| 2 | Does Helicobacter pylori infection play a role in iron deficiency anemia? | 3 | Influence of Atmospheric Particulate Matter on Ozone in Nanjing,China:Observational Study and Mechanistic Analysis显示文摘Particulate matter with diameters of 2.5 μm or smaller(PM_(2.5)) and ozone(O_3) are major pollutants in the urban atmosphere. PM_(2.5) can affect O_3 by altering the photolysis rate and heterogeneous reactions. However, these two processes and their relative importance remain uncertain. In this paper, with Nanjing in China as the target city, we investigate the characteristics and mechanism of interactions between particles and O_3 based on ground observations and numerical modeling.In 2008, the average concentrations of PM_(2.5) and O_3 at Caochangmen station are 64.6 ± 47.4 μg m^(-3) and 24.6 ± 22.8 ppb,respectively, while at Pukou station they are 94.1 ± 63.4 μg m^(-3) and 16.9 ± 14.9 ppb. The correlation coefficient between PM_(2.5) and O_3 is -0.46. In order to understand the reaction between PM_(2.5) and O_3, we construct a box model, in which an aerosol optical property model, ultraviolet radiation model, gas phase chemistry model, and heterogeneous chemistry model,are coupled. The model is employed to investigate the relative contribution of the aforementioned two processes, which vary under different particle concentrations, scattering capability and VOCs/NOxratios(VOCs: volatile organic compounds;NOx: nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide). Generally, photolysis rate effect can cause a greater O_3 reduction when the particle concentrations are higher, while heterogeneous reactions dominate O_3 reduction with low-level particle concentrations.Moreover, in typical VOC-sensitive regions, O_3 can even be increased by heterogeneous reactions. In Nanjing, both processes lead to O_3 reduction, and photolysis rate effect is dominant. | 7 | Clinical analysis of intracranial germinoma's craniospinal irradiation using helical tomotherapy显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the short-term clinical outcomes of intracranial germinoma patients treated with craniospinal irradiation(CSI) using helical tomotherapy(HT) system in our center. Methods: Twenty-three patients who were treated with CSI in our center from January 2008 to July 2012 were collected, with an average age of 20. All of the patients' CSI used the HT system. The total doses were 27-36 Gy/15-20 F(1.5-2 Gy per fraction), and total local doses were 46-60 Gy/30-50 F(5 fractions per week). All female patients for CSI were treated with left-right parallel-opposed field irradiation to protect their ovarian functions. Median follow-up time was 30.9 months(range, 5-67 months). The SPSS19.0 software was used, and the overall survival(OS) was calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method.Results: Among 17 patients with assessable tumors, 9 cases(52.9%) were CR, 7 cases(41.2%) were PR, and 1 case(5.9%) was SD. Hematological toxicity was the severest side-effect occurred in the procedure of CSI. The level 1-4 acute leukopenia were 8.7%, 30.4%, 34.8% and 21.7% and the level 1-4 acute thrombopenia were 8.7%, 30.4%, 21.7% and 8.7%, respectively.Conclusions: For primary intracranial germinomas, HT can be used to implement CSI for simplifying radiotherapy procedures, improving radiotherapy accuracy, enhancing protection of peripheral organs at risk(ORA) and guaranteeing therapeutic effects. | 8 | Treatment of coking wastewater by a novel electric assisted micro-electrolysis filter显示文摘A newly designed electric assisted micro-electrolysis filter(E-ME) was developed to investigate its degradation efficiency for coking wastewater and correlated characteristics. The performance of the E-ME system was compared with separate electrolysis(SE) and micro-electrolysis(ME) systems. The results showed a prominent synergistic effect on COD removal in E-ME systems. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry(GC–MS) analysis confirmed that the applied electric field enhanced the degradation of phenolic compounds.Meanwhile, more biodegradable oxygen-bearing compounds were detected. SEM images of granular activated carbon(GAC) showed that inactivation and blocking were inhibited during the E-ME process. The effects of applied voltage and initial p H in E-ME systems were also studied. The best voltage value was 1 V, but synergistic effects existed even with lower applied voltage. E-ME systems exhibited some p H buffering capacity and attained the best efficiency in neutral media, which means that there is no need to adjust p H prior to or during the treatment process. | 9 | Effect of Compound Zhuye Shigao Granule(复方竹叶石膏颗粒)on Acute Radiation-Induced Esophagitis in Cancer Patients:A Randomized Controlled Trial显示文摘Objective: To observe the efficacy and safety of the Chinese medicine(CM) Compound Zhuye Shigao Granule(复方竹叶石膏颗粒, CZSG) on acute radiation-induced esophagitis(ARIE) in cancer patients. Methods: In a blinded, randomized, Kangfuxin Solution(康复新液, KFX)-controlled, single-centre clinical trial, 120 patients with lung, esophagus or mediastinal cancer were prospectively enrolled and assigned to the treatment group(60 cases) and control group(60 cases) by the random number table method. All patients received concurrent or sequential radiotherapy(2 Gy per day, 5 times per week, for 4 weeks) and were treated for 4 weeks since the radiation therapy. Patients in the treatment group were given 12 mg CZSG orally, thrice daily, while patients in the control group were given 10 m L KFX orally, thrice daily. The major indicators were observed, including the incidence and grade of esophagitis, time of occurrence and duration. Minor indicators were changes of CM symptoms, weight and Karnofsky Performance Status(KPS) Scale during 4 weeks from the beginning, recorded once a week. Blood routine examination and hepatorenal function were detected at the 2nd and 4th weeks. Results: The incidence and grade of ARIE were significantly decreased in the treatment group compared with the control group(P<0.05). CZSG appeared to significantly delay the time of ARIE occurrence and reduce the duration compared with KFX(P<0.05). The scores of CM symptoms, KPS and weight were improved significantly in the treatment group compared with the control group(P<0.05). There were no blood routine and hepatorenal function abnormal or obvious side-effects in both groups. Hemoglobin was improved and neutrophil and interleukin 6 were decreased in both groups after 4-week treatment compared with before treatment(P<0.05), and there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusions: CZSG can decrease the incidence and grade of ARIE, delay the time of occurrence, reduce duration and alleviate the damage of ARIE. The host shows excellent electron conductivity, sufficient ion transport channels and strong adsorption capability for the polysulfides, resulting from the abundant nitrogen-doped sites and pores as well as MnO in the carbon shell of MnO@PNC. | 15 | SIZ1-Mediated SUMOylation of TPR1 Suppresses Plant Immunity in Arabidopsis显示文摘Plant immune responses are tightly regulated to ensure their appropriate deployment. Overexpression of TOPLESS-RELATED 1 (TPR1), a SUPPRESSOR OF npr1-1, CONSTITUTIVE 1 (SNC1)-interacting protein, results in autoimmunity that reduces plant growth and development. However, how TPR1 activity is regulated remains unknown. Loss of function of SIZ1, a (SUMO) E3 ligase, induces an autoimmune response, partially due to elevated SNC1 levels. Here we show that SNC1 expression is upregulated in Arabidopsis thaliana siz1-2 due to positive-feedback regulation by salicylic acid. SIZ1 physically interacts with TPR1 and facilitates its SUMO modification. The K282 and K721 residues in TPR1 serve as critical SUMO attachment sites. Simultaneous introduction of K282R and K721R substitutions in TPR1 blocked its SUMOylation, enhaneed its transcriptional co-repressor activity, and increased its association with HISTONE DEACETYLASE 19 (HDA19), suggesting that SUMOylation of TPR1 represses its transcriptional co-repressor activity and inhibits its interaction with HDA19. In agreement with this finding, the simultaneous introduction of K282R and K721R substitutions enhanced TPR1 mediated immunity, and the tpr1 mutation partially suppressed autoimmunity in siz1-2. | 18 | RBD-Fc-based COVID-19 vaccine candidate induces highly potent SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibody response显示文摘The pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has posed serious threats to global health and economy,thus calling for the development of safe and effective vaccines.The receptorbinding domain(RBD)in the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 is responsible for its binding to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)receptor.It contains multiple dominant neutralizing epitopes and serves as an important antigen for the development of COVID-19 vaccines.Here,we showed that immunization of mice with a candidate subunit vaccine consisting of SARS-CoV-2 RBD and Fc fragment of human IgG,as an immunopotentiator,elicited high titer of RBD-specific antibodies with robust neutralizing activity against both pseudotyped and live SARS-CoV-2 infections.The mouse antisera could also effectively neutralize infection by pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 with several natural mutations in RBD and the IgG extracted from the mouse antisera could also show neutralization against pseudotyped SARS-CoV and SARS-related coronavirus(SARSr-CoV).Vaccination of human ACE2 transgenic mice with RBD-Fc could effectively protect mice from the SARS-CoV-2 challenge.These results suggest that SARS-CoV-2 RBD-Fc has good potential to be further developed as an effective and broad-spectrum vaccine to prevent infection of the current SARS-CoV-2 and its mutants,as well as future emerging SARSr-CoVs and re-emerging SARS-CoV. | Zezhong Liu Wei Xu Shuai Xia Chenjian Gu Xinling Wang Qian Wang Jie Zhou Yanling Wu Xia Cai Di Qu Tianlei Ying Youhua Xie Lu Lu Zhenghong Yuan Shibo Jiang | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 7 |
| 19 | Mechanical properties and expansion coefficient of Mo-Cu composites with different Ni contents显示文摘Mo-Cu composites were fabricated by powder metallurgy with addition of various Ni contents.The effect of Ni contents on mechanical and thermal properties of Mo-Cu composites was investigated.The results show that mechanical and thermal properties of Mo-Cu composites are greatly affected by the addition of Ni contents.The composite powders with Ni addition exhibits high sinterability.The sintering temperature is greatly decreased and the comprehensive properties of Mo-Cu composites are obviously improved.Mo-Cu composites with a content of 1.5 wt.% Ni have relative density 99.2%,bending strength 1057.9 MPa,hardness 72.5 HRA,electronic resistivity 1.28×10^(-7)Ω·m^(-1),thermal conductivity 139 W.m^(-1).K^(-1),and lower coefficient of thermal expansion 7.4×10^(-6)K^(-1).Mo-Cu composites have homogeneous and fine microstructure.The fracture mechanism is ductile fracture. | Guo, Shibo Kang, Qiping Cai, Chunbo Qu, Xuanhui | 2012 | Rare Metals2012,31,4: | 7 |
| 20 | A thermosensitive gel formulation of an empirical traditional Chinese prescription for treating cervical erosion显示文摘Cervical eropion,a pathological change associated with chronic cervicitis,is a common condition that is difficult to cure.M any pa tients particularly those with mild or medium infection and those preparing for pregnancy require a simple but effective medication.In this study,extracts of an empirical herbal prescription composed of six Chinese traditional drugs viz Cortex Phellodendri,Rhizoma Coptidis,Olibanum,Myrrha,borneol and catechu were formulated to facilitate intravaginal administration and improve efficacy.An extract of the first four components was formulated with borneol as a thermosensitive gel(TG)while an extract of catechu used to prepare a regular gel(CG)because of a chemical incompatibility.The optimized TG was prepared using poloxamer 407 and poloxamer 188.The CG was prepared using glycerin,carbopol and triethanolamine.The gels were characterized in vitro in terms of release of berberine(TG)and total catechins(CG)and in vivo in a rat model of cervical erosion.Trea tment by once daily application of the TG for 7 days followed by once daily application of the CG for 3 days produced a restoration of normal tissues.Gel formulation of the empirical Chinese traditional remedy appears to provide a promising treatment for cervical erosion. | Shuqing Zhou Xiaoling Zheng Caihong Zheng Fan Qu Xuefen Cai Juanhua Xu | 2012 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2012,2,5: | 6 |
