1Recent Advances in Self-Supported Layered Double Hydroxides for Oxygen Evolution Reaction显示文摘Electrochemical water splitting driven by clean and sustainable energy sources to produce hydrogen is an efficient and environmentally friendly energy conversion technology.Water splitting involves hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER),in which OER is the limiting factor and has attracted extensive research interest in the past few years.Conventional noble-metal-based OER electrocatalysts like IrO_(2) and RuO_(2) suffer from the limitations of high cost and scarce availability.Developing innovative alternative nonnoble metal electrocatalysts with high catalytic activity and long-term durability to boost the OER process remains a significant challenge.Among all of the candidates for OER catalysis,selfsupported layered double hydroxides(LDHs)have emerged as one of the most promising types of electrocatalysts due to their unique layered structures and high electrocatalytic activity.In this review,we summarize the recent progress on self-supported LDHs and highlight their electrochemical catalytic performance.Specifically,synthesis methods,structural and compositional parameters,and influential factors for optimizing OER performance are discussed in detail.Finally,the remaining challenges facing the development of self-supported LDHs are discussed and perspectives on their potential for use in industrial hydrogen production through water splitting are provided to suggest future research directions.Libo Wu Luo Yu Xin Xiao Fanghao Zhang Shaowei Song Shuo Chen Zhifeng Ren 2020Research2020,,1:7
2Chemical compound cinobufotalin potently induces FOXO1-stimulated cisplatin sensitivity by antagonizing its binding partner MYH9显示文摘In this study,we present novel molecular mechanisms by which FOXO1 functions as a tumor suppressor to prevent the pathogenesis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).First,we observed that FOXO1 not only controlled tumor stemness and metastasis,but also sensitized NPC cells to cisplatin(DDP)in vitro and in vivo.Mechanistic studies demonstrated that FOXO1-induced miR-200b expression through the GSK3β/β-catenin/TCF4 network-mediated stimulation of ZEB1,which reduced tumor stemness and the epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT)signal.Furthermore,we observed FOXO1 interaction with MYH9 and suppression of MYH9 expression by modulating the PI3K/AKT/c-Myc/P53/miR-133a-3p pathway.Decreased MYH9 expression not only reduced its interactions with GSK3β,but also attenuated TRAF6 expression,which then decreased the ubiquitin-mediated degradation of GSK3βprotein.Increased GSK3βexpression stimulated theβ-catenin/TCF4/ZEB1/miR-200b network,which increased the downstream tumor stemness and EMT signals.Subsequently,we observed that chemically synthesized cinobufotalin(CB)strongly increased FOXO1-induced DDP chemosensitivity by reducing MYH9 expression,and the reduction in MYH9 modulated GSK3β/β-catenin and its downstream tumor stemness and EMT signal in NPC.In clinical samples,the combination of low FOXO1 expression and high MYH9 expression indicated the worst overall survival rates.Our studies demonstrated that CB potently induced FOXO1-mediated DDP sensitivity by antagonizing its binding partner MYH9 to modulate tumor stemness in NPC.YongHao Li Xiong Liu Xian Lin Menyang Zhao Yanyi Xiao Chen Liu Zixi Liang Zelong Lin Renhui Yi Zibo Tang Jiahao Liu Xin Li Qingping Jiang Libo Li Yinyin Xie Zhen Liu Weiyi Fang 2019Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2019,4,1:6

4Embedded whispering-gallery mode microsphere resonator in a tapered hollow annular core fiber显示文摘We propose and demonstrate a tapered hollow annular core fiber (HACF) coupler for excitation of whisperinggallery modes (WGMs) of an embedded microsphere resonator. The coupler is simply fabricated by fusion splicing of a segment of HACF with the single-mode fiber (SMF), and then improved by tapering the splicing joint to reduce the cone-apex angle. Therefore, the coupling efficiency from the SMF to the HACF is enhanced to excite various WGMs via evanescent field coupling. Normal positive, negative symmetrical Lorentzian and asymmetric Fano line shapes can be obtained by varying the resonator size and location. Another interesting phenomenon is observed that a higher Q-factor mode in a lower Q-factor mode has a contrast as high as 58. Temperature sensing with good stability is also demonstrated. 12Injectable nanofiber-reinforced bone cement with controlled biodegradability for minimally-invasive bone regeneration显示文摘Injectable materials show their special merits in regeneration of damaged/degenerated bones in minimally-invasive approach.Injectable calcium phosphate bone cement(CPC)has attracted broad attention for its bioactivity,as compared to non-degradable polymethyl methacrylate cement.However,its brittleness,poor anti-washout property and uncontrollable biodegradability are the main challenges to limit its further clinical application mainly because of its stone-like dense structure and fragile inorganic-salt weakness.Herein,we developed a kind of injectable CPC bone cement with porous structure and improved robustness by incorporating poly(lactide-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)nanofiber into CPC,with carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC)to offer good injectability as well as anti-wash-out capacity.Furthermore,the introduction of PLGA and CMC also enabled a formation of initial porous structure in the cements,where PLGA nanofiber endowed the cement with a dynamically controllable biodegradability which provided room for cell movement and bone ingrowth.Inter-estingly,the reinforced biodegradable cement afforded a sustainable provision of Ca^(2+)bioactive components,together with its porous structure,to improve synergistically new bone formation and osteo-integration in vivo by using a rat model of femur condyle defect.Further study on regenerative mechanisms indicated that the good minimally-invasive bone regeneration may come from the synergistic enhanced osteogenic effect of calcium ion enrichment and the improved revascularization capacity contributed from the porosity as well as the lactic acid released from PLGA nanofiber.These results indicate the injectable bone cement with high strength,anti-washout property and controllable biodegradability is a promising candidate for bone regeneration in a minimally-invasive approach.Peihao Cai Shunyi Lu Jieqin Yu Lan Xiao Jiayi Wang Haifeng Liang Lei Huang Guanjie Han Mengxuan Bian Shihao Zhang Jian Zhang Changsheng Liu Libo Jiang Yulin Li 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,3:1

14The role of information quality in designing effective nutrition education programs for pecans显示文摘Pecans have many health benefits and are known for being part of a heart-healthy diet.Nutrition education is a key component in increasing pecan consumption among young consumers.In an effort to improve the efficacy of nutrition education targeting a younger demographic,this study aims to investigate how the information quality of a nutrition education program affects consumers'nutrition knowledge,trust,and intentions to recommend and try pecans.A total of 271 usable questionnaires were collected from college students at a southeast university.Our findings indicate that information quality could directly influence consumer knowledge and trust in an information source and indirectly influences consumers'willingness to recommend or try a product.This study also showed that improved consumer knowledge and trust in an information source could strongly affect their willingness to recommend pecan products.The findings of this study can be used to increase the efficacy of educational marketing strategies in the pecan industry and drive an increase in consumption among younger populations.Amy Szacilo Xiao Tong Libo Tan Hsiangting Chen Lingyan Kong 2023Food Innovation and Advances2023,2,2:0
15Highly efficient tunable photodetector with a bipolar response in van der Waals heterojunctions显示文摘The heterojunction integration of two-dimensional(2D)materials via van der Waals(vdW)forces,unencumbered by lattice and processing constraints,constitutes an efficacious approach to enhance the overall optoelectronic performance of photodetectors,due to an assortment of distinctive light-matter interactions.Nonetheless,vdW heterojunction photodetectors based on transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)face an inevitable trade-off between low dark currents and high responsivity,curtailing the application potential of myriad novel optoelectronic components in sensing,spectral,and communication systems.In this study,we present the successful actualization of a highly sensitive,self-powered,and gate-tunable bipolar response photodetector.The mechanisms underlying photocurrent generation were scrutinized via bias-,power-,and position-dependent mapping photoresponse measurements,identifying the photovoltaic effect,which is attributable to the Schottky junction’s built-in electric field,as the predominant mechanism.The prototype Au-WS2-graphene photodetector exhibits a remarkable light on/off ratio of 1.2×10^(6),a specific detectivity of 6.12×10^(11)cm H^(z1/2)W^(-1)with 20μs response time at 638 nm.The wide gate-tunable responsivity provides an adjustability scope,ranging from 0.9 to 3.1 A W^(-1).Notably,the device demonstrates an exceptional linear photocurrent response,with a linear dynamic range(LDR)value approximating 130 dB,which significantly surpasses that of other photodetectors based on TMDs.SHI ChaoFan ZHANG Shi XIAO KeNing ZHANG LiBo HAN Li ZHU YuLin TANG WeiWei LIU ChangLong LI GuanHai CHEN XiaoShuang 2024Science China(Technological Sciences)2024,67,2:0
16The Spatiotemporal Distribution Characteristics of Cloud Types and Phases in the Arctic Based on CloudSat and CALIPSO Cloud Classification Products显示文摘The cloud type product 2B-CLDCLASS-LIDAR based on CloudSat and CALIPSO from June 2006 to May 2017 is used to examine the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics and interannual variability of eight cloud types(high cloud, altostratus, altocumulus, stratus, stratocumulus, cumulus, nimbostratus, and deep convection) and three phases(ice,mixed, and water) in the Arctic. Possible reasons for the observed interannual variability are also discussed. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) More water clouds occur on the Atlantic side, and more ice clouds occur over continents.(2)The average spatial and seasonal distributions of cloud types show three patterns: high clouds and most cumuliform clouds are concentrated in low-latitude locations and peak in summer;altostratus and nimbostratus are concentrated over and around continents and are less abundant in summer;stratocumulus and stratus are concentrated near the inner Arctic and peak during spring and autumn.(3) Regional averaged interannual frequencies of ice clouds and altostratus clouds significantly decrease, while those of water clouds, altocumulus, and cumulus clouds increase significantly.(4) Significant features of the linear trends of cloud frequencies are mainly located over ocean areas.(5) The monthly water cloud frequency anomalies are positively correlated with air temperature in most of the troposphere, while those for ice clouds are negatively correlated.(6) The decrease in altostratus clouds is associated with the weakening of the Arctic front due to Arctic warming, while increased water vapor transport into the Arctic and higher atmospheric instability lead to more cumulus and altocumulus clouds.Yue SUN Huiling YANG Hui XIAO Liang FENG Wei CHENG Libo ZHOU Weixi SHU Jingzhe SUN 2024Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2024,41,2:0
17Antioxidant properties and sensory evaluation of microgreens from commercial and local farms显示文摘Microgreens are young and tender vegetables or herbs that provide attractive color,flavor,and nutrition.The purpose of this study was to evaluate the nutritional and sensory qualities of broccoli microgreens grown by different methods(hydroponically vs.soil grown)and from different sources(commercial vs.local farm).No significant difference in total phenolic concentration and antioxidant capacity was found in all broccoli microgreens,but a significantly higher chlorophyll concentration was found in farm microgreens than the commercial ones.Moreover,the soil-grown farm microgreens possessed a significantly higher vitamin C concentration than hydroponically-grown farm sample and commercial sample.Participants in the sensory study favored farm samples regardless of growing method,and their overall liking was significantly correlated with taste of the microgreens.In addition,six other microgreens from the local farm were analyzed for their nutritional quality.These conclusions suggested a potential for consumers to still benefit nutritionally by purchasing commercial microgreens at a lower cost;however,it may be worthwhile for consumers to purchase microgreens from local farms for a better sensory experience.Libo Tan Holly Nuffer Jiannan Feng Shu Hang Kwan Hsiangting Chen Xiao Tong Lingyan Kong 2020Food Science and Human Wellness2020,9,1:0
18Specimen size effect on the fracture energy of architected stretchable materials显示文摘Architected stretchable materials with well-organized microarchitectures evolve very rapidly due to their potential in customizing mechanical properties and achieving exotic functions.In many applications,the architected stretchable materials are required to sustain large deformation,and their fracture is size-dependent.However,the size effect on the fracture of architected stretchable materials is still elusive.Here,we study this issue by experiment and finite element calculation.It is found that the fracture energy of architected stretchable materials increases with the specimen size ratio,H/h,within a range.When H/h reaches a transition ratio,Rt,the fracture energy approaches a plateau.This transition ratio differentiates the size-dependent and size-independent fracture behavior of architected stretchable materials.The mechanical properties of constituent material only have a minor effect on the transition ratio.The degree of constraint and stress concentration at the node,which are affected by the geometry of the unit-cell,dominate the specimen size effect.The result gives a practical guidance in choosing the specimen size to measure the steady state fracture energy of this class of materials.This work provides insights into the fracture of architected stretchable materials and design for fractureresistant architected stretchable devices.Xiao Li Libo Men Yilin Yu Zhaoyang Hou Zhengjin Wang 2023International Journal of Smart and Nano Materials2023,14,4:0
19Photoisomerization,assembling and fluorescence photoswitching behaviors of a water-soluble stiff-stilbene with cucurbit[7]uril显示文摘Photoresponsive supramolecular systems have merited extensive attention for their applications in materials science and life science.Here,we synthesized a water-soluble stiff-stilbene molecular photoswitch,exhibiting outstanding photoisomerization reaction between its(E)-and(Z)-configurations upon irradiation at distinct light.The photoswitch can assemble with cucurbit[7]uril(CB[7])to form a superior fluorescent supramolecular complex(compared to the only guest)with excellent water solubility,which manifested dramatic photoluminescence enhancement caused by restriction of intramolecular rotation and remained good photochromic characteristics.Furthermore,introduction of CB[7]influence photoreaction quantum yield(Φ)of the stiff-stilbene,leading to reduction ofΦ_(E→Z) and increase ofΦ_(Z→E) of the stiff-stilbene.Importantly,the photoadjustable supramolecular assembly can act as a fluorescence switch,and the phototunable guest further selectively modulate G-quadruplex structure of Tel22 upon light irradiation or with addition of CB[7].The study provides a new simple way for accurately regulating photochromic properties of molecular switches and developing smart materials with potential applications in controlled modulation of G-quadruplex,targeted biological imaging and so on.Liangru Yang Yixin Li Haifan Zhang Changming Tian Qiaohong Cao Yongmei Xiao Libo Yuan Guoxing Liu 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,8:0
20Traffic Distribution of Circular Sailing Routing in Dense Multihop Wireless Networks显示文摘Shortest path routing protocol intends to minimize the total delay between every pair of destination node and source node. However, it is also well-known that shortest path routing suffers from uneven distribution of traffic load, especially in dense wireless networks. Recently, several new routing protocols are proposed in order to balance traffic load among nodes in a network. One of them is Circular Sailing Routing (CSR) which maps nodes on the surface of a sphere and select routes based on surface distances. CSR has been demonstrated with better load balance than shortest path routing via simulations. However, it is still open that what load distribution CSR can achieve. Therefore, in this paper, we theoretically analyze the traffic load distribution of CSR in a dense circular wireless network. Using the techniques developed by Hytti and Virtamo, we are able to derive the traffic load of any point inside the network.
