1Contrastive Study on Content and Anti-oxidation Activity of Total Saponins from Cultivated and Wild Paris Plants in Southwest China显示文摘[Objectives]To study content of total saponins from cultivated and wild Paris herbs in Southwest China, evaluate its in vitro antioxidation activity, and explore the correlation between quality of Paris herbs and production place, variety, cultivated and wild varieties.[Methods]Colorimetric method of perchloric acid reaction was used, and content of total saponins from Paris herbs was determined by ultraviolet spectrophotometer at 406 nm. [Results]The lowest content of total saponins from cultivated and wild Paris herbs in Southwest China was0. 55%,while the maximum was 12. 24%,with obvious difference. Total saponins from Paris herbs had stronger clearance ability on free radical DPPH and stronger reduction ability on Fe^(3+),and the results showed good dose-effect relationship with concentration. Among them,S6 had the highest clearance ability on DPPH,which reached 89. 66%. In the determination of reduction ability, the absorbance of S16 reached3. 643 and was the highest, with very good reducing property. Content and anti-oxidation capacity of total saponins from Paris herbs in Southwest China did not have obvious correlation with production place, altitude and cultivation but was related to variety. [Conclusions]The quality of Paris herbs in Southwest China was unstable, and their anti-oxidation abilities were also different, and cultivation could not guarantee high quality. It should normalize cultivation, and develop planting industry of Paris herbs, which could guarantee stable supply of Paris herbs and stability and controllability of quality.Mengjie YU Haiyan XIANG Shaoshan ZHANG Zhongjie HUANG Yuan LIU 2017Medicinal Plant2017,8,1:3

6Decay stages and meteorological factors affect microbial community during leaf litter in situ decomposition显示文摘Litter microorganisms play a crucial role in the biological decomposition in forest ecosystems;however, the coupling effect of meteorological and substrate changes on it during the different stages of leaf decomposition in situ remains unclear.Hence, according to meteorological factors dynamics,a one-year field litter of Quercus wutaishanica in situ decomposition experiment was designed for four decay stages in a warm temperate forest.Microbial community composition was characterized using Illumina sequencing of fungal ITS and bacterial 16S genes.Bacterial(6.6)and fungal(3.6)Shannon indexes were the largest after 125 days’litter decomposition(October). The relative abundance of Acidobacteria after 342 days and Bacteroidetes after 125 days were 3 and 24 times higher than after 31 days, respectively. Some non-dominant species(bacteria:Firmicutes,Planctomycotes, and Verrucomicrobia;fungi:Chytridiomycota and Glomeromomycota)may be absent or present at different decomposition stages due to litter properties or meteorological factors.Chemoheterotrophy and aerobic-chemoheterotrophy were the dominant bacterial functional groups, and the dominant fungal functional groups were saprotrophs, pathotrophs, and symbiotrophs.Precipitation and relative humidity significantly affected bacteria.Temperature, sunlight intensity, and net radiation significantly affected fungi.Besides, among the relative contributions of changes in bacterial and fungal community structure, leaf litter properties alone explained the variation of 5.51%and 10.63%.Microbial diversity and decay stage directly affected the litter mass-loss rate, with meteorological factors(precipitation, relative humidity, air temperature, and sunlight intensity)being indirect. Our findings highlight the importance of microbial diversity for leaf litter decomposition and the influence of meteorological factors.Haixin Zhang Yimei Huang Shaoshan An Quanchao Zeng Baorong Wang Xuejuan Bai Qian Huang 2023Soil Ecology Letters2023,5,3:0

8An optimal medicinal and edible Chinese herbal formula attenuates particulate matter-induced lung injury through its anti-oxidative,anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptosis activities显示文摘Objective:Identifying novel strategies to prevent particulate matter(PM)-induced lung injury is crucial for the reduction of the morbidity of chronic respiratory diseases. The combined intervention represented by herbal formulae for simultaneously targeting multiple pathological processes can provide a more beneficial effect than the single intervention. The aim of this paper is therefore to design a safe and effective medicinal and edible Chinese herbs(MECHs)formula against PM-induced lung injury.Methods:PM-induced oxidative stress, inflammatory response and apoptosis A549 cell model were used to screen anti-oxidant,anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic MECHs,respectively.A network pharmacology method was utilized to rationally design a novel herbal formula.Ultra performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometer was utilized to assess the quality control of MECHs formula. The excretion of magnetic iron oxide nanospheres of the MECHs formula was estimated in zebrafish. The MECH formula against PM-induced lung injury was investigated with mice experiments. Results:Five selected herbs were rationally designed to form a new MECH formula, including Citri Exocarpium Rubrum(Juhong),Lablab Semen Album(Baibiandou),Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma(Baizhu),Mori Folium(Sangye)and Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma(Yuzhu). The formula effectively promoted the magnetic iron oxide nanospheres excretion in zebrafish. The mid/high dose formula significantly prevented PM-induced lung damage in mice by enhancing the activity of SOD and GSH-Px,reducing the MDA and ROS level and attenuating the upregulation of pro-inflammatory cytokine(IL-6,IL-8,IL-1βand TNFa),down regulating the protein expression of NF-κB,STAT3 and Caspase-3.Conclusion:Our findings suggest that the effective MECHs formula will become a novel strategy for preventing PM-induced lung injury and provide a paradigm for the development of functional foods using MECHs.Huan Zhang Jun Kang Wuyan Guo Fujie Wang Mengjiao Guo Shanshan Feng Wuai Zhou Jinnan Li Ayesha T.Tahir Shaoshan Wang Xinjun Du Hui Zhao Weihua Wang Hong Zhu Bo Zhang 2023Chinese Herbal Medicines2023,15,3:0
