| 2 | Role of environmental pollution in irritable bowel syndrome显示文摘Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS),with the prevalence of 10%-20 % of the population has become an emerging problem worldwide. IBS is a functional gastrointestinal(GI) disorder characterized by abdominal pain or discomfort and altered bowel habits. The etiology of IBS contains genetic,psychological,and immunological factors,and has not been fully elucidated; of note,recent studies also point at environmental pollution and its role in the development of functional GI diseases. In this review we focus on several environmental factors,such as bacterial contamination,air pollution,radiation and even stress as potential triggers of IBS. We discuss associated disturbances in homeostasis,such as changes in intestinal microbiome and related pathophysiological mechanisms. | 7 | The therapeutic potential of targeting exchange protein directly activated by cyclic adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate(Epac)for central nervous system trauma显示文摘Millions of people worldwide are affected by traumatic spinal cord injury,which usually results in permanent sensorimotor disability.Damage to the spinal cord leads to a series of detrimental events including ischaemia,haemorrhage and neuroinflammation,which over time result in further neural tissue loss.Eventually,at chronic stages of traumatic spinal cord injury,the formation of a glial scar,cystic cavitation and the presence of numerous inhibitory molecules act as physical and chemical barriers to axonal regrowth.This is further hindered by a lack of intrinsic regrowth ability of adult neurons in the central nervous system.The intracellular signalling molecule,cyclic adenosine 3′,5′-monophosphate(cAMP),is known to play many important roles in the central nervous system,and elevating its levels as shown to improve axonal regeneration outcomes following traumatic spinal cord injury in animal models.However,therapies directly targeting cAMP have not found their way into the clinic,as cAMP is ubiquitously present in all cell types and its manipulation may have additional deleterious effects.A downstream effector of cAMP,exchange protein directly activated by cAMP 2(Epac2),is mainly expressed in the adult central nervous system,and its activation has been shown to mediate the positive effects of cAMP on axonal guidance and regeneration.Recently,using ex vivo modelling of traumatic spinal cord injury,Epac2 activation was found to profoundly modulate the post-lesion environment,such as decreasing the activation of astrocytes and microglia.Pilot data with Epac2 activation also suggested functional improvement assessed by in vivo models of traumatic spinal cord injury.Therefore,targeting Epac2 in traumatic spinal cord injury could represent a novel strategy in traumatic spinal cord injury repair,and future work is needed to fully establish its therapeutic potential. | Alba Guijarro-Belmar Dominik Mateusz Domanski Xuenong Bo Derryck Shewan Wenlong Huang | 2021 | Neural Regeneration Research2021,16,3: | 3 |
| 8 | Influence of wet activation of used inorganic binder on cyclically refreshed water glass moulding sands hardened by microwaves显示文摘The paper presents the research results of using an innovative method to reclaim the waste moulding sands containing water glass. Two of the examined processes are connected with 'dry' or 'wet' activation of inorganic binder in waste moulding sand mixtures physically hardened by microwave radiation. The sand mixtures consisting of high-silica sand and water-glass with average molar module 2.5, were subjected to the following cyclical process: mixing the components, compacting, microwave heating, cooling-down, thermally loading the mould to 800 °C, cooling-down to ambient temperature, and knocking-out. After being knocked-out, the waste moulding sands were subjected to either dry or wet activation of the binder. To activate thermally treated inorganic binder, each of the examined processes employed the surface phenomenon usually associated to mechanical reclamation. The study also covered possible use of some elements of wet reclamation to rehydrate waste binder. To evaluate the effectiveness of the two proposed methods of waste binder activation, selected strength and technological parameters were measured. After each subsequent processing cycle, the permeability, tensile strength and bending strength were determined. In addition, the surface of activated sand grains was examined with a scanning electron microscope. Analysis of the results indicates that it is possible to re-activate the used binder such as sodium silicate, and to stabilize the strength parameters in both activation processes. Permeability of the refreshed moulding sands strongly depends on the surface condition of high-silica grains. The wet activation process by wetting and buffering knocked-out moulding sands in closed humid environment makes it possible to reduce the content of refreshing additive in water-glass. The moulding sands cyclically prepared in both processes do not require the addition of fresh high-silica sand. The relatively high quality achieved in the refreshed moulding sands allows them to be reused for manufacture of next moulds. | 11 | Monitoring System of tourist traffic(MSTT) for tourists monitoring in mid-mountain national park,SW Poland显示文摘National parks are highly valuable natural areas and have the potential to attract a large number of visitors.The number of visitors at national parks is systematically increasing,often exceeding Tourism Carrying Capacity(TCC)of trails.This situation requires adjusting the number of park visitors to adapt to sustainable management systems of visitor flow,thus preventing or counteracting overtourism.The aim of the study is to propose a comprehensive method for tourists monitoring in mid-mountain national park presented on the example of the Sto?owe Mountains National Park(SMNP)in Poland,called as Monitoring System of tourist traffic(MSTT).The study describes six stages procedure of tourists Monitoring System creation and application as an optimal measurement technique.The MSTT enabled a multidimensional analysis of tourist traffic in SMNP.With the help of 39 pyroelectric sensors and surveys data spatio-temporal characteristic of visitor flow was obtained.The data generated in MSTT included hourly,daily,weekly,monthly,and annual reports,taking into account the direction of traffic measuring both directions:entries(IN),exits(OUT)and passages(IN+OUT).The results from pyroelectric sensors were supplemented with field surveys,where visitor’s motivations,preferences,and behaviours were determined.In 2017 a total of 871,344 visitors were recorded in SMNP what causes one of the most popular national parks in Poland.The SMNP is a suitable destination for short breaks leisure visits in wilderness.In order to sustain MSTT methodology in the long-run the set of guidelines together with the workload estimates were presented.In the future,the MSTT can be further developed,including monitoring of climbing,cycling,cross-country skiing,car traffic and illegal tourism assessment.The MSTT can be considered as a useful tool for tourism management in mid-mountain national parks throughout the entire calendar year. | Mateusz ROGOWSKI | 2020 | Journal of Mountain Science2020,17,8: | 2 |
| 12 | Applications of the conformal transformation method instudies of composed superconducting systems显示文摘A framework for analytical studies of superconducting systems is presented and illustrated. Theformalism, based on the conformal transformation of momentum space, allows one to study theeffects of both the dispersion relation and the structure of the pairing interaction in two-dimensionalanisotropic high-Tc superconductors. In this method, the number of employed degrees of freedomcoincides with the dimension of the momentum space, which is different compared to that in thestandard Van Hove scenario with a single degree of freedom. A new function, the kernel of thedensity of states, is defined and its relation to the standard density of states is explained. Theversatility of the method is illustrated by analyzing coexistence and competition between spin-singletand spin-triplet order parameters in superconducting systems with a tight-binding-type dispersionrelation and an anisotropic pairing potential. Phase diagrams of stable superconducting states inthe coordinates η (the ratio of hopping parameters) and n (the carrier concentration) are presentedand discussed.
