A model to assess fundamental and realized carrying capacities of island ecosystem:A case study in the southern Miaodao Archipelago of China显示文摘Research on carrying capacity, aiming at maintaining the limited ability of the Earth's life supporting system to sustain human development, requires a comprehensive and ecosystem-based approach to monitor and assess the localized sustainability of coupled social and ecological systems. A definition termed the ecosystem-based carrying capacity of island(EBCCI) was developed in this paper of which the indices of fundamental and realized carrying capacities of island(FCCI and RCCI) were highlighted to emphasize the inter-dependencies between social systems and ecological systems. In order to avoid the difficulties and uncertainties of direct assessment, the related assessment model was established on the basis of synthetic evaluation of inherent and external factors affecting the EBCCI. The southern Miaodao Archipelago(SMA) located in the intersection of the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, China, was taken as a typical example to acquire integrated recognition of the island ecosystem and its carrying capacity so as to discuss its sustainable development. The index scores of FCCI and RCCI in the SMA were 0.818 5 and 0.712 9 out of 1.0, respectively, with acceptable uncertainties. The results showed a relatively well capacity to sustain progress and relatively well realization of the carrying capacity of island ecosystem, owing to a well capacity of ecologically regulating, general performance of both ecologically supporting and resource provisioning, and a relatively high level of social supporting system. The study implied that it was critical to optimize the inter-dependencies and to sustain the relative balance between social systems and ecological systems so as to improve the RCCI and further facilitate the sustainability of SMA. The approach proposed in this paper provides a powerful tool which is well applicative to the regional level of an oceanic island or archipelago to study the sustainable development and can be further popularized to the coastal zone. | SHI Honghua SHEN Chengcheng ZHENG Wei LI Fen WANG Xiaoli CHI Yuan GUO Zhen QIAO Mingyang GAO Liyuan DING Dewen | 2016 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2016,35,2: | 4

Identification of African swine fever virus MGF505-2R as a potent inhibitor of innate immunity in vitro显示文摘African swine fever(ASF)is etiologically an acute, highly contagious and hemorrhagic disease caused by African swine fever virus(ASFV).Due to its genetic variation and phenotypic diversity, until now,no efficient commercial vaccines or therapeutic options are available. The ASFV genome contains a conserved middle region and two flexible ends that code for five multigene families(MGFs),while the biological functions of the MGFs are not fully characterized. Here,ASFV MGF505-2R-deficient mutant ASFV-Δ2R was constructed based on a highly virulent genotype II field isolate ASFV CN/GS/2018 currently circulating in China.Transcriptomic profiling demonstrated that ASFV-Δ2R was capable of inducing a larger number of differentially expressed genes(DEGs)compared with ASFV CN/GS/2018.Hierarchical clustering of up-regulated DEGs revealed that ASFV-Δ2R induced the most dramatic expression of interferon-related genes and inflammatory and innate immune genes,as further validated by RT-qPCR.The GO and KEGG pathway analysis identified significantly enriched pathways involved in pathogen recognition and innate antiviral immunity.Conversely, pharmacological activation of those antiviral immune responses by exogenous cytokines, including type I/II IFNs,TNF-αand IL-1β,exerted combinatory effects and synergized in antiviral capacity against ASFV replication.Collectively,MGF505-2R is a newly identified inhibitor of innate immunity potentially implicated in immune evasion. | Huaguo Huang Wen Dang Zhengwang Shi Mingyang Ding Fan Xu Tao Li Tao Feng Haixue Zheng Shuqi Xiao | 2023 | Virologica Sinica2023,38,1: | 0
Anomalous-plasmoid-ejection-induced secondary magnetic reconnection: modeling solar flares and coronal mass ejections by laser–plasma experiments显示文摘The driving mechanism of solar flares and coronal mass ejections is a topic of ongoing debate, apart from the consensus that magnetic reconnection plays a key role during the impulsive process. While present solar research mostly depends on observations and theoretical models, laboratory experiments based on high-energy density facilities provide the third method for quantitatively comparing astrophysical observations and models with data achieved in experimental settings. In this article, we show laboratory modeling of solar flares and coronal mass ejections by constructing the magnetic reconnection system with two mutually approaching laser-produced plasmas circumfused of self-generated megagauss magnetic fields. Due to the Euler similarity between the laboratory and solar plasma systems, the present experiments demonstrate the morphological reproduction of flares and coronal mass ejections in solar observations in a scaled sense, and confirm the theory and model predictions about the current-sheet-born anomalous plasmoid as the initial stage of coronal mass ejections, and the behavior of moving-away plasmoid stretching the primary reconnected field lines into a secondary current sheet conjoined with two bright ridges identified as solar flares. | Quanli Dong Dawei Yuan Shoujun Wang Xun Liu Yutong Li Xiaoxuan Lin Huigang Wei Jiayong Zhong Shaoen Jiang Yongkun Ding Bobin Jiang Kai Du Yongjian Tang Mingyang Yu Xiantu He Neng Hua Zhanfeng Qiao Kuixi Huang Ming Chen Jianqiang Zhu Gang Zhao Zhengming Sheng Jie Zhang | 2013 | High Power Laser Science and Engineering2013,1,1: | 0
Efficient Heterogeneous Hydroformylation over Zeolite-Encaged Isolated Rhodium Ions显示文摘Alkene hydroformylation is an extremely important industry process currently accomplished via homogeneous catalysis.Heterogeneous hydroformylation is being avidly pursued as a more economical and sustainable process.Herein,we report the construction of zeolite-encaged rhodium catalyst for efficient hydroformylation.Through a facile in situ hydrothermal strategy, isolated Rh^(δ+)(δ=2.5)can be encaged in faujasite and efficiently stabilized via interaction with framework oxygen atoms, producing a Rh@Y model catalyst with well-defined rhodium sites and coordination environment.Rh@Y exhibits high catalytic activity, perfect chemoselectivity, and recyclability in 1-hexene hydroformylation under mild reaction conditions, making it a robust heterogeneous catalyst for potential applications.A state-of-the-art turnover frequency value of 6567 molC=C/molRh/h for Rh@Y can be achieved in 1-hexene hydroformylation at 393 K,outperforming all heterogeneous catalysts and most homogeneous catalysts under comparable conditions. With the well-defined structure of Rh@Y,the detailed mechanism of alkene hydroformylation can be interpreted via theoretical calculations, and the advantages of heterogeneous hydroformylation are well explained. This work provides a promising solution toward efficient heterogeneous noble metal catalysis by encaging stable isolated ions in a zeolite matrix. | Weixiang Shang Bin Qin Mingyang Gao Xuetao Qin Yuchao Chai Guangjun Wu Naijia Guan Ding Ma Landong Li | 2023 | CCS Chemistry2023,5,7: | 0
Explosion resistance performance of reinforced concrete box girder coated with polyurea:Model test and numerical simulation显示文摘To study the anti-explosion protection effect of polyurea coating on reinforced concrete box girder, two segmental girder specimens were made at a scale of 1:3,numbered as G(without polyurea coating)and PCG(with polyurea coating). The failure characteristics and dynamic responses of the specimens were compared through conducting explosion tests. The reliability of the numerical simulation using LS-DYNA software was verified by the test results. The effects of different scaled distances, reinforcement ratios, concrete strengths, coating thicknesses and ranges of polyurea were studied. The results show that the polyurea coating can effectively enhance the anti-explosion performance of the girder. The top plate of middle chamber in specimen G forms an elliptical penetrating hole, while that in specimen PCG only shows a very slight local dent. The peak vertical displacement and residual displacement of PCG decrease by 74.8% and 73.7%,respectively,compared with those of specimen G.For the TNT explosion with small equivalent, the polyurea coating has a more significant protective effect on reducing the size of fracture. With the increase of TNT equivalent, the protective effect of polyurea on reducing girder displacement becomes more significant. The optimal reinforcement ratio, concrete strength, thickness and range of polyurea coating were also drawn. | Guangpan Zhou Rong Wang Mingyang Wang Jianguo Ding Yuye Zhang | 2024 | Defence Technology(防务技术)2024,33,3: | 0
A Predictive Nomogram for Predicting Improved Clinical Outcome Probability in Patients with COVID-19 in Zhejiang Province,China显示文摘The aim of this research was to develop a quantitative method for clinicians to predict the probability of improved prognosis in patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Data on 104 patients admitted to hospital with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infection from 10 January 2020 to 26 February 2020 were collected.Clinical information and laboratory findings were collected and compared between the outcomes of improved patients and non-improved patients. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)logistics regression model and two-way stepwise strategy in the multivariate logistics regression model were used to select prognostic factors for predicting clinical outcomes in COVID-19 patients. The concordance index(C-index)was used to assess the discrimination of the model, and internal validation was performed through bootstrap resampling.A novel predictive nomogram was constructed by incorporating these features.Of the 104 patients included in the study(median age 55 years),75(72.1%)had improved short-term outcomes, while 29(27.9%)showed no signs of improvement. There were numerous differences in clinical characteristics and laboratory findings between patients with improved outcomes and patients without improved outcomes. After a multi-step screening process, prognostic factors were selected and incorporated into the nomogram construction, including immunoglobulin A(IgA),C-reactive protein(CRP),creatine kinase(CK),acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II(APACHE II),and interaction between CK and APACHE II.The C-index of our model was 0.962(95%confidence interval(CI),0.931-0.993)and still reached a high value of 0.948 through bootstrapping validation.A predictive nomogram we further established showed close performance compared with the ideal model on the calibration plot and was clinically practical according to the decision curve and clinical impact curve. The nomogram we constructed is useful for clinicians to predict improved clinical outcome probability for each COVID-19 patient, which may facilitate personalized counselling and treatment. | Jiaojiao Xie Ding Shi Mingyang Bao Xiaoyi Hu Wenrui Wu Jifang Sheng Kaijin Xu Qing Wang Jingjing Wu Kaicen Wang Daiqiong Fang Yating Li Lanjuan Li | 2022 | Engineering2022,8,1: | 0
The application of the strip-shaped cymba conchae orthosis in the nonsurgical correction of complex auricular deformity显示文摘Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of using a strip-shaped cymba conchae orthosis for the nonsurgical correction of complex auricular deformities. Methods: Clinical data were collected from 2020 to 2021 for 6 patients who underwent correction using a stripshaped cymba conchae orthosis. The indications, corrective effects, and complications associated with use of the orthosis were analyzed. Results: There were four indications for treatment: cryptotia with helix adhesion;cryptotia with grade I microtia;cryptotia with excessive helix thickness;and auricular deformity beyond the treatment time window(≥6 months). Excellent corrective effects were observed in all 6 patients. Complications occurred in one patient, who recovered after symptomatic treatment. Conclusion: The use of a strip-shaped cymba conchae orthosis alone or combined with a U-shaped helix orthosis presents a feasible approach for correcting complex auricular deformities or deformities beyond the treatment time window in pediatric patients. | Huijuan Xu Shaoguang Ding Fei Zhang Zhifeng Zhang Xiangyu Chen Mingyang Li Haitao Yang Fugen Han Hongjian Liu | 2024 | Journal of Otology2024,19,1: | 0
