1Downregulation of miRNA-21 and cancer stem cells after chemotherapy results in better outcome in breast cancer patients显示文摘Epigenetic modifications have been observed as a decline in miRNA-21 expression and breast cancer stem cell(CSC)population after 3 cycles of standard chemotherapy.The epigenetic response(miRNAs expression)and CSCs are also correlated in patients with Breast Cancer.In patients who tolerated chemotherapy well,miRNA-21(non-coding RNA)expression decreased significantly after three cycles of chemotherapy.The miRNA-21 expression in breast cancer tissue was quantified by quantitative PCR(real-time PCR)using the standard protocol.In addition,breast CSCs(CD44+/CD24-)were also decreased in these patients.The miRNA-21 regulates cell division,proliferation,and autophagy of cancerous cells(as it targets phosphatase and tensin homolog/AKT/transcription factor EB/programmed cell death 4/autophagy-related protein 5 and chemotherapy also produces similar effects),thereby contributing to these benefits.Therefore,when all of the targets on genes have been explored by mimic miRNA,chemotherapy combined with anti-miRNA21 therapy may prove useful in the care of cancer patients.Shailendra Dwivedi Puneet Pareek Jeewan Ram Vishnoi Praveen Sharma Sanjeev Misra 2022World Journal of Stem Cells2022,14,4:3

9Numerical Analysis of Phase Change and Container Materials for Thermal Energy Storage in the Storage Tank of Solar Water Heating System显示文摘This study evaluates the effectiveness of phase change materials(PCMs) inside a storage tank of warm water for solar water heating(SWH) system through the theoretical simulation based on the experimental model of S.Canbazoglu et al.The model is explained by five fundamental equations for the calculation of various parameters like the effectiveness of PCMs,the mass of hot water,total heat content,and duration of charging.This study simulated eleven PCMs to analyze their effectiveness like Sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate(SHPD),OM 37,N-Eicosane(NE),Lauric acid(LA),Paraffin wax(PW),OM 48,Paraffin wax C_(20-33)(PW-C20-33),Sodium acetate trihydrate(SAT),Palmitic acid(PA),Myristic acid(MA),and Stearic acid(SA).Among all PCMs,the SHPD has found the highest value of effectiveness factor of 3.27.So,it is the most recommended PCM for the storage tank of the SWH system.The study also includes the melt fraction analysis of all enumerated PCMs corresponding to container materials of stainless steel,glass,aluminum mixed,tin,aluminum,and copper.This melt fraction analysis is performed by making a coding program in the FORTRAN programming language.Through the analysis,copper container material is found to have high melting rate for all PCMs so it is superior to other container materials.SINGH Shailendra ANAND Abhishek SHUKLA Amritanshu SHARMA Atul 2024Journal of Thermal Science2024,33,2:0
10The effects of climate and land use change on the potential distribution and nesting habitat of the Lesser Adjutant in Nepal显示文摘Climate change and land use change pose a threat to the world’s biodiversity and have significant impacts on the geographic distribution and composition of many bird species,but little is known about how they affect threatened large-sized waterbird species that rely on agricultural landscapes.To address this gap,we investigated how climate and land use changes influence the distribution and nesting habitats of the globally vulnerable Lesser Adjutant(Leptoptilos javanicus) in Nepal.Between 2012 and 2023,we collected distribution data from 24 districts and nesting site information from 18 districts.In a nation-wide breeding survey conducted in 2020,we documented a total of 581 fledglings from 346 nests in 109 colonies.The ensemble model predicted a current potential distribution of 15%(21,637 km2) and a potential nesting habitat of 13%(19,651 km2) for the species in Nepal.The highest predicted current suitable distribution and nesting habitat was in Madhesh Province,while none was predicted in Karnali Province.The majority of this predicted distributional and nesting habitat falls on agricultural landscapes(>70%).Our model showed a likely range expansion of up to 15%(21,573 km2) for the distribution and up to 12%(17,482 km2) for the nesting habitat under SSP5-8.5 scenarios for the 2070s.The range expansion is expected to occur mainly within the current distribution and breeding range(Tarai and some regions of Siwalk),particularly in Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces,and extend to the northern portions(Siwalik and Mid-hill regions) in other provinces.However,the current Protected Areas and Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas are inadequate for providing optimal habitats for the species.Although the model suggests range expansion,the use of such novel habitats is primarily contingent on the availability and protection of large-sized trees(particularly Bombax ceiba,observed in 65% of colonies) in agricultural regions where nesting occurs.Therefore,our research suggests that agricultural landscapes should be prioritized in management plans for the conservation of the Lesser Adjutant in Nepal.Hem Bahadur Katuwal Hari Prasad Sharma Prashant Rokka Krishna Prasad Bhusal Bishnu Prasad Bhattarai Sabina Koirala Sandeep Chhetri Luitel Shailendra Yadav Ganesh Sah Hem Sagar Baral Laxman Prasad Poudyal Lin Wang Rui-Chang Quan 2023Avian Research2023,14,3:0
11Secure Rotation Invariant Face Detection System for Authentication显示文摘Biometric applications widely use the face as a component for recognition and automatic detection.Face rotation is a variable component and makes face detection a complex and challenging task with varied angles and rotation.This problem has been investigated,and a novice algorithm,namely RIFDS(Rotation Invariant Face Detection System),has been devised.The objective of the paper is to implement a robust method for face detection taken at various angle.Further to achieve better results than known algorithms for face detection.In RIFDS Polar Harmonic Transforms(PHT)technique is combined with Multi-Block Local Binary Pattern(MBLBP)in a hybrid manner.The MBLBP is used to extract texture patterns from the digital image,and the PHT is used to manage invariant rotation characteristics.In this manner,RIFDS can detect human faces at different rotations and with different facial expressions.The RIFDS performance is validated on different face databases like LFW,ORL,CMU,MIT-CBCL,JAFFF Face Databases,and Lena images.The results show that the RIFDS algorithm can detect faces at varying angles and at different image resolutions and with an accuracy of 99.9%.The RIFDS algorithm outperforms previous methods like Viola-Jones,Multi-blockLocal Binary Pattern(MBLBP),and Polar HarmonicTransforms(PHTs).The RIFDS approach has a further scope with a genetic algorithm to detect faces(approximation)even from shadows.Amit Verma Mohammed Baljon Shailendra Mishra Iqbaldeep Kaur Ritika Saini Sharad Saxena Sanjay Kumar Sharma 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,1:0
12IoT-Based Women Safety Gadgets (WSG): Vision, Architecture, and Design Trends显示文摘In recent years,the growth of female employees in the commercial market and industries has increased.As a result,some people think travelling to distant and isolated locations during odd hours generates new threats to women’s safety.The exponential increase in assaults and attacks on women,on the other hand,is posing a threat to women’s growth,development,and security.At the time of the attack,it appears the women were immobilized and needed immediate support.Only self-defense isn’t sufficient against abuse;a new technological solution is desired and can be used as quickly as hitting a switch or button.The proposed Women Safety Gadget(WSG)aims to design a wearable safety device model based on Internet-of-Things(IoT)and Cloud Technology.It is designed in three layers,namely layer-1,having an android app;layer-2,with messaging and location tracking system;and layer-3,which updates information in the cloud database.WSG can detect an unsafe condition by the pressure sensor of the finger on the artificial nail,consequently diffuses a pepper spray,and automatically notifies the saved closest contacts and police station through messaging and location settings.WSG has a response time of 1000 ms once the nail is pressed;the average time for pulse rate measure is 0.475 s,and diffusing the pepper spray is 0.2–0.5 s.The average activation time is 2.079 s.Sharad Saxena Shailendra Mishra Mohammed Baljon Shamiksha Mishra Sunil Kumar Sharma Prakhar Goel Shubham Gupta Vinay Kishore 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,7:0
