2Physiological roles of mitogen-activated-protein-kinase-activated p38-regulated/activated protein kinase显示文摘Mitogen-activated protein kinases(MAPKs)are a family of proteins that constitute signaling pathways involved in processes that control gene expression,cell division, cell survival,apoptosis,metabolism,differentiation and motility.The MAPK pathways can be divided into conventional and atypical MAPK pathways.The first group converts a signal into a cellular response through a relay of three consecutive phosphorylation events exerted by MAPK kinase kinases,MAPK kinase,and MAPK.Atypical MAPK pathways are not organized into this three-tiered cascade.MAPK that belongs to both conventional and atypical MAPK pathways can phosphorylate both non-protein kinase substrates and other protein kinases.The latter are referred to as MAPK-activated protein kinases.This review focuses on one such MAPK-activated protein kinase,MAPK-activated protein kinase 5(MK5)or p38-regulated/activated protein kinase(PRAK).This protein is highly conserved throughout the animal kingdom and seems to be the target of both conventional and atypical MAPK pathways.Recent findings on the regulation of the activity and subcellular localization,bona fide interaction partners and physiological roles of MK5/PRAK are discussed.Sergiy Kostenko Gianina Dumitriu Kari Jenssen Lgreid Ugo Moens 2011World Journal of Biological Chemistry2011,2,5:8
3Repeated cupping manipulation temporary decreases natural killer lymphocyte frequency, activity and cytotoxicity显示文摘OBJECTIVE: Elevated natural killer lymphocyte cytotoxicity(NKc) has been linked with reproductive problems in women. Here we evaluate the potential benefit of cupping therapy(CT) in reproductionrelated immune responses.METHODS: This was a pilot clinical study. Participants were he althy fe male volunteers(n = 23) with elevated NKc, and received repeated CT 3 times over 5 d(inner pressure 40–50 kPa, 40 min; 12–1 5 cups). Lymphocyte subsets, NKc and NK lymphocyte activity(NKa) were measured in blood on day 0(initial levels, before the first treatment) and days 3, 10 and 17 after the last CT treatment, using the K562-stimulated CD69 expression assay.RESULTS: As a result of CT manipulations NKa was reduced on days 3 and 10, and NK percentage was reduced on day 10. NKc was most sensitive to CT treatment, resulting in their decreased counts at 3, 10 and 17 d post CT. CT treatment decreased NKc in the majority of individuals(87%), but the magnitude of the effect was variable. Out of 23 subjects 9(39.1%) had a 2–3 fold decrease of NKc on days 3, 10 and 17; 11(47.8%) started to show a decrease in NKc later, or more quickly returned to base levels; and only 3(13%) subjects displayed no effect of CT on NKc. Expectedly, no changes in T-cell subsets(CD3CD4, CD3CD8, HLADR, CD158a) were observed after CT.CONCLUSION: CT decreased NK cell numbers, their activity and cytotoxicity. 4Influence of liquid layers on energy absorption during particle impact显示文摘The influence of the thickness of a covering liquid layer and its viscosity as well as the impact velocity on energy loss during the normal impact on a flat steel wall of spherical granules with a liquid layer was studied. Free-fall experiments were performed to obtain the restitution coefficient of elastic–plastic Al2O3 granules by impact on the liquid layer, using aqueous solutions of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose with different concentrations for variation of viscosity (1–300 mPa s). In the presence of a liquid layer, increase of liquid viscosity decreases the restitution coefficient and the minimum thickness of the liquid layer at which the granule sticks to the wall. The measured restitution coefficients were compared with experiments performed without liquid layer. In contrast to the dry restitution coefficient, due to viscous losses at lower impact velocity, higher energy dissipation was obtained. A rational explanation for the effects obtained was given by results of numerically solved force and energy balances for a granule impact on a liquid layer on the wall. The model takes into account forces acting on the granule including viscous, surface tension, capillary, contact, drag, buoyancy and gravitational forces. 5Effect of CeO_2 and Al_2O_3 on the activity of Pd/Co_3O_4/cordierite catalyst in the three-way catalysis reactions(CO/NO/C_nH_m)显示文摘The present article studies the effect of CeO2 and Al2O3 on the activity of Pd/Co3O4/cordierite catalyst in conversion of NO, CO, CnHm. The catalysts were characterized by temperature programmed reduction with hydrogen, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It is shown that the effect of CeO2 on the properties of Pd/Co3O4/cordierite catalyst depends on preparation method. The catalyst obtained by co-deposition of cerium and cobalt oxides has higher activity in CO oxidation (CO + O2 and CO + NO) and total hexane oxidation (C6H14 + O2). Such phenomenon is probably caused by more than stoichiometric amount of formed oxygen vacancies, an increase in both mobility of surface oxygen and dispersity of components in the catalytic composition. It is demonstrated that CeO2 addition promotes the SO2 resistance of Pd/Co3O4/cordierite. 8Multilayer optics for the EUV and soft X-rays显示文摘The demand to enhance the optical resolution, to structure and observe ever smaller details, has pushed the way towards the EUV and soft X-rays. Induced mainly by the production of more powerful electronic circuits with the aid of projection lithography, optics developments in recent years can be characterized by the use of electromagnetic radiation with smaller wavelength. The good prospects of the EUV and soft X-rays for next generation lithography systems (λ=13.5 nm), microscopy in the “water window” (λ=2.3~4.4 nm), astronomy (λ=5~31 nm), spectroscopy, plasma diagnostics and EUV/soft X-ray laser research have led to considerable progress in the development of different multilayer optics. Since optical systems in the EUV/soft X-ray spectral region consist of several mirror elements a maximum reflectivity of each multilayer is essential for a high throughput. 9Product design based on discrete particle modeling of a fluidized bed granulator显示文摘Fluidized bed agglomeration is a process commonly used to construct powdered food or pharmaceutical products to improve their instant properties. This works analyzes the influence of a wide range of operating parameters(i.e., fluidization air flow rate, temperature, and liquid injection rate) on growth rate, process stability, and product particle structure. Different granulator configurations(i.e., top spray,Wurster coater, spouted bed) are compared using identical process parameters. The impacts of both process variables and granulator geometry on the fluidization regime, the particle and collision dynamics, and the resulting product structure and corresponding properties are studied in detailed simulations using a discrete particle model(DPM) and lab-scale agglomeration experiments with amorphous dextrose syrup(DE21). The combination of numerical and experimental results allows to correlate the kinetics of microscale particle interactions and the final product properties(i.e., agglomerate structure and strength). 11Ocular Influence of Nano-Modified Fullerene Light,2:Time Correlation of the Choice and Simple Sensorimotor Reactions That Determine Blinding Compensation of the Driver显示文摘We studied the ocular effect of light converted by fullerene on the dynamics of a simple sensorimotor reaction,a reaction of choice(CR)and their correlation at the background of recording the electrical activity of the human brain under extreme lighting conditions and inadequate visibility of the object.We examined 17 people(170 surveys of 8 men and 9 women)aged from 18 to 22 years without health complaints,according to the requirements of ethics when working with people.The ocular pathway of light exposure was provided by the use of glasses with fullerene(C60)filters(Tesla Hyperlight Eyewear?)with 0.33‰concentration of fullerene in polymethyl methacrylate organic glass,2 mm thick.For a placebo,we used glasses in a similar frame with a filter similar in light range,but not containing fullerene.The experimental model reflected the standard situation in which the driver of a vehicle falls in blindingly bright light.We determined the latent periods of a simple sensorimotor reaction and a CR.Electroencephalography(EEG)was recorded with eyes closed and open,with glasses with a fullerene nano-filter and a placebo filter.The Neuron-Spectrum-4/VP(NeuroSoft)complex was used.The recording was carried out mono-polarly,with a quantization frequency of 500 Hz,the electrodes were arranged according to the international system 10-20 in 19 leads.In each lead for the frequency ranges of EEG-delta(0.5-3.9 Hz),theta(4.0-7.9 Hz),alpha(8.0-12.9 Hz),beta1(13.0-19.9 Hz)and beta2(20.0-35.0 Hz)in the Neuron-Spectrum program,power spectral density(PSD)was calculated.We revealed a decrease in correlation of the latent periods of a simple sensorimotor reaction and the CR when using light modified by fullerene.This indicates an improvement in the rate of inter-hemispheric information processes and improvement in the quality and effectiveness of decisions made.It was found a significant(significant)decrease in the activity of frontal and central zones of the right hemisphere in the delta and beta2 ranges.This indicates a decrease in tension during identification of the stimulus and weakening of the activity of image processing operations,i.e.developing a less stressful state and facilitating the decision-making process.It was evidenced a significant increase in the activity of Posterior cingulate cortex in the theta and alpha ranges.This indicates improved coordination of visual information,attention,assessment of the position of the body,inhibition of irrelevant information and optimization of decision-making processes.The result of these changes was an increase in the speed of central information processing and a shift in focus from image processing to decision-making processes.Sergiy A.Gulyar Natalia B.Filimonova Mykola Yu.Makarchuk Yuliia N.Krivdiuk 2019Journal of US-China Medical Science2019,16,3:3

13A workflow for Sustainable Development Goals indicators assessment based on high-resolution satellite data显示文摘For evaluating the progresses towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs),a global indicator framework was developed by the UN Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goals Indicators.In this paper,we propose an improved methodology and a set of workflows for calculating SDGs indicators.The main improvements consist of using moderate and high spatial resolution satellite data and state-of-the-art deep learning methodology for land cover classification and for assessing land productivity.Within the European Network for Observing our Changing Planet(ERA-PLANET),three SDGs indicators are calculated.In this research,harmonized Landsat and Sentinel-2 data are analyzed and used for land productivity analysis and yield assessment,as well as Landsat 8,Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-1 time series are utilized for crop mapping.We calculate for the whole territory of Ukraine SDG indicators:15.1.1–‘Forest area as proportion of total land area’;15.3.1–‘Proportion of land that is degraded over total land area’;and 2.4.1–‘Proportion of agricultural area under productive and sustainable agriculture’.Workflows for calculating these indicators were implemented in a Virtual Laboratory Platform.We conclude that newly available high-resolution remote sensing products can significantly improve our capacity to assess several SDGs indicators through dedicated workflows.Nataliia Kussul Mykola Lavreniuk Andrii Kolotii Sergii Skakun Olena Rakoid Leonid Shumilo 2020International Journal of Digital Earth2020,13,2:3
14Defect detection in atomic-resolution images via unsupervised learning with translational invariance显示文摘Crystallographic defects can now be routinely imaged at atomic resolution with aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy(STEM)at high speed,with the potential for vast volumes of data to be acquired in relatively short times or through autonomous experiments that can continue over very long periods.Automatic detection and classification of defects in the STEM images are needed in order to handle the data in an efficient way.However,like many other tasks related to object detection and identification in artificial intelligence,it is challenging to detect and identify defects from STEM images.Furthermore,it is difficult to deal with crystal structures that have many atoms and low symmetries.Previous methods used for defect detection and classification were based on supervised learning,which requires human-labeled data.In this work,we develop an approach for defect detection with unsupervised machine learning based on a one-class support vector machine(OCSVM).We introduce two schemes of image segmentation and data preprocessing,both of which involve taking the Patterson function of each segment as inputs.We demonstrate that this method can be applied to various defects,such as point and line defects in 2D materials and twin boundaries in 3D nanocrystals.Yueming Guo Sergei V.Kalinin Hui Cai Kai Xiao Sergiy Krylyuk Albert V.Davydov Qianying Guo Andrew R.Lupini 2021npj Computational Materials2021,,1:2

16Oxidation of diesel soot on binary oxide Cu Cr(Co)-based monoliths显示文摘Binary oxide systems(Cu Cr2O4, Cu Co2O4), deposited onto cordierite monoliths of honeycomb structure with a second support(finely dispersed Al2O3), were prepared as filters for catalytic combustion of diesel soot using internal combustion engine's gas exhausts(O2, NOx, H2 O, CO2) and O3 as oxidizing agents. It is shown that the second support increases soot capacity of aforementioned filters, and causes dispersion of the particles of spinel phases as active components enhancing thereby catalyst activity and selectivity of soot combustion to CO2. Oxidants used can be arranged with reference to decreasing their activity in a following series: O3 NO2> H2 O > NO > O2> CO2. Ozone proved to be the most efficient oxidizing agent: the diesel soot combustion by O3 occurs intensively(in the presence of copper chromite based catalyst) even at closing to ambient temperatures.Results obtained give a basis for the conclusion that using a catalytic coating on soot filters in the form of aforementioned binary oxide systems and ozone as the initiator of the oxidation processes is a promising approach in solving the problem of comprehensive purification of automotive exhaust gases at relatively low temperatures, known as the 'cold start' problem.Sergiy O.Soloviev Andriy Y.Kapran Yaroslava P.Kurylets 2015Journal of Environmental Sciences2015,27,2:2

19Comparison of the Analgesic Effect of Low-Intensive Polarized Polychromatic Light and Analgesics显示文摘On the model of formalin test in mice,the analgesic effects of low-intensity polarized light(PL)of BIOPTRON device(480-3,400 nm,polarization up to 95%,power density 40 mW/cm^2)and three pharmacological analgesics(ibuprofen,analgin,tramal)were compared.We used analgesics in the optimal and half-dose,as well as half-doses of analgesics combined with the application of PL to the analgesic acupuncture point(AP)E-36.Pain was induced by subcutaneous injection of a 5%formalin solution(30μL)into the back of the foot of the left hind limb of the animal.The intensity of pain was judged by duration of pain(licking of the affected limb)and non-painful(sleeping,eating,running,washing)behavioral reactions during 60 minutes of observation.In animals that immediately after the creation of the locus of tonic pain,received an injection(intraperitoneally)of ibuprofen,analgin or tramal in optimal doses(30.0;8.3 and 1.7 mg/kg),duration of the pain response reduced by 46.0;74.9 and 56.2%,respectively.Half doses of these analgesics(15.0;4.2 and 0.8 mg/kg)weakened the pain by 23.1;28.5 and 34.2%.A statistically significant reduction of pain was also observed in groups where instead of analgesics,was applied a 10-min PL session to the anti-pain AP E-36(by 27.0%)or to the locus of pain(by 35.8%).These data indicate that PL analgesic effect is comparable to the effect of moderate doses of analgesics.Combined use of analgesic and PL suppresses pain more effectively than one analgesic in the same dose.The 10-minute PL application to the analgesic AP E-36 in 1.5-2 times(statistically significantly)increased the analgesic effect of small analgesics doses.In contrast to animals in which analgesia was caused by administration of high doses of analgesics,in the case of low doses of analgesic in combination with PL,caused no disturbances in motor activity and eating behavior.Clinical significance of the presented data is to prove the possibility of reducing the dose of analgesic pharmaceuticals by applying PL,which reduces the risk of unwanted side post-pharmacological effects.Sergiy A.
