1Angular observation of joints of geckos moving on horizontal and vertical surfaces显示文摘Because of their outstanding climbing and motor coordination ability, geckos have provided the basis for a peculiar bionic model leading to the development of a geckorobot. A three-dimensional locomotion observation system was constructed to measure angular orientations of joints while geckos trotted (337.1 mm/s) and walked (66.7 mm/s) on horizontal surfaces, and trotted (241.5mm/s) and walked (30.6mm/s) on vertical surfaces. Moving over horizontal surfaces, the joints rotated more quickly the greater the speed, and the swinging scope of forelimbs stayed nearly at 59 degrees when swinging forward, but extended from 72 degrees to 79.2 degrees when swinging backward. The lifting angle of forelimbs was always positive to keep the center of mass close to the surface when moving up vertical surfaces, the scope of the forward swinging forelimbs forward extended from 33.7 degrees to 36.7 degrees with increasing speed, while the scope of backward swinging forelimbs remained almost the same at 87.5 degrees. 2Geographical Patterns of Chinese Ethnic Minority Population Composition and Ethnic Diversity显示文摘Ethnicity is a carrier of language and culture.Spatial distribution of ethnic diversity is fundamental for identifying and reconstructing the migration patterns and evolution histories of cultures and languages.Utilizing the Chinese 4th National Census (1990) data,we investigated the specific time geographical patterns of population and diversity of Chinese ethnicminorities.As anticipated,results show that Chineseminorities are chiefly concentrated in dis-tant plateaus and mountains in the southwest,northwest and northeast of China.Further,population density centers of the 10 majorminorities are rather scattered,alternatively dominating at different parts of the country.This study pro-vides a first comprehensive quantitative test on a prevailing notion of 'six plates and three corridors' on the empirical clustering patterns of Chinese ethnicminorities.There are more consistent evidences supporting this notion in the north of China,with the central and southern regions showing more complex patterns,potentially transformed by processes such as migration,fragmentation,and percolation.The results of this study suggest that a geographical ap-proach can provide heuristic and complementary information for better understanding of historical social processes.SHEN Zehao LI Peng SUN Hongkai PANG Lihua 2011Chinese Geographical Science2011,21,4:3

5Progress on deuterated potassium dihydrogen phosphate(DKDP)crystals for high power laser system application显示文摘In this review,we introduce the progress in the growth of large-aperture DKDP crystals and some aspects of crystal quality including determination of deuterium content,homogeneity of deuterium distribution,residual strains,nonlinear absorption,and laser-induced damage resistance for its application in high power laser system.Large-aperture high-quality DKDP crystal with deuteration level of 70%has been successfully grown by the traditional method,which can fabricate the large single-crystal optics with the size exceeding 400 mm.Neutron diffraction technique is an efficient method to research the deuterium content and 3D residual strains in single crystals.More efforts have been paid in the processes of purity of raw materials,continuous filtration technology,thermal annealing and laser conditioning for increasing the laser-induced damage threshold(LIDT)and these processes enable the currently grown crystals to meet the specifications of the laser system for inertial confinement fusion(ICF),although the laser damage mechanism and laser conditioning mechanism are still not well understood.The advancements on growth of large-aperture high-quality DKDP crystal would support the development of ICF in China.Mingxia Xu Baoan Liu Lisong Zhang Hongkai Ren Qingtian Gu Xun Sun Shenglai Wang Xinguang Xu 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,9:1

12Common Innovations in Sino-Tibetan Languages显示文摘To establish a classification on the basis of genetic linguistics requires two indispensible conditions: common retention, including cognate lexical retention and cognate morphological retention, and common innovation in a language group. The first condition is primary, and is the motivation for classification and the evidence of a genetic relationship. The second condition is secondary and supportive, and is the feature,approach and sign of a language group. This article focuses on common innovations in the Sino-Tibetan language family. 13Sodium butyrate activates HMGCS2 to promote ketone body production through SIRT5-mediated desuccinylation显示文摘Ketone bodies have beneficial metabolic activities,and the induction of plasma ketone bodies is a health promotion strategy.Dietary supplementation of sodium butyrate(SB)is an effective approach in the induction of plasma ketone bodies.However,the cellular and molecular mechanisms are unknown.In this study,SB was found to enhance the catalytic activity of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA synthase 2(HMGCS2),a rate-limiting enzyme in ketogenesis,to promote ketone body production in hepatocytes.SB administrated by gavage or intraperitoneal injection significantly induced bloodβ-hydroxybutyrate(BHB)in mice.BHB production was induced in the primary hepatocytes by SB.Protein succinylation was altered by SB in the liver tissues with down-regulation in 58 proteins and up-regulation in 26 proteins in the proteomics analysis.However,the alteration was mostly observed in mitochondrial proteins with 41%down-and 65%up-regulation,respectively.Succinylation status of HMGCS2 protein was altered by a reduction at two sites(K221 and K358)without a change in the protein level.The SB effect was significantly reduced by a SIRT5 inhibitor and in Sirt5-KO mice.The data suggests that SB activated HMGCS2 through SIRT5-mediated desuccinylation for ketone body production by the liver.The effect was not associated with an elevation in NAD+/NADH ratio according to our metabolomics analysis.The data provide a novel molecular mechanism for SB activity in the induction of ketone body production.Yanhong Xu Xiaotong Ye Yang Zhou Xinyu Cao Shiqiao Peng Yue Peng Xiaoying Zhang Yili Sun Haowen Jiang Wenying Huang Hongkai Lian Jiajun Yang Jia Li Jianping Ye 2023Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,2:0
