1Phytochemical and biological activities of Crataegus sinaica growing in Egypt显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the cardiac activity and hepatoprotection of Crataegus sinaica (C.sinaica).Methods:All the isolated compounds were isolated by open-column liquid chromatography(CC) using sephadex LH-20 as stationary phase.Elution of the column was performed with EtOH or MeOH.The phytochemical investigation of the young stem of C.sinaica for the first time together with the leaves and flowers lead to the isolation and identification of quercetin,hyperoside,vitexin-2'-0-rhamnoside,epicatechin,procyanidin B2 and procyanidins CI.Results:Rats treated with the low and high dose of C.sinaica leaves with flowers extract showed 15%and 17%reduction in the heart rate,and reduction in the STsegment by 107%and 57%;respectively.The T-amplitude was decreased by 59%of the high dose extract.On the other hand,the young steins and leaves with flowers extracts of C.sinaica on primary culture of rat hepatocytes monolayer indicated a hepatoprotection for the total extract,ethyl acetate,butanol,and chlor of orm fractions at 100μg/mL,75μg/mL,50μg/mL,and 25μg/mL; respectively.Conclusions:The results of these chemical and biological studies suggest the use of C.sinaica growing in Egypt as a preventive drug against cardiovascular and hepatic diseases. 9Investigation of the volatile oils,lipid constituents and biological activity of Ballota andreuzziana,Teucrium zanonii and Verbena tenuisecta in Libya显示文摘Objective:To determine the chemical composition of essential oils and lipid constituents of Ballola andreuzziana(B.andreuzziana),Teucrium zanonii(T.zanonii) and Verbena tenuisecta(V. tenuisecta) growing in Libya,and to test the antibacterial activity of different extracts of Teucrium zanonii.Methods:The volatile oils of all plants were extracted by hydrodistillation method and analyzed by GC/MS method.The lipid constituents of plants were obtained by extraction with petroleum ether and fractionated into fatty alcohols,fatty acids and unsapoinfiable matters. Antibacterial activity of T.zanonii extracts and antioxidant activity of different extracts of T. zanonii were also studied.Results:The volate oil of B.andreuzziana was found to consists of 20 compounds in which caryophyllin is the main one(63.1%),the volatile oil of T.zanonii consists of 74 compounds in which germacrene-D was the main compound,while the volatile oil of V. tenuisecta consists of 13 compounds with l-octen-3- ol as a major constituent(52.87%).The study of antimicrobial activity of different extracts of V.tenuisecta showed that,both methanol and butanol extracts exhibited the highest activity against Mycobacterium phlei(M.pblei) and Candida albicans(C.albicans) respectively,while petroleum ether,fatty alcohols and unsaponifiable fractions had no antimicrobial activity against all the tested microorganisms. Investigation of the antioxidant activity of different extracts of T.zanonii using DPPH method proved that,the ethyl acetate and butanol fractions showed the highest activity where the inhibition percentage(1%) are 93.6 and 92.1 respectively.Conclusions:This is the first report about the volatile oils of these plants where T.zanonii have the highest content and the highest number of the identified compounds.The study of antioxidant T.zanonii extracts proved that,the ethyl acetate,butanol and aqueous extracts have the highest antioxidant activity.Methanol and butanol extracts of V.tenuisecta exhibited the highest activity against M.phlei and C.albicans respectively.Khaled A Abdelshafeek Adnan A Elgattar Aziza H Zarkoon Mohamed A Alwahash Abdelaaty A Shahat 2010Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,8:1

11A comparative study between flattening filter-free beams and flattening filter beams in radiotherapy treatment显示文摘Flattening filter-free(FFF) beams generated by medical linear particle accelerators(linacs) have recently been used in radiotherapy clinical practice.FFF beams have fundamental physical parameter differences with respect to standard flattening filter(FF) beams,such that the generally used dosimetric parameters and definitions are not always viable.This study investigates dosimetric parameters for use in the quality assurance of FFF beams generated by medical linacs in radiotherapy.The main characteristics of the photon beams are analyzed using specific data generated by a Varian True Beam linac having both FFF and FF beams of 6 and 10 MV(megavolt) energy,respectively.Definitions for dose profile parameters are suggested,starting from the renormalization of the FFF with respect to the corresponding FF beam.From this point,the flatness concept is translated into one of 'un-flatness',and other definitions are proposed,maintaining a strict parallelism between FFF and FF parameter concepts.The quality controls used in establishing a quality assurance program when introducing FFF beams into the clinical environment are given,maintaining similarity to those used for standard FF beams,and recommendations for the introduction of FFF beams into clinical radiotherapy application for breast cancer patients are provided as an example for comparison between FFF and FF for dose distribution and coverage for a target volume.Although there are many advantages of using a FFF beam,especially for advanced radiotherapy techniques,there are a few limitations(e.g.,using a relatively higher energy photon beam for stereotactic radiotherapy(SRT),limited speed of current multileaf collimators(MLCs),and off-axis distance-dependent modulation in intensitymodulated radiation therapy(IMRT)) as well as challenges(e.g.,criteria for beam quality evaluation and penumbra,establishment of dosimetry methods,and consequences of photon target burn-up) that need to be addressed for establishing the FFF beam as a viable alternative to the FF beam.Ali Wagdy Khaled EI Shahat Huda Ashry Amaal El Shershaby Ehab Abdo 2017Oncology and Translational Medicine2017,3,6:1
