| 1 | Development of a time-dependent energy model to calculate the mining-induced stress over gates and pillars显示文摘Generally, longwall mining-induced stress results from the stress relaxation due to destressed zone that occurs above the mined panel. Knowledge of induced stress is very important for accurate design of adjacent gateroads and intervening pillars which helps to raise the safety and productivity of longwall mining operations. This study presents a novel time-dependent analytical model for determination of the longwall mining-induced stress and investigates the coefficient of stress concentration over adjacent gates and pillars. The model is developed based on the strain energy balance in longwall mining incorporated to a rheological constitutive model of caved materials with time-varying parameters. The study site is the Tabas coal mine of Iran. In the proposed model, height of destressed zone above the mined panel, total longwall mining-induced stress, abutment angle, induced vertical stress, and coefficient of stress concentration over neighboring gates and intervening pillars are calculated. To evaluate the effect of proposed model parameters on the coefficient of stress concentration due to longwall mining, sensitivity analysis is performed based on the field data and experimental constants. Also, the results of the proposed model are compared with those of existing models. The comparative results confirm a good agreement between the proposed model and the in situ measurements. According to the obtained results, it is concluded that the proposed model can be successfully used to calculate the longwall mining-induced stress. | 2 | Prediction of representative deformation modulus of longwall panel roof rock strata using Mamdani fuzzy system显示文摘Deformation modulus is the important parameter in stability analysis of tunnels, dams and mining structures. In this paper, two predictive models including Mamdani fuzzy system(MFS) and multivariable regression analysis(MVRA) were developed to predict deformation modulus based on data obtained from dilatometer tests carried out in Bakhtiary dam site and additional data collected from longwall coal mines. Models inputs were considered to be rock quality designation, overburden height, weathering,unconfined compressive strength, bedding inclination to core axis, joint roughness coefficient and fill thickness. To control the models performance, calculating indices such as root mean square error(RMSE),variance account for(VAF) and determination coefficient(R2) were used. The MFS results show the significant prediction accuracy along with high performance compared to MVRA results. | 3 | The Relationship Between Developmental Accumulation of Leaf Soluble Proteins and Vernalization Response of Wheat(Triticum aestivum L.em. Thell)显示文摘The relationship between vernalization requirement and quantitative and qualitative changes in total leaf soluble proteins were determined in one spring(cv.Kohdasht) and two winter(cvs.Sardari and Norstar) cultivars of wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) exposed to 4°C.Plants were sampled on days 2,14,21 and 35 of exposure to 4°C.The final leaf number(FLN) was determined throughout the vernalization periods(0,7,14,24,and 35 d) at 4°C.The final leaf number decreased until days 24 and 35 in Sardari and Norstar cultivars,respectively,indicating the vernalization saturation at these times.No clear changes were detected in the final leaf number of Kohdash cultivar,verifying no vernalization requirement for this spring wheat cultivar.Comparing with control,clear cold-induced 2-fold increases in proteins quantity occurred after 48 h following the 4°C-treatment in the leaves of the both winter wheat cultivars but,such response was not detected in the spring cultivar.However,the electrophoretic protein patterns showed between-cultivar and between-temperature treatment differences.With increasing exposure time to 4°C,the winter cultivars tended to produce more HMW polypeptides than the spring cultivar.Similar proteins were induced in both Sardari and Norstar winter wheat cultivars,however,the long vernalization requirement in Norstar resulted in high level and longer duration of expression of cold-induced proteins compared to Sardari with a short vernalization requirement.These observations indicate that vernalization response regulates the expression of low temperature(LT) tolerance proteins and determines the duration of expression of LT-induced proteins. | M Majdi G Karimzadeh S Mahfoozi | 2009 | Agricultural Sciences in China2009,8,4: | 5 |

| 6 | Experimental investigation of changes in petrophysical properties and structural deformation of carbonate reservoirs显示文摘To examine the effect of pressure on pore structure and petrophysical properties of carbonate rock, the porosity, permeability, CT scanning, SEM and elastic wave velocity of two carbonate core plug samples from an oilfield in Southwest Iran were analyzed under cyclic pressure. One of the plugs was calcite and the other was dolomite with anhydrite nodules. The cyclic pressure exerted on the samples increased from 13.79 MPa to 27.58 MPa in six steps, and the variations in petrophysical properties of the two samples at different pressure loading and unloading steps were counted and analyzed. The results show that the calcite sample decreases in porosity and permeability with the increase of pressure, which is consistent with the results from compression and shear wave velocity tests. In the dolomite sample, the decreasing trend was not observed;fluctuations of compressive and shear velocities were observed during the loading stage, which may be due to different geometries of the pores and the porosity variation in the sample. | 7 | Factors influencing the yield of mesenteric angiography in lower gastrointestinal bleed显示文摘AIM: To assess if certain triaging rules could be established to optimize the yield of mesenteric angiography. METHODS: Medical records of 101 patients were retrospectively reviewed and parameters relating to age, gender, pulse rate, blood pressure, serum hemoglobin, intensive care unit(ICU) admission, and the number of packed red blood cells(PRBC) transfused in the 12 and 24 h prior to the angiography were tabulated in two groups with positive and negative angiography results. RESULTS: We found no correlation between gender, pulse rate, blood pressure or serum hemoglobin and positivity of the mesenteric angiogram. But patients with positive angiogram were found to be on average 7 years older(73.2 years vs 65.9 years old)(P = 0.02). Angiogram was positive in 39.3 %(11/28) of patientsadmitted in ICU vs 23.2%(17/73) who were admitted elsewhere in the hospital(P = 0.03). In the 12 and 24 h prior to angiography, patients with a positive angiogram received a mean of 2.7 ± 2.3 and 3.3 ± 2.6 units of PRBC s respectively, while patients with a negative angiogram had a mean of 1.6 ± 1.9(P = 0.02) and 2.1 ± 2.6 units(P = 0.04) received respectively in the same period.
