| 1 | Effectiveness of Acupuncture on Pain, Physical Function and Health-Related Quality of Life in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Systematic Review of Quantitative Evidence显示文摘Objective: To identify and synthesize the most recent available evidence of effectiveness of acupuncture on pain, physical function and health-related quality of life(HRQoL) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis(RA). Methods: A comprehensive search of 12 Western and Chinese databases was undertaken from their inception up to end of 2016. Randomized controlled trials(RCTs), concerning patients with RA treated with needle acupuncture, written in English, Portuguese, German or Chinese were included. Primary outcomes included pain, physical function and HRQoL. Secondary outcomes included morning stiffness, functional impairment, number of tender and swollen joints and serum concentrations of inflamatory markers. Methodological quality was assessed by three independent reviewers using the standardized critical appraisal instrument from the Joanna Briggs Institute Meta-Analysis of Statistics Assessment and Review Instrument. Results: Twenty-two studies met the inclusion criteria. Of those, 9 studies were excluded after assessment of their methodological quality. The remaining 13 original RCTs included 974 patients. Ten of these studies published in China, showed favorable statistical significant effects of acupuncture in relieving symptoms of RA compared with controls. Conclusions: Evidence suggests that acupuncture interventions may have a positive effect in pain relief, physical function and HRQo L in RA patients. However, due to the heterogeneity and methodologic limitations of the studies included in this systematic review, evidence is not strong enough to produce a best practice guideline. | Susana Seca Diana Miranda Daniela Cardoso Bernice Nogueira Henry J.Greten Antonio Cabrita Manuel Alves Rodrigues | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2019,25,9: | 11 |
| 2 | Autoimmune hepatitis and anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha therapy:A single center report of 8 cases显示文摘This article describes cases of anti-tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α-induced autoimmune hepatitis and evaluates the outcome of these patients in relation to their immunosuppressive strategy. A retrospective analysis of medical records was performed in our center, in order to detect cases of autoimmune hepatitis(AIH) associated with anti-TNF biologic agents. We describe and analyze eight cases of AIH following anti-TNF therapy, 7 with infliximab and 1 with adalimumab. A distinction should be made between induction of autoimmunity and clinically evident autoimmune disease. Liver biopsy is useful in detecting the role of the TNF-α antagonist in the development of AIH. The lack of relapse after discontinuing immunosuppressive therapy favors, as in this case series, an immune-mediated drug reaction as most patients with AIH have a relapse after treatment is suspended. Although AIH related to anti-TNF therapy is rare, a baseline immunological panel along with liver function tests should be performed in all patients with autoimmune disease before starting biologics. | Susana Rodrigues Susana Lopes Fernando Magro Hélder Cardoso Ana Maria Horta e Vale Margarida Marques Eva Mariz Miguel Bernardes Joanne Lopes Fátima Carneiro Guilherme Macedo | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,24: | 9 |

| 11 | Rat cardiomyocyte H9c2(2-1)-based sulforhodamine B assay as a promising in vitro method to assess the biological component of effluent toxicity显示文摘The treatment of wastewaters is crucial to maintain the ecological status of receiving waters, and thereby guarantee the protection of aquatic life and human health.Wastewater quality evaluation is conventionally based on physicochemical parameters, but increasing attention has been paid to integrate physicochemical and biological data.Nevertheless, the regulatory use of fish in biological testing methods has been subject to various ethical and cost concerns, and in vitro cell-based assays have thus become an important topic of interest.Hence, the present study intends:(a) to evaluate the efficiency of two different sample pre-concentration techniques (lyophilisation and solid phase extraction) to assess the toxicity of municipal effluents on rat cardiomyoblast H9c2(2-1) cells, and (b) maximizing the use of the effluent sample collected,to estimate the environmental condition of the receiving environment. The gathered results demonstrate that the H9c2(2-1) sulforhodamine B-based assay is an appropriate in vitro method to assess biological effluent toxicity, and the best results were attained by lyophilising the sample as pre-treatment.Due to its response, the H9c2(2-1) cell line might be a possible alternative in vitro model for fish lethal testing to assess the toxicity of municipal effluents. The physicochemical status of the sample suggests a high potential for eutrophication, and iron exceeded the permissible level for wastewater discharge, possibly due to the addition of ferric chloride for wastewater treatment. In general, the levels of carbamazepine and sulfamethoxazole are higher than those reported for other countries, and both surpassed the aquatic protective values for long-term exposure. | Elsa T Rodrigues Susana F Nascimento Maria Joao Moreno Paulo J Oliveira Miguel A Pardal | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,10: | 0 |
