A nomogramfor predicting overall survival in patients with low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma: A population-based analysis显示文摘Background:Low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma(LG-ESS)is a rare tumor that lacks a prognostic prediction model. Our study aimed to develop a nomogram to predict overall survival of LG-ESS patients. Methods:A total of 1172 patients confirmed to have LG-ESS between 1988 and 2015 were selected from the Surveillance,Epidemiology and End Results(SEER)database. They were further divided into a training cohort and a validation cohort. The Akaike information criterion was used to select variables for the nomogram. The discrimination and calibration of the nomogram were evaluated using concordance index(C-index),area under time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve(time-dependent AUC),and calibration plots. The net benefits of the nomogram at different threshold probabilities were quantified and compared with those of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics(FIGO)criteria-based tumor staging using decision curve analysis(DCA).Net reclassification index(NRI)and integrated discrimination improvement(IDI)were also used to compare the nomogram’s clinical utilitywith that of the FIGO criteria-based tumor staging. The risk stratifications of the nomogram and the FIGO criteria-based tumor staging were compared. Results:Seven variables were selected to establish the nomogram for LG-ESS.The C-index(0.814 for the training cohort and 0.837 for the validation cohort)and the time-dependent AUC(>0.7)indicated satisfactory discriminative ability of the nomogram. The calibration plots showed favorable consistency between the prediction of the nomogram and actual observations in both the training and validation cohorts. The NRI values(training cohort:0.271 for 5-year and 0.433 for 10-year OS prediction;validation cohort:0.310 for 5-year and 0.383 for 10-year OS prediction)and IDI(training cohort:0.146 for 5-year and 0.185 for 10-year OS prediction;validation cohort:0.177 for 5-year and 0.191 for 10-year OS prediction)indicated that the established nomogram performed significantly better than the FIGO criteria-based tumor staging alone(P<0.05).Furthermore,DCA showed that the nomogram was clinically useful and had better discriminative ability to recognize patients at high risk than the FIGO criteria-based tumor staging. Conclusions:A prognostic nomogram was developed and validated to assist clinicians in evaluating prognosis of LG-ESS patients. | Jie Wu Huibo Zhang Lan Li Mengxue Hu Liang Chen Bin Xu Qibin Song | 2020 | Cancer Communications2020,40,7: | 35
Global characterization and monitoring of forest cover using Landsat data: opportunities and challenges显示文摘The compilation of global Landsat data-sets and the ever-lowering costs of computing now make it feasible to monitor the Earth’s land cover at Landsat resolutions of 30 m.In this article,we describe the methods to create global products of forest cover and cover change at Landsat resolutions.Nevertheless, there are many challenges in ensuring the creation of high-quality products. And we propose various ways in which the challenges can be overcome.Among the challenges are the need for atmospheric correction, incorrect calibration coefficients in some of the data-sets,the different phenologies between compila-tions,the need for terrain correction, the lack of consistent reference data for training and accuracy assessment, and the need for highly automated character-ization and change detection. We propose and evaluate the creation and use of surface reflectance products, improved selection of scenes to reduce phenological differences, terrain illumination correction, automated training selection, and the use of information extraction procedures robust to errors in training data along with several other issues. At several stages we use Moderate Resolution Spectro-radiometer data and products to assist our analysis.A global working prototype product of forest cover and forest cover change is included. | John R.Townshend Jeffrey G.Masek Chengquan Huang Eric.F.Vermote Feng Gao Saurabh Channan Joseph O.Sexton Min Feng Raghuram Narasimhan Dohyung Kim Kuan Song Danxia Song Xiao-Peng Song Praveen Noojipady Bin Tan Matthew C.Hansen Mengxue Li Robert E.Wolfe | 2012 | International Journal of Digital Earth2012,5,5: | 10
Risk analysis for the highly pathogenic avian influenza in China's Mainland using meta-modeling显示文摘A logistic model was employed to correlate the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) with related environmental factors and the migration of birds. Based on MODIS data of the normalized difference vegetation index, environmental factors were considered in generating a probability map with the aid of logistic regression. A Bayesian maximum entropy model was employed to explore the spatial and temporal correlations of HPAI incidence. The results show that proximity to water bodies and national highways was statistically relevant to the occurrence of HPAI. Migratory birds, mainly waterfowl, were important infection sources in HPAI transmission. In addition, the HPAI outbreaks had high spatiotemporal autocorrelation. This epidemic spatial range fluctuated 45 km owing to different distribution patterns of cities and water bodies. Furthermore, two outbreaks were likely to occur with a period of 22 d. The potential risk of occurrence of HPAI in China's Mainland for the period from January 23 to February 17, 2004 was simulated based on these findings, providing a useful meta-model framework for the application of environmental factors in the prediction of HPAI risk. | CAO ChunXiang XU Min CHANG ChaoYi XUE Yong ZHONG ShaoBo FANG LiQun CAO WuChun ZHANG Hao GAO MengXu HE QiSheng ZHAO Jian CHEN Wei ZHENG Sheng LI XiaoWen | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,36: | 9
Platinum-polyaniline-modified carbon fiber electrode for the electrooxidation of methanol显示文摘Platinum was electrodeposited onto a polyaniline-modified carbon fiber electrode by the cyclic voltammetric method in sulfuric acid, which may enable an increase in the level of platinum u tilization currently achieved in electrocatalyric systems. This electrode preparation consists of a two-step procedure: first electropolymerization of aniline onto carbon fiber and then electrodeposition of platinum. The catalytic activity of the platinum-polyaniline-modified carbon fiber electrode (Pt/PAni/C) was compared with that of a bare carbon fiber electrode (Pt/C) by the oxidation of methanol. The maximum oxidation current of methanol on Pt/PAni/C is 50.7 mA.cm-2, which is 6.7 times higher than 7.6 mA.cm-2 on the Pt/C.Scanning electron microscopy was used to investigate the dispersion of the platinum particles of about 0.4 μm. | WUKezhong MENGXu WANGXindong LIJingling | 2005 | Rare Metals2005,24,1: | 9

Effects of insoluble dietary fiber from wheat bran on noodle quality显示文摘Benefiting from its favorable effects in promoting intestinal peristalsis, increasing satiety and reducing postprandial blood sugar, wheat bran insoluble dietary fiber(IDF)could be added to noodles to improve the nutrition value of noodle products. However, the addition of IDF usually results in an adverse effect on the quality characteristics of fiber fortified products, leading to unfavorable texture and consumption drop.It was found that IDF could weaken dough characteristics, thereby causing the quality deterioration of noodles, but the mechanism is unclear as yet. This study aimed to investigate the effects of different amounts of IDF on the texture quality and cooking quality of noodles. The water distribution, rheological properties, pasting properties and cooking properties of the noodles were determined by low-field nuclear magnetic resonance(LF-NMR),dynamic rheometer, and rapid visco-analyzer.The results of the LF-NMR showed that the increased IDF in the noodles resulted in a contraction of relaxation time and an increase in the proportion of loosely bound water. At a high amount of IDF,the water absorption and tensile distance of the noodles significantly decreased and the cooking loss rate increased, with a downward trend in peak viscosity, final viscosity and setback values. Moreover,IDF could improve the storage modulus and loss modulus of sheeted dough and enhance the texture of noodles.Furthermore, the correlations between IDF addition amounts and rheological properties as well as cooking properties were analyzed, and the results confirmed that noodles with the IDF amount of 2%–4%had higher nutrition and quality. This study provides the basis for future development and improvement of IDF-enriched health foods. | Mengxu Lei Jihong Huang Xiaoling Tian Peng Zhou Qi Zhu Limin Li Li Li Sen Ma Xiaoxi Wang | 2021 | Grain & Oil Science and Technology2021,4,1: | 8
The novel H1N1 Influenza A global airline transmission and early warning without travel containments显示文摘A novel influenza A (H1N1) has been spreading worldwide. Early studies implied that international air travels might be key cause of a severe potential pandemic without appropriate containments. In this study, early outbreaks in Mexico and some cities of United States were used to estimate the preliminary epidemic parameters by applying adjusted SEIR epidemiological model, indicating transmissibility infectivity of the virus. According to the findings, a new spatial allocation model totally based on the real-time airline data was established to assess the potential spreading of H1N1 from Mexico to the world. Our estimates find the basic reproductive number R0 of H1N1 is around 3.4, and the effective reproductive number fall sharply by effective containment strategies. The finding also implies Spain, Canada, France, Panama, Peru are the most possible country to be involved in severe endemic H1N1 spreading. | CHANG ChaoYi CAO ChunXiang WANG Qiao CHEN Yu CAO ZhiDong ZHANG Hao DONG Lei ZHAO Jian XU Min GAO MengXu ZHONG ShaoBo HE QiSheng WANG JinFeng LI XiaoWen | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,26: | 6
A fully automatic registration approach based on contour and SIFT for HJ-1 images显示文摘To achieve a fully automatic registration between HJ-1 CCD images and HJ-1 infrared images is a difficult task as it must deal with the varying illuminations and resolutions of the images, different perspectives, and the local deformations within the images. In this paper, aimed at those registration issues,a fully automatic registration approach based on contour and SIFT is proposed. The registration technique performs a pre-registration process using contour feature matching algorithm that decides the overlapping region between a reference image and an input image.Once the coarse regions are obtained,it performs a fine registration process based on SIFT detector and a local adaptive matching strategy. In the fine registration process, image blocking theory is used, which not only speeds up the features extraction and matching, but also makes the matching point pairs distributed uniformly in images, and further improves the accuracy of input image rectification.Experiments with visible images and infrared images from HJ-1A/B demonstrate the efficiency and the accuracy of the proposed technique for multisource remote sensing images registration. | NI XiLiang CAO ChunXiang DING Lin JIANG Tao ZHANG Hao JIA HuiCong LI GuangHe ZHAO Jian CHEN Wei JI Wei XU Min GAO MengXu ZHENG Sheng TIAN Rong LIU Cheng LI Sha | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,10: | 5
Remote sensing based shrub above-ground biomass and carbon storage mapping in Mu Us desert,China显示文摘The estimation of above-ground biomass(AGB) and carbon storage is very important for arid and semi-arid ecosystems.HJ-1A/B satellite data combined with field measurement data was used for the estimation of shrub AGB and carbon storage in the Mu Us desert,China. The correlations of shrub AGB and spectral reflectance of four bands as well as their combined vegetation indexes were respectively analyzed and stepwise regression analysis was employed to establish AGB prediction equation. The prediction equation based on ratio vegetation index(RVI)was proved to be more suitable for shrub AGB estimation in the Mu Us desert than others.Shrub AGB and carbon storage were mapped using the RVI based prediction model in final. The statistics showed the western Mu Us desert has relatively high AGB and carbon storage, and that the gross shrub carton storage in Mu Us desert reaches 16 799 200 t,which has greatly contributed to the carbon fixation in northern China. | XU Min 1,2,CAO ChunXiang 1,TONG QingXi 1,LI ZengYuan 3,ZHANG Hao 1,HE QiSheng 1,2,GAO MengXu 1,2,ZHAO Jian 1,2,ZHENG Sheng 1,2,CHEN Wei 1,2 & ZHENG LanFen 1 1State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science,Jointly Sponsored by the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing Normal University,Beijing 100101,China 2 Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100049,China 3 Research Institute of Forest Resources and Information Techniques,Chinese Academy of Forestry,Beijing 10009,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,S1: | 5
Wang-Bi tablet, a patented Chinese medicine, maintains the balance of Th1/Th2 in mice with collagen-induced arthritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the pharmacological mechanism of Wang-Bi tablets(WBTs), a Chinese patented medicine, in rheumatoid arthritis(RA) using mice with collagen-induced arthritis(CIA).METHODS: A mouse model of CIA was induced using bovine type Ⅱ collagen. WBT treatment was administered and efficacy was evaluated. The levels of interferon-γ(IFN-γ), interleukin-2(IL-2), and interleukin-4(IL-4) were examined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and the proportions of Th1 and Th2 were detected using flow cytometry. T-bet and GATA-binding protein 3(GATA3)expression were demonstrated using Western blot analysis.RESULTS: Paw swelling and the arthritis index decreased significantly following WBT treatment. Histopathological analysis revealed markedly alleviated damage to synovium tissue in the WBT and methotrexate treatment groups. WBT regulated the production of IFN-γ, IL-2, and IL-4 and modulated Th1 and Th2 cell populations, which might have been induced by the attenuation of Th1 and Th2 cell differentiation through a decrease in the expression of T-bet and an increase in the expression of GATA3 in the synovial tissue in CIA mice.CONCLUSION: These results indicate that WBT may produce a therapeutic effect on CIA through maintaining the balance of Th1/Th2 cells, which could result in a decrease in the autoinflammatory disorder observed in RA. | Wang Jianming Luo Jing Xu Yuan Yan Zeran Qu Xiangke Chen Mengxue Tao Qingwen | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,3: | 5
Delivery of triptolide with reduction-sensitive polymer nanoparticles for liver cancer therapy on patient-derived xenografts models显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has become the fourth predominant cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and HCC is still one of the worst prognoses for survival as it is poorly responsive to both chemotherapy and surgical treatment due to drug resista nce and great toxic effects.Triptolide(TP),a key ingredient from the traditional Chinese medical herb, has been utilized to treat inflammation and antitumor for centuries. However, investigations of this potent agent have been met with only limited success due to the severe systemic toxicities in patients and low water solubility as well as its high toxicity over the past two decades.Herein,we reported the development of a reduction-responsive drug delive ry system loaded with TP fo r glutathione(GSH)-trigge red drug release for cancer therapy. With the GSH-sensitive TP loaded nanoparticles, the remarkable increases in tumor accumulation and amelioration of drug toxicity in animals are demonstrated, which is likely due to sustained stepwise release of active TP within cancer cells. Moreover,in a patient-derived tumor xenograft model of liver cancer, administration of tritolide nanoparticles enhances the antitumor efficacy relative to administration of free TP.These findings indicate that GSH-sensitive release of TP may be a promising strategy for cancer treatment. | Mengxue He Ling Yu Yuanyuan Yang Binhua Zou Wen Ma Meng Yu Jiandong Lu Guoliang Xiong Zhiqiang Yu Aimin Li | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,12: | 5
Remote-mode microsphere nano-imaging:new boundaries for optical microscopes显示文摘Optical microscope is one of the most popular characterization techniques for general purposes in many fields. It is distinguishedfrom the vacuum or tip-based imaging techniques for its flexibility, low cost, and fast speed. However, its resolutionlimits the functionality of current optical imaging performance. While microspheres have been demonstrated forimproving the observation power of optical microscope, they are directly deposited on the sample surface and thus theapplications are greatly limited. We develop a remote-mode microsphere nano-imaging platform which can scan freelyand in real-time across the sample surfaces. It greatly increases the observation power and successfully characterizesvarious practical samples with the smallest feature size down to 23 nm. This method offers many unique advantages, such as enabling the detection to be non-invasive, dynamic, real-time, and label-free, as well as leading to more functionalitiesin ambient air and liquid environments, which extends the nano-scale observation power to a broad scope inour life. | Lianwei Chen Yan Zhou Mengxue Wu Minghui Hong | 2018 | Opto-Electronic Advances2018,1,1: | 4
Establishment of genomic library technology mediated by non-homologous end joining mechanism in Yarrowia lipolytica显示文摘Genomic variants libraries are conducive to obtain dominant strains with desirable phenotypic traits. The non-homologous end joining(NHEJ),which enables foreign DNA fragments to be randomly integrated into different chromosomal sites, shows prominent capability in genomic libraries construction. In this study,we established an efficient NHEJ-mediated genomic library technology in Yarrowia lipolytica through regulation of NHEJ repair process, employment of defective Ura marker and optimization of iterative transformations, which enhanced genes integration efficiency by 4.67,22.74 and 1.87 times, respectively. We further applied this technology to create high lycopene producing strains by multi-integration of heterologous genes of CrtE,CrtB and CrtI,with 23.8 times higher production than rDNA integration through homologous recombination(HR).The NHEJ-mediated genomic library technology also achieved random and scattered integration of loxP and vox sites, with the copy number up to 65 and 53,respectively,creating potential for further application of recombinase mediated genome rearrangement in Y.lipolytica.This work provides a high-efficient NHEJ-mediated genomic library technology, which enables random and scattered genomic integration of multiple heterologous fragments and rapid generation of diverse strains with superior phenotypes within 96 h.This novel technology also lays an excellent foundation for the development of other genetic technologies in Y.lipolytica. | Qiuyan Bai Shuai Cheng Jinlai Zhang Mengxu Li Yingxiu Cao Yingjin Yuan | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,12: | 4
Identification and differentiation of major components in three different “Sheng-ma” crude drug species by UPLC/Q-TOF-MS显示文摘Cimicifugae Rhizoma(Sheng ma) is a Ranunculaceae herb belonging to a composite family and well known in China, has been widely used in traditional Chinese medicine. The Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China contains three varieties(Cimicifuga dahurica(Turcz.),Cimicifuga foetida L.and Cimicifuga heracleifolia Kom.) which have been used clinically as 'Sheng-ma'.However,the chemical constituents of three components of 'Sheng-ma' have never been documented. In this study,a rapid method for the analysis of the main components of 'Sheng-ma' was developed using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography with quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UPLC/Q-TOF-MS).The present study reveals the major common and distinct chemical constituents of C.dahurica,C.foetida and C.heracleifolia and also reports principal component and statistical analyses of these results. The components were identified by comparing the retention time, accurate mass, mass spectrometric fragmentation characteristic ions and matching empirical molecular formula with that of the published compounds.A total of 32 common components and 8 markers for different 'Sheng-ma' components were identified. These findings provide an important basis for the further study and clinical utilities of the three 'Sheng-ma' varieties. | Mengxue Fan Kunming Qin Fei Ding Yuting Huang Xiaoli Wang Baochang Cai | 2017 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2017,7,2: | 4
Symptom network topological features predict the effectiveness of herbal treatment for pediatric cough显示文摘Pediatric cough is a heterogeneous condition in terms of symptoms and the underlying disease mechanisms.Symptom phenotypes hold complicated interactions between each other to form an intricate network structure. This study aims to investigate whether the network structure of pediatric cough symptoms is associated with the prognosis and outcome of patients.A total of 384 cases were derived from the electronic medical records of a highly experienced traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) physician. The data were divided into two groups according to the therapeutic effect, namely,an invalid group (group A with 40 cases of poor efficacy) and a valid group (group B with 344 cases of good efficacy).Several well-established analysis methods, namely, statistical test, correlation analysis, and complex network analysis, were used to analyze the data. This study reports that symptom networks of patients with pediatric cough are related to the effectiveness of treatment: a dense network of symptoms is associated with great difficulty in treatment.Interventions with the most different symptoms in the symptom network may have improved therapeutic effects. | Mengxue Huang Jingjing Wang Runshun Zhang Zhuying Ni Xiaoying Liu Wenwen Liu Weilian Kong Yao Chen Tiantian Huang Guihua Li Dan Wei Jianzhong Liu Xuezhong Zhou | 2020 | Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,3: | 4
Formation mechanism of yolk-shell LaMnO3 microspheres prepared by P123-template and oxidation of NO显示文摘The yolk-shell LaMnO3 perovskite microspheres were fabricated by a novel, simple and mild soft template approach.A series of template-P123 concentrations(0-6.12 mmol·L^-1)were employed to optimize the most complete spheres. When the concentration of P123 is 3.0 mmol·L^-1,the obtained yolk-shell microspheres with a diameter of 200-700 nm were constructed by nanoparticles. The possible formation mechanism of the yolk-shell microspheres was revealed step by step via XRD,SEM,TEM,EDS and HRTEM.Molecules of P123 were suitably mixed with solvents for double shelled vesicles through self-assembly,which interacted with metal complexes to form P123-metal vesicles. After the removal of P123 and citric acid by calcination at 700 ℃,the yolk-shell LaMnO3 microspheres with through-channels were obtained.Through-channels on the surface were due to citric acid and the solid core was attributed to the shrink of inner vesicles.Prepared yolk-shell microsphere samples possessed a larger surface area and a higher maximum NO conversion value of 78% at 314 ℃ for NO oxidation, compared with samples without the yolk-shell structure. | Lihui WU Qiuling JIANG Li WANG Ying WANG Mengxue WANG | 2019 | Frontiers of Materials Science2019,13,1: | 3
Effect of scar-producing moxibustion at the acupoints Zusanli(ST 36) and Feishu(BL 13) on neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and quality of life in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer: A randomized, controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of heat stimulation via scar-producing moxibustion at the acupoints Zusanli(ST 36) and Feishu(BL 13) on the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR) and quality of life in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC).METHODS: Seventy patients with NSCLC were randomly assigned into two groups: group A received scar-producing moxibustion at the acupoints Zusanli(ST 36) and Feishu(BL 13) every day for 6 weeks, while group B received no intervention(control group). Outcome measures were the NLR and the scores from the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire(EORTC QLQ-C30). The NLR and the EORTC QLQ-C30 were assessed at baseline and at the end of 6 weeks.RESULTS: Five participants dropped out, leaving afinal total of 65 participants who completed the trial. Groups A and B had a similar mean NLR at baseline. After the treatment course, the NLR in group A was significantly lower than that in group B(P <0.001). Compared with group B, the EORTC QLQ-C30 scores in group A were significantly greater in terms of global health status or quality of life(P < 0.001) and function(P < 0.05), and significantly lower in terms of symptoms(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: The present study suggests that performing scar-producing moxibustion by heat-stimulating the acupoints Zusanli(ST 36) and Feishu(BL13) effectively decreases the NLR and improves the quality of life in patients with NSCLC. | Zhang Mengxue Guan Ling Wang Lili Li Ying | 2018 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2018,38,3: | 3
Bioassay-Guided Extraction of Crude Fucose-Containing Sulphated Polysaccharides from Sargassum fusiforme with Response Surface Methodology显示文摘The response surface methodology(RSM) combined with bioassays was employed to optimize the extraction process of crude fucose-containing sulphated polysaccharides(c FCSP) from Sargassum fusiforme. The central composite design(CCD) was used with four variables, five levels, and four responses. The four variables were p H value of hydrochloric acid solution, extraction temperature(℃), ratio of liquid to raw material(m L g^(-1)), and extraction time(h), respectively. Chemical and bioassay indices were used in combination as the response parameters, which included the yield of c FCSP, fucose content, proliferation rate of spleen cells, and lipopolysaccharide-induced proliferation of splenocytes. The experimental data were fitted to a second-order polynomial equation using multiple regression analysis, and examined using the appropriate statistical methods. The best extraction conditions were as follows: the p H value of hydrochloric acid solution was 3.50; the extraction temperature was 100℃; the ratio of liquid to raw material was 15.00 m L g^(-1) and the extraction time was 2.50 h. The experimental yield was close to the predicted from the model. The extract could promote spleen lymphocyte proliferation, especially the lipopolysaccharide-induced lymphocyte proliferation in vitro, which suggested that its immunomodulatory effect on B lymphocytes. Therefore, c FCSP extracted from S. fusiforme could be utilized as an immunostimulant in functional foods and pharmaceutical industry in future. | FU Zhifei LI Haihua LIU Hongbing HU Shuman LI Yueying WANG Mengxue GUAN Huashi | 2016 | Journal of Ocean University of China2016,15,3: | 2
PMN-MDSCs modulated by CCL20 from cancer cells promoted breast cancer cell stemness through CXCL2-CXCR2 pathway显示文摘Our previous studies have showed that C-C motif chemokine ligand 20(CCL20)advanced tumor progression and enhanced the chemoresistance of cancer cells by positively regulating breast cancer stem cell(BCSC)self-renewal.However,it is unclear whether CCL20 affects breast cancer progression by remodeling the tumor microenvironment(TME).Here,we observed that polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells(PMN-MDSCs)were remarkably enriched in TME of CCL20-overexpressing cancer cell orthotopic allograft tumors.Mechanistically,CCL20 activated the differentiation of granulocyte-monocyte progenitors(GMPs)via its receptor C-C motif chemokine receptor 6(CCR6)leading to the PMN-MDSC expansion.PMN-MDSCs from CCL20-overexpressing cell orthotopic allograft tumors(CCL20-modulated PMN-MDSCs)secreted amounts of C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 2(CXCL2)and increased ALDH+BCSCs via activating CXCR2/NOTCH1/HEY1 signaling pathway.Furthermore,C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 2(CXCR2)antagonist SB225002 enhanced the docetaxel(DTX)effects on tumor growth by decreasing BCSCs in CCL20high-expressing tumors. These findings elucidated how CCL20 modulated the TME to promote cancer development, indicating a new therapeutic strategy by interfering with the interaction between PMN-MDSCs and BCSCs in breast cancer, especially in CCL20high-expressing breast cancer. | Rui Zhang Mengxue Dong Juchuanli Tu Fengkai Li Qiaodan Deng Jiahui Xu Xueyan He Jiajun Ding Jie Xia Dandan Sheng Zhaoxia Chang Wei Ma Haonan Dong Yi Zhang Lixing Zhang Lu Zhang Suling Liu | 2023 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,4: | 2
Changes in the death probability of China’s elderly population and rethinking the definition of old age显示文摘A study of the age-specific death probability of China’s elderly population from 1982 to 2010 shows that, during the past 30 years, the death probability of China’s elderly population has decreased over time. This indicates that the health status of and meaning of age for the elderly population has been changing. At the same time, changes in economic, social and environmental factors and the development of science and technology have not only greatly changed the lifestyles and work situation of the elderly population, but also provided them with more opportunities to participate in economic and social activities, thus making today’s elderly people“healthier”and“younger”than those of previous generations. In conclusion, the findings of this paper suggest that it is necessary to rethink the traditional definition of elderly population. In addition, changes in the death probability of the elderly population of China also show significant gender and regional differences domestically, and there are gaps in the death probability of the elderly in China versus in developed countries, indicating that China still has a long way to go to complete a fundamental transformation of death patterns.A full understanding of such changes and differences will allow us to redefine old age and develop a new understanding of the aging society.Such an understanding can also help us to reconstruct the public policy system to meet the needs of a future society in which aging is the normal state of affairs. | Min Lu Xizhe Peng Mengxue Chen | 2019 | China Population and Development Studies2019,2,1: | 2
