2Leaf chlorophyll and nitrogen dynamics and their relationship to lowland rice yield for site-specific paddy management显示文摘The optimum rate and application timing of Nitrogen(N)fertilizer are crucial in achieving a high yield in rice cultivation;however,conventional laboratory testing of plant nutrients is time-consuming and expensive.To develop a site-specific spatial variable rate application method to overcome the limitations of traditional techniques,especially in fields under a double-cropping system,this study focused on the relationship between Soil Plant Analysis Development(SPAD)chlorophyll meter readings and N content in leaves during different growth stages to introduce the most suitable stage for assessment of crop N and prediction of rice yield.The SPAD readings and leaf N content were measured on the uppermost fully expanded leaf at panicle formation and booting stages.Grain yield was also measured at the end of the season.The analysis of variance,variogram,and kriging were calculated to determine the variability of attributes and their relationship,and finally,variability maps were created.Significant linear relationships were observed between attributes,with the same trends in different sampling dates;however,accuracy of semivariance estimation reduces with the growth stage.Results of the study also implied that there was a better relationship between rice leaf N content(R^2=0.93),as well as yield(R2=0.81),with SPAD readings at the panicle formation stage.Therefore,the SPAD-based evaluation of N status and prediction of rice yield is more reliable on this stage rather than at the booting stage.This study proved that the application of SPAD chlorophyll meter paves the way for real-time paddy N management and grain yield estimation.It can be reliably exploited in precision agriculture of paddy fields under double-cropping cultivation to understand and control spatial variations.Asa Gholizadeh Mohammadmehdi Saberioon Lubos Boruvka Aimrun Wayayok Mohd Amin Mohd Soom 2017Information Processing in Agriculture2017,4,4:3

6Fabrication and densification enhancement of SiC-particulate-reinforced copper matrix composites prepared via the sinter-forging process显示文摘The fabrication of copper(Cu) and copper matrix silicon carbide(Cu/SiCp) particulate composites via the sinter-forging process was investigated. Sintering and sinter-forging processes were performed under an inert Ar atmosphere. The influence of sinter-forging time, temperature, and compressive stress on the relative density and hardness of the prepared samples was systematically investigated and subsequently compared with that of the samples prepared by the conventional sintering process. The relative density and hardness of the composites were enhanced when they were prepared by the sinter-forging process. 9Quantification and depth distribution analysis of carbon to nitrogen ratio in forest soils using reflectance spectroscopy显示文摘Forest soils have large contents of carbon(C)and total nitrogen(TN),which have significant spatial variability laterally across landscapes and vertically with depth due to decomposition,erosion and leaching.Therefore,the ratio of C to TN contents(C∶N),a crucial indicator of soil quality and health,is also different depending on soil horizon.These attributes can cost-effectively and rapidly be estimated using visible-near infrared-shortwave infrared(VNIR-SWIR)spectroscopy.Nevertheless,the effect of different soil layers,particularly over large scales of highly heterogeneous forest soils,on the perfor-mance of the technique has rarely been attempted.This study evaluated the potential of VNIR-SWIR spectroscopy in quantification and variability analysis of C∶N in soils from different organic and min-eral layers of forested sites of the Czech Republic.At each site,we collected samples from the litter(L),fragmented(F)and humus(H)organic layers,and from the A_(1)(depth of 2-10 cm)and A_(2)(depth of 10-40 cm)mineral layers providing a total of 2505 samples.Support vector machine regression(SVMR)was used to train the prediction models of the selected attributes at each individual soil layer and the merged layer(profile).We further produced the spatial distribution maps of C∶N as the target attribute at each soil layer.Results showed that the prediction accuracy based on the profile spectral data was adequate for all attributes.Moreover,F was the most accurately predicted layer,regardless of the soil attribute.C∶N models and maps in the organic layers performed well although in mineral layers,models were poor and maps were reliable only in areas with low and moderate C∶N.On the other hand,the study indicated that reflectance spectra could efficiently predict and map organic layers of the forested sites.Although,in mineral layers,high values of C∶N(≥50)were not detectable in the map created based on the reflectance spectra.In general,the study suggests that VNIR-SWIR spectroscopy has the feasibility of modelling and mapping C∶N in soil organic horizons based on national spectral data in the forests of the Czech Republic.Asa Gholizadeh Mohammadmehdi Saberioon Nastaran Pouladi Eyal Ben-Dor 2023International Soil and Water Conservation Research2023,11,1:0
10Phenomenological model for torsional galloping of an elastic flat plate due to hydrodynamic loads显示文摘This study investigates the torsional galloping phenomenon,an instability type flow-induced oscillation,in an elastic structure due to hydrodynamic loads into the water current.The structure applied here is a rectangular flat plate with an elastic axis in its mid-chord length.The elasticity is provided by torsion spring.The flat plate has only one degree of freedom which is rotation in pure yaw about its axis.It is observed that as the current speed is higher than a critical velocity,the flat plate becomes unstable.The instability leads to torsional galloping occurrence,as a result of which the flat plate begins to yaw about the elastic axis.By testing two different chord lengths each with several torsion spring rates,the flat plate behavior is investigated and three different responses are recognized.Then,a phenomenological model is developed with the original kernel in the form of the van der Pol-Duffing equation.The model explains these three responses observed experimentally.FERNANDES Antonio Carlos ARMANDEI Mohammadmehdi 2014Journal of Hydrodynamics2014,26,1:0
