| 1 | Superatomic Aub clusters ligated by different N-heterocyclic carbenes and their ligand-dependent catalysis, photoluminescence, and proton sensitivity显示文摘We report herein a class of superatomic AU13 clusters stabilized by different N-heterocyclic carbenes(NHCs).The clusters show diverse metal surface structures,properties and functions as exemplified by:(1)the first anionic AU13 cluster[Au1g(NHC-1)sBr6],which has bulky NHC-1 ligands that lead to a rather open metal surface contributing to its high catalytic activity;(2)the tricationic cluster[Au13(NHC-2)sBr2]+which has bidentate,benzyl-rich NHC-2 ligands that make it ultra-stable and highly-luminescent,suitable for bio-imaging;and(3)by bearing two pyridyl groups on NHC-3,the dicationic cluster[Au:a(NHC-3)gClg]f+exhibits reversible and stable visible absorption and solubility responses to protonation/deprotonation cycles,making it a potential pH sensor(NHC-1=1,3-disopropylbenzimidazolin-ylidene;NHC-2=1,3-bis(1-benzyl-1H-benzimidazol-1-ium-yl)propane;NHC-3=1,3-bis(icolyI)benzimidazolin-ylidene).The study nicely demonstrates the importance of ligands in designing metal nanoclusters with desired functionalities. | Hui Shen Sijin Xiang Zhen Xu Chen Liu Xihua Li Cunfa Sun Shuichao Lin Boon K.Teo Nanfeng Zheng | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,7: | 6 |

| 4 | Knockdown of insulin-like growth factor 2 gene disrupts mitochondrial functions in the liver显示文摘Even though insulin-like growth factor 2(IGF2)has been reported to be overexpressed in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),its role in the progression of NAFLD and the potential mechanism remain largely unclear.Using in vitro models,we found that IGF2 was the key overexpressed gene in steatosis,suggesting a possible association between IGF2 and NAFLD.Interestingly,loss-of-function experiments revealed that inhibition of IGF2 protein impaired mitochondrial biogenesis and respiration.It additionally disrupted the expression changes of mitochondrial fusion and fission-related proteins necessary in maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis.Consistently,IGF2 knockdown reduced the mitochondrial membrane potential and increased the production of reactive oxygen species.Mechanistically,IGF2 regulates mitochondrial functions by modulating the expression of SIRT1 and its downstream gene PGCla.This research opens a new frontier on the role of IGF2 in energy metabolism,which potentially participates in the development of NAFLD.As such,IGF2 is a potential therapeutic target against NAFLD. | Weiwei Gui Yiyi Zhu Shuiya Sun Weifen Zhu Bowen Tan Hanxin Zhao Chengxin Shang Fenping Zheng Xihua Lin Hong Li | 2021 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2021,13,8: | 1 |
| 5 | The underappreciated role of fugitive VOCs in ozone formation and health risk assessment emitted from seven typical industries in China显示文摘Fugitive emission from industrial sources may result in ozone formation and health risk,while the exact contribution of this source remains incompletely understood.In this study,emission characteristics,ozone formation potential(OFP)and health risk of fugitive VOCs in7 representative industries were investigated.Chemical material industry was the dominant contributor to VOCs of fugitive emission in comparison with other industries.The OFP of VOCs from fugitive emission was in the range of 1.45×10^(3)-3.98×10^(5)μg/m^(3),with a higher value than that of organized emission in seven industries except for the coking industry and the chemical material industry,suggesting that fugitive VOCs should be taken into account while developing control strategies.Acetaldehyde,m,p-xylene,n-nonane,ethylene,vinyl chloridethe and other high OFP-contributing species were the major reactive species that should be targeted.Health risk assessment investigated non-cancer and cancer risks of fugitive VOCs in 7 industries were all above safe level(HR>1 and LCR>1×10^(-4)),posing remarkable health threats to human health.OVOCs were the main contributor to non-cancer risk,while halohydrocarbons and aromatics contributed most to cancer risks,posing remarkable health threat on human health.Our findings highlighted the contribution of fugitive VOCs on ozone formation and health risk was underestimated,indicating which should be considered in emission control strategies of industrial sources. | Zhiling Liang Yunjiang Yu Bingbing Sun Qian Yao Xihua Lin Yongsheng Wang Jianping Zhang Yingzi Li Xuefeng Wang Zhengzheng Tang Shexia Ma | 2024 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,2: | 0 |
| 6 | Regulation mechanism and pathogenic role of lncRNA plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) in human diseases显示文摘Plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene identified as a recurrent breakpoint of Burkitt’s lymphomas. Human PVT1 gene is located on region 8q24.21, a well-known cancer risk region, and encodes at least 26 linear ncRNA isoforms and 26 circular RNA isoforms, as well as 6 microRNAs. Several PVT1 functioning models have been reported recently such as competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) activity and regulating protein stability of oncogenes, especially MYC oncogene. The promoter of PVT1 gene is a boundary element of tumor-suppressor DNA. CircPVT1 derived from PVT1 gene is also a critical non-coding oncogenic RNA. Although substantial advancements have been made in understanding the roles of PVT1 in cancer recently, the detailed mechanisms underlying its functions remain unclear. Herein, we summarize the recent progressions on the mechanisms underlying PVT1 regulated gene expression at different levels. | 7 | Integrated sensing and communication in an optical fibre显示文摘The integration of high-speed optical communication and distributed sensing could bring intelligent functionalities to ubiquitous optical fibre networks,such as urban structure imaging,ocean seismic detection,and safety monitoring of underground embedded pipelines.This work demonstrates a scheme of integrated sensing and communication in an optical fibre(ISAC-OF)using the same wavelength channel for simultaneous data transmission and distributed vibration sensing.The scheme not only extends the intelligent functionality for optical fibre communication system,but also improves its transmission performance.A periodic linear frequency modulation(LFM)light is generated to act as the optical carrier and sensing probe in PAM4 signal transmission and phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometry(Φ-OTDR),respectively.After a 24.5 km fibre transmission,the forward PAM4 signal and the carriercorrespondence Rayleigh backscattering signal are detected and demodulated.Experimental results show that the integrated solution achieves better transmission performance(~1.3 dB improvement)and a larger launching power(7 dB enhancement)at a 56 Gbit/s bit rate compared to a conventional PAM4 signal transmission.Meanwhile,a 4m spatial resolution,4.32-nε/√Hz strain resolution,and over 21 kHz frequency response for the vibration sensing are obtained.The proposed solution offers a new path to further explore the potential of existing or future fibre-optic networks by the convergence of data transmission and status sensing.In addition,such a scheme of using shared spectrum in communication and distributed optical fibre sensing may be used to measure non-linear parameters in coherent optical communications,offering possible benefits for data transmission. | Haijun He Lin Jiang Yan Pan Anlin Yi Xihua Zou Wei Pan Alan E.Willner Xinyu Fan Zuyuan He Lianshan Yan | 2023 | Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,5: | 0 |
