored thereafter.A male neonate was delivered vaginally without complications at 39 weeks of gestation.We verified severe hypothyroidism in the infant and immediately initiated levothyroxine therapy.His growth and mental development were normal at the age of 8 month.Whole-exome sequencing showed that the neonate had two compound heterozygous mutations in the TG gene.We also performed a literature review of the prognosis of postnatal treatment of CH due to TG mutations and the result showed that postnatal treatment of CH due to TG mutations has a favorable prognosis.However,further prospective studies are warranted to verify this conclusion. | Shiping Liu Wei Bai Ying Gao Chunyan Shi Lixin Fan Junya Chen Jian Shi Weije Sun Xinlin Hou Huixia Yang | 2023 | Maternal-Fetal Medicine2023,5,3: | 0 |
| 12 | Predicting Risk of Mortality in Pediatric ICU Based on Ensemble Step-Wise Feature Selection显示文摘Background.Prediction of mortality risk in intensive care units(ICU)is an important task.Data-driven methods such as scoring systems,machine learning methods,and deep learning methods have been investigated for a long time.However,few datadriven methods are specially developed for pediatric ICU.In this paper,we aim to amend this gap—build a simple yet effective linear machine learning model from a number of hand-crafted features for mortality prediction in pediatric ICU.Methods.We use a recently released publicly available pediatric ICU dataset named pediatric intensive care(PIC)from Children’s Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine in China.Unlike previous sophisticated machine learning methods,we want our method to keep simple that can be easily understood by clinical staffs.Thus,an ensemble step-wise feature ranking and selection method is proposed to select a small subset of effective features from the entire feature set.A logistic regression classifier is built upon selected features for mortality prediction.Results.The final predictive linear model with 11 features achieves a 0.7531 ROC-AUC score on the hold-out test set,which is comparable with a logistic regression classifier using all 397 features(0.7610 ROC-AUC score)and is higher than the existing well known pediatric mortality risk scorer PRISM III(0.6895 ROC-AUC score).Conclusions.Our method improves feature ranking and selection by utilizing an ensemble method while keeping a simple linear form of the predictive model and therefore achieves better generalizability and performance on mortality prediction in pediatric ICU. | Shenda Hong Xinlin Hou Jin Jing Wendong Ge Luxia Zhang | 2021 | Health Data Science2021,,1: | 0 |
