1Subcycle control of terahertz waveform polarization using all-optically induced transient metamaterials显示文摘Coherent radiation with frequencies ranging from 0.3 to 30 THz has recently become accessible using femtosecond laser technology.These terahertz(THz)waves have already been applied in spectroscopy and imaging and can be manipulated using static optical elements such as lenses,polarizers and filters.However,ultrafast modulation of THz radiation is required as well,for instance,in short-range wireless communication or for preparing shaped THz transients for the coherent control of numerous material excitations.Here,we demonstrate an all-optically created transient metamaterial that allows us to manipulate the polarization of THz waveforms with subcycle switch-on times.The polarization-modulated pulses are potentially interesting for controlling elementary motions such as the vibration of crystal lattices,the rotation of molecules and the precession of spins.N Kamaraju Andrea Rubano Linke Jian Surajit Saha T Venkatesan Jan Notzold R Kramer Campen Martin Wolf Tobias Kampfrath 2014Light(Science & Applications)2014,3,1:5

8Stimulation of TNF receptor type 2 expands regulatory T cells and ameliorates established collagen-induced arthritis in mice显示文摘Tumor necrosis factor(TNF)and its receptors TNF receptor type 1(TNFR1)and type 2(TNFR2)have a central role in chronic inflammatory diseases.While TNFR1 mainly confers inflammation,activation of TNFR2 elicits not only pro-inflammatory but also anti-inflammatory effects.In this study,we wanted to investigate the anti-inflammatory therapeutic potential of selective activation of TNFR2 in mice with established collageninduced arthritis.Mice with established arthritis induced by immunization with bovine collagen type II were treated with six injections of the TNFR2-specific agonist TNCscTNF80,given every second day.Two days after treatment cessation,the cell compositions of bone marrow,spleen and lymph nodes were analyzed.Mice were visually scored until day 30 after the start of therapy and the degree of joint inflammation was determined by histology.Treatment with TNCscTNF80 increased arthritis-induced myelopoiesis.Little effect was seen on the infiltration rate of inflammatory immature myeloid cells and on the reduction of lymphoid cells in secondary lymphoid organs.Upon treatment,frequency of regulatory T(Treg)cells in the CD4+T-cell population was increased in both spleen and inguinal lymph nodes.In addition,the expression of TNFR2 on Treg cells was enhanced.The clinical score started to improve 1 week after cessation treatment and remained lower 30 days after initiation of therapy.The histological score also revealed amelioration of joint inflammation in TNCscTNF80-treated versus control mice.Activation of TNFR2 might provide a suitable therapeutic strategy in autoimmune arthritis by increasing the numbers of regulatory cell types,in particular Treg cells,and by attenuation of arthritis.Vanessa Lamontain Tobias Schmid Dorothea Weber-Steffens David Zeller Zsuzsa Jenei-Lanzl Harald Wajant Rainer H Straub Daniela N Männel 2019Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,1:1

19Triose phosphate export from chloroplasts and cellular sugar content regulate anthocyanin biosynthesis during high light acclimation显示文摘Plants have evolvedmultiple strategies to cope with rapid changes in the environment.During high light(HL)acclimation,the biosynthesis of photoprotective flavonoids,such as anthocyanins,is induced.However,the exact nature of the signal and downstreamfactors forHL induction of flavonoid biosynthesis(FB)is still under debate.Here,we show that carbon fixation in chloroplasts,subsequent export of photosynthates by triose phosphate/phosphate translocator(TPT),and rapid increase in cellular sugar content permit the transcriptional and metabolic activation of anthocyanin biosynthesis during HL acclimation.In combination with genetic and physiological analysis,targeted and whole-transcriptome gene expression studies suggest that reactive oxygen species and phytohormones play only a minor role in rapid HL induction of the anthocyanin branch of FB.In addition to transcripts of FB,sugar-responsive genes showed delayed repression or induction in tpt-2 during HL treatment,and a significant overlapwith transcripts regulated by SNF1-related protein kinase 1(SnRK1)was observed,including a central transcription factor of FB.Analysis of mutants with increased and repressed SnRK1 activity suggests that sugar-induced inactivation of SnRK1 is required for HL-mediated activation of anthocyanin biosynthesis.Our study emphasizes the central role of chloroplasts as sensors for environmental changes as well as the vital function of sugar signaling in plant acclimation.Max-Emanuel Zirngibl Galileo Estopare Araguirang Anastasia Kitashova Kathrin Jahnke Tobias Rolka Christine Kühn Thomas Nägele Andreas S.Richter 2023Plant Communications2023,4,1:1
