Disassembly of the fruit cell wall by the ripening-associated polygalacturonase and expansin influences tomato cracking显示文摘Fruit cracking is an important problem in horticultural crop production.Polygalacturonase(SlPG)and expansin(SlEXP1)proteins cooperatively disassemble the polysaccharide network of tomato fruit cell walls during ripening and thereby, enable softening.A Golden 2-like(GLK2)transcription factor,SlGLK2 regulates unripe fruit chloroplast development and results in elevated soluble solids and carotenoids in ripe fruit. To determine whether SlPG,SlEXP1,or SlGLK2 influence the rate of tomato fruit cracking, the incidence of fruit epidermal cracking was compared between wild-type,Ailsa Craig(WT)and fruit with suppressed SlPG and SlEXP1 expression(pg/exp)or expressing a truncated nonfunctional Slglk2(glk2).Treating plants with exogenous ABA increases xylemic flow into fruit. Our results showed that ABA treatment of tomato plants greatly increased cracking of fruit from WT and glk2 mutant, but not from pg/exp genotypes. The pg/exp fruit were firmer, had higher total soluble solids, denser cell walls and thicker cuticles than fruit of the other genotypes.Fruit from the ABA treated pg/exp fruit had cell walls with less water-soluble and more ionically and covalently-bound pectins than fruit from the other lines, demonstrating that ripening-related disassembly of the fruit cell wall, but not elimination of SlGLK2,influences cracking.Cracking incidence was significantly correlated with cell wall and wax thickness, and the content of cell wall protopectin and cellulose, but not with Ca^(2+)content.Fangling Jiang Alfonso Lopez Shinjae Jeon Sergio Tonetto de Freitas Qinghui Yu Zhen Wu John M.Labavitch Shengke Tian Ann L.T.Powell Elizabeth Mitcham 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:13
Effect of physiological integration in self/non-self genotype recognition on the clonal invader Carpobrotus edulis显示文摘Aims biological invasions represent one of the most important threats to the conservation of biodiversity;however, the mechanisms underlying successful invaders remain unsolved.many of the most aggres-sive invaders show clonal growth, and capacity for clonal integration has been pointed out recently as an important trait explaining the success of invasive plants. We aim to determine the role of physi-ological integration in the capacity for self/non-self genotype recog-nition in the clonal invader Carpobrotus edulis and the implications of this capacity for the expansion of this aggressive invader. Methods We used connected and severed ramets of identical or different gen-otype and we determined the capacity for self/non-self recognition by comparing changes in biomass partitioning to avoid competition for resources between pairs of ramets.Important Findings Physiological integration allowed self/non-self genotype recogni-tion in the invader C.edulis.results showed a significant effect of physiological integration on the biomass allocated to roots by genetically identical ramets:older ramets specialize in acqui-sition of soil-based resources and younger ramets specialize in lateral expansion.this specialization could be considered a form of division of labour, which reduce intra-genotype competition.this is the first evidence that division of labour could be inter-preted as a form of self/non-self recognition between genetically identical ramets.Capacity for self/non-self discrimination could contribute to increase the colonization capacity of the aggressive invader C.edulis.this is the first study showing an association between self/non-self recognition and invasiveness in a clonal plant.Sergio R.Roiloa Susana Rodríguez-Echeverría Helena Freitas 2014Journal of Plant Ecology2014,7,4:5
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography drainage for palliation of malignant hilar biliary obstruction——stent-in-stent or side-by-side?A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND Biliary drainage, either by the stent-in-stent(SIS)or side-by-side(SBS)technique,is often required when treating a malignant hilar biliary obstruction(MHBO).Both methods differ from each other and have distinct advantages.AIM To compare both techniques regarding their efficacy and safety in achieving drainage of MHBO.METHODS A comprehensive search of multiple electronic databases(MEDLINE,Embase,LILACS,BIREME,Cochrane)was conducted and grey literature from their inception until December 2020 with no restrictions regarding the year of publication or language, since there was at least an abstract in English. The included studies compared SIS and SBS techniques through endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.Outcomes analyzed included technical and clinical success, early and late adverse events(AEs),stent patency, reintervention, and procedure-related mortality.RESULTS Four cohort studies and one randomized controlled trial evaluating a total of 250 patients(127 in the SIS group and 123 in the SBS group)were included in this study. There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups concerning the evaluated outcomes, except for stent patency, which was higher in the SIS compared with the SBS technique[mean difference(d)=33.31;95%confidence interval:9.73 to 56.90,I2=45%,P=0.006].CONCLUSION The SIS method showed superior stent patency when compared to SBS for achieving bilateral drainage in MHBO.Both techniques are equivalent in terms of technical success, clinical success, rates of both early and late AEs,reintervention, and procedure-related mortality.Gabriel Mayo Vieira de Souza Igor Braga Ribeiro Mateus Pereira Funari Diogo Turiani Hourneaux de Moura Maria Vitória Cury Vieira Scatimburgo João Remíde Freitas Júnior Sergio A Sánchez-Luna Renato Baracat Eduardo Turiani Hourneaux de Moura Wanderley Marques Bernardo Eduardo Guimarães Hourneaux de Moura 2021World Journal of Hepatology2021,13,5:1

EmissV: A Preprocessor for WRF-Chem Model显示文摘Air quality models are tools capable to predict the physical and chemical processes that affect air pollutants as they disperse and reacts in the atmosphere. These models need input containing meteorological data, terrestrial data and emissions. Meteorological and terrestrial data comes from different sources such as meteorological stations and satellite images which are important to represent the current state of the atmosphere and are available at least on a daily frequency. On the other hand, the emission data comes from pollution inventories generated mainly from governmental reports, this data needs to be processed by various reasons such as the correction of outdated emissions, for combining inventories or to speciate the emitted pollutants to different chemical mechanisms. EmissV is a code written into a high-level programming language to create emissions input for these atmospheric models. The emissions from EmissV are coherent with the total and the spatial distribution of emissions obtained from other preprocessors.Daniel Schuch Sergio ibarra edmilson Dias de Freitas Maria de Fátima Andrade 2018Journal of Atmospheric Science Research2018,1,1:0
Diversity of the endophytic filamentous fungal leaf community at different development stages of eucalyptus显示文摘Fungal endophytic species inhabiting the leaves of eucalypts are capable of utilising leaf sugars and can influence both plant growth and health. Endophytic fungal symbionts can use simple soluble sugars in leaves as their main carbon source. This study set out to determine the diversity and distribution of the endophytic filamentous fungal leaf community in the hybrid Eucalyptus urograndis due to its economic importance. The fungal leaf community was characterised using denaturing gradient electrophoresis (DGGE) and correlated with levels of leaf nutrients and sugars throughout plant development. Sequencing of DGGE bands revealed the presence of Basidiomycota and Ascomycota phyla. Fourteen species and three genera of filamentous fungi were identified, and the population structure was affected by the plant developmental stage. Levels of K, Cu, N and Mn influenced communities from the clonal garden, whereas leaves in the field had higher glucose, fructose and sucrose. Many fungi were found to be specific to a certain development stages: Diplomitoporus crustulinus, Podosphaera tridactyla and Aspergillus restrictus to the clonal garden stage;Chaetomella acutiseta and Ascotricha chartarum to the shading stage;Erratomyces patelii and Saxomyces sp. to the shading output stage;Lepidostroma sp. and Saxomyces sp. to the dispatch stage;and Mycosphaerella populicola to the field stage. Teratosphaeria toledana and Teratosphaeria acidotherma were found at more than one developmental stage. Cladosporium sp. and Rhodosporidium fluviale colonized and persisted in plants at the dispatch and field stages. This is the first report of P. tridactyla, A. restrictus, E. patelii, Saxomyces and Lepidostroma sp. as endophytes in eucalipt.Paulo Sergio Balbino Miguel Fabio Balbino Miguel Bruno Coutinho Moreira Marcelo Nagem Valerio de Oliveira Julio Cesar Delvaux Fernanda de Souza Freitas Arnaldo Chaer Borges Maurcio Dutra Costa 2019Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,3:0
