| 1 | Using multivariate adaptive regression splines to develop relationship between rock quality designation and permeability显示文摘The assessment of in situ permeability of rock mass is challenging for large-scale projects such as reservoirs created by dams,where water tightness issues are of prime importance.The in situ permeability is strongly related to the frequency and distribution of discontinuities in the rock mass and quantified by rock quality designation(RQD).This paper analyzes the data of hydraulic conductivity and discontinuities sampled at different depths during the borehole investigations in the limestone and sandstone formations for the construction of hydraulic structures in Oman.Cores recovered from boreholes provide RQD data,and in situ Lugeon tests elucidate the permeability.A modern technique of multivariate adaptive regression splines(MARS)assisted in correlating permeability and RQD along with the depth.In situ permeability shows a declining trend with increasing RQD,and the depth of investigation is within 50 m.This type of relationship can be developed based on detailed initial investigations at the site where the hydraulic conductivity of discontinuous rocks is required to be delineated.The relationship can approximate the permeability by only measuring the RQD in later investigations on the same site,thus saving the time and cost of the site investigations.The applicability of the relationship developed in this study to another location requires a lithological similarity of the rock mass that can be verified through preliminary investigation at the site. | Mohsin Usman Qureshi Zafar Mahmood Ali Murtaza Rasool | 2022 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,4: | 1 |
| 2 | Treatment outcomes and adverse drug reactions among patients with drug-resistant tuberculosis receiving all-oral,long-term regimens:First record viewing report from Pakistan显示文摘Objective:To assess the effectiveness and adverse drug reactions of all-oral regimens for patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis.Methods:This retrospective study was conducted at 10 Programmatic Management of Drug Resistant Tuberculosis sites in Punjab province of Pakistan.Patients receiving treatment for drug resistant tuberculosis from July 2019 to December 2020 with at least interim result i.e.6th month culture conversion or final outcomes(cured,complete,lost to follow-up,failure,death)available,were included in the study.Data was extracted from electronic data management system.For the reporting and management of adverse drug events,active tuberculosis drug safety monitoring and management was implemented across all sites.All the data was analyzed using SPSS version 22.Results:Out of 947 drug resistant tuberculosis patients included in this study,579(68%)of the patients had final outcomes available.Of these,384(67.9%)successfully completed their treatment.Out of 368(32%)patients who had their interim results available,all had their 6th month culture negative.Combining new medications was thought to result in serious adverse outcomes such as QT prolongation.However,this study did not record any severe adverse events among patients.Conclusions:All-oral regimens formulation guided by overall treatment effectiveness resulted in treatment outcomes comparable to those obtained with traditional injectable treatment. | Hira Aslam Asad Omar Razia Fatima Usman Rasool Aashifa Yaqoob Waseem Ullah Aamir Khan Yusra Habib Khan Tauqeer Hussain Mallhi | 2023 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2023,16,2: | 0 |

| 4 | Reinforcing Artificial Neural Networks through Traditional Machine Learning Algorithms for Robust Classification of Cancer显示文摘Machine Learning(ML)-based prediction and classification systems employ data and learning algorithms to forecast target values.However,improving predictive accuracy is a crucial step for informed decision-making.In the healthcare domain,data are available in the form of genetic profiles and clinical characteristics to build prediction models for complex tasks like cancer detection or diagnosis.Among ML algorithms,Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs)are considered the most suitable framework for many classification tasks.The network weights and the activation functions are the two crucial elements in the learning process of an ANN.These weights affect the prediction ability and the convergence efficiency of the network.In traditional settings,ANNs assign random weights to the inputs.This research aims to develop a learning system for reliable cancer prediction by initializing more realistic weights computed using a supervised setting instead of random weights.The proposed learning system uses hybrid and traditional machine learning techniques such as Support Vector Machine(SVM),Linear Discriminant Analysis(LDA),Random Forest(RF),k-Nearest Neighbour(kNN),and ANN to achieve better accuracy in colon and breast cancer classification.This system computes the confusion matrix-based metrics for traditional and proposed frameworks.The proposed framework attains the highest accuracy of 89.24 percent using the colon cancer dataset and 72.20 percent using the breast cancer dataset,which outperforms the other models.The results show that the proposed learning system has higher predictive accuracies than conventional classifiers for each dataset,overcoming previous research limitations.Moreover,the proposed framework is of use to predict and classify cancer patients accurately.Consequently,this will facilitate the effective management of cancer patients. | Muhammad Hammad Waseem Malik Sajjad Ahmed Nadeem Ishtiaq Rasool Khan Seong-O-Shim Wajid Aziz Usman Habib | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,5: | 0 |
