| 1 | Chinese herbal medicine reduces mortality in patients with severe and critical coronavirus disease 2019: a retrospective cohort study显示文摘This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine(CHM)in patients with severe/critical coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).In this retrospective study, data were collected from 662 patients with severe/critical COVID-19 who were admitted to a designated hospital to treat patients with severe COVID-19 in Wuhan before March 20,2020.All patients were divided into an exposed group(CHM users)and a control group(non-users).After propensity score matching in a 1:1 ratio,156 CHM users were matched by propensity score to 156 non-users.No significant differences in seven baseline clinical variables were found between the two groups of patients.All-cause mortality was reported in 13 CHM users who died and 36 non-users who died. After multivariate adjustment, the mortality risk of CHM users was reduced by 82.2%(odds ratio 0.178,95%CI 0.076–0.418;P<0.001)compared with the non-users.Secondly,age(odds ratio 1.053,95%CI 1.023–1.084;P<0.001)and the proportion of severe/critical patients(odds ratio 0.063,95%CI 0.028–0.143;P<0.001)were the risk factors of mortality. These results show that the use of CHM may reduce the mortality of patients with severe/critical COVID-19. | Guohua Chen Wen Su Jiayao Yang Dan Luo Ping Xia Wen Jia Xiuyang Li Chuan Wang Suping Lang Qingbin Meng Ying Zhang Yuhe Ke An Fan Shuo Yang Yujiao Zheng Xuepeng Fan Jie Qiao Fengmei Lian Li Wei Xiaolin Tong | 2020 | Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6: | 10 |
| 2 | Evaluation of Three Harvest Control Rules for Bigeye Tuna(Thunnus obesus) Fisheries in the Indian Ocean显示文摘The stock of Bigeye tuna(Thunnus obesus) in the Indian Ocean supports an important international fishery and is considered to be fully exploited. The responsible management agency, the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission(IOTC), does not have an explicit management decision-making framework in place to prevent over-fishing. In this study, we evaluated three harvest control rules, i) constant fishing mortality(CF), from 0.2 to 0.6, ii) constant catch(CC), from 60000 to 140000 t, and iii) constant escapement(CE), from 0.3 to 0.7. The population dynamics simulated by the operating model was based on the most recent stock assessment using Stock Synthesis version Ⅲ(SS3). Three simulation scenarios(low, medium and high productivity) were designed to cover possible uncertainty in the stock assessment and biological parameters. Performances of three harvest control rules were compared on the basis of three management objectives(over 3, 10 and 25 years): i) the probability of maintaining spawning stock biomass above a level that can sustain maximum sustainable yield(MSY) on average, ii) the probability of achieving average catches between 0.8 MSY and 1.0 MSY, and iii) inter-annual variability in catches. The constant escapement strategy(CE=0.5), constant fishing mortality strategy(F=0.4) and constant catch(CC=80000) were the most rational among the respective management scenarios. It is concluded that the short-term annual catch is suggested at 80000 t, and the potential total allowable catch for a stable yield could be set at 120000 t once the stock had recovered successfully. All the strategies considered in this study to achieve a ‘tolerable' balance between resource conservation and utilization have been based around the management objectives of the IOTC. | TONG Yuhe CHEN Xinjun Dale Kolody | 2014 | Journal of Ocean University of China2014,13,5: | 1 |
| 3 | A new regional vegetation mapping method based on terrain-climate-remote sensing and its application on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau显示文摘Understanding the impact of climate change on vegetation and its evolution trend requires long-term accurate data on regional vegetation types and their geographical distribution.Currently, land use and land cover types are mainly obtained based on remote sensing information.Little research has been conducted on remote sensing interpretation of vegetation types and their geographical distributions in terms of the comprehensive utilization of remote sensing, climate, and terrain.A new region vegetation mapping method based on terrain-climate-remote sensing was developed in this study, supported by the Google Earth Engine(GEE)and the random forest algorithm, which is a new generation of earth science data and analysis application platform, together with optimal vegetation mapping features obtained from the average impure reduction method and out-of-bag error value, using different information from remote sensing, climate, and terrain. This vegetation of Qinghai-Xizang Plateau with 10 m spatial resolution in 2020 was mapped,in terms of this new vegetation mapping method,Sentinel-2A/B remotely sensed images, climate, and terrain. The accuracy verification of vegetation mapping on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau showed an overall accuracy of 89.5%and a Kappa coefficient of 0.87.The results suggest that the regional vegetation mapping method based on terrain-climate-remote sensing proposed in this study can provide technical support for obtaining long-term accurate data on vegetation types and their geographical distributions on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau and the globe. | Guangsheng ZHOU Hongrui REN Tong LIU Li ZHOU Yuhe JI Xingyang SONG Xiaomin LV | 2023 | Science China Earth Sciences2023,66,2: | 0 |
| 4 | Review on marine collagen peptides induce cancer cell apoptosis, necrosis, and autophagy by reducing oxidized free radicals显示文摘Marine collagen peptides(MCPs)are natural products prepared by hydrolyzing marine collagen protein through a variety of chemical methods or enzymes.MCPs have a range of structures and biological activities and are widely present in marine species.MCPs also have a small molecular weight, are easily modified, and absorbed by the body. These properties have attracted great interest from researchers studying antioxidant,anti-tumor,and anti-aging activities.MCPs of specific molecular weights have significant anti-tumor activity and no toxic side effects. Thus,MCPs have the potential use as anti-cancer adjuvant drugs.Free radicals produced by oxidation are closely related to human aging, cancer, arteriosclerosis, and other diseases, but their relationship with cancer is not well known. In this review,we focus on the antioxidant properties of MCPs in the treatment of cancer, highlighting their antioxidant molecular structure and potential for clinical practice. | YINGHUA LUO YU ZHANG TONG ZHANG YANNAN LI HUI XUE JINGLONG CAO WENSHUANG HOU JIAN LIU YUHE CUI TING XU CHENGHAO JIN | 2023 | BIOCELL2023,47,5: | 0 |
