1The benefits of neuroinflammation for the repair of the injured central nervous system显示文摘Inflammation of the nervous system(neuroinflammation)is now recognized as a hallmark of virtually all neurological disorders.In neuroinflammatory conditions such as multiple sclerosis,there is prominent infiltration and a long-lasting representation of various leukocyte subsets in the central nervous system(CNS)parenchyma.Even in classic neurodegenerative disorders,where such immense inflammatory infiltrates are absent,there is still evidence of activated CNS-intrinsic microglia.The consequences of excessive and uncontrolled neuroinflammation are injury and death to neural elements,which manifest as a heterogeneous set of neurological symptoms.However,it is now readily acknowledged,due to instructive studies from the peripheral nervous system and a large body of CNS literature,that aspects of the neuroinflammatory response can be beneficial for CNS outcomes.The recognized benefits of inflammation to the CNS include the preservation of CNS constituents(neuroprotection),the proliferation and maturation of various neural precursor populations,axonal regeneration,and the reformation of myelin on denuded axons.Herein,we highlight the benefits of neuroinflammation in fostering CNS recovery after neural injury using examples from multiple sclerosis,traumatic spinal cord injury,stroke,and Alzheimer’s disease.We focus on CNS regenerative responses,such as neurogenesis,axonal regeneration,and remyelination,and discuss the mechanisms by which neuroinflammation is pro-regenerative for the CNS.Finally,we highlight treatment strategies that harness the benefits of neuroinflammation for CNS regenerative responses.Heather Y.F.Yong Khalil S.Rawji Samira Ghorbani Mengzhou Xue V.Wee Yong 2019Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,6:7
2Alteration of heat shock protein 20 expression in preeclampticpatients and its effect in vascular and coagulation function显示文摘Preeclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy-specific, multi-system disorder and the leading cause of maternal andperinatal morbidity and mortality in obstetrics worldwide. Excessive vasoconstriction and dysregulatedcoagulation function are closely associated with PE. Heat shock protein 20 (HSP20) is ubiquitously expressedunder normal physiological conditions and has important roles in vascular dilatation and suppression of plateletaggregation. However, the role of HSP20 in the pathogenesis of PE remains unclear. In this study, we collectedchorionic plate resistance arteries (CPAs) and serum from 118 healthy pregnant women and 80 women with PEand detected the levels of HSP20 and its phosphorylated form. Both HSP20 and phosphorylated HSP20 weredownregulated in CPAs from women with PE. Comparison of the vasodilative ability of CPAs from the two groupsshowed impaired relaxation responses to acetyl choline in preeclamptic vessels. In addition to the reduced HSP20in serum from women with PE, the platelet distribution width and mean platelet volume were also decreased, andthe activated partial thromboplastin time and thromboplastin time were elevated. 5Considerable impacts of litter inputs on soil nematode community composition in a young Acacia crassicapa plantation显示文摘Aboveground litter inputs and root exudates provide basal resources for soil communities,however,their relative contributions to soil food web are still not well understood.Here,we conducted a field manipulative experiment to differentiate the effects of litter inputs and living root on nematode community composition of surface and subsoils in a young Acacia crassicapa plantation in southern China.Our results showed that both litter addition and root presence significantly enhanced soil nematode abundance by 17.3%and 35.3%,respectively.Litter addition altered nematode trophic group composition,decreased fungivore to bacterivore ratio,and enhanced maturity index and structure index,which led to a bacterial-based energy channel and a more complex food web structure.However,root presence had a limited impact on the nematode community composition and ecological indices.Despite nematodes surface assembly,soil depth did not affect nematode trophic group composition or ecological index.Our findings highlight the importance of litter inputs in shaping soil nematode community structure and regulating soil energy channel.CANCAN ZHAO YIN LI CHENLU ZHANG Yuan Miao Mengzhou Liu Wanlin Zhuang Yuanhu Shao Weixin Zhang Shenglei Fu 2021Soil Ecology Letters2021,3,2:2

7Effects of warming on soil respiration during the non-growing seasons in a semiarid temperate steppe显示文摘尽管许多研究认为增温对陆地生态系统非生长季土壤呼吸的影响非常重要,但是关于这一问题仍缺乏充分的理解。本论文研究了非生长季增温对温带半干旱草原土壤呼吸的影响,并探讨了其影响机制。本实验位于温带半干旱典型草原,包括10对样地,每对样地包括一个对照和模拟增温处理。模拟增温样地自2014年10月开始,采用开顶箱(OTC)进行。2014年10月到2015年4月,2015年10月到2016年4月期间每月测定几次土壤呼吸、土壤温度与土壤湿度;并测定0-20 cm微生物量碳(MBC)、微生物量氮(MBN)和土壤速效氮。采用重复测量方差和成对t检验方法分析增温、时间及其交互作用对土壤呼吸的影响。采用简单回归确定各指标之间的因果关系。结果表明,对照样地非生长季平均土壤呼吸速率为0.24μmol m^(-2) s^(-1),约占当地生长季碳通量的14.4%。模拟增温在两个非生长季使土壤温度和土壤呼吸分别比对照样地提高了1.48℃(P<0.001)和42.1%(P<0.01)。2015-2016年非生长季模拟增温降低了0.66%的土壤湿度,降低幅度不显著。模拟增温处理下2015-2016年非生长季MBC和MBN分别显著提高了19.72%和20.99%(P<0.05)。此外,研究结果还表明,土壤温度、MBC和MBN的变化调控了土壤呼吸对模拟增温的响应。本结果揭示非生长季土壤呼吸变化能影响碳循环的其它组分,并可以有效促进气候变化背景下陆地生态系统碳循环的模型预测。Yuan Miao Mengzhou Liu Juan Xuan Wei Xu Shilin Wang Renhui Miao Dong Wang Wei Wu Yinzhan Liu Shijie Han 2020Journal of Plant Ecology2020,13,3:2
8Giant Valley Coherence at Room Temperature in 3R WS_(2) with Broken Inversion Symmetry显示文摘Breaking the space-time symmetries in materials can markedly influence their electronic and optical properties.In 3R-stacked transition metal dichalcogenides,the explicitly broken inversion symmetry enables valley-contrasting Berry curvature and quantization of electronic angular momentum,providing an unprecedented platform for valleytronics.Here,we study the valley coherence of 3R WS_(2) large single-crystal with thicknesses ranging from monolayer to octalayer at room temperature.Our measurements demonstrate that both A and B excitons possess robust and thickness-independent valley coherence.The valley coherence of direct A(B)excitons can reach 0.742(0.653)with excitation conditions on resonance with it.Such giant and thickness-independent valley coherence of large single-crystal 3R WS_(2) at room temperature would provide a firm foundation for quantum manipulation of the valley degree of freedom and practical application of valleytronics.Luojun Du Jian Tang Jing Liang Mengzhou Liao Zhiyan Jia Qinghua Zhang Yanchong Zhao Rong Yang Dongxia Shi Lin Gu Jianyong Xiang Kaihui Liu Zhipei Sun Guangyu Zhang 2019Research2019,,1:2

12La-doped NiFe-LDH coupled with hierarchical vertically aligned MXene frameworks for efficient overall water splitting显示文摘The development of stable electrocatalysts with high hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER) activity in alkaline electrolytes is critical to renewable energy conversion technologies,such as electrochemical water splitting.In this work,a novel strategy for engineering water splitting electrocatalysts in alkaline electrolyte was developed by synergistically coupling La-doped Ni Fe-layered double hydroxides (Ni Fe-LDH) nanosheets onto three-dimensional (3D) vertically aligned MXene nanosheets on macroporous nickel foam (NF) substrates (Ni Fe La-LDH/v-MXene/NF).The electrocatalytic performance of the prepared Ni Fe La-LDH/v-MXene/NF is enhanced by the synergy of strong electronic interaction among multiple metal centers and unique vertically aligned porous MXene with increased active surface area,accelerated reaction kinetics and improved water adsorption and dissociation ability.To reach the commercially required current density (500 m A cm^(-2)),the Ni Fe La-LDH/v-MXene/NF exhibits greatly reduced overpotentials of 233 and 255 m V for HER and OER,respectively,along with excellent durability.Moreover,an alkaline electrolyzer driven by Ni Fe La-LDH/v-MXene/NF delivers a lower cell voltage(1.71 V) compared with that of Pt/C-RuO_(2) couple to achieve the current density of 500 m A cm^(-2).Mengzhou Yu Jiqi Zheng Ming Guo 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,7:1

16Synergistic Effect and Electrochromic Mechanism of Nanoflake Li-doped NiO in LiOH Electrolyte显示文摘Inorganic metal oxide electrochromic materials have good application prospects for energy-saving windows in buildings and smart display applications.Therefore,the development of electrochromic films with good cycling stabilities,fast color-change response times,and high coloring efficiencies has attracted considerable attention.In this study,nanoflake Li-doped NiO electrochromic films were prepared using a hydrothermal method,and the films exhibited superior electrochromic performances in the LiOH electrolyte.Li^(+)ions doping increased the ion transmission rates of the NiO films,and effectively promoted the transportation of ions from the electrolyte into NiO films.Meanwhile,the nanoflake microstructure caused the NiO films to have larger specific surface areas,providing more active sites for electrochemical reactions.It was determined that the NiO-Li20%film exhibited an ultra-fast response in the LiOH electrolyte(coloring and bleaching times reached 3 and 1.5 s,respectively).Additionally,the coloration efficiency was 62.1 cm^(2)C^(−1),and good cycling stability was maintained beyond 1500 cycles.Finally,the simulation calculation results showed that Li doping weakened the adsorption strengths of the NiO films to OH^(−),which reduced the generation and decomposition of NiOOH and helped to improve the cycling stabilities of the films.Therefore,the research presented in this article provides a strategy for designing electrochromic materials in the future.Kejun Xu Liuying Wang Gu Liu Chaoqun Ge Long Wang Weichao Wang Mengzhou Chen 2023Energy & Environmental Materials2023,6,3:1
