2Modern experience of low-coal seams underground mining in Ukraine显示文摘Coal is the main energy resource in Ukraine. However geotechnological aspects of coal seams development and Ukrainian crisis have a negative influence on the mining industry. This article analyzes the experience in the development of very low and low-coal seams with 0.7–1.0 m thickness, as well as advanced technological solutions that allowed private coal enterprises, despite the difficult situation in the country, to maintain sufficient(more than 75% of all production) level of steam coal extraction for Ukrainian society. 3G-Quadruplex(G4) Motifs in the Maize(Zea mays L.) Genome Are Enriched at Specific Locations in Thousands of Genes Coupled to Energy Status,Hypoxia,Low Sugar,and Nutrient Deprivation显示文摘The G-quadruplex(G4) elements comprise a class of nucleic acid structures formed by stacking of guanine base quartets in a quadruple helix.This G4 DNA can form within or across single-stranded DNA molecules and is mutually exclusive with duplex B-form DNA.The reversibility and structural diversity of G4 s make them highly versatile genetic structures,as demonstrated by their roles in various functions including telomere metabolism,genome maintenance,immunoglobulin gene diversification,transcription,and translation.Sequence motifs capable of forming G4 DNA are typically located in telomere repeat DNA and other non-telomeric genomic loci.To investigate their potential roles in a large-genome model plant species,we computationally identified 149,988 non-telomeric G4 motifs in maize(Zea mays L.,B73 AGPv2),29%of which were in non-repetitive genomic regions.G4 motif hotspots exhibited non-random enrichment in genes at two locations on the antisense strand,one in the 5'UTR and the other at the 5'end of the first intron.Several genic G4 motifs were shown to adopt sequence-specific and potassium-dependent G4 DNA structures in vitro.The G4 motifs were prevalent in key regulatory genes associated with hypoxia(group VII ERFs),oxidative stress(DJ-1/GATase1),and energy status(AMPK/SnRK) pathways.They also showed statistical enrichment for genes in metabolic pathways that function in glycolysis,sugar degradation,inositol metabolism,and base excision repair.Collectively,the maize G4 motifs may represent conditional regulatory elements that can aid in energy status gene responses.Such a network of elements could provide a mechanistic basis for linking energy status signals to gene regulation in maize,a model genetic system and major world crop species for feed,food,and fuel.Carson M.Andorf Mykhailo Kopylov Drena Dobbs Karen E.Koch M.Elizabeth Stroupe Carolyn J.Lawrence Hank W.Bass 2014Journal of Genetics and Genomics2014,41,12:2
4基于心磁信号的电流密度分析方法研究显示文摘电流密度向量分析是心磁图仪临床应用中的关键诊断技术,其重构与分类效果将直接影响心脏疾病筛查的准确度。研究一种电流密度分析方法,包括电流密度重构逆向算法,并提出一种电流密度自动分类新算法。将该电流密度分析方法应用于27例健康志愿者和75例心肌缺血患者的临床验证:首先,使用四通道心磁图仪SQUID传感器采集36个测量点位心磁信号源数据,采用标准Ⅱ导联心电数据同步化心磁信号源数据;其次,应用基于傅里叶变换的逆向求解算法,重构每例受试者电流密度分布,自动计算3项电流密度分类参数CDI、IPCD、ERT,并通过多元线性回归模型确定自动分类算法中健康组和心肌缺血组的线性判别函数;最后,借助基于KL熵值计算和线性判别函数的自动分类新算法,对重构后的电流密度进行自动分类。结果表明:健康组与心肌缺血组间3项分类参数CDI、IPCD、ERT显著性差异分别为2.0×10^-11、2.7×10^-5和3.0×10^-4;CDI、IPCD、ERT诊断心肌缺血的敏感性分别为73%、81%和60%,特异性分别为100%、65%和73%;自动分类结果的敏感性、真阳性率、特异性、假阳性率和真阴性率分别为89.33%、100%、100%、0%和76.47%。实验说明,所述电流密度分析方法可靠、准确度高,可用于临床心肌缺血诊断。艾海明 Primin Mykhailo 米旺 吴红金 2020中国生物医学工程学报2020,39,2:2
5Machine learning property prediction for organic photovoltaic devices显示文摘Organic photovoltaic(OPV)materials are promising candidates for cheap,printable solar cells.However,there are a very large number of potential donors and acceptors,making selection of the best materials difficult.Here,we show that machine-learning approaches can leverage computationally expensive DFT calculations to estimate important OPV materials properties quickly and accurately.We generate quantitative relationships between simple and interpretable chemical signature and one-hot descriptors and OPV power conversion efficiency(PCE),open circuit potential(Voc),short circuit density(Jsc),highest occupied molecular orbital(HOMO)energy,lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO)energy,and the HOMO–LUMO gap.The most robust and predictive models could predict PCE(computed by DFT)with a standard error of±0.5 for percentage PCE for both the training and test set.This model is useful for pre-screening potential donor and acceptor materials for OPV applications,accelerating design of these devices for green energy applications.Nastaran Meftahi Mykhailo Klymenko Andrew J.Christofferson Udo Bach David A.Winkler Salvy P.Russo 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:2

9On the road to standardization of D2 lymph node dissection in a European population of patients with gastric cancer显示文摘The amount of lymph node dissection(LD) required during surgical treatment of gastric cancer surgery has been quite controversial.In the 1970 s and 1980 s,Japanese surgeons developed a doctrine of aggressive preventive gastric cancer surgery that was based on extended(D2) LD volumes.The West has relatively lower incidence rates of gastric cancer,and in Europe and the United States the most common LD volume was D0-1.This eventually caused a scientific conflict between the Eastern and Western schools of surgical thought.:Japanese surgeons determinedly used D2 LD in surgical practice,whereas European surgeons insisted on repetitive clinical trials in the European patient population.Today,however,one can observe the results of this complex evolution of views.The D2 LD is regarded as an unambiguous standard of gastric cancer surgical treatment in specialized European centers.Such a consensus of the Eastern and Western surgical schools became possible due to the longstanding scientific and practical search for methods that would help improve the results of gastric cancer surgeries using evidence-based medicine.Today,we can claim that D2 LD could improve the prognosis in European populations of patients with gastric cancer,but only when the surgical quality of LD execution is adequate.Roman Yarema Giovanni de Manzoni Taras Fetsych Myron Ohorchak Mykhailo Pliatsko Maria Bencivenga 2016World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2016,8,6:1

11Extreme biomimetic approach for developing novel chitin-GeO2 nanocomposites with photoluminescent properties显示文摘This work presents an extreme biomimetics route for the creation of nano- structured biocomposites utilizing a chitinous template of poriferan origin. The specific thermal stability of the nanostructured chitinous template allowed for the formation under hydrothermal conditions of a novel germanium oxide- chitin composite with a defined nanoscale structure. Using a variety of analytical techniques (FTIR, Raman, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS), and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, EDS-mapping, selected area for the electron diffraction pattern (SAEDP), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM)), we showed that this bioorganic scaffold induces the growth of GeO2 nanocrystals with a narrow (150-300 nm) size distri- bution and predominantly hexagonal phase, demonstrating the chitin template's control over the crystal morphology. The formed GeO2-chitin composite showed several specific physical properties, such as a striking enhancement in photo- luminescence exceeding values previously reported in GeOR-based biomaterials. 12Analytic solutions of the normal modes and light transmission of a cholesteric liquid crystal cell显示文摘Cholesteric liquid crystals,consisting of chiral molecules,form self-assembled periodic structures exhibiting a photonic bandgap.Their selective reflectivity makes them well suited for a variety of applications;their optical response is therefore of considerable interest.The reflectance and transmittance of finite cholesteric cells is usually calculated numerically.Evanescent modes in the bandgap make the calculations challenging;existing matrix propagation methods cannot describe the reflection and transmission coefficients of thick cholesteric cells accurately.Here we present analytic solutions for the electromagnetic fields in cholesteric cells of finite thickness,and use them to calculate the transmission and reflection spectra.The use of analytic solutions allows for the accurate description of arbitrarily thick cholesteric cells,which would not be possible with only direct numerical methods.Sabrina Relaix Mykhailo Pevnyi Wenyi Cao Peter Palffy-Muhoray 2013Photonics Research2013,1,1:0
