4Structural damage assessment criteria for reinforced concrete buildings by using a Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy process显示文摘Reinforced concrete structures are often exposed to many types of damages and deteriorations due to different causes and exposure conditions during their life cycle.Assessment of such structures is inherently subjected to uncertainty and ambiguity,where subjective opinion and incomplete numeric data are unavoidable.In the damage assessment process,estimating the importance of assessment criteria is an important field in itself,and depends heavily on the experience and expertise of experts.The aim of this study is to present a fuzzy-based assessment model,which estimates the importance of structural assessment criteria for concrete buildings.The work aims also at studying,identifying,and prioritizing assessment criteria.These assessment criteria are based on close visual inspections and simple measurements that do not require special testing or long-term investigation.The main assessment criteria include the state of building history,environmental conditions,structural capacity,durability,and professional involvement in construction.Each of them has two levels of sub-criteria.The criteria weights are obtained based on the opinions of experts using the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process(FAHP)method.The application of the FAHP method showed that the most important criteria is the structural capacity with a weighting factor of 50.1%,followed by the environmental condition as second,with a weighting factor of 22.5%.Khader M.Hamdia Mohammed Arafa Mamoun Alqedra 2018Underground Space2018,3,3:2
5Multi-center evaluation of oxidation-reduction potential by the MiOXSYS in males with abnormal semen显示文摘According to the World Health Organization(WHO),oxidative stress(OS)is a significant contributor to male infertility.SeminalOS can be measured by a number of assays,all of which are either costly or time sensitive and/or require large semen volume andcomplex instrumentation.One less expensive alternative is to quantify the oxidation-reduction potential(ORP)with the MiOXSYS.In this international multi-center study,we assessed whether ORP levels measured by the MiOXSYS could distinguish semensamples that fall within the 2010 WHO normal reference values from those that do not.Semen samples were collected from 2092patients in 9 countries;ORP was normalized to sperm concentration(mV/10^6 sperm/ml).Only those samples with a concentration>1×10^6 sperm ml1 were in eluded.The results showed that 199 samples fell within the WHO no rmal refere nee range while theremaining 1893 samples did not meet one or more of the criteria.ORP was negatively correlated with all semen parameters(P <0.01)except volume.The area under the curve for ORP was 0.765.The ORP cut-off value(1.34 mV/10^6 sperm/ml)was able todifferentiate specimens with abnormal semen parameters with 98.1%sensitivity,40.6%specificity,94.7%positive predictivevalue(PPV)and 66.6%negative predictive value(NPV).When used as an adjunct to traditional semen analysis,ORP levels mayhelp identify altered functional status of spermatozoa caused by OS in cases of idiopathic male infertility and in male partners ofcouples sufferi ng recurre nt pregna ncy loss,and thereby directi ng these men to relevant medical therapies and lifestyle modificati ons.Ashok Agarwal Manesh Kumar Panner Selvam Mohamed Arafa Hiroshi Okada Sheryl Homa Aideen Killeen Basak Balaban Ramadan Saleh Abdullah Armagan Shubhadeep Roychoudhury Suresh Sikka 2019Asian Journal of Andrology2019,21,6:2

9Correlation of oxidation reduction potential and total motile sperm count:its utility in the evaluation of male fertility potential显示文摘Oxidative stress(OS)is detri me ntal to sperm fun ctio ns,and the oxidation reductio n pote ntial(ORP)is a good measure of OS as it considers the balance betwee n oxidants and reducta nts.Total motile sperm count(TMSC)is viewed as the single most im porta nt semen analysis parameter that can predict male infertility severity,and its correlation with ORP has never been undertaken.The objectives of this study were to assess the correlation between ORP and TMSC,to identify the ORP cutoff value based on the TMSC result,and to compare this cutoff value with previously reported ORP cutoff values in literature.One thousand one hundred and sixty-eight infertile patients and 100 fertile controls were enrolled.Demographic and semen data of the participants were retrieved and analyzed.Wilcox on's rank-sum test compared variables betwee n infertile men and fertile controls;Spearman's correlation assessed the static ORP(sORP)-TMSC relationship for the whole sample and among each group individually.Using a 20×10^6TMSC threshold,receiver operator characteristic(ROC)analysis determined the sORP cutoff associated with the highest predictive values.TMSC was significantly negatively correlated with sORP across all participants(r=0.86,P<0.001),among infertile patients(r=0.729,P<0.001),and among fertile controls(r=0.53,P<0.001).A 20-million TMSC threshold determined an sORP cutoff value of 2.34 mV/106sperm/ml to be associated with 82.9%sensitivity,82.8%specificity,91.5%positive predictive value(PPV),68.5%negative predictive value(NPV),and 82.9%overall accuracy.Compared with previously reported cutoff values in searched literature,the 2.34 mV/10^6sperm/ml cutoff value identified in our study yielded the highest overall diagnostic accuracy in the evaluation of in fertile men.Ahmad Majzoub Mohamed Arafa Walid El Ansari Mohammed Mahdi Ashok Agarwal Sami Al-Said Haitham Elbardisi 2020Asian Journal of Andrology2020,22,3:0
10Effect of nutrition-related infodemics and social media on maternal experience: A nationwide survey in a low/middle income country显示文摘BACKGROUND Undernutrition is a crucial cause of morbidity and mortality among children in low-or middle-income countries(LMICs).A better understanding of maternal general healthy nutrition knowledge,as well as misbeliefs,is highly essential,especially in such settings.In the current era of infodemics,it is very strenuous for mothers to select not only the right source for maternal nutrition information but the correct information as well.AIM To assess maternal healthy nutritional knowledge and nutrition-related misbeliefs and misinformation in an LMIC,and to determine the sources of such information and their assessment methods.METHODS This cross-sectional analytical observational study enrolled 5148 randomly selected Egyptian mothers who had one or more children less than 15 years old.The data were collected through online questionnaire forms:One was for the general nutrition knowledge assessment,and the other was for the nutritional myth score.Sources of information and ways of evaluating internet sources using the Currency,Relevance,Authority,Accuracy,and Purpose test were additionally analyzed.RESULTS The mean general nutrition knowledge score was 29±9,with a percent score of 70.8%±12.1%(total score:41).The median myth score was 9(interquartile range:6,12;total score:18).The primary sources of nutrition knowledge for the enrolled mothers were social media platforms(55%).Half of the mothers managed information for currency and authority,except for considering the author's contact information.More than 60%regularly checked information for accuracy and purpose.The mothers with significant nutrition knowledge checked periodically for the author's contact information(P=0.012).The nutrition myth score was significantly lower among mothers who periodically checked the evidence of the information(P=0.016).Mothers dependent on their healthcare providers as the primary source of their general nutritional knowledge were less likely to hold myths by 13%(P=0.044).However,using social media increased the likelihood of having myths among mothers by approximately 1.2(P=0.001).CONCLUSION Social media platforms were found to be the primary source of maternal nutrition information in the current era of infodemics.However,healthcare providers were the only source for decreasing the incidence of maternal myths among the surveyed mothers.Marwa M Zein Noha Arafa Mortada H F El-Shabrawi Nehal Mohammed El-Koofy 2024World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics2024,13,1:0
