Functional properties, phenolic constituents and antioxidant potential of industrial apple pomace for utilization as active food ingredient显示文摘Apple pomace is a waste biomass generated after apple fruit processing. In present investigation, efforts were made to comprehend influence of differently dried pomace on cell wall properties and phenolic profile.Different drying techniques were employed to remove moisture content from fresh apple pomace.Total dietary fiber yield(74%)and array of functional properties such as density, water and oil holding capacity, swelling capacity and glucose dialysis retardation index(36.91%)was found better in freeze dried fraction. The higher total phenolics(5.78±0.08 mg GAE/g dry weight)content was also recorded in freeze dried fraction followed by oven and sun drying. The 50%aqueous acetone was found as more efficient solvent for extraction of phenolic constituents.RP-HPLC analysis has revealed presence of quercetin, phloridzin and phloretin as major phenolics. Thus,it is evident from the results that pomace generated at industrial scale can be utilized as a source of dietary food ingredient. | Shalika Ranaa Sakshi Gupta Ajay Rana Shashi Bhushan | 2015 | Food Science and Human Wellness2015,4,4: | 8
Fluoroscopy guided percutaneous renal access in prone position显示文摘Percutaneous nephrolithotomy is a very commonly done procedure for management of renal calculus disease. Establishing a good access is the first and probably themost crucial step of this procedure. A proper access is the gateway to success. However, this crucial step has the steepest learning curve for, in a fluoroscopy guided access, it involves visualizing a three dimensional anatomy on a two dimensional fluoroscopy screen. This review describes the anatomical basis of the renal access. It provides a literature review of all aspects of percutaneous renal access along with the advances that have taken place in this field over the years. The article describes a technique to determine the site of skin puncture, the angle and depth of puncture using a simple mathematical principle. It also reviews the common problems faced during the process of puncture and dilatation and describes the ways to overcome them. The aim of this article is to provide the reader a step by step guide for percutaneous renal access. | Gyanendra R Sharma Pankaj N Maheshwari Anshu G Sharma Reeta P Maheshwari Ritwik S Heda Sakshi P Maheshwari | 2015 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2015,3,3: | 5

Among the QS-regulated traits of this bacterium, violacein production has received the maximum attention. Violacein production in this organism, however is not under sole control of QS machinery, and other QSregulated traits of this bacterium also need to be investigated in better detail. Though not often involved in human infections, this bacterium is being viewed as an emerging pathogen. This review attempts to highlight the recent research advances on Chromobacterium violaceum, with respect to violacein biosynthesis, development of various applications of this bacterium and its bioactive metabolite violacein, and its pathogenicity. | Vijay Kothari Sakshi Sharma Divya Padia | 2017 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2017,10,8: | 4 |
Correlation between soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products levels and coronary artery disease in postmenopausal nondiabetic women显示文摘BACKGROUND The established cardiovascular risk factors cannot explain the overall risk of coronary artery disease(CAD),especially in women. Therefore, there is a growing need for the assessment of novel biomarkers to identify women at risk. The receptor for advanced glycation end products(RAGE)and its interaction with the advanced glycation end product(AGE)ligand have been associated with atherogenesis. The soluble fraction of RAGE(sRAGE)antagonizes RAGE signaling and exerts an antiatherogenic effect.AIM The study aim was to explore the association between plasma levels of sRAGE and CAD in nondiabetic postmenopausal women.METHODS This case-control study included 110 nondiabetic postmenopausal women who were enrolled in two groups.Group I included 55 angiographically proven CAD subjects with>50%stenosis in at least one of the major coronary arteries and Group II included 55 healthy control women who did not have CAD or had<50%stenosis of the coronary arteries.Stenosis was confirmed by invasive angiography.Plasma sRAGE was determined by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS We observed significantly lower plasma sRAGE concentrations in subjects with CAD vs healthy controls(P<0.05).Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis also revealed a significant correlation between plasma sRAGE levels and CAD(P=0.01).Multivariate odds ratios for CAD revealed that subjects with sRAGE concentrations below 225 pg/mL(lowest quartile)had a 6-fold increase in CAD prevalence independent of other risk factors.CONCLUSION Our findings indicated that low sRAGE levels were independently associated with CAD in nondiabetic postmenopausal women.Risk assessment of CAD in postmenopausal women can be improved by including sRAGE along with other risk factors. | Soumitra Ghosh Divya Kapoor Rajesh Vijayvergiya Sonal Sangwan Sujata Wangkheimayum Sakshi Mehta Veena Dhawan | 2021 | World Journal of Cardiology2021,13,5: | 2

Effects of heterofunctional alkali-metal formate doping on perovskite solar cell performance显示文摘Various internal and external defects present in the perovskite film are one of the main factors that causelow efficiency and stability, and in order to realize high-performance perovskite solar cells, it is necessaryto develop a method to effectively suppress them. In this study, a heterofunctional dopants strategy wasattempted to integrate the effect of alkali metal cations (Rbþ and Kþ) and formate anion (HCOO) throughdoping engineering with alkali-metal formates, i.e., rubidium formate (RbHCOO) and potassium formate(KHCOO). Inclusive physical and photoelectric analysis revealed that doping with a small amount ofalkali-metal formate leads to crystal growth and reduction of grain boundaries, and further passivates orinhibits bulk and surface defects. As a result, the photogenerated charge recombination was reduced andthe charge carrier transport was improved, leading to improved PSC performance. RbHCOO-dopedinverted planar PSCs achieved a PCE of up to 20.41% with long-term stability. Our findings provide away for producing high-quality perovskite films with low defect densities that are essential for realizinghigh-performance PSCs. | Sakshi Thakur Sung-Nam Kwon Dilpreet Singh Mann Seok-In Na | 2022 | Journal of Materiomics2022,8,6: | 1

Cancer treatment with biosimilar drugs:A review显示文摘Biosimilars are biological drugs created from living organisms or that contain living components. They share an identical amino-acid sequence and immunogenicity. These drugs are considered to be cost-effective and are utilized in the treatment of cancer and other endocrine disorders. The primary aim of biosimilars is to predict biosimilarity, efficacy, and treatment costs;they are approved by the Food and Drug Administration(FDA)and have no clinical implications. They involve analytical studies to understand the similarities and dissimilarities.A biosimilar manufacturer sets up FDA-approved reference products to evaluate biosimilarity. The contribution of next-generation sequencing is evolving to study the organ tumor and its progression with its impactful therapeutic approach on cancer patients to showcase and target rare mutations. The study shall help to understand the future perspectives of biosimilars for use in gastro-entero-logic diseases, colorectal cancer, and thyroid cancer. They also help target specific organs with essential mutational categories and drug prototypes in clinical practices with blood and liquid biopsy, cell treatment, gene therapy, recombinant therapeutic proteins, and personalized medications.Biosimilar derivatives such as monoclonal antibodies like trastuzumab and rituximab are common drugs used in cancer therapy.Escherichia coli produces more than six antibodies or antibody-derived proteins to treat cancer such as filgrastim, epoetin alfa, and so on. | Shilpa Malakar Emmanuel Nuah Gontor Moses YDugbaye Kamal Shah Sakshi Sinha Priya Sutaoney Nagendra Singh Chauhan | 2024 | Cancer Innovation2024,3,2: | 0
Fragment emission and critical behavior in light and heavy charged systems显示文摘We study the emission of fragments in central collisions of light and heavily charged systems of^4+Ar+^45 Sc and^s4Kr+^197 Au,respectively, using the Quantum Molecular Dynamics(QMD)model as the primary model. The fragments are identified using an energy based clusterization algorithm,i.e.,the Simulated Annealing Clusterization Algorithm(SACA).The charge distributions of intermediate mass fragments[3≤Zf≤12]are fitted with power-law(∝Zf^-τ)and exp on ential(∝e^-λZf)fits in order to extract the parametersτandλ,whose minimum values are also sometimes linked with the onset of fragmentation or the critical point for a liquid-gas phase transition.Other parameters such as the normalized second moment,<γ2>,average size of the second largest cluster, phase separation parameter(Sp),bimodal parameter(P),information entropy(H),and Zipfs law are also analyzed to find the exact energy of the onset of fragmentation. Our detailed analysis predicts that an energy point exists between 20-23.1 MeV/nucleon,which is very close to the experimentally observed value of 23.9 MeV/nucleon for the^40Ar+^45Sc reaction. We also find that the critical energy deduced using Zipfs law is higher than those predicted from other critical exponents. Moreover,no minimum is found for t values of the highly charged system of^84Kr+^197Au,in agreement with experimental findings and various theoretical calculations. We observe that the QMD+SACA model calculations are in agreement with the experimental observations. This agreement supports our results regarding the energy point of the liquid-gas phase transition and the onset of fragmentation. | Samiksha Sood Rohit Kumar Arun Sharma Sakshi Gautam Rajeev K.Puri | 2021 | Chinese Physics C2021,45,1: | 0
Obtaining Crisp Priorities for Triangular and Trapezoidal Fuzzy Judgments显示文摘This paper proposes anoptimal fuzzy-based model for obtaining crisp priorities for Fuzzy-AHP comparison matrices.Crisp judgments cannot be given for real-life situations,as most of these include some level of fuzziness and com-plexity.In these situations, judgments are represented by the set of fuzzy numbers. Most of the fuzzy optimization models derive crisp priorities for judgments repre-sented with Triangular Fuzzy Numbers(TFNs)only. They do not work for other types of Triangular Shaped Fuzzy Numbers(TSFNs)and Trapezoidal Fuzzy Numbers(TrFNs).To overcome this problem,a sum of squared error(SSE)based optimization model is proposed.Unlike some other methods, the proposed model derives crisp weights from all of the above-mentioned fuzzy judgments.A fuzzy number is simulated using the Monte Carlo method.A threshold-based constraint is also applied to minimize the deviation from the initial judgments.Genetic Algorithm(GA)is used to solve the optimization model. We have also conducted casestudiesto show the proposed approach’s advantages over the existingmethods. Results show that the proposed model outperforms other models to minimize SSE and deviation from initial judgments. Thus, the proposed model can be applied in various real time scenarios as it can reduce the SSE value upto 29%compared to the existing studies. | Raman Kumar Goyal Jaskirat Singh Nidhi Kalra Anshu Parashar Gagan Singla Sakshi Kaushal | 2022 | Computer Systems Science & Engineering2022,41,4: | 0
Sex and stress modulate pupal defense response in tobacco hornworm显示文摘In insects, larval and adult defenses against predators have been well studied. However, pupal(also known as resting stage)defenses have been overlooked and not examined thoroughly.Although some pupa possess antipredator strategies such as hairs, spines, cryptic coloration, and exudation of chemicals, few studies have tested these responses and the factors affecting them. Here,we investigated the behavioral responses in tobacco hornworm Manduca sexta that pupates in soil by introducing an external stimulus using vibrations from an electric toothbrush to mimic predation. We observed that M.sexta made violent wriggling(twitching),followed by pulsating movements in response to the vibrational stimulus.Detailed examination showed that these twitches and pulsating events occurred more frequently and for longer periods of time in male pupa and were dependent on the magnitude of the stress(high and low frequency). However, when we estimated the angular force exerted by pupa using radian and angular momentum of twitches,it was found to be independent of pupal sex.A follow-up experiment on possible cascading effects of stress exposure on eclosion success revealed that low-and high-frequency stress exposure didn’t cause any of the common defects in eclosed adults. Our study clearly demonstrates that the so-called defenseless pupal stage uses a wide range of measurable defense behaviors that can actively defend against predators and should be examined further-linking observed behavior with underlying mechanisms. | Sukhman Singh Sakshi Watts Ishveen Kaur Isabella Rodriguez Jessica Ayala Dariela Rodriguez Elian Martin Rupesh Kariyat | 2023 | Current Zoology2023,69,5: | 0
Extraction,Utilization Pattern and Prioritization of Fuel Resources for Conservation in Manali Wildlife Sanctuary,Northwestern Himalaya显示文摘Fuelwood is the main source of the energy in mountainous regions.Hence, annual wood consumption is very high.Information on fuelwood resources, and their extraction and availability is very scanty. Therefore, present study was carried out to study the diversity of fuelwood species, annual collection, preference and availability of fuel species in the forests.Thirty four species(25 trees and 9 shrubs) were extracted for fuel by the inhabitants.Total collection and species preference was highest for Picea smithiana,Cedrus deodara,Indigofera heterantha,Pinus wallchiana and Sorbaria tomentosa, respectively.Resource use index indicating use pressure was highest for P.smithiana,C.deodara,I.heterantha and Abies pindrow, respectively.Besides native species, some non-native horticultural and agroforestry species such as Malus pumila,P.domestica,Celtis australis, etc.were also being used as fuel.Preferred species showed their availability in eight forest types whereas, population and regeneration status was poor. Therefore, immediate actions are suggested to sustain current and future demand of fuelwood. The afforestation of degraded, uncultivated and marginal lands through high quality and preferred fuel species might reduce pressure on wild and selective species. | Man S.RANA Sakshi B.RANA S.S.SAMANT | 2012 | Journal of Mountain Science2012,9,4: | 0
“A stitch in time”: Intraoperative diaphragmatic injury during laparoscopic nephrectomy - A case of immediate recognition and expert management显示文摘Laparoscopy within the urology field has undergone a noteworthy surge in popularity over the past decade, with particular importance given to renal surgeries such as simple nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, donor nephrectomy, nephroureterectomy, and partial nephrectomy.1 This shift toward laparoscopic procedures among urologists can be attributed to the many benefits of these procedures, including reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery times.2 However,as with any evolving surgical technique, laparoscopic procedures in renal surgery bring forth their own set of distinctive challenges and complications. | Prakash Gyandev Gondode Sridhar Panaiyadiyan Neha Garg Sakshi Duggal | 2024 | Laparoscopic, Endoscopic and Robotic Surgery2024,7,1: | 0
