2Dietary overlap of snow leopard and other carnivores in the Pamirs of Northwestern China显示文摘Information about competition between carnivore species for food within high altitude regions is limited.Data collected from the Taxkorgan Nature Reserve,China revealed important interactions between snow leopard(Panthera uncia),grey wolf(Canis lupus),red fox(Vulpes vulpes)and their prey species,including domestic livestock.Sixty-four line transects were conducted in order to identify field signs of habitat occupancy and collect scats for diet analysis.High dietary overlap was observed between all three carnivore species:snow leopard and red fox(Pianka’s index=0.96),red fox and grey wolf(Pianka’s index=0.90),snow leopard and grey wolf(Pianka’s index=0.87).Snow leopard and grey wolf showed significant predation on livestock(36.8%for snow leopard and 29.4%for grey wolf in diet composition).As a pioneering exploration of the endangered snow leopard and its relationship with other species within the alpine ecosystem under livestock grazing pressure,this study contributes a greater understanding of the relationship within carnivore guild in the Pamirs whilst providing implications for conservation planning and project implementation activities in China.Jun Wang Alice Laguardia Peter John Damerell Philip Riordan Kun Shi 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,25:8
3新疆塔什库尔干岩羊和北山羊种群密度调查显示文摘有蹄类动物为新疆塔什库尔干地区分布的雪豹、狼和猞猁等捕食动物提供了重要的食物资源。为了掌握该地区主要野生有蹄类动物的种群密度,于2009年2~3月通过车行样线和步行样线2种调查方式,采用距离取样方法,对岩羊和北山羊种群数量进行了调查分析。车行样线调查获得的岩羊密度为1.791~6.751只/km^2,北山羊密度为0~0.140只/km^2。步行样线调查获得的密度较低,岩羊和北山羊分别为0.008~0.698只/km^2和0.023~0.252只/km^2。调查结果显示该地区岩羊和北山羊种群密度较上世纪80年代中期有所下降。王君 时坤 Philip Riordan 2012野生动物2012,33,3:8

5Campylobacter concisus and inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘Investigation of the possible role of Campylobacter concisus(C. concisus) in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is an emerging research area. Despite the association found between C. concisus and IBD, it has been difficult to explain how C. concisus, a bacterium that is commonly present in the human oral cavity, may contribute to the development of enteric diseases. The evidence presented in this review shows that some C. concisus strains in the oral cavity acquired zonula occludens toxin(zot) gene from a virus(prophage) and that C. concisus Zot shares conserved motifs with both Vibrio cholerae Zot receptor binding domain and human zonulin receptor binding domain. Both Vibrio cholerae Zot and human zonulin are known to increase intestinal permeability by affecting the tight junctions. Increased intestinal permeability is a feature of IBD. 7A Parameter-Uniform Finite Difference Method for a Coupled System of Convection-Diffusion Two-Point Boundary Value Problems显示文摘A system of m (≥2) linear convection-diffusion two-point boundary value problems is examined,where the diffusion term in each equation is multiplied by a small parameterεand the equations are coupled through their convective and reactive terms via matrices B and A respectively.This system is in general singularly perturbed. Unlike the case of a single equation,it does not satisfy a conventional maximum princi- ple.Certain hypotheses are placed on the coupling matrices B and A that ensure exis- tence and uniqueness of a solution to the system and also permit boundary layers in the components of this solution at only one endpoint of the domain;these hypotheses can be regarded as a strong form of diagonal dominance of B.This solution is decomposed into a sum of regular and layer components.Bounds are established on these compo- nents and their derivatives to show explicitly their dependence on the small parameterε.Finally,numerical methods consisting of upwinding on piecewise-uniform Shishkin meshes are proved to yield numerical solutions that are essentially first-order conver- gent,uniformly inε,to the true solution in the discrete maximum norm.Numerical results on Shishkin meshes are presented to support these theoretical bounds.Eugene O'Riordan Jeanne Stynes Martin Stynes 2008Numerical Mathematics(Theory,Methods and Applications)2008,1,2:3
