| 1 | Machine learning guided appraisal and exploration of phase design for high entropy alloys显示文摘High entropy alloys(HEAs)and compositionally complex alloys(CCAs)have recently attracted great research interest because of their remarkable mechanical and physical properties.Although many useful HEAs or CCAs were reported,the rules of phase design,if there are any,which could guide alloy screening are still an open issue.In this work,we made a critical appraisal of the existing design rules commonly used by the academic community with different machine learning(ML)algorithms.Based on the artificial neural network algorithm,we were able to derive and extract a sensitivity matrix from the ML modeling,which enabled the quantitative assessment of how to tune a design parameter for the formation of a certain phase,such as solid solution,intermetallic,or amorphous phase.Furthermore,we explored the use of an extended set of new design parameters,which had not been considered before,for phase design in HEAs or CCAs with the ML modeling.To verify our ML-guided design rule,we performed various experiments and designed a series of alloys out of the Fe-Cr-Ni-Zr-Cu system.The outcomes of our experiments agree reasonably well with our predictions,which suggests that the ML-based techniques could be a useful tool in the future design of HEAs or CCAs. | Ziqing Zhou Yeju Zhou Quanfeng He Zhaoyi Ding Fucheng Li Yong Yang | 2019 | npj Computational Materials2019,,1: | 16 |

| 3 | Geological event sequences of the Permian-Triassic transition recorded in the microfacies in Meishan section显示文摘The microfacies sequence in the key interval of Beds 24―29 of the Meishan section comprehensively recorded the geological events during the Permian-Triassic transition, including the anoxia, storm disturbance, hard-ground/firm-ground form, volcanic eruption, weathering input, and microbialite development. This investigation of event sequences on the microfacies provided synthetically some clues to clarifying the previously proposed mechanisms of the end-Permian extinction. The deposit succession in Bed 24 of the Changxing Formation was developed dominantly with organic-rich lamina, but interrupted intermittently by storm disturbances. It indicates characteristically a stagnated, stratified and anoxic ocean during the latest Permian. The latest Permian transgression occurred rapidly at the top of Bed 24d and was characterized by the hard-ground interface. Abundant clay mineral of illite indicates the occurrence of persistent weathering of continental volcanics and then buried in ocean throughout this key Permo-Triassic transitional interval. However, the 'boundary ash clay' of Bed 25 yielding normal grading of hyaloclastite was the result of precipitation of volcanic dusts. The firm-ground substrate in Unit 27-2 was lithe and excavated intensively by trace fossil Glossifungites; it means also the occurrence of the earliest Triassic rapid transgression and coincides with the first appearance of conodont Hindeodus parvus. | 4 | Dynamics of major air pollutants from crop residue burning in China's Mainland,2000–2014显示文摘Based on satellite image data and China's Statistical Yearbooks(2000 to 2014), we estimated the total mass of crop residue burned, and the proportion of residue burned in the field vs.indoors as domestic fuel. The total emissions of various pollutants from the burning of crop residue were estimated for 2000-2014 using the emission factor method. The results indicate that the total amount of crop residue and average burned mass were 8690.9 Tg and4914.6 Tg, respectively. The total amount of emitted pollutants including CO_2, CO, NOx,VOCs, PM_(2.5), OC(organic carbon), EC(element carbon) and TC(total carbon) were 4212.4–8440.9 Tg, 192.8–579.4 Tg, 4.8–19.4 Tg, 18.6–61.3 Tg, 18.8–49.7 Tg, 6.7–31.3 Tg, 2.3–4.7 Tg, and8.5–34.1 Tg, respectively. The emissions of pollutants released from crop residue burning were found to be spatially variable, with the burning of crop residue mainly occurring in Northeast, North and South China. In addition, pollutant emissions per unit area(10 km ×10 km) were mostly concentrated in the central and eastern regions of China. Emissions of CO_2, NOx, VOCs, OC and TC were mainly from rice straw burning, while burning of corn and wheat residues contributed most to emissions of CO, PM_(2.5) and EC. The increased ratio of PM_(2.5) emissions from crop residue burning to the total emitted from industry during the study period is attributed to the implementation of strict emissions management policies in Chinese industry. | 5 | An electrochemical impedance spectroscopic study of the electronic and ionic transport properties of LiCoO_2 cathode显示文摘The storage behavior and process of the first delithiation-lithiation of LiCoO2 cathode were investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). The electronic and ionic transport properties of LiCoO2 cathode along with variation of electrode potential were obtained in 1 mol·L?1 LiPF6-EC:DMC:DEC electrolyte solution. It was found that after 9 h storage of the LiCoO2 cathode in electrolyte solu-tions,a new arc appears in the medium frequency range in Nyquist plots of EIS,which increases with increasing the storage time. In the charge/discharge processes,the diameter of the new arc is reversi-bly changed with electrode potential. Such variation coincides well with the electrode potential de-pendence of electronic conductivity of the LiCoO2. Thus this new EIS feature is attributed to the change of electronic conductivity of LixCoO2 during storage of the LiCoO2 cathode in electrolyte solutions,as well as in processes of intercalation-deintercalationtion of lithium ions. | 6 | Effect of variety and drying method on the nutritive value of corn for growing pigs显示文摘Background:This experiment was conducted to determine the nutritive value of corn from the north of China for growing pigs.The experiment examined corn variety(LS1,LS2,LS3 and LS4)grown in one location,drying method(sun dried and artificially dried)and different drying temperatures.Corn harvested at 20-25%moisture was dried to about 12%moisture by sun drying and artificially drying at 80,100,or 120℃ in a fluidized bed dryer.Ninety-six barrows(average BW of 33.4 ± 2.7 kg)were housed in individual metabolism crates to facilitate separate collection of feces and urine.A five-day collection period followed a seven-day diet acclimation period.Results:The results indicated that variety significantly influenced(P<0.01)the 1,000 kernel weight of corn but not the bulk weight.Variety also influenced the available energy content(digestible energy of dry matter,P<0.01;metabolisable energy of dry matter,P<0.01)and digestibility of organic matter(P<0.01),as well as dry matter(P<0.01)and gross energy(GE)content(P<0.02).The drying method of corn significantly influenced the 1,000 kernel weight(P<0.01),bulk weight(P<0.01)and digestibility of ether extract(EE)(P<0.01).No effect of drying temperature on the digestibility of organic matter,dry matter(DM),crude protein(CP),neutral detergent fiber(NDF),acid detergent fiber(ADF)and gross energy was observed,but gelatinization(P<0.05)and test weight(P<0.01)decreased with an increase in temperature.Conclusions:Variety has a significant impact on the nutritive value of corn for growing pigs,and greater attention needs to be paid to these influences in the assignment of the nutritive value of corn given to growing pigs. | Quanfeng Li Meng Shi Chuanxin Shi Dewen Liu Xiangshu Piao Defa Li Changhua Lai | 2014 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2014,5,4: | 5 |
| 7 | Sedimentary features of the Permian-Triassic boundary sequence of the Meishan section in Changxing County,Zhejiang Province显示文摘The Global Stratotype Section and Point(GSSP) for the Permian-Triassic boundary was placed in Bed 27 of Meishan section D where the conodont species Hindeodus parvus first occurs.Bed 27 was usually considered comprising continuouslydeposited,homogeneous silty limestone,with no depositional hiatus near the boundary.Detailed study on the boundary sequence revealed that a typical firmground characterized by Glossifungites ichnofacies developed about 2 cm below the Permian-Triassic boundary in Bed 27.Fossil content and lithology show apparent differences across the firmground crust.The abundance of the Permian bioclasts decreases significantly across the firmground,and is accompanied by a shift of dominating carbonate precipitation from calcite to dolomite.The firmground marked a rapid transgression at the very end of the Late Permian and significant shifts of sedimentary environment and paleoclimate.This transgressive submerging surface is also observed at the Huangzhishan section of the shallow-water carbonate platform facies in Zhejiang Province,the Jiangya section of the lower-slope to basinal-margin facies in Hunan Province,the Pingdingshan section of the basinal facies in Anhui Province of South China,as well as the Selong section in Tibet of the northern peri-Gondwana.The transgressive submerging surface marks the onset of a rapid global transgression at the latest Permian. | ZHENG QuanFeng CAO ChangQun ZHANG MingYuan | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,6: | 4 |
| 8 | Use of near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy for the rapid determination of the digestible energy and metabolizable energy content of corn fed to growing pigs显示文摘Background: The ability of near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy(NIRS) to determine the digestible energy(DE)and metabolizable energy(ME) content of corn fed to growing pigs was tested. One hundred and seventeen corn samples, comprising different planting regions and varieties were collected from all over China in a three-year period. The samples were randomly split into a calibration set(n = 88) and a validation set(n = 29). The actual and calculated DE and ME content of the corn samples was determined by digestion-metabolism experiments and the prediction equations of Noblet and Perez(J Anim Sci. 71:3389–98,1993). The samples were then subjected to NIRS scanning and calibrations were performed by the modified partial least square(MPLS) regression method based on77 different spectral pre-treatments. The NIRS equations based on the actually determined and calculated DE and ME were built separately and then validated using validation samples.Results: The NIRS equations obtained from actually determined DE, the coefficient of determination for calibration(RSQ_(cal)), cross-validation(R^2_(CV)), and validation(RSQ_v) were 0.89, 0.87 and 0.86, and these values for determined ME were 0.87, 0.86 and 0.86. For the NIRS equations built from calculated DE, the RSQ_(cal), R^2_(CV), and RSQvvalues were 0.88, 0.85 and 0.84, and these values for calculated ME were 0.86, 0.84 and 0.82. The results demonstrate that the study of the variation of EIS feature of the graphite electrode in the two-electrode button cell with electrode polarization potential decreasing in the first lithiation cannot be used to investigate the formation mechanism of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) film. However, the formation and growth process of the SEI film can be acquired by investigating the variation of EIS features of the graphite electrode in the three-electrode glass cell with the decrease of electrode po-larization potential in the first lithiation. | 11 | Neuroprotective effects of Suhexiang Wan on the in vitro and in vivo models of Parkinson’s disease显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To examine the role of KSOP1009(a modified formulation of Suhexiang Wan essential oil)in an animal model of Parkinson's disease(PD)induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-pyridine(MPTP)injection.METHODS:Cell toxicity,apoptosis,and reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels were analyzed in the human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5 Y.After that,changes in animal behavior and tyrosine hydroxylase(TH)protein levels in the substantia nigra(SN)of MPTP-injected mice were examined.Three different doses of KSOP1009(30,100,and 300 mg/kg,n=8 for each group)were administered daily for 7 d before MPTP injection and 14 d after MPTP injection,totaling 21 d.RESULTS:MPP+,the active metabolite of MPTP,decreased the viability of SH-SY5 Y cells,whereas KSOP1009 alleviated MPP+-induced cytotoxicity.KSOP1009(10 and 50 mg/m L)reduced MPP+-induced ROS generation compared with the control group.Treatment with 1 m M MPP+increased the percentage of depolarized/live cells,whereas KSOP1009 intake at a dose of 10 mg/m L decreased the percentage of these cells.The mean latency to fall in the rotarod test was reduced in mice treated with MPTP compared with the control group.However,mice receiving three different doses of KSOP1009 performed better than MPTP-treated animals.MPTP-treated mice were more hesitant and took longer to traverse the balance beam than the control animals.In contrast,KSOP1009-treated mice performed significantly better than MPTPtreated mice.Furthermore,the KSOP1009-treated groups had a significantly higher number of TH-positive neurons in the lesioned SN and significantly higher expression of TH in the striatum than the MPTP-treated group.MPTP treatment strongly induced Jun-N-terminal kinase(JNK)activation,whereas KSOP1009 suppressed MPTP-induced JNK activation.In addition,KSOP1009 intake reversed the decrease in the phosphorylation levels of c AMP-response element-binding protein in the brain of MPTP-treated mice.KSOP1009 also restored the decrease in dopaminergic neurons and dopamine levels in the brain of MPTP-treated mice.CONCLUSION:KSOP1009 protected mice against MPTP-induced toxicity by decreasing ROS formation and restoring mitochondrial function. | Liu Quanfeng Sang Heon Kim Yung-Wei Sung Sok Cheon Pak Wonwoong Lee Jongki Hong Jaehwan Jang Kyoung Sang Cho Songhee Jeon Byung-Soo Koo | 2019 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2019,39,6: | 3 |

| 13 | Predicting corn digestible and metabolizable energy content from its chemical composition in growing pigs显示文摘Background:The nutrient composition of corn is variable.To prevent unforeseen reductions in growth performance,grading and analytical methods are used to minimize nutrient variability between calculated and analyzed values.This experiment was carried out to define the sources of variation in the energy content of com and to develop a practical method to accurately estimate the digestible energy(DE) and metabolisable energy(ME)content of individual com samples for growing pigs.Twenty samples were taken from each of five provinces in China(Jilin,Hebei,Shandong,Liaoning,and Henan) to obtain a range of quality.Results:The DE and ME contents of the 100 corn samples were measured in 35.3 ± 1.92 kg growing pigs(six pigs per corn sample).Sixty corn samples were used to build the prediction model;the remaining forty samples were used to test the suitability of these models.The chemical composition of each corn sample was determined,and the results were used to establish prediction equations for DE or ME content from chemical characteristics.The mean DE and ME content of the 100 samples were 4,053 and 3,923 kcal/kg(dry matter basis),respectively.The physical characteristics were determined,as well,and the results indicated that the bulk weight and 1,000-kernel weight were not associated with energy content.The DE and ME values could be accurately predicted from chemical characteristics.The best fit equations were as follows:DE,kcal/kg of DM = 1062.68 +(49.72 x EE) +(0.54 x GE) +(9.11 x starch),with R^2 = 0.62,residual standard deviation(RSD) = 48 kcal/kg,and P< 0.01;ME,kcal/kg of dry matter basis(DM) = 671.54 +(0.89 x DE)-(5.57 x NDF)-(191.39 x ash),with R2 = 0.87,RSD = 18 kcal/kg,and P<0,01.Conclusion:This experiment confirms the large variation in the energy content of corn,describes the factors that influence this variation,and presents equations based on chemical measurements that may be used to predict the DE and ME content of individual corn samples. | Quanfeng Li Jianjun Zang Dewen Liu Xiangshu Piao Chanqhua Lai Defa Li | 2014 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2014,5,3: | 2 |
| 14 | Electrochemical hydrogen-storage capacity of graphene can achieve a carbon-hydrogen atomic ratio of 1:1显示文摘As a promising hydrogen-storage material,graphene is expected to have a theoretical capacity of 7.7 wt%,which means a carbon-hydrogen atomic ratio of 1:1.However,it has not been demonstrated yet by experiment,and the aim of the U.S.Department of Energy is to achieve 5.5 wt%in 2025.We designed a spatially-confined electrochemical system and found that the storage capacity of hydrogen adatoms on single layer graphene(SLG)is as high as 7.3 wt%,which indicates a carbon-hydrogen atomic ratio of 1:1 by considering the sp^(3) defects of SLG.First,SLG was deposited on a large-area polycrystalline platinum(Pt)foil by chemical vapor deposition(CVD);then,a micropipette with reference electrode,counter electrode and electrolyte solution inside was impacted on the SLG/Pt foil(the working electrode)to construct the spatially-confined electrochemical system.The SLG-uncovered Pt atoms act as the catalytic sites to convert protons(H^(+))to hydrogen adatoms(H_(ad)),which then spill over and are chemically adsorbed on SLG through surface diffusion during the cathodic scan.Because the electrode processes are reversible,the H_(ad) amount can be measured by the anodic stripping charge.This is the first experimental evidence for the theoretically expected hydrogen-storage capacity on graphene at ambient environment,especially by using H+rather than hydrogen gas(H_(2))as the hydrogen source,which is of significance for the practical utilization of hydrogen energy. | Quanfeng He Lanping Zeng Lianhuan Han Juan Peng Matthew M.Sartin Yuan-Zhi Tan Dongping Zhan Zhong-Qun Tian | 2022 | Science China Chemistry2022,65,2: | 2 |

| 16 | Functional identification of gene cluster for the aniline metabolic pathway mediated by transposable element显示文摘A convenient and widely applicable method has been developed to clone aniline metabolic gene cluster in this study. Three positive recombinant plasmids pDA1, pDB2 and pDB11 were cloned from genomic library of aniline degradation strain AD9. The result of aniline dioxygenase (AD) activity and catechol 2,3-oxygenase (C23O) activity assay showed that pDA1 and pDB11 contain aniline dioxy-genase genes and catechol 2,3-dioxygenase genes, respectively. The sequence analysis of the total 24.7-kb region revealed that this region contains 25 ORFs, of which 17 genes involve metabolism of aniline. In the gene cluster, the first five genes (tadQTA1A2B) and the subsequent gene (tadR1) were pre-dicted to encode a multi-component aniline dioxygenase and a LysR-type regulator, respectively, while the others (tadD1C1D2C2EFGIJKL) were expected to encode meta- cleavage pathway enzymes for catechol degradation.
