| 1 | Confounding risk factors and preventative measures driving nephrolithiasis global makeup显示文摘Nephrolithiasis is increasing in developed and developing countries at an alarming rate. With the global spike in kidney stone diseases, it is crucial to determine what risk factors are influencing the current global landscape for kidney stones. Our aims for this review are: to identity and analyze the four categories of risk factors in contributing to the global scale of stone formation: lifestyle, genetics, diet, and environment; and discuss preventative measures for kidney stone formation. We also performed data search through the published scientific literature, i.e., PubMed~? and found that there is a significant link between lifestyle and obesity with cases of calcium stones. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and World Health Organization factor indicators for dietary intake and obesity, along with climate data were used to create the projected total risk world map model for nephrolithiasis risk. | 2 | Potential bioactive coating system for high-performance absorbable magnesium bone implants显示文摘Magnesium alloys are considered the most suitable absorbable metals for bone fracture fixation implants.The main challenge in absorbable magnesium alloys is their high corrosion/degradation rate that needs to be controlled.Various coatings have been applied to magnesium alloys to slow down their corrosion rates to match their corrosion rate to the regeneration rate of the bone fracture.In this review,a bioactive coating is proposed to slow down the corrosion rate of magnesium alloys and accelerate the bone fracture healing process.The main aim of the bioactive coatings is to enhance the direct attachment of living tissues and thereby facilitate osteoconduction.Hydroxyapatite,collagen type I,recombinant human bone morphogenetic proteins 2,simvastatin,zoledronate,and strontium are six bioactive agents that show high potential for developing a bioactive coating system for high-performance absorbable magnesium bone implants.In addition to coating,the substrate itself can be made bioactive by alloying magnesium with calcium,zinc,copper,and manganese that were found to promote bone regeneration. | Murni Nazira Sarian Nida Iqbal Pedram Sotoudehbagha Mehdi Razavi Qamar Uddin Ahmed Cortino Sukotjo Hendra Hermawan | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,6: | 2 |

| 9 | Low volume polyethylene glycol with ascorbic acid,sodium picosulfate-magnesium citrate,and clear liquid diet alone prior to small bowel capsule endoscopy显示文摘AIM:To compare low volume polyethylene glycol with ascorbic acid,sodium picosulfate-magnesium citrate and clear liquid diet alone as bowel preparation prior to small bowel capsule endoscopy(CE).METHODS:We retrospectively collected all CE studies done from December 2011 to July 2013 at a single institution.CE studies were reviewed only if low volume polyethylene glycol with ascorbic acid,sodium picosulfatemagnesium citrate or clear liquid diet alone used as the bowel preparation.The studies were then reviewed by the CE readers who were blinded to the preparation type.Cleanliness and bubble burden were graded independently within the proximal,middle and distal small bowel using a four-point scale according to the percentage of small bowel mucosa free of debris/bubbles:grade 1 = over 90%,grade 2 = between 90%-75%,grade 3 = between 50%-75%,grade 4 = less than 50%.Data are expressed as mean ± SEM.ANOVA and Fishers exact test were used where appropriate.P values < 0.05 were considered statistically significant.RESULTS:A of total of 123 CE studies were reviewed.Twenty-six studies were excluded from analysis because of incomplete small bowel examination.In the remainingstudies,48 patients took low volume polyethylene glycol with ascorbic acid,31 took sodium picosulfate-magnesium citrate and 27 took a clear liquid diet alone after lunch on the day before CE,followed by overnight fasting in all groups.There was no significant difference in small bowel cleanliness(1.98 ± 0.09 vs 1.84 ± 0.08 vs 1.76 ± 0.08) or small bowel transit time(213 ± 13 vs 248 ± 14 ± 225 ± 19 min) for clear liquid diet alone,Movi Prep and PicoSalax respectively.The bubble burden in the mid small bowel was significantly higher in the Movi Prep group(1.6 ± 0.1 vs 1.9 ± 0.1 vs 1.6 ± 0.1,P < 0.05).However this did not result in a significant difference in diagnosis of pathology.CONCLUSION:There was no significant difference in small bowel cleanliness or diagnostic yield of small bowel CE between the three preparations regimens used in this study. | Erin Rayner-Hartley Majid Alsahafi Paula Cramer Nazira Chatur Fergal Donnellan | 2016 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2016,8,11: | 1 |

| 11 | Corrosion in Mg-alloy biomedical implants-the strategies to reduce the impact of the corrosion inflammatory reaction and microbial activity显示文摘The most common complication of orthopedic surgery is implant failure, which can result in catastrophic injury and a significant financial burden for patients. Implant failure can be caused by a variety of factors, the most common of which are peri–implant infection(or implantrelated infection), excessive inflammatory response which caused pain and aseptic loosening. Orthopedic surgeons now have a variety of options for treating these issues, including revision surgery, which has demonstrated to be effective. If excessive inflammatory reaction caused by the corrosion and peri–implant infection can be avoided, it will be of enormous social benefits. This review will provide a summary of corrosion and the inflammation reactions due to the corrosion and antimicrobial properties of Mg alloy-based implants covering both in vitro and in vivo studies. | 13 | Frequency of C825T G protein β3 subunit gene polymorphism and its association with obesity in the Kyrgyz population显示文摘Objective:To examine the frequency of C825T G protein β3 subunit gene polymorphism and its association with obesity of ethnic Kyrgyz.Methods:The study enrolled 210 people,89 patients(35 females,54 males)with obesity(BMI≥30 kg/m2)and 121 practically healthy patients(38 females,83 males)with normal body weight and no signs of type 2 diabetes(group of control),who were not observed before by a cardiologist.The blood pressure,anthropometry,glucose and lipid profile were examined among all subjects.Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood cells.G proteinβ3 subunit C825T polymorphism was determined by polymerase chain reaction(PCR).Results:TT and CT genotypes carriers were grouped together in one group because the TT genotype was rare.CT+TT genotype frequency in the group with obesity made 0.72 and was significantly higher than that in the control group-0.52(χ2-8.44;P=0.004;odds ratio-2.55;95%CI 1.31-4.23).The statistical analysis revealed that hypertension(45%vs.31.3%,P=0.049)and obesity(51.2%vs.30%,P<0.01)occurred significantly more often in CT+TT genotype carriers than in the CC homozygotes.The results of the multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the presence of 825T allele(exp β-2.89;95%CI 1.25-6.7;P=0.013),along with the occasional consumption of vegetables(exp β-3.47;95%CI 1.52-7.94;P=0.003)was the significant risk factor for obesity,regardless of gender,age and level of physical activity.In the construction of the similar regression model for hypertension,the statistically significant role of 825T allele was lost after adjustment for obesity as an independent variable.Conclusion:G protein β3 subunit gene C825T allele in the Kyrgyz ethnic group has an association with obesity. | MIRRAKHIMOV ERKIN LUNEGOVA OLGA MIRRAKHIMOV AIBEK KERIMKULOVA ALINA STAROV NURDIN ZALESSKAYA YULIYA ABILOVA SAAMAI NABIEV MALIK ALIBAEVA NAZIRA ALDASHEV ALMAZ | 2013 | Family Medicine and Community Health2013,1,1: | 0 |
