1Progress on major genes for high fecundity in ewes显示文摘The existence of major genes affecting fecundity in sheep flocks throughout the world has been demonstrated.Three major genes whose mutations can increase ovulation rate have been discovered,and all related to the transforming growth factorβ(TGF-β)superfamily.The mutant FecB of bone morphogenetic protein receptor 1B(BMPR1B)has an additive effect on ovulation rate.Six mutations(Fec^(XI),Fec^(XH),Fec^(XG),Fec^(XB),Fec^(XL),Fec^(XR))of bone morphogenetic protein 15(BMP15)related with fertility have been identified that share the same mechanism.All the mutants can increase ovulation rate in heterozygotes and cause complete sterility in homozygotes.Homozygous ewes with two new mutations(FecX^(Gr),FecX^(O))of BMP15 had increased ovulation rate without causing sterility.There are five mutations in growth differentiation factor 9(GDF9)associated with sheep prolificacy where FecG^(E) and FecG^(F) have additive an effect on ovulation rate and litter size.The newly identifiedβ-1,4-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 2(B4GALNT2)gene of FecL is proposed as a new mechanism of ovulation rate regulation in sheep.Woodlands is an X-linked maternally imprinted gene which increases ovulation rate.In addition,several putative major genes need to be verified.This review is focused on the identification of the mutations and mechanisms whereby the major genes affecting ovulation rate.Qiuyue LIU Zhangyuan PAN Xiangyu WANG Wenping HU Ran DI Yaxing YAO Mingxing CHU 2014Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2014,1,4:3

3High-rate and high-capacity measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution with Fibonacci matrix coding in free space显示文摘This paper proposes a high-rate and high-capacity measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution(MDI-QKD) protocol with Fibonacci-valued and Lucas-valued orbital angular momentum(OAM) entangled states in free space. In the existing MDI-OAM-QKD protocols, the main encoding algorithm handles encoded numbers in a bit-by-bit manner. To design a fast encoding algorithm, we introduce a Fibonacci matrix coding algorithm, by which, encoded numbers are separated into segments longer than one bit. By doing so, when compared to the existing MDI-OAM-QKD protocols, the new protocol can effectively increase the key rate and the coding capacity. This is because Fibonacci sequences are used in preparing OAM entangled states, reducing the misattribution errors(which slow down the execution cycle of the entire QKD) in QKD protocols. Moreover, our protocol keeps the data blocks as small as possible, so as to have more blocks in a given time interval. Most importantly, our proposed protocol can distill multiple Fibonacci key matrices from the same block of data, thus reducing the statistical fluctuations in the sample and increasing the final QKD rate. 9Oral microbiota accelerates corrosion of 316L stainless steel for orthodontic applications显示文摘In this work,microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC)of 316 L stainless steel(SS)caused by oral microbiota was investigated with HOMINGS 16 S rRNA gene sequencing technology,and electrochemical and surface analysis techniques.The results showed that oral microbiota from different subjects developed multi-species biofilms with significant differences in structure and composition of bacteria strains on the316 L SS coupons.In the presence of oral microbiota,more severe pitting corrosion and faster dissolution of metallic ions including Ni and Cr were observed.The biofilm considerably decreased the pitting potential of 316 L SS from 1268.0±29.1 mV vs.SCE(abiotic control)to less than 500 mV vs.SCE.The corrosion current density in the presence of oral microbiota from subject 1(115.3±83.3 nA cm^(-2))and subject 2(184.4±162.0 nA cm^(-2))was at least 4 times more than that in the abiotic medium(28.0±2.3 nA cm^(-2)).The electroactive microorganisms with the potential to facilitate corrosion via extracellular electron transfer found in oral microbiota may be mainly responsible for the accelerated corrosion.Qingfu Wang Mingxing Zhang Chuntian Yang Yi Yang Enze Zhou Pan Liu Daiqiang Jin Dake Xu Lin Wu Fuhui Wang 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,33:0
10Sensing Traction Strain Induces Cell-Cell Distant Communications显示文摘Mechanobiology has been a highly recognized field in studying the importance of physical forces in physiologies at the molecular,cellular,tissue,organ and body-levels.Beside the intensive work focusing on the fine local biomechanical forces,the long-range force which can propagate through a relatively distant scale(in hundreds of micrometers and beyond)has been an intriguing topic with increasing attentions in recent years.The collective functions at cell population level often rely on cell-cell communications with or without direct contacts.Recent progresses including our own work indicate that the long-range biomechanical force propagating across scales far beyond single cell size may reserve the capability to trigger coordinative biological responses within cell population.Whether and how cells communicate mechanically in a distant manner remains largely to be explored.In respiratory system,the mechanical property of airway smooth muscle(ASM)is associated with asthma attack with prolonged contraction during airway hyper-responsiveness.In this work,we found that ASM cells rapidly self-assembled into a well-constructed network on 3D matrigel containing type I collagen(COL I),which required the collective functions and coordination of thousands of cells completed within 12-16 hours.Cells were assembled with aligned actin stress fibers and elongated nuclei.The assembling process relied on the long-range mechanical forces across the matrix to direct cell-cell distant interactions.We further found that single ASM cells could rapidly initiate multiple buds precisely pointing to neighboring cells in distance,which relied on cell traction force and force strain on the matrix.Beads tracking assay demonstrated the long-range transmission of cellular traction force to distant locations,and modeling of maximum strain distribution on matrix by finite element method predicted the consistency with cell directional protrusions and movements in experiments.Cells could sense each other in distance to move directionally on both non-fibrous matrigel and in much more efficient way when containing COL I.Cells recruited COL I from the hydrogel to build nearly identical COL I fibrous network to mechanically stabilize the cell network.Our results revealed that ASM cells can sense the traction strain transmitted through matrix to initiate distant communications and rapidly coordinate the network assembly at the population level through active cell-matrix interactions.As an interesting phenomenon,cells sound able to’make phone call’via the role of long-range mechanical force.In summary,this work demonstrated that long-range biomechanical force facilitates the collective functions of ASM cell population for network assembly.The cells reacted to traction strain on the matrix for distant communications,which resulted in directional budding and movement.Fibrous COL I had important roles in facilitating the efficiency of force transmission to induce the assembly and stabilizing the cell network.This work has helped advance the understanding of the feature andfunction of long-range biomechanical force at the cell population level.The observed high mechano-sensitivity of ASM cells might suggest a re-enforced feedback of enhanced contraction by excessive ASM under asthmatic condition.Zhili Qian Yang Jin Bing Bu Yan Pan Linhong Deng Mingxing Ouyang 2019医用生物力学2019,34,A01:0
