1Survival analysis of cholangiocarcinoma:A 10-year experience in Malaysia显示文摘AIM:To investigate the clinical features and survival of patients treated for cholangiocarcinoma in our institution and to analyze the factors affecting their survival.METHODS:This retrospective cohort study assessed patients diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma between January 1997 and December 2007 at the University Malaya Medical Centre in Malaysia.The clinical data and associated outcomes were collected using a structured proforma.RESULTS:Of the 69 patients diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma,38 (55%) were male;mean patient age was 61 years.Twelve patients (17%) had intrahepatic,38 (55%) had perihilar and 19 (28%) had distal tumors.Only 12 patients underwent curative surgery,including seven R0 resections.Only one patient died within 30 d after surgery.The overall median survival was 4 mo,whereas the median survival of R0 resected patients was 16 mo.The overall 1-,2-and 3-year cumulative survival rates were 67%,17% and 17%,respectively.Survival rates were significantly associated with curative resection (P=0.002),intrahepatic tumor (P=0.003),negative margin status (P=0.013),early tumor stage (P=0.016),higher tumor differentiation (P=0.032) and absence of jaundice (P=0.038).Multivariate analysis showed that tumor location was a significant independent predictor of patient survival.CONCLUSION:Curative,margin-negative resection of early stage,well-differentiated intrahepatic tumors is associated with improved patient survival.Ahmad Ramzi Yusoff Mohd Muzammil Abdul Razak Yoong Boon Koon R Vijeyasingam Siti Zuraidah Mahmud 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,5:7
2Reconfigurable Pattern Patch Antenna for Mid-Band 5G:A Review显示文摘New requirements in communication technologies make it imperative to rehash conventional features such as reconfigurable antennas to adapt with the future adaptability advancements.This paper presents a comprehensive review of reconfigurable antennas,specifically in terms of radiation patterns for adaptation in the upcoming Fifth Generation(5G)New Radio frequency bands.They represent the key of antenna technology for materializing a high rate transmission,increased spectral and energy efficiency,reduced interference,and improved the beam steering and beam shaping,thereby land a great promise for planar antennas to boost the mid-band 5G.This review begins with an overview of the underlying principals in reconfiguring radiation patterns,followed by the presentations of the implemented innovative antenna topologies to suit particular advanced features.The various adaptation techniques of radiation pattern reconfigurable planar antennas and the understanding of its antenna design approaches has been investigated for its radiation pattern enhancement.A variety of design configurations have also been critically studied for their compatibilities to be operated in the midband communication systems.The review provides new insights on pattern reconfigurable antenna where such antennas are categorized as beam steering antenna and beamshaping antennas where the operation modes and purposes are clearly investigated.The review also revealed that for mid-band 5G communication,the commonly used electronic switching such as PIN diodes have sufficient isolation loss to provide the required beam performance.Siti Rahena Isa Muzammil Jusoh Thennarasan Sabapathy Jamel Nebhen Muhammad Ramlee Kamarudin Mohamed Nasrun Osman Qammer Hussain Abbasi Hasliza A.Rahim Mohd Najib Mohd Yasin Ping Jack Soh 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,2:1
3A Preliminary Assessment of Load Consumption and Solar Power Potential at Kota Belud,Sabah显示文摘This paper presents a detailed preliminary assessment of load consumption and solar power potential at the Eco-Tourism Centre of Liogu Ku Silou-Silou(EPLISSI),Kota Belud,Sabah.This initial investigation assessed the feasibility of an off-grid solar PV system at EPLISSI with a suitable solar panel system for project installation and commissioning purposes.Due to the absence of an electrical grid and power supply,no pre-existing electrical appliances could be found in EPLISSI.Hence,an excel-based software,the ESCoBox,was used to produce the load profiles.The input data for this software came from a list of required electrical appliances(LED lights,fans,and phone chargers)and the historical frequency of visitors to EPLISSI.Meanwhile,to assess the solar power potential at EPLISSI,an online simulator known as Global Solar Atlas version 2.3 or GSA 2.3 was used.As an input for the GSA 2.3,the initial solar panel system capacity was set for 0.5 kWp,and then an increment of 0.1 kWp was entered until specific criteria were met.The selection of the suitable size is made when the system can satisfy the daily total average load demand and a specific load fulfillment demand.As a result,it was found that the site requires a total average demand and a total peak demand of 4.60 and 11.87 kWh/day,respectively.From the GSA 2.3 generated report,an off-grid solar PV system with the capacity of 2.50 kWp solar PV can satisfy the daily total average load demand of this area,where the average PV energy output is within the range of between 7.74–9.80 kWh/day or an average of 8.72 kWh/day.In conclusion,this preliminary assessment indicates that installing an off-grid solar PV system in this area is possible.Maryon Eliza Matius Mohd Azlan Ismail Adriana Erica Amaludin Yan Yan Farm Mohd Adzrie Radzali Ahmad Fazlizan Wan Khairul Muzammil 2022Energy Engineering2022,119,4:1

5A Hybrid Modified Sine Cosine Algorithm Using Inverse Filtering and Clipping Methods for Low Autocorrelation Binary Sequences显示文摘The essential purpose of radar is to detect a target of interest and provide information concerning the target’s location,motion,size,and other parameters.The knowledge about the pulse trains’properties shows that a class of signals is mainly well suited to digital processing of increasing practical importance.A low autocorrelation binary sequence(LABS)is a complex combinatorial problem.The main problems of LABS are low Merit Factor(MF)and shorter length sequences.Besides,the maximum possible MF equals 12.3248 as infinity length is unable to be achieved.Therefore,this study implemented two techniques to propose a new metaheuristic algorithm based on Hybrid Modified Sine Cosine Algorithm with Cuckoo Search Algorithm(HMSCACSA)using Inverse Filtering(IF)and clipping method to achieve better results.The proposed algorithms,LABS-IF and HMSCACSA-IF,achieved better results with two large MFs equal to 12.12 and 12.6678 for lengths 231 and 237,respectively,where the optimal solutions belong to the skew-symmetric sequences.The MF outperformed up to 24.335%and 2.708%against the state-of-the-art LABS heuristic algorithm,xLastovka,and Golay,respectively.These results indicated that the proposed algorithm’s simulation had quality solutions in terms of fast convergence curve with better optimal means,and standard deviation.Siti Julia Rosli Hasliza A Rahim Khairul Najmy Abdul Rani Ruzelita Ngadiran Wan Azani Mustafa Muzammil Jusoh Mohd Najib Mohd Yasin Thennarasan Sabapathy Mohamedfareq Abdulmalek Wan Suryani Firuz Wan Ariffin Ahmed Alkhayyat 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,5:0
6Energy and Life Cycle Assessment of Zinc/Water Nanofluid Based Photovoltaic Thermal System显示文摘Cooling the PV surface in a Photovoltaic Thermal system is a pivotal operational aspect to be taken into account to achieve optimized values of performance parameters in a Photovoltaic Thermal System.The experimental design used in this study facilitates the flow of varying concentrations of Zn-water nanofluid in serpentine copper tubing installed at the rear of the PV panel thereby preventing the PV surface temperature from increasing beyond the threshold value at which a decrease in electrical efficiency starts to occur.This fusion of solar thermal with PV devices leads to better electrical and thermal efficiency values resulting in decreased cell degradation over time and maximization of the lifespan of the PV module and the energy output from the PV system.Due to the superior thermal heat properties of nanofluids,their usage in such systems has become increasingly widespread.Life cycle metrics which include Energy Payback period,Energy Production Factor and life cycle conversion efficiency were evaluated for the PVT system by exhaustively chalking fundamental parameters such as embodied energy of the PVT setup and the total energy output from the PVT system.This research aims to be a major milestone in the evolutionary journey of Photovoltaic Thermal modules by guiding the engineers working on the theory,design and implementation of PVT systems towards its economic feasibility,environmental impact and energy sustainability.Junaid Khan Rashid Ali Muzammil Zubair Syed Mohd Yahya 2022Energy Engineering2022,119,2:0
