Clinical features of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease-associated hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), especially nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, is a recognized risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, detailed analysis of the clinical features in patients with NAFLD and their association with HCC is lacking. This study aimed to update the clinical features of patients with NAFLD-associated HCC. DATA SOURCES: The clinical data of patients with NAFLD- associated HCC from 25 studies published between 1990 and 2010 in the Pubmed database were comprehensively reviewed. RESULTS: In a total of 169 patients with NAFLD-associated HCC, 72.8% were male. The median age at abnormal liver function tests and diagnosis of NAFLD and HCC was 60, 64 and 67 years, respectively. Most patients were obese (75%) and diabetic (59.8%), 32.3% had dyslipidemia, and 53% had hypertension. Nearly all patients (98.6%, 71/72) were complicated with at least one metabolic disorder. The majority (76%) of the HCC patients had a solitary tumor nodule, with the tumor size ranging from 0.8 to 20 cm in diameter (mean 3.4 cm). Most (61.1%) of the patients had moderately-differentiated HCC. In 40.2% of the patients, HCC occurred in the absence of cirrhosis. Among 130 patients, 57.7% underwent hepatectomy and 14.6% received liver transplantation. The mean follow-up of the treated patients for 25 months showed that 32.4% (24/74) died and 18.8% (9/48) had recurrence. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with NAFLD-associated HCC are usually accompanied with metabolic disorders. Regular surveillance in patients with NAFLD for HCC is necessary, especially for elderly men with metabolic syndrome.Xiao-Yan Duan, Liang Qiao and Jian-Gao Fan Department of Gastroenterology, Xinhua Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Shanghai 200092, China Storr Liver Unit at the Westmead Millennium Institute, the University of Sydney at Westmead Hospital, Westmead, NSW 2145, Australia 2012Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2012,11,1:16
Explicit classes of permutation polynomials of F_3^(3m)显示文摘Permutation polynomials have been an interesting subject of study for a long time and have applications in many areas of mathematics and engineering. However, only a small number of specific classes of permutation polynomials are known so far. In this paper, six classes of linearized permutation polynomials and six classes of nonlinearized permutation polynomials over F33m are presented. These polynomials have simple shapes, and they are related to planar functions.DING CunSheng1, XIANG Qing2, YUAN Jin3 & YUAN PingZhi4 1 Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Clearwater Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong, China 2 Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Delaware, Newark, DE 19716, USA 3 Department of Computing, Macquarie University, NSW 2109, Australia 4 School of Mathematics, South China Normal University, Guangzhou 510631, China 2009Science China Mathematics2009,52,4:8
A THIRD-ORDER BOUSSINESQ MODEL APPLIED TO NONLINEAR EVOLUTION OF SHALLOW-WATER WAVES显示文摘The conventional Boussinesq model is extended to the third order in dispersion and nonlinearity. The new equations are shown to possess better linear dispersion characteristics. For the evolution of periodic waves over a constant depth, the computed wave envelops are spatially aperiodic and skew. The model is then applied to the study of wave focusing by a topographical lens and the results are compared with Whalin′s (1971) experimental data as well as some previous results from the conventional Boussinesq model. Encouragingly, improved agreement with Whalin′s experimental data is found. [WT5”HZ]Zhang Ying long CCM MINDEF, Department of Mech. and Prod. 4Analytical Methods for Environmental Risk Assessment of Acid Sulfate Soils: A Review显示文摘Assessment of acid sulfate soil risk is an important step for acid sulfate soil management and its reliability depends very much on the suitability and accuracy of various analytical methods for estimating sulfide-derived potential acidity, actual acidity and acid-neutralizing capacity in acid sulfate soils. This paper critically reviews various analytical methods that are currently used for determination of the above parameters, as well as their implications for environmental risk assessment of acid sulfate soi1s.C. 5Characteristics of Some Heavy Metals in Acid Sulfate Topsoils, Eastern Australia显示文摘Forty-five acid sulfate topsoil samples (depth < 0.5 m) from 15 soil cores at 11 locations along the New South Wales coast, Australia, were selected to investigate the chemical behavior of Zn, Mn, Cr, Co and Pb in these soils. The amount of HCI-extractable Mn was much smaller than the mean value of the total Mn documented for other soils. This may be attributed to enhanced mobilization of Mn from the soils under the extremely acidic and seasonally flooded conditions encountered in the investigated soils. The pH-dependency of soluble Zn and Mn was strongly affected by the availability of acid reactive Zn and Mn compounds. There were fairly good relationships between soluble Zn and acid reactive Zn compounds, and between soluble Mn and acid reactive Mn compounds. Soluble Zn and soluble Mn concentrations were important controls on exchangeable Zn and Mn concentrations, respectively. In contrast to the suggestion by other authors that adsorption of Co was closely associated with Mn oxides present in soils, the exchangeable Co in the investigated acid sulfate soils was not clearly related to the abundance of Mn minerals. In addition to the fact that there are few Mn minerals present in the soils, this might also be because the availability of canon exchange sites on the crystal surfaces of Mn oxides was reduced under extremely acidic conditions.C. 6Could Acid Sulfate Soils Be a Potential Environmental Threat to Estuarine Ecosystems on the South China Coast?显示文摘Acid sulfate soils (ASS) contain considerable amounts of reduced sulfur compounds (mainly pyrite) which produce sulfuric acid upon their oxidation. ASS-derived environmental degradation widely occurs in the coastal lowlands around the world, especially in the tropical and subtropical areas. The presence of ASS in the South China has been recognized but their distribution may be largely underestimated because the soil survey data concerning ASS are based on unreliable methods and techniques. ASS in the South China have been traditionally used for rice cultivation and this practice has been proved sustainable if appropriate improvement measures are adopted. Recently, the rapid economic growth in the region has resulted in intensified coastal development which frequently involves activities that may disturb ASS. Construction of roads, foundations and aquaculture ponds may cause the exposure of ASS to air and bring about severe environmental acidification. There is currently insufficient awareness of the problems among the researchers, policy-makers and land managers in the South China. More atteation must be paid to the possible ASSderived environmental degradation in order to ensure a sustainable development of the coastal lowlands in the South China region.C. 7Characteristics of Phosphorus in Some Eastern Australian Acid Sulfate Soils显示文摘Forty-five acid sulfate topsoil samples (depth < 0.5 m) from 15 soil cores were collected from 11 locations along the New South Wales coast, Australia. There was an overall trend for the concentration of the HC1extractable P to increase along with increasing amounts of organic C and the HCl-extractable trivalent metals in the topsoils of some less-disturbed acid sulfate soils (pH <4.5). This suggests that inorganic P in these soils probably accumulated via biological cycling and was retained by complexation with trivalent metals or their oxides and hydroxides. While there was no clear correlation between pH and the water-extractable P, the concentration of the water-extractable P tended to increase with increasing amounts of the HCl-extractable P. This disagrees with some established models which suggest that the concentration of solution P in acid soils is independent of total P and decreases with increasing acidity. The high concentration of sulfate present in acid sulfate soils appeared to affect the chemical behavior of P in these soil systems. Comparison was made between a less disturbed wetland acid sulfate soil and a more intensively disturbed sugarcane acid sulfate soil. The results show that reclamation of wetland acid sulfate soils for sugarcane production caused a significant decrease in the HCl-extractable P in the topsoil layer as a result of the reduced bio-cycling of phosphorus following sugarcane farming. Simulation experiment shows that addition of hydrated lime had no effects on the immobilization of retained P in an acid sulfate soil sample within a pH range 3.5~4.6. When the pH was raised to above 4.6, soluble P in the soil extracts had a tendency to increase with increasing pH until the 15th extraction (pH 5.13). This, in combination with the poor pH-soluble P relationship observed from the less-disturbed acid sulfate soils, suggests that soluble P was not clearly pH-dependent in acid sulfate soils with pH < 4.5.C. 8The influence of impurity on the critical thickness of the CeO_2 buffer layer for coated conductors显示文摘The lattice parameters, band structure, density of state and elastic constant of RE-doped CeO2 (RE=Sm, Gd, Dy), the buffer material for coated HTS conductors, are calculated using the plane-wave method with pseudopotentials based on the density functional theory (DFT) of first-principle. The rule and mechanism of the effect of rare earth impurity on the critical thickness of the CeO2 buffer layer are investigated. It is found that, in the range of the calculation, the changes of the lattice volume V and elastic constant E of CeO2 with the impurity are mainly determined by the increased electrons ne of the system. The relationship of the elastic constant E and increased electrons ne is established. It is indicated that the critical thickness of the CeO2 single buffer layer doped with Sm, Gd, and Dy may be enhanced by 22%, 43% and 33%, respectively.PAN Min1, HUANG Zheng2, MA HuanFeng2, QIANG WeiRong2, WEI LianFu1, WANG Long2 & ZHAO Yong1,3 1 Key Laboratory of Magnetic Levitation Technologies and Maglev Trains (Ministry of Education of China), Superconductivity R&D Center (SRDC), Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu 610031, China 2 School of Physical Science and Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu 610031, China 3 Superconductivity Research Group, School of Materials Science and Engineering, University of New South Wale, Sydney, 2052 NSW, Australia 2009Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2009,52,7:3
Review on abort trajectory for manned lunar landing mission显示文摘Abort trajectory is a passage that ensures the astronauts to return safely to the earth when an emergency occurs. Firstly, the essential elements of mission abort are analyzed entirely based on summarizing the existing studies. Then, abort trajectory requirement and rational selection for different flight phases of typical manned lunar mission are discussed specifically. Considering a trade-off between the two primary constrains of an abort, the return time of flight and energy requirement,a general optimizing method for mission abort is proposed. Finally, some suggestions are given for China’s future manned lunar landing mission.XI XiaoNing1, HUANG WenDe2 & WANG Wei2,3 1 College of Mechatronics Engineering and Automation, National University of Defense Technology, Changsha 410073, China 2 College of Aerospace and Material Engineering, National University of Defense Technology, Changsha 410073, China 3 School of Surveying and Spatial Information System, University of New South Wales, Sydney, NSW 2052, Australia 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,10:3
Characteristic analysis and design of near moon abort trajectory for manned lunar landing mission显示文摘The safety of astronauts would be severely threatened if the lunar-landing spacecraft were under an emergency during the near moon phase of flight, which was far from the Earth. For the problem of mission abort caused by the main engine (service propulsion system, SPS) failure during lunar orbit insertion, firstly, the family of trajectories resulted from SPS premature shutdown and corresponding abort trajectories were analyzed; then an algorithm that can be applied to the near moon abort trajectories was proposed using patched-conic technique. The characteristics of the abort trajectory, such as energy consumption and return time of flight, were analyzed and presented. Finally, simulation examples were given to demonstrate various cases of near moon SPS failure. The results of the simulation have validated the approach proposed.HUANG WenDe1*, XI XiaoNing2 & WANG Wei1,3 1 College of Mechatronics Engineering and Automation, National University of Defense Technology, Changsha 410073, China 2 College of Aerospace and Material Engineering, National University of Defense Technology, Changsha 410073, China 3 School of Surveying and Spatial Information System, University of New South Wales, Sydney, NSW 2052, Australia 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,11:3

Iron Monosulfide Distribution in Three Coastal Floodplain Acid Sulfate Soils, Eastern Australia显示文摘The distribution of iron monosulfide (quantified as acid volatile sulfur: SAV) was compared with geo- chemical properties that are known to affect its formation and accumulation in three coastal Holocene acid sulfate soils (ASS) at Tuckean Swamp, McLeods Creek and Bungawalbyn Swamp respectively. These properties included PH, reactive iron (FeR), pore-water sulfate (SO:42-) and organic carbon (OC). Iron monosulfide was concentrated at the oxic/anoxic boundary. The Tuckean Swamp and McLeods Creek sites are Holocene sediments, whereas the Bungawalbyn Swamp is a Holocene peat. The concentration of SAV averaged 0.2 g kg-l in a 0.5 m thick soil layer at the Tuckean Swamp, but was an order of magnitude lower in the oxic/anoxic transition layers at McLeods Creek and Bungawalbyn Swamp. The SAV mineral greigite (Fe3S4) was identified in the Tuckean Swamp by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy with quantitative energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDX). Very small concentrations of greigite were also observed in the McLeods Creek, based on crystal morphology and elemental composition. The concentration of SAV was a small fraction of the total reduced sulfur, representing at most 3% of the Pyrite sulfur. However, the presence of this highly reactive sulfide mineral, distributed within pores where oxygen diffusion is most rapid, has important implications to the potential rate of acid production from these sediments.R. 13Thermal , Microstructural and Mechanical Coupling Analysis Model for Flatness Change Prediction During Run-Out Table Cooling in Hot Strip Rolling显示文摘Non-uniformity of temperature distribution across strip width direction is the ultimate reason why the flatness defect occurs on the strip after cooling process although the strip is flat at the exit of finishing mill. One thermal , microstructural and mechanical coupling analysis model for predicting flatness change of steel strip during the run-out table cooling process was established using ABAQUS finite element software.K Esaka phase transformation kinetics model was employed to calculate the phase transformation , and coupled with temperature calculation using the user subroutine program HETVAL.Elasto-plasticity constitutive equations of steel material , in which conventional elastic and plastic strains , thermal strain , phase transformation strain and transformation induced plastic strain were considered , were derived and programmed in the user subroutine program UMAT.The conclusion that flatness of steel strip will develop to edge wave defect under the functions of the differential thermal and microstructural behaviors across strip width during the run-out table cooling procedure was acquired through the analysis results of this model.Calculation results of this analysis model agree well with the actual measurements and observation.WANG Xiao-dong 1 , 2 , LI Fei 1 , JIANG Zheng-yi 2 ( 1.Shougang Research Institute of Technology , Shougang Group , Beijing 100043 , China 2.Faculty of Engineering , University of Wollongong , Wollongong NSW 2522 , Australia ) 2012Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2012,19,9:2
Spin-glass like behaviors in La_(1-x)Tb_xMnO_3 perovskite显示文摘A series of samples of La1-xTbxMnO3 (0≤x≤0.15) are prepared. The static and dynamic magnetizations of La1-xTbxMnO3 have been investigated. The results indicate that the spins with the short-range order are frozen into random direction at low enough temperatures which leads to the samples exhibiting the spin-glass like behavior. It is considered that the spin-glass like behavior originates from the competition between ferromagnetic double exchange among Mn3+ and Mn2+ and antiferromagnetic superex-change among Mn3+ and Mn3+,as well as Tb3+ and Tb3+.ZHANG YingTang1,2,3,WANG ChunChang2,4,LIU WeiBin1,WANG Zhong3,LU HuiBin2 & CHEN ZiYu1 1 Department of Physics,Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics,Beijing 100191 2 Institute of Physics & Center for Condensed Matter Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100190 3 School of Material Science & Engineering,Shaanxi University of Technology,Hanzhong 723003 4 Institute of Superconducting and Electronic Materials,Wollongong University,Northfield Ave,Gwynneville,NSW 2522,Australia 2009Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2009,52,12:2
