| 3 | Development of gated fiber detectors for laser-induced strong electromagnetic pulse environments显示文摘With the development of laser technologies,nuclear reactions can happen in high-temperature plasma environments induced by lasers and have attracted a lot of attention from different physical disciplines.However,studies on nuclear reactions in plasma are still limited by detecting technologies.This is mainly due to the fact that extremely high electromagnetic pulses(EMPs)can also be induced when high-intensity lasers hit targets to induce plasma,and then cause dysfunction of many types of traditional detectors.Therefore,new particle detecting technologies are highly needed.In this paper,we report a recently developed gated fiber detector which can be used in harsh EMP environments.In this prototype detector,scintillating photons are coupled by fiber and then transferred to a gated photomultiplier tube which is located far away from the EMP source and shielded well.With those measures,the EMPs can be avoided which may result that the device has the capability to identify a single event of nuclear reaction products generated in laser-induced plasma from noise EMP backgrounds.This new type of detector can be widely used as a time-of-flight(TOF)detector in high-intensity laser nuclear physics experiments for detecting neutrons,photons,and other charged particles. | Po Hu Zhi-Guo Ma Kai Zhao Guo-Qiang Zhang De-Qing Fang Bao-Ren Wei Chang-Bo Fu Yu-Gang Ma | 2021 | Nuclear Science and Techniques2021,32,6: | 6 |
| 4 | Gorham-Stout syndrome in China's Mainland:a case series of 67 patients and review of the literature显示文摘Objective:Gorham-Stout syndrome (GSS) is a rare disorder of uncertain etiology and unpredictable prognosis. This study aims to present a comprehensive understanding of this rare entity. Methods:A literature search in PubMed and three Chinese databases was performed to screen histologically proven GSS cases among Chinese residents in the mainland. We analyzed the patients' clinical characteristics, the value of different treatment modalities and their influence on the clinical outcome. Results:Sixty-seven cases were finally enrolled. There were 43 men (64.2%) and 24 women (35.8%). The mean age at diagnosis was 28 years (1.5-71 years). The most common clinical symptoms included pain (n=40, 59.7%), functional impairment (n=13, 19.4%), and swelling (n=12, 17.9%). The radiographic presentation of 37 cases (55.2%) was disappearance of a portion of the bone. The others presented as radiolucent foci in the intramedullary or subcortical regions. A total of 42 cases provided data on therapy, these included surgery (n=27, 40.3%), radiation therapy (n=6, 9.0%), surgery combined with radiation therapy (n=2, 3.0%), and medicine therapy (n=7, 10.4%). For 30 of these 42 cases, follow-up data were available:21 cases had the disorder locally controlled and 9 had a symptom progression. Fortunately, the disease is not fatal in the majority of cases. Conclusions:GSS has no specific symptoms and it should be taken into consideration when an unclear massive osteolysis occurs. | 6 | Photoelectrochemical degradation of Methylene Blue with β-PbO_2 electrodes driven by visible light irradiation显示文摘β-PbO2 electrodes were prepared by electro-deposition and characterized by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and linear sweep voltammetry.We confirmed pure β-PbO2 crystals were on the electrode and it had a high oxygen evolution potential.The photoactivity and photoelectrochemical(PEC) properties of the β-PbO2 electrode were investigated under visible light irradiation(λ > 420 nm) for the decolorization of Methylene Blue.Pseudo first-order kinetics parameter(Kapp) for dye decolorization using the β-PbO2 electrode achieved 6.71×10-4 min-1 under visible light irradiation,which indicated its excellent visible light-induced photoactivity.The Kapp of the PEC process was as much as 1.41×10-3 min-1 and was 1.71 times that of visible light irradiation or electrolysis even in the presence of the β-PbO2 electrode.A significant synergetic effect was observed in the PEC system.We also employed TiO2 modified β-PbO2 electrodes in this test,which revealed that the TiO2 immobilized on the β-PbO2 electrode inhibited the visible light-induced PEC efficiency despite the amount of TiO2 used for electrode preparation.The β-PbO2 electrode was also superior to the dimensionally stable anode(Ti/Ru0.3Ti0.7O2) in visible light-induced photoactivity and PEC efficiency. | Guoting Li HoYin Yip Kin Hang Wong Chun Hu Jiuhui Qu Po Keung Wong | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,6: | 4 |

| 8 | Establishment of a diagnostic model of coronary heart disease in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus based on machine learning algorithms显示文摘OBJECTIVE To establish a prediction model of coronary heart disease(CHD)in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus(DM)based on machine learning(ML)algorithms.METHODS Based on the Medical Big Data Research Centre of Chinese PLA General Hospital in Beijing,China,we identified a cohort of elderly inpatients(≥60 years),including 10,533 patients with DM complicated with CHD and 12,634 patients with DM without CHD,from January 2008 to December 2017.We collected demographic characteristics and clinical data.After selecting the important features,we established five ML models,including extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost),random forest(RF),decision tree(DT),adaptive boosting(Adaboost)and logistic regression(LR).We compared the receiver operating characteristic curves,area under the curve(AUC)and other relevant parameters of different models and determined the optimal classification model.The model was then applied to 7447 elderly patients with DM admitted from January 2018 to December 2019 to further validate the performance of the model.RESULTS Fifteen features were selected and included in the ML model.The classification precision in the test set of the XGBoost,RF,DT,Adaboost and LR models was 0.778,0.789,0.753,0.750 and 0.689,respectively;and the AUCs of the subjects were 0.851,0.845,0.823,0.833 and 0.731,respectively.Applying the XGBoost model with optimal performance to a newly recruited dataset for validation,the diagnostic sensitivity,specificity,precision,and AUC were 0.792,0.808,0.748 and 0.880,respectively.CONCLUSIONS The XGBoost model established in the present study had certain predictive value for elderly patients with DM complicated with CHD. | Hu XU Wen-Zhe CAO Yong-Yi BAI Jing DONG He-Bin CHE Po BAI Jian-Dong WANG Feng CAO Li FAN | 2022 | Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2022,19,6: | 3 |
| 9 | Fronts,baroclinic transport,and mesoscale variability of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current in the southeast Indian Ocean显示文摘Fronts,baroclinic transport,and mesoscale variability of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current(ACC) along 115°E are examined on the basis of CTD data from two hydrographic cruises occupied in 1995 as a part of the World Ocean Circulation Experiment(WOCE cruise I9S) and in 2004 as a part of CLIVAR/CO2 repeat hydrography program.The integrated baroclinic transport across I9S section is(97.2×106±2.2×106) m3/s relative to the deepest common level(DCL).The net transport at the north end of I9S,determined by the south Australian circulation system,is about 16.5×106m3/s westward.Relying on a consistent set of water mass criteria and transport maxima,the ACC baroclinic transport,(117×106 ±6.7×10 6)m3/s to the east,is carried along three fronts:the Subantarctic Front(SAF) at a mean latitude of 44°-49°S carries(50.6×10 6 ±13.4×106)m3/s;the Polar Front(PF),with the northern branch(PF-N) at 50.5°S and the southern branch(PFS) at 58°S,carries(51.3×106 ±8.7×106)m3/s;finally,the southern ACC front(SACCF) and the southern boundary of the ACC(SB) consist of three cores between 59°S and 65°S that combined carry(15.2×106 ±1.8×106)m3/s.Mesoscale eddy features are identifiable in the CTD sections and tracked in concurrent maps of altimetric sea level anomalies(SLA) between 44°-48°S and 53°-57°S.Because of the remarkable mesoscale eddy features within the SAF observed in both the tracks of the cruises,the eastward transport of the SAF occurs at two latitude bands separating by 1°.Both the CTD and the altimetric data suggest that the mesoscale variability is concentrated around the Antarctic Polar Frontal Zone(APFZ) and causes the ACC fronts to merge,diverge,and to fluctuate in intensity and position along their paths. | DUAN Yongliang HOU Yijun LIU Hongwei HU Po | 2012 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,6: | 2 |

Effective patent mining in massive patent databases not only provides business enterprises with valuable insights to develop strategies for research and development, intellectual property management, and product marketing, but also helps patent offices to improve efficiency and optimize their patent examination processes. This paper describes the patent mining problem of automatically discovering core patents (i.e., novel and influential patents in a domain). In addition, the value of core patent mining is illustrated by revealing the potential competitive relationships among companies in their core patents. The work addresses the unique patent vocabulary usage which is not considered in traditional word-based statistical methods with a topic-based temporal mining approach that quantifies a patent's novelty and influence through topic activeness variations. | 11 | LW-213,a newly synthesized flavonoid,induces G2/M phase arrest and apoptosis in chronic myeloid leukemia显示文摘Chronic myeloid leukemia(CML)is a clonal hematopoietic stem cell neoplasm characterized by an uncontrolled proliferation of moderately and well differentiated cells of the granulocytic lineage.LW-213,a newly synthesized flavonoid compound,was found to exert antitumor effects against breast cancer through inducing G2/M phase arrest.We investigated whether LW-213 exerted anti-CML effects and the underlying mechanisms.We showed that LW-213 inhibited the growth of human CML cell lines K562 and imatinid-resistant K562(K562r)in dose-and time-dependent manners with IC50 values at the lowμmol/L levels.LW-213(5,10,15μM)caused G2/M phase arrest of K562 and K562r cells via reducing the activity of G2/M phase transition-related proteins Cyclin B1/CDC2 complex.LW-213 treatment induced apoptosis of K562 and K562r cells via inhibiting the expression of CDK9 through lysosome degradation,thus leading to the suppression of RNAPII phosphorylation,down-regulation of a short-lived anti-apoptic protein MCL-1.The lysosome inhibitor,NH4Cl,could reverse the anti-CML effects of LW-213 including CDK9 degradation and apoptosis.LW-213 treatment also degraded the downstream proteins of BCR-ABL1,such as oncoproteins AKT,STAT3/5 in CML cells,which was blocked by NH4Cl.In primary CML cells and CD34+stem cells,LW-213 maintained its pro-apoptotic activity.In a K562 cells-bearing mice model,administration of LW-213(2.5,5.0 mg/kg,ip,every other day for 4 weeks)dose-dependently prolonged the survival duration,and significantly suppressed huCD45+cell infiltration and expression of MCL-1 in spleens.Taken together,our results demonstrate that LW-213 may be an efficient agent for CML treatment. | Xiao Liu Po Hu Hui Li Xiao-xuan Yu Xiang-yuan Wang Ying-jie Qing Zhan-yu Wang Hong-zheng Wang Meng-yuan Zhu Qing-long Guo Hui Hui | 2020 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,2: | 2 |
| 12 | Multi-walled carbon nanotubes based catalyst plasmon resonance light scattering analysis of tetracycline hydrochloride显示文摘It was found that multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) could catalyze the redox reaction between chlorauric acid (HAuCl4) and reductive drugs such as tetracycline hydrochloride (TC), producing gold nanoparticles (Au NPs). By measuring the plasmon resonance light scattering (PRLS) signals of the resulting Au NPs, tetracycline hydrochloride can be detected simply and rapidly with a linear range of 4―26 μmol/L, a correlated coefficient (r ) of 0.9955, and a limit of detection (3σ) of 6.0 nmol/L.
