| 1 | Subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease: 8 years of follow-up显示文摘Objective:The short-term benefits of bilateral stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus(STN)in patients with advanced Parkinson’s disease(PD)are well documented,but long-term benefits are still uncertain.The aim of this study is to evaluate the outcome of 8 years of bilateral STN stimulation to PD patients.Methods:In this study,31 consecutive PD patients were treated with bilateral STN stimulation.Their functional status was measured using the Activities of Daily Living section of the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS-ADL)at drug on(with medication)and drug off(without medication)states preoperatively and at 1,5,and 8 years postoperatively.In addition,Levodopa equivalent doses and stimulation parameters were also assessed.Results:After 8 years of STN stimulation,the UPDRS-ADL scores were improved by 4%at drug off status(P>0.05)and 22%at drug on status(P<0.05)compared with baseline;the levodopa daily doses were reduced by 28%(P<0.05)compared with baseline;the stimulation voltage and pulse width were not changed,but the stimulation frequency was decreased remarkably compared with the 5 years of follow-up.Adverse events were observed in 6 patients,including misplacement of the electrode and skin erosion requiring further surgery.All events were resolved without permanent sequelae.2 patients died of aspiration pneumonia 6 and 7 years after surgery.Conclusions:The marked improvement in UPDRS-ADL scores were still observed after 8 years of bilateral STN stimulation with medication. | Dianyou Li Chunyan Cao Jing Zhang Shikun Zhan Shengdi Chen Bomin Sun | 2013 | Translational Neurodegeneration2013,2,1: | 4 |

| 3 | A data envelopment analysis of agricultural technical efficiency of Northwest Arid Areas in China显示文摘Severe resource shortage and waste of resource in agricultural production make it necessary to assess efficiency to increase productivity with high efficiency and ensure sustainable agricultural development. This paper adopted an input-oriented data envelopment analysis(DEA) method with the assumption of variable returns to scale to evaluate agricultural production efficiency of 100 major irrigation districts in Northwest China in 2010.Major findings of this paper were as follows: firstly, the average value of total technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of those irrigation districts in Northwest China were 0.770, 0.825 and 0.931,respectively; secondly, 30% of irrigation districts were technically efficient, while 42% and 32% of them showed pure technical and scale efficiency respectively. Among inefficient decision-making units, total technical efficiency score varied from 0.313 to 0.966, showing significant geographical differences, but geographical differences of pure technical efficiency was more consistent with that of total technical efficiency; thirdly, input redundancy was evident. Inputs of agricultural population, irrigation area,green water, blue water, consumption of fertilizer and agricultural machinery could be reduced by 34.88%,40.19%, 43.85%, 47.10%, 41.53% and 42.21% respectively without reducing agricultural outputs. Furthermore,irrigation area, green water and blue water had relatively high slack movement though Northwest China which is short of water resources. Based on these results, this paper drew the following conclusions: First, there is huge potential for Northwest China to improve its agricultural production efficiency, and agro-technology not input scale had greater influence on improvement. | 6 | Spatiotemporal variation in water footprint of grain production in China显示文摘Water shortage has become a significant constraint to grain production in China.A more holistic approach is needed to understand the links between grain production and water consumption.Water footprint provides a framework to assess water utilization in agriculture production.This paper analyzes the spatiotemporal variation in water footprint of grain production(WFGP)in China from 1951 to 2010.The results show that,jointly motivated by the improvement of agricultural production and water use efficiency,WFGP in all areas showed a decreasing trend.National average WFGP has decreased from 3.38 to 1.31 m^(3)·kg^(–1).Due to regional differences in agricultural production and water use efficiency,spatial distribution of WFGP varies significantly and its pattern has changed through time.Moreover,WFGP may show significant differences within areas of similar climatic conditions and agricultural practices,indicating that there is a strong need to improve the management of water use technology.Statistical analysis revealed that regional differences in grain yield are the main cause for variations in spatiotemporal WFGP.However,the scope for further increases in grain yield is limited,and thus,the future goal of reducing WFGP is to decrease the water use per unit area. | Pute WU Yubao WANG Xining ZHAO Shikun SUN Jiming JIN | 2015 | Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2015,2,2: | 1 |
| 7 | Phylogenetic diversity of bacteria associated with the marine sponge Agelas robusta from South China Sea显示文摘It is well known that marine sponges harbor large numbers of bacteria,some of which have been proved to be sponge-specific.The diversity of bacteria in marine sponges distributed along the coast of South China Sea has been previously studied but that of bacteria in sponges inhabiting the open sea has been rarely investigated.In this report,the diversity of bacteria associated with the marine sponge Agelas robusta from a remote coral reef in the South China Sea was documented employing 16S rDNA library construction,amplified ribosomal DNA restriction analysis(ARDRA) and phylogenetic analysis.A total of 32 phylotypes were finally categorized in nine phyla including Cyanobacteria,Proteobacteria,Chloroflexi,Firmicutes,Actinobacteria,Acidobacteria,Planctomycetes,Bacteroidetes and Gemmatimonadetes.The dominant phylum was Proteobacteria whereas the dominant genus was Synechococcus in Cyanobacteria.Some spongespecific bacteria were also found in the bacteria population,but the proportion(5 OTUs/32 OTUs) was much lower than other sponges.This study reveals the phylogenetic diversity of bacteria in A.robusta and confirms the presence of some sponge-specific bacteria in the South China Sea.Understanding the diversity of sponge-associated bacteria in China assists to exploit the bacteria resources for biotechnology. | SUN We DAI Shikun WANG Guanghua XIE Lianwu JIANG Shumei LI Xiang | 2010 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2010,29,5: | 1 |

| 10 | Theta Oscillations Support Prefrontal-hippocampal Interactions in Sequential Working Memory显示文摘The prefrontal cortex and hippocampus may support sequential working memory beyond episodic memory and spatial navigation.This stereoelectroencephalography(SEEG)study investigated how the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex(DLPFC)interacts with the hippocampus in the online processing of sequential information.Twenty patients with epilepsy(eight women,age 27.6±8.2 years)completed a line ordering task with SEEG recordings over the DLPFC and the hippocampus.Participants showed longer thinking times and more recall errors when asked to arrange random lines clockwise(random trials)than to maintain ordered lines(ordered trials)before recalling the orientation of a particular line.First,the ordering-related increase in thinking time and recall error was associated with a transient theta power increase in the hippocampus and a sustained theta power increase in the DLPFC(3–10 Hz).In particular,the hippocampal theta power increase correlated with the memory precision of line orientation.Second,theta phase coherences between the DLPFC and hippocampus were enhanced for ordering,especially for more precisely memorized lines.Third,the theta band DLPFC→hippocampus influence was selectively enhanced for ordering,especially for more precisely memorized lines.This study suggests that theta oscillations may support DLPFC-hippocampal interactions in the online processing of sequential information. | Minghong Su Kejia Hu Wei Liu Yunhao Wu Tao Wang Chunyan Cao Bomin Sun Shikun Zhan Zheng Ye | 2024 | Neuroscience Bulletin2024,40,2: | 0 |
