3Modeling rock specimens through 3D printing: Tentative experiments and prospects显示文摘Current developments in 3D printing (3DP) technology provide the opportunity to produce rock-like specimens and geotechnical models through additive manufacturing, that is, from a file viewed with a computer to a real object. This study investigated the serviceability of3 DP products as substitutes for rock specimens and rock-type materials in experimental analysis of deformation and failure in the laboratory. These experiments were performed on two types of materials as follows:(1) compressive experiments on printed sand-powder specimens in different shapes and structures, including intact cylinders, cylinders with small holes, and cuboids with pre-existing cracks, and(2) compressive and shearing experiments on printed polylactic acid cylinders and molded shearing blocks. These tentative tests for 3DP technology have exposed its advantages in producing complicated specimens with special external forms and internal structures, the mechanical similarity of its product to rock-type material in terms of deformation and failure, and its precision in mapping shapes from the original body to the trial sample(such as a natural rock joint). 5Large-scale analysis of small RNAs derived from traditional Chinese herbs in human tissues显示文摘Plant-derived microRNAs have recently been reported to function in human blood and tissues. Controversy was immediately raised due to possible contamination and the lack of large sample sizes. Here, we report thousands of unique small RNAs derived from traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) herbs found in human blood cells and mouse lung tissues using a large-scale analysis.We extracted small RNAs from decoctions of 10 TCM plants(Ban Zhi Lian, Chai Hu, Chuan Xin Lian, Di Ding Zi Jin, Huang Qin, Jin Yin Hua, Lian Qiao, Pu Gong Ying, Xia Ku Cao, and Yu Xing Cao) and obtained millions of RNA sequences from each herb. We also obtained RNA-Seq data from the blood cells of humans who consumed herbal decoctions and from the lung tissues of mice administered RNAs from herbal decoctions via oral gavage. We identified thousands of unique small RNA sequences in human blood cells and mouse lung tissues. Some of these identified small RNAs from Chuan Xin Lian and Hong Jing Tian could be mapped to the genomes of the herbs, confirming their TCM plant origin. 8Population Genomic Analysis and De Novo Assembly Reveal the Origin of Weedy Rice as an Evolutionary Game显示文摘Crop weediness,especially that of weedy rice(Oryza sativa f.spontanea),remains mysterious.Weedy rice possesses robust ecological adaptability;however,how this strain originated and gradually formed proprietary genetic features remains unclear?Here,we demonstrate that weedy rice at Asian high latitudes(WRAH)is phylogenetically well defined and possesses unselected genomic characteristics in many divergence regions between weedy and cultivated rice.We also identified novel quantitative trait loci underlying weedy-specific traits,and revealed that a genome block on the end of chromosome 1 is associated with rice weediness.To identify the genomic modifications underlying weedy rice evolution,we generated the first de novo assembly of a high-quality weedy rice genome(WR04-6),and conducted a comparative genomics study between WR04-6 with other rice reference genomes.Multiple lines of evidence,including the results of demographic scenario comparisons,suggest that differentiation between weedy rice and cultivated rice was initiated by genetic improvement of cultivated rice and that the essence of weediness arose through semi-domestication.A plant height model further implied that the origin of WRAH can be modeled as an evolutionary game and indicated that strategy-based selection driven by fitness shaped its genomic diversity.Jian Sun Dianrong Ma Liang Tang Minghui Zhao Guangchen Zhangh Wenjia Wang Jiayu Song Xiang Li Zimeng Liu Wenxing Zhang Quan Xu Yuncheng Zhou Jianzhong Wu Toshio Yamamoto Fei Dai Yan Lei Song Li Gang Zhou Hongkun Zheng Zhengjin Xu Wenfu Chen 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,5:9
9Yu Gan Long Ameliorates Hepatic Fibrosis by Inhibiting PI3K/AKT,Ras/ERK and JAK1/STAT3 Signaling Pathways in CCl4-induced Liver Fibrosis Rats显示文摘Yu Gan Long(YGL)is a Chinese traditional herbal formula which has been reported to attenuate liver fibrosis for many years and we have explored its anti-fibrotic mechanism through blocking transforming growth factor(TGF-β)in the previous study.But the mechanisms associated with platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF)-BB remain obscure.In this study,we further investigated the mechanism of YGL reducing carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)-induced liver fibrosis in rats.Our results showed that YGL suppressed CCl4-induced upregulation of collagen IV(Col IV),type HI precollagen(PCHI),hyaluronuc acid(HA)and laminin(LN),which are implicated in liver fibrosis.Also,YGL reduced theα-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA)expression,which acts as the indicator of liver fibrosis.Furthermore,YGL decreased the serum levels of hepatic stellate cell(HSC)mitogen PDGF-BB and inflammation cytokines,including TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-6.Markers involved in liver fibrosis,such as Ras,p-Raf-1,p-ERK1/2,p-JNK,p-P38,p-PI3K,p-AKT,p-JAKl,p-STAT3 were downregulated significantly after treatment with YGL.Our results indicated that YGL ameliorated CCl4-induced liver fibrosis by reducing inflammation cytokines production,and suppressing Ras/ERK,PI3K/AKT,and JAK1/STAT3 signaling pathways,which provided further evidence towards elucidation of the anti-fibrotic mechanism of YGL.Hou-gang LI Peng-tao YOU Yu XI Yu CAI Yi-jun TU Meng-heng WANG Wan-ci SONG Tai-min QUAN Hui-ying REN Yan-wen LIU Han-xiong DAN Shi-qing XU 2020Current Medical Science2020,40,3:9

13A flow cytometer based protocol for quantitative analysis of bloom-forming cyanobacteria(Microcystis) in lake sediments显示文摘A quantitative protocol for the rapid analysis of Microcystis cells and colonies in lake sediment was developed using a modified flow cytometer,the CytoSense.For cell enumeration,diluted sediment samples containing Microcystis were processed with sonication to disintegrate colonies into single cells.An optimized procedure suggested that 5 mg dw(dry weight)/mL dilution combined with 200 W × 2 min sonication yielded the highest counting efficiency.Under the optimized determination conditions,the quantification limit of this protocol was 3.3×10 4 cells/g dw.For colony analysis,Microcystis were isolated from the sediment by filtration.Colony lengths measured by flow cytometry were similar to those measured by microscopy for the size range of one single cell to almost 400 μm in length.Moreover,the relationship between colony size and cell number was determined for three Microcystis species,including Microcystis flos-aquae,M.aeruginosa and M.wessenbergii.Regression formulas were used to calculate the cell numbers in differentsized colonies.The developed protocol was applied to field sediment samples from Lake Taihu.The results indicated the potential and applicability of flow cytometry as a tool for the rapid analysis of benthic Microcystis.This study provided a new capability for the high frequency monitoring of benthic overwintering and population dynamics of this bloom-forming cyanobacterium.Quan Zhou Wei Chen Huiyong Zhang Liang Peng Liming Liu Zhiguo Han Neng Wan Lin Li Lirong Song 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,9:5
14Heterogeneous degradation of toxic organic pollutants by hydrophobic copper Schiff-base complex under visible irradiation显示文摘A hydrophobic complex of Cu2+[bis-salicylic aldehyde-o-phenylenediamine],Cu-SPA,was prepared and used as a heterogeneous photocatalyst to degrade organic pollutants in water under visible irradiation(420 nm)at neutral pH.The structure of complex was characterized by using nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR),elemental analysis,IR and UV-vis spectrometries.Degradation of Rhodamine B(RhB),Sulforhodamine B(SRB)and Benzoic acid(BA)in water were used as model reactions to evaluate the photocatalytic activities of Cu-SPA.The results indicated that RhB and SRB were easily adsorbed on the hydrophobic surface of Cu-SPA from aqueous solution(the maximum adsorption amount:Qmax=11.09 and 8.05μmol/g,respectively).Under visible irradiation,RhB and SRB were decolorized completely after 210 and 240 min,respectively,and BA was removed completely after 5 h.The efficiency of H2O2was>95%,in contrast to that of the reaction without catalyst or light(<20%).In water soluble medium,the hydrophobic Cu-SPA can be used more than 6 cycles.ESR results and the behavior of cyclic voltammetry showed that,in the reaction process,Cu2+-SPA was reduced to intermediate state Cu+-SPA firstly,which was extremely unstable and reacted rapidly with H2O2,leading to high reactive oxygen species(·OH radical)to degrade the substrate.SONG Quan JIA ManKe MA WanHong FANG YanFen HUANG YingPing 2013Science China Chemistry2013,56,12:5
15Childhood BMI and Adult Obesity in a Chinese Sample:A 13-Year Follow-up Study显示文摘Objective Obesity is recognized as a significant risk factor for diabetes and hypertension. The present study aimed to examine the associations between adults' obesity risk and childhood and parental obesity. Methods A total of 204 children aged 6-17 years were recruited in 2002 with an average follow-up period of 13.2 years. Height and body weight were measured by trained staffs. Overweight and obesity were defined based on the Chinese standard for children and adults. T-test, analysis of variance, and Chi-square analysis were used for single factor analysis. Multiple linear and logistic regression analyses were used to perform multifactor analysis. Results The percentage of non-obese children who grew up to be non-obese adults was 62.6%, and that of obese children who grew up to be obese adults was 80.0%. There was a significant association between childhood body mass index(BMI) and adulthood BMI with a β regression coefficient of 3.76 [95% confidence interval(CI): 1.36-6.16], and between childhood obesity and adulthood obesity with an odds ratio of 5.76(95% CI: 1.37-24.34). There was no statistical difference between parental obesity at baseline and children's adulthood obesity, after adjustment of confounders. Male participants and those aged 10.0-13.0 years had a higher risk of adulthood obesity with odds ratios of 2.50(95% CI: 1.12-5.26) and 3.62(95% CI: 1.17-11.24), respectively. 18Experimental study on the infrared precursor characteristics of gas-bearing coal failure under loading显示文摘The stress and gas pressure in deep coal seams are very high,and instability and failure rapidly and intensely occur.It is important to study the infrared precursor characteristics of gas-bearing coal instability and failure.In this paper,a self-developed stress-gas coupling failure infrared experimental system was used to analyse the infrared radiation temperature(IRT)and infrared thermal image precursor characteristics of gas-free coal and gas-bearing coal.The changes in the areas of the infrared temperature anomalous precursor regions and the effect of the gas on the infrared precursors were examined.The results show that high-temperature anomalous precursors arise mainly when the gas-free coal fails under loading,whereas the gas-bearing coal has high-temperature and low-temperature anomalous precursors.The area of the high-temperature anomalous precursor is approximately 30%–40%under gasbearing coal unstable failure,which is lower than the 60%–70%of the gas-free coal.The area of the low-temperature abnormal precursor is approximately 3%–6%,which is higher than the 1%–2%of the gas-free coal.With increasing gas pressure,the area of the high-temperature anomalous precursor gradually decreases,and the area of the low-temperature anomalous precursor gradually increases.The highand low-temperature anomalous precursors of gas-bearing coal are mainly caused by gas desorption,volume expansion,and thermal friction.The presence of gas inhibits the increase in IRT on the coal surface and increases the difficulty of infrared radiation(IR)monitoring and early warning for gas-bearing coal.Shan Yin Zhonghui Li Dazhao Song Xueqiu He Liming Qiu Quan Lou He Tian 2021International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2021,31,5:4
19Theoretical verification of the rationality of strain energy storage index as rockburst criterion based on linear energy storage law显示文摘The rationality of using strain energy storage index(Wet)for evaluating rockburst proneness was theoretically verified based on linear energy storage(LES)law in this study.The LES law is defined as the linear relationship between the elastic strain energy stored inside the solid material and the input strain energy during loading.It is used to determine the elastic strain energy and dissipated strain energy of rock specimens at various loading/unloading stress levels.The results showed that the Wetvalue obtained from experiments was close to the corresponding theoretical one from the LES law.Furthermore,with an increase in the loading/unloading stress level,the ratio of elastic strain energy to dissipated strain energy converged to the peak-strength strain energy storage index(Wp et).This index is stable and can better reflect the relative magnitudes of the stored energy and the dissipated energy of rocks at the whole pre-peak stage than the strain energy storage index.The peak-strength strain energy storage index can replace the conventional strain energy storage index as a new index for evaluating rockburst proneness.Fengqiang Gong Song Luo Quan Jiang Lei Xu 2022Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,6:4
20The influence of different underlying surface on sand-duststorm in northern China显示文摘In thispaper,a quantitative research on the relationship between differentunderlying surface and sand-duststorm has been made by using 40 years meteorologicaldata offive differenttypes of underlying surface in northern China,which include farmland,grassland,sandland,gobiand saltcrust. These metrologicaldata comprise sand-duststorm days and strong wind days.By analyzing,we can find that there are certain correlations between the days of sand-dust storm and strong wind for differentunderlying surface,which has greatinfluence on sand-duststorm.Butthere are pronounced differences in differenttypes ofunderlying surface.The sand-duststorm days ofgrassland,gobiand saltcrust,with smallerinterannualvariation are obviously less than strong wind days.On the other hand,the sand-duststorm days offarmland and sandland increase evidently,even in many years,are much more than strong wind days.The differencesare mainly induced by the influencing mechanism of different underlying surface on sand-dust storm. Grassland, gobi and salt crust with stable underlying surface are not prone to sand-dust storm under strong wind condition.
