| 1 | Risk factors of infected pancreatic necrosis secondary to severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘BACKGROUND: Severe acute pancreatitis(SAP) remains a clinical challenge with considerable morbidity and mortality.An early identification of infected pancreatic necrosis(IPN), a life-threatening evolution secondary to SAP, is obliged for a more preferable prognosis. Thus, the present study was conducted to identify the risk factors of IPN secondary to SAP. METHODS: The clinical data of patients with SAP were retrospectively analyzed. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were sequentially performed to assess the associations between the variables and the development of IPN secondary to SAP. A receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was created for each of the qualified independent risk factors. RESULTS: Of the 115 eligible patients, 39(33.9%) progressed to IPN, and the overall in-hospital mortality was 11.3%(13/115).The early enteral nutrition(EEN)(P=0.0092, OR=0.264), maximum intra-abdominal pressure(IAP)(P=0.0398, OR=1.131)and maximum D-dimer level(P=0.0001, OR=1.006) in the first three consecutive days were independent risk factors associated with IPN secondary to SAP. The area under ROC curve(AUC) was 0.774 for the maximum D-dimer level in the first three consecutive days and the sensitivity was 90% and the specificity was 58% at a cut-off value of 933.5 μg/L; the AUC was 0.831 for the maximum IAP in the first three consecutive days and the sensitivity was 95% and specificity was 58%at a cut-off value of 13.5 mm Hg. | 2 | Cancer incidence and patient survival rates among the residents in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai between 2002 and 2006显示文摘With the growing threat of malignancy to health,it is necessary to analyze cancer incidence and patient survival rates among the residents in Pudong New Area of Shanghai to formulate better cancer prevention strategies.A total of 43,613 cancer patients diagnosed between 2002 and 2006 were recruited from the Pudong New Area Cancer Registry.The incidence,observed survival rate,and relative survival rate of patients grouped by sex,age,geographic area,and TNM stage were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier,life table,and Ederer II methods,respectively.Between 2002 and 2006,cancer incidence in Pudong New Area was 349.99 per 100,000 person-years,and the 10 most frequently diseased sites were the lung,stomach,colon and rectum,liver,breast,esophagus,pancreas,brain and central nervous system,thyroid,and bladder.For patients with cancers of the colon and rectum,breast,thyroid,brain and central nervous system,and bladder,the 5-year relative survival rate was greater than 40%,whereas patients with cancers of the liver and pancreas had a 5-year relative survival rate of less than 10%.The 1-year to 5-year survival rates for patients grouped by sex,age,geographic area,and TNM stage differed significantly(all P<0.001).Our results indicate that cancer incidence and patient survival in Pudong New Area vary by tumor type,sex,age,geographic area,and TNM stage. | Xiao-Pan Li Guang-Wen Cao Qiao Sun Chen Yang Bei Yan Mei-Yu Zhang Yi-Fei Fu Li-Ming Yang | 2013 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2013,32,9: | 27 |

| 5 | Induction of apoptosis by artemisinin relieving the severity of inflammation in caerulein-induced acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM:To observe the apoptosis and oncosis of pancreatic acinar cells and secondary inflammatory reaction in pancreatic tissue from rats with acute pancreatitis(AP),and the influences of artemisinin on them.METHODS:AP was induced by 4 intraperitoneal injections of caerulein at 1 h intervals.To induce apoptosis,solution of artemisinin(50 mg/kg)was given intraperitoneally 1,12,24 and 36 h after the last caerulein injection.Histological examination of impairment of pancreatic tissue and detection of serum amylase were performed to evaluate the severity of acute pancreatitis.Apoptosis and oncosis were detected with acridine orange(AO)and ethylene dibromide(EB)staining.Caspase-3 and myeloperoxidase(MPO)activity were measured by colorimetric assay.Nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)activation was detected by flow cytometry.Macrophage inflammatory protein-1α(MIP-1α)protein was measured by Western blot.Interleukin-1β(IL-1β)mRNA was detected by RT-PCR.RESULTS:Addition of artemisinin increased the number of apoptotic cells(11.7% ± 1.4% vs 6.3% ± 0.7%,P < 0.05),while reduced the number of oncotic cells(13.0% ± 2.4% vs 17.5% ± 2.2%,P < 0.05).The activity of caspase-3 speeded up(1.52 ± 0.21 vs 1.03 ± 0.08,P < 0.05),the pancreas pathological impairment was relieved(3.0 ± 0.5 vs 4.0 ± 0.5,P < 0.05)and the level of serum amylase decreased(5642 ± 721 U/dL vs 7821 ± 653 U/dL,P < 0.05).The activation of NF-κB(29% ± 4.1% vs 42% ± 5.8%),MIP-1α protein(3.7 ± 0.5 vs 5.8 ± 0.7),MPO(0.52 ± 0.06 U/g vs 0.68 ± 0.09 U/g),IL-1β mRNA(1.7 ± 0.3 vs 2.4 ± 0.4)in the apoptosis inducing group was obviously decreased(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:Inducing apoptosis can relieve pathological impairment and inflammatory reaction in AP rats. | Ming Zhao Dong-Bo Xue Biao Zheng Wei-Hui Zhang Shang-Ha Pan Bei Sun | 2007 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2007,13,42: | 14 |
| 6 | Salidroside reduces tau hyperphosphorylation via up-regulating GSK-3β phosphorylation in a tau transgenic Drosophila model of Alzheimer’s disease显示文摘Background:Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is an age-related and progressive neurodegenerative disease that causes substantial public health care burdens.Intensive efforts have been made to find effective and safe treatment against AD.Salidroside(Sal)is the main effective component of Rhodiola rosea L.,which has several pharmacological activities.The objective of this study was to investigate the efficacy of Sal in the treatment of AD transgenic Drosophila and the associated mechanisms.Methods:We used tau transgenic Drosophila line(TAU)in which tau protein is expressed in the central nervous system and eyes by the Gal4/UAS system.After feeding flies with Sal,the lifespan and locomotor activity were recorded.We further examined the appearance of vacuoles in the mushroom body using immunohistochemistry,and detected the levels of total glycogen synthase kinase 3β(t-GSK-3β),phosphorylated GSK-3β(p-GSK-3β),t-tau and p-tau in the brain by western blot analysis.Results:Our results showed that the longevity was improved in salidroside-fed Drosophila groups as well as the locomotor activity.We also observed less vacuoles in the mushroom body,upregulated level of p-GSK-3βand downregulated p-tau following Sal treatment.Conclusion:Our data presented the evidence that Sal was capable of reducing the neurodegeneration in tau transgenic Drosophila and inhibiting neuronal loss.The neuroprotective effects of Sal were associated with its up-regulation of the p-GSK-3βand down-regulation of the p-tau. | Bei Zhang Qiongqiong Li Xingkun Chu Suya Sun Shengdi Chen | 2016 | Translational Neurodegeneration2016,5,1: | 14 |

Under doubled CO2 concentration, grain yield and biomass increased, the SOD activity, vitamin C (Vc) and carotenoid (Car) content also increased; Superoxide (O2-.) generating rate decreased, relative conductivity and malondialdehyde (MDA) content significantly declined.But under doubled O3 concentration, the SOD activity, Vc and Car contents declined, resulting in imbalance of activated-oxygen production, enhanced O2-. generating rate and accelerated process of lipid peroxidation and increase in MDA content and ion leakage of leaves. The final result was decreased grain yield and plant biomass. Interactive effects of doubled CO2 and O3 concentrations on soybean were mostly counteractive. | 9 | Factors predisposing to severe acute pancreatitis:evaluation and prevention显示文摘AIM: To analyze factors predisposing to the infections associated with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) and to work out ways for its prevention.METHODS: Total 208 cases of SAP treated in this hospital from Jan. 1980 to Dec. 2001 were retrospectively analyzed.RESULTS: Statistical difference in the incidence of the aforementioned infections was found between the following pairs: between the groups of bloody or non-bloody ascites,paralytic ileus lasting shorter or longer than 5 days, Ranson scores lower or higher than 5, hematocrit lower or higher than 45 %, CT Balthazar scores lower or higher than 7 and between 1980.1-1992.6 or 1992.7-2001.12 admissions (χ2>3.84, P<0.05), while no statistical difference was established between the groups of biliogenic and nonbiliogenic pancreatitis, serum amylase <200 U/L and ≥200U/L, serum calcium <2 mmol/L and ≥ 2 mmol/L or groups of total parenteral nutrition shorter or longer than 7 days (χ2<3.84, P>0.05).CONCLUSION: Occurrence of infection in patients with SAP is closely related with bloody ascites, paralytic ileus ≥5 days, Ranson scores ≥5, hematocrit ≥45 % and CT Balthazar Scores ≥7, but not with pathogens, serum calcium and total parenteral nutrition (TPN). | 10 | A Multi-center,Randomized,Controlled and Open Clinical Trial of Heyan Kuntai Capsule (和颜坤泰胶囊) and Hormone Therapy in Perimenopausal Women显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Heyan Kuntai Capsule(和颜坤泰胶囊, HYKT) and hormone therapy(HT) on perimenopausal syndromes(PMSs). Methods: From 2005 to 2008, 390 women with PMSs were recruited from 4 clinic centers. The inclusion criteria included ages 40 to 60 years, estradiol(E2) below 30 ng/L, and follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) above 40 IU/L, etc. The patients were randomly assigned to HYKT group or HT group by random number table method, administrated HYKT or conjugated estrogen with/without medroxyprogesterone acetate tablets for 12 months. During treatment, the patients were interviewed quarterly, Kupperman Menopausal Index(KMI) scores, hot flush scores, insomnia scores, Menopause-Specific Quality of Life(MENQOL) scores and adverse effects were used for evaluating drug efficacy and safety respectively. The last interview was made at the end of 12-month treatment. Results: After treatment, KMI scores of HYKT group and HT group were both significantly decreased compared with baseline(P<0.01) and there was no significant difference between groups(P>0.05), except that KMI of HYKT group was higher after 3-month treatment(P<0.05). After treatment, hot flush and insomnia scores were both improved significantly in two groups(P<0.01); and HT had a better performance than HYKT in improving hot flush(P<0.05). MENQOL were significantly improved in both groups after treatment(P<0.01); but there was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05). The incidence of adverse event in the HYKT group was much lower than that in the HT group(P<0.01). Conclusions: HYKT could effectively relieve PMSs and improve patient quality of life without severe adverse reactions. | 11 | A Trusted Attestation Mechanism for the Sensing Nodes of Internet of Things Based on Dynamic Trusted Measurement显示文摘Internet of things has been widely applied to industrial control, smart city and environmental protection, in these application scenarios, sensing node needs to make real-time response to the feedback control of the application layer. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor whether or not awareness nodes are trusted in real time, but the existing mechanisms for trusted certification lack the real-time measurement and tracking of the sensing node. To solve the above problems,this paper proposes a dynamic metric based authentication mechanism for sensing nodes of Internet of things. Firstly, the dynamic trustworthiness measure of the sensing nodes is carried out by introducing the computational function such as the trust function, the trustworthiness risk assessment function, the feedback control function and the active function of the sensing node. The dynamic trustworthiness measure of sensing nodes from multiple dimensions can effectively describe the change of trusted value of sensing nodes. Then, on the basis of this, a trusted attestation based on node trusted measure is realized by using the revocable group signature mechanism of local verifier. The mechanism has anonymity, unforgeability and traceability, which is proved the security in the standard model. Simulationexperiments show that the proposed trusted attestation mechanism is flexible, practical and efficient and has better attack resistance. | 12 | The association between the baseline bone resorption marker CTX and incident dysglycemia after 4 years显示文摘Bone is an endocrine organ involved in modulating glucose homeostasis. The role of the bone formation marker osteocalcin(OCN) in predicting diabetes was reported, but with conflicting results. No study has explored the association between baseline bone resorption activity and incident diabetes or prediabetes during follow-up. Our objective was to examine the relationship between the baseline bone resorption marker crosslinked C-telopeptide of type I collagen(CTX) and glycemic dysregulation after 4 years. This longitudinal study was conducted in a university teaching hospital. A total of 195 normal glucose tolerant(NGT) women at baseline were invited for follow-up. The incidence of diabetes and prediabetes(collectively defined as dysglycemia) was recorded. A total of 128 individuals completed the 4-year study. The overall conversion rate from NGT to dysglycemia was 31.3%. The incidence of dysglycemia was lowest in the middle tertile [16.3%(95% confidence interval(CI), 6.8%–30.7%)] compared with the lower [31.0%(95%CI, 17.2%–46.1%)] and upper [46.5%(95% CI, 31.2%–62.6%)] tertiles of CTX, with a significant difference seen between the middle and upper tertiles(P = 0.002 5). After adjusting for multiple confounding variables, the upper tertile of baseline CTX was associated with an increased risk of incident dysglycemia, with an odds ratio of 7.09(95% CI, 1.73–28.99) when the middle tertile was the reference. | 13 | Clinical application of serial operations with preserving spleen显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the clinical application of serial operations with preservation of spleen.METHODS: Serial operations with preserving spleen were performed on 211 cases in our hospital from 1980 to 2000.The patient's age ranged from 13 to 56 years, averaging 3years. Diseases included splenic injury in 171 cases, portal hypertension in 9 cases, splenic cyst in 10 cases, and the lesion of pancreatic body and tail in 21 cases.RESULTS: All the cases were cured, and 129 patients were followedup from 3 months to 3 years with the leukocyte phagocytosis test, detection of immunoglubin, CT, 99mTc scanning and ultrasonogrsphy. | 14 | Evaluation of Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide Fumigation as a Method for the Bio-decontamination of the High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter Unit显示文摘Objective To evaluate the performance of vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP) for the bio-decontamination of the high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter unit. Methods Self-made or commercially available bioindicators were placed at designated locations in the HEPA filter unit under VHP fumigation. The spores on coupons were then extracted by 0.5 h submergence in eluent followed by 200-time violent knocks. Results Due to the presence of HEPA filter in the box, spore recovery from coupons placed at the bottom of the filter downstream was significantly higher than that from coupons placed at the other locations. The gap of decontamination efficiency between the top and the bottom of the filter downstream became narrower with the exposure time extended. The decontamination efficiency of the bottom of the filter downstream only improved gently with the injection rate of H2O2 increased and the decontamination efficiency decreased instead when the injection rate exceeded 2.5 g/min. The commercially available bioindicators were competent to indicate the disinfection efficiency of VHP for the HEPA filter unit. Conclusion The HEPA filter unit is more difficult than common enclosure to decontaminate using VHP fumigation. Complete decontamination can be achieved by extending fumigation time. | 15 | 3D finite element simulation of explosive welding of three-layer plates显示文摘A 3D finite element model of the explosive welding process of three-layer plates with materials of steel-copper-copper is established. Based on the presented model, the bonding mechanism is simulated and analyzed, different detonation modes are also comparatively studied to indicate the driving force spread in few microseconds. The results show that the three layer plates bond together after many times of impact between the flyers and the base driven by detonation wave, which is damping rapidly at each impact with wavelength decreasing. The pressure at the detonation point is minimal, which induces non-bonding of the plates here. | 17 | Paddy System with a Hybrid Rice Enhances Cyanobacteria Nostoc and Increases N2 Fixation显示文摘Biological nitrogen (N) fixation (BNF) plays a significant role in maintaining soil fertility in paddy field ecosystems. Rice variety influences BNF, but how different rice varieties regulate BNF and associated diazotroph communities has not been quantified. Airtight, field-based 15N2-labelling grow th chamber experiments were used to assess the BNF capac 辻 y of different rice varie ties. In addition, both the 16S rRNA and nifH genes were sequenced to assess the influence of different rice varieties on bacterial and diazotrophic communities in paddy soils. After subjecting a rice-soil system to 74 d of continuous airtight, field-based 15N2 labelling in pots in a growth chamber, the amounts of fixed N were 22.3 and 38.9 kg ha^-1 in inbred japonica (W23) and hybrid indica (IIY) rice cultivars plan ted in the rice-soil systems, respectively, and only 1%—2.5% of the fixed N was allocated to the rice plants and weeds. A greater abundance of diazotrophs was found in the surface soil (0-1 cm) under IIY than under W23. Sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene showed significantly greater abundances of the cyanobacterial genera Nostoc, Anabaena, and Cylindrospermum under IIY than under W23. Sequencing of the nifH gene also showed a significantly greater abundance of Nostoc under IIY than under W23. | 18 | Primary Hyperparathyroidism:A Tale of Two Cities Revisited-New York and Shanghai显示文摘In the 1970s,with the advent of biochemical multichannel screening in the United States and other western countries,the clinical presentation of primary hyperparathyroidism(PHPT) changed from a symptomatic to an asymptomatic disorder.However,in Asian countries,like China,PHPT did not show this evolution,but rather continued to be a symptomatic disease with target organ involvement.In this paper,we revisit the clinical features of PHPT in New York and Shanghai,representative United States and Chinese cites,over the past decade.The questions we address are whether the disease evolved in China to a more asymptomatic one and,whether in the United States further changes are evident.The results indicate that while PHPT con-tinues to present primarily as an asymptomatic disease in the United States,a new phenotype characterized by normal serum calcium and high parathyroid hormone levels,normocalcemic PHPT,has emerged.Data from Shanghai demonstrates a trend for PHPT to present more commonly as an asymptomatic disorder in China.However,most patients with PHPT in China still manifest classical symptoms,i.e.nephrolithiasis and fractures.A comparison of the two cohorts shows that Chinese patients with PHPT are younger,with higher serum calcium and PTH levels,and lower 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels than patients in New York.Normocalcemic PHPT has not yet been recognized in Shanghai.In summary,although the phenotypes of PHPT in both cities are evolving towards less evident disease,sharp clinical and biochemical differences are still apparent in PHPT as expressed in China and the United States. | Jian-min Liu Natalie E. | 19 | Regulation of non-classical immune parameters in immune thrombocytopenic purpura mice by a spleen-invigorating,qi-replenishing and blood-containing formula显示文摘Objective:This study investigated the regulatory effect of non-classical immune parameters on immune thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP)mice by a spleen-invigorating,qi-replenishing and blood-containing formula(SQBF).Method:A total of 80 BALB/c mice were randomly divided into four equal groups(20 mice each):control group,model group,prednisone group and spleen-invigorating,qi-replenishing and blood-containing(SQBF)group.Mice in the model group,prednisone group,and SQBF group were administered anti-platelet serum to induce ITP.The dynamic variations of platelet counts in ITP mice were measured with an automatic blood analyzer before modeling and 48 h,and 8,12 and 15 days following APS injection.Levels of b-endorphin(b-EP),vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP)and salivary IgA(SIgA)were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)on 15th day of experiment.Results:SQBF enhanced peripheral blood platelet counts in ITP mice similar to that of prednisone,and both groups showed a statistically significant response compared with the model group(P<.01).The SQBF significantly decreased b-EP levels compared with the model and prednisone intervention groups(P<.05),significantly increased the levels of VIP and SIgA in ITP mice compared with the model group(P<.05)and had significant protective effects on the thymus of ITP mice compared with the model group(P<.01).Conclusions:The SQBF had a similar effect to prednisone with regards to enhancing peripheral blood platelet counts in ITP mice.Furthermore,it decreased b-EP levels and increased VIP and SIgA,and protected the thymus.This shows that,on base of the brain-gut axis functions,some non-classical immune vascular active factors or neurotransmitters are also involved in immune responses,and also have relationship with the onset of ITP and bleeding and/or hemostasis.It needs further study to determine whether a change in these active factors is related to immediate hemostasis. | Tiantian Li Hao He Li Hou Yue Xu Xiaoyong Wu Yanping Sun Lei Zheng Zhixiong Chen Xinyi Chen Bei Qin | 2015 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2015,2,2: | 6 |
