| 1 | Analysis of status and countermeasures of cancer incidence and mortality in China显示文摘Cancer is the leading cause of human deaths in the world and produces serious economic burdens. On September 12, 2018, the academic journal A Cancer Journal for Clinicians published an article about the latest statistics of cancers worldwide, which provided a status report on the global burden of 36 cancers in 185 countries worldwide. Cancer has also become a serious public health problem in China and caused more and more attention of the government and people in recent years. | 2 | Characterization and Source Apportionment of Volatile Organic Compounds in Urban and Suburban Tianjin, China显示文摘Tianjin is the third largest megacity and the fastest growth area in China, and consequently faces the problems of surface ozone and haze episodes. This study measures and characterizes volatile organic compounds(VOCs), which are ozone precursors, to identify their possible sources and evaluate their contribution to ozone formation in urban and suburban Tianjin,China during the Ha Chi(Haze in China) summer campaign in 2009. A total of 107 species of ambient VOCs were detected,and the average concentrations of VOCs at urban and suburban sites were 92 and 174 ppbv, respectively. Of those, 51 species of VOCs were extracted to analyze the possible VOC sources using positive matrix factorization. The identified sources of VOCs were significantly related to vehicular activities, which specifically contributed 60% to urban and 42% to suburban VOCs loadings in Tianjin. Industrial emission was the second most prominent source of ambient VOCs in both urban and suburban areas, although the contribution of industry in the suburban area(36%) was much higher than that at the urban area(16%). | 3 | Fractional Fourier domain analysis of decimation and interpolation显示文摘The sampling rate conversion is always used in order to decrease computational amount and storage load in a system. The fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) is a powerful tool for the analysis of nonstationary signals, especially, chirp-like signal. Thus, it has become an active area in the signal processing community, with many applications of radar, communication, electronic warfare, and information security. Therefore, it is necessary for us to generalize the theorem for Fourier domain analysis of decimation and interpolation. Firstly, this paper defines the digital fre- quency in the fractional Fourier domain (FRFD) through the sampling theorems with FRFT. Secondly, FRFD analysis of decimation and interpolation is proposed in this paper with digital frequency in FRFD followed by the studies of interpolation filter and decimation filter in FRFD. Using these results, FRFD analysis of the sam- pling rate conversion by a rational factor is illustrated. The noble identities of decimation and interpolation in FRFD are then deduced using previous results and the fractional convolution theorem. The proposed theorems in this study are the bases for the generalizations of the multirate signal processing in FRFD, which can advance the filter banks theorems in FRFD. | 4 | Autophagy inhibition enhances apigenin-induced apoptosis in human breast cancer cells显示文摘Apigenin (4',5,7-trihydroxyflavone) is a member of the flavone subclass of flavonoids present in fruits and vegetables. The involvement of autophagy in the apigenin-induced apoptotic death of human breast cancer cells was investigated. Cell proliferation and viability were assessed by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol- 2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and clonogenic assays. Flow cytometry, fluorescent staining and Western blot analysis were employed to detect apoptosis and autophagy, and the role of autophagy was assessed using autophagy inhibitors. Apigenin dose- and time-dependently repressed the proliferation and clonogenic survival of the human breast cancer T47D and MDA-MB-231 cell lines. The death of T47D and MDA-MB-231 cells was due to apoptosis associated with increased levels of Caspase3, PARP cleavage and Bax/Bcl-2 ratios. The results from flow cytometry and fluorescent staining also verified the occurrence of apoptosis. In addition, the apigenin-treated cells exhibited autophagy, as characterized by the appearance of autophagosomes under fluorescence microscopy and the accumulation of acidic vesicular organelles (AVOs) by flow cytometry. Furthermore, the results of the Western blot analysis revealed that the level of LC3-II, the processed form of LC3-I, was increased. Treatment with the autophagy inhibitor, 3-methyladenine (3-MA), significantly enhanced the apoptosis induced by apigenin, which was accompanied by an increase in the level of PARP cleavage. Similar results were also confirmed by flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy. These results indicate that apigenin has apoptosis-and autophagy-inducing effects in breast cancer cells. | 5 | Annual 30-m land use/land cover maps of China for 1980–2015 from the integration of AVHRR, MODIS and Landsat data using the BFAST algorithm显示文摘Annual land use land cover(LULC)change information at medium spatial resolution(i.e.at 30 m)is required in numerous subjects,such as biophysical modelling,land management and global change studies.Annual LULC information,however,is usually not available at continental or national scale due to reasons such as insufficient remote sensing data coverage or lack of computational capabilities.Here we integrate high temporal resolution and coarse spatial resolution satellite images(i.e.,Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)and Global Inventory Modelling and Mapping Studies(GIMMS)normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI))with high spatial resolution datasets(China’s Land-Use/cover Datasets(CLUDs)derived from 30-meter Landsat TM/ETM+/OLI)to generate reliable annual nominal 30 m LULC maps for the whole of China between 1980 and 2015.We also test the performance of a statistical based change detection algorithm(Breaks for Additive Seasonal and Trend),originally designed for tracking forest change,in classifying all-type LULC change.As a result,a nominal 30 m annual land use/land cover datasets(CLUD-A)from 1980 to 2015 was developed for the whole China.The mapping results were assessed with a change sample dataset,a regional annual validation sample set and a three-year China sample set.Of the detected change years,75.61%matched the exact time of conversion within±1 year.Annual mapping results provided a detail process of urbanization,deforestation,afforestation,water and cropland dynamics over the past 36 years.The consistent characterization of land change dynamics for China can be further used in scientific research and to support land management for policy-makers. | Yidi XU Le YU Dailiang PENG Jiyao ZHAO Yuqi CHENG Xiaoxuan LIU Wei LI Ran MENG Xinliang XU Peng GONG | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,9: | 12 |
| 6 | Geochronology and petrogenesis of the mafic dykes from the Purang ophiolite:Implications for evolution of the western Yarlung-Tsangpo suture zone,southwestern Tibet显示文摘The>2000 km Indus-Yarlung Tsangpo suture zone(IYSZ)is composed of the Neo-tethys oceanic remnants,flysch units and related continental rocks,which has been regarded as the boundary between the Eurasian and Indian terranes.Among the ophiolitic complexes,the Purang ophiolite is the biggest massif in the IYSZ,and many studies have been conducted on this ophiolite.However,previous studies have mainly focused on harzburgite,clinopyroxenite and dunite.Field observations show that mafic dykes were emplaced within the Purang ophiolite.However,petrogenetic evolutions of those mafic dykes are poorly understood.In this study,we present new LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating results,whole-rock geochemistry and Sr-Nd-Hf isotope analyses for microgabbro,gabbro and dolerite dykes from the Purang ophiolite of the southwestern IYSZ,respectively.Three samples yielded zircon U-Pb ages of144.2±2.1 Ma.127.9±2.3 Ma and 126.5±0.42 Ma,suggesting two different phases of magmatic activities distinctly.Whole-rock geochemical results suggest that the gabbro samples show alkaline features marked by enrichments of light rare earth elements(LREE)and large-ion lithophile elements(LILE),as well as Nb-Ta elements,suggesting an oceanic island basalt-like(OIB-like)geochemical affinity.However,the dolerite and microgabbro samples demonstrate sub-alkaline characteristics with normal mid-oceanic ridge basalt-like(N-MORB-like)geochemical features.Three distinct mafic dykes show significant Rb element depletion.The geochemical data and Sr-Nd-Hf isotopic features suggest that the microgabbro and gabbro rocks were derived from a depleted mantle that had been metasomatized by partial melts of sediments and enriched slab-derived fluids.The dolerite was also originated from a depleted mantle marked by significantly depleted Sr-Nd-Hf compositions,which was not influenced by enriched slab-derived fluids and sediments contamination during subsequent evolution.The isotope and geochemical data and tectonic diagrams suggest a tectonic transition from a within-plate to a midoceanic ridge basalt-like(MORB-like)setting during the period from ca.144 Ma to 127 Ma.Combined with regional background and this study,we propose that these mafic dykes were formed in an oceanic back-arc basin setting.Additionally,integrated with previous studies,we suggest that the geodynamic evolution of the southwestern and central parts of the Neo-Tethys oceanic basin is comparable in Early Cretaceous. | Fahui Xiong Yuanku Meng Jingsui Yang Zhao Liu Xiangzhen Xu Alireza Eslami Ran Zhang | 2020 | Geoscience Frontiers2020,11,1: | 10 |
| 7 | miR-93-5p Transferred by Exosomes Promotes the Proliferation of Esophageal Cancer Cells via Intercellular Communication by Targeting PTEN显示文摘Objective To investigate the relationship between plasma miR-93-5p and the risk of esophageal cancer, as well as the influence of miR-93-5p on the biological function of esophageal cancer cells,exerted through exosomes.Methods The expression of plasma miR-93-5p in esophageal cancer patients and healthy controls was analysed by real-time quantitative PCR. The influence of miR-93-5p on the risk and prognosis of esophageal carcinoma was analyzed by conditional logistic regression and survival analysis. The effect of miR-93-5p on the biological function of recipient cells was investigated by establishing an in vitro donor cell co-culture model. | 11 | Novel Prognostic Models for Predicting the 180-day Outcome for Patients with Hepatitis-B Virus-related Acute-on-chronic Liver Failure显示文摘Background and Aims:It remains difficult to forecast the 180-day prognosis of patients with hepatitis B virus-acuteon-chronic liver failure(HBV-ACLF)using existing prognostic models.The present study aimed to derive novel-innovative models to enhance the predictive effectiveness of the 180-day mortality in HBV-ACLF.Methods:The present cohort study examined 171 HBV-ACLF patients(non-survivors,n=62;survivors,n=109).The 27 retrospectively collected parameters included the basic demographic characteristics,clinical comorbidities,and laboratory values.Backward stepwise logistic regression(LR)and the classification and regression tree(CART)analysis were used to derive two predictive models.Meanwhile,a nomogram was created based on the LR analysis.The accuracy of the LR and CART model was detected through the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC),compared with model of end-stage liver disease(MELD)scores.Results:Among 171 HBV-ACLF patients,the mean age was 45.17 years-old,and 11.7%of the patients were female.The LR model was constructed with six independent factors,which included age,total bilirubin,prothrombin activity,lymphocytes,monocytes and hepatic encephalopathy.The following seven variables were the prognostic factors for HBV-ACLF in the CART model:age,total bilirubin,prothrombin time,lymphocytes,neutrophils,monocytes,and blood urea nitrogen.The AUROC for the CART model(0.878)was similar to that for the LR model(0.878,p=0.898),and this exceeded that for the MELD scores(0.728,p<0.0001).Conclusions:The LR and CART model are both superior to the MELD scores in predicting the 180-day mortality of patients with HBV-ACLF.Both the LR and CART model can be used as medical decision-making tools by clinicians. | Ran Xue Jun Yang Jing Wu Zhongying Wang Qinghua Meng | 2021 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2021,9,4: | 8 |

| 13 | Optimization design of prestressed concrete wind-turbine tower显示文摘Wind energy is a clean and renewable energy for which technology has developed rapidly in recent years.Wind turbines are commonly supported on tubular steel towers.As the turbine size is growing and the towers are rising in height,steel towers are required to be sufficiently strong and stiff,consequently leading to high construction costs.To tackle this problem,a new type of prestressed concrete tower was designed employing a novel tower concept having a regular octagon cross section with interior ribs on each side,which was optimized by comparing the natural frequency and stress difference under the same lateral load in different directions of the tower.The designed tower features a tapered profile that reduces the area subjected to wind;the tapered profile reduces the total weight,applied moment and the capital cost.An optimization method was developed employing ABAQUS software and a genetic algorithm.A target function was defined on the basis of the minimum cost of the concrete and prestressed tendon used,and constraints were applied by accounting for the stress,displacements and natural frequency of the tower.Employing the method,a 100 m prestressed concrete tower system for a 5 MW turbine was optimized and designed under wind and earthquake loads.The paper also reports a systematic design procedure incorporating the finite element method and the optimization method for the prestressed concrete wind-turbine towers. | MA HongWang MENG Ran | 2014 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,2: | 6 |

It is based on the relationship between the peak-failure stress ratio and the normalized confining pressure as well as the relationship between the normalized peak-failure stress ratio and the exponent function of the intermediate principal stress ratio. This model can well predict the variations of the peak-failure stress ratio with the initial confining pressure and the intermediate principal stress ratio for different rockfill materials under different general stress paths. Comparisons of the measured and predicted results show that the peak-failure strength under the constant-p' and constant-b path is larger than that under the constant-σ'_3 and constant-b path. | 15 | Direct growth of ordered N-doped carbon nanotube arrays on carbon fiber cloth as a free-standing and binder-free air electrode for flexible quasi-solid-state rechargeable Zn-Air batteries显示文摘The development of an air electrode that is flexible in physical property and highly active and durable at different geometric status for both oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is of crucial importance for the rational design of flexible rechargeable Zn-air batteries(ZABs).Considering their good elasticity,high conductivity,and superior thermal and chemical stability,carbon nanotubes have been widely used as a catalyst support in various electrocatalysts,while oxide or metal nanoparticles have been frequently deposited on the carbon nanotube substrate to perform as the active materials.Considering the poor contact between active materials and carbon nanotubes may introduce a challenge for long-term operating stability,in particular in flexible devices,pure carbon electrocatalyst is highly appreciated.Herein,a free-standing air electrode with cobalt nanoparticles encapsulated N-codoped carbon nanotube arrays uniformly grown on the surface of carbon fiber cloth is developed by a two-step in situ growth method.Such a carbon-based electrode shows outstanding activity for both ORR and OER.The flexible ZAB with such air electrode shows superior flexibility and stability working under extreme bending conditions.Moreover,the polarization and round-trip efficiency for the flexible battery is 0.67 V and 64.4%at 2 mA/cm2,respectively,even after being operated for 30 hours.This study provides a feasible way to design all carbon-based free-standing and flexible electrode and enlightens the electrode design for flexible energy conversion/storage devices. | Qian Lu Xiaohong Zou Kaiming Liao Ran Ran Wei Zhou Meng Ni Zongping Shao | 2020 | Carbon Energy2020,2,3: | 6 |
| 16 | Hepatoma cell line HepG2.2.15 demonstrates distinct biological features compared with parental HepG2显示文摘AIM:To investigate the biological features of hepatitis B virus(HBV)-transfected HepG2.2.15 cells. METHODS:The cell ultrastructure,cell cycle and apoptosis,and the abilities of proliferation and invasion of HBV-transfected HepG2.2.15 and the parent HepG2 cells were examined by electron microscopy,flow cytometry, 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide and trans-well assay.Oncogenicity of the two cell lines was compared via subcutaneous injection and orthotopic injection or implantation in nude mice,and the pathological analysis of tumor formation was performed.Two cytoskeletal proteins were detected by Western blotting. RESULTS:Compared with HepG2 cells,HepG2.2.15 cells showed organelle degeneration and filopodia disappearance under electron microscope.HepG2.2.15 cells proliferated and migrated slowly in vitro,and hardly formed tumor and lung metastasis in nude mice.Flow cytometry showed that the majority of HepG2.2.15 cells were arrested in G1 phase,and apoptosis was minor in both cell lines.Furthermore,the levels of cytoskeletal proteins F-actin and Ezrin were decreased in HepG2.2.15 cells. | 18 | Effects of different biochars on antibiotic resistance genes during swine manure thermophilic composting显示文摘Elimination of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)in animal manure from concentrated animal feeding operations by thermophilic composting has drawn increasing attention.This study investigated the effects of sawdust biochar,corn stover biochar and peanut hull biochar with three spiked levels on ARGs in swine manure during thermophilic composting.Thirteen ARGs corresponding to four classes of antibiotics(tetracyclines,sulfonamides,macrolides and quinolones)were determined in the composting piles.Results indicated that the ten tested composting groups became fully mature after 30-day thermophilic composting process.tetM,tetO and ermB were reduced in all tested groups;tetC and tetG,tetX,sul1,sul2,ermF,qnrD and aac(6’)-Ib were mostly reduced under low level biochar addition but increased under higher level biochar addition;gyrA increased under medium biochar addition and reduced in other groups;oqxB remained comparatively stable throughout the composting process.The addition levels of spiked biochar are more important than types of spiked biochar on the removal of ARGs in the composting pile.The average removal rates of ARGs in the control group,low,medium and high level biochar addition groups were 0.24 logs,0.52-0.72 logs,-0.52-0.18 logs and-0.19-0.21 logs,respectively.In summary,low level biochar addition could enhance the elimination of studied ARGs in swine manure during the composting process,while medium level biochar addition to the composting piles would increase the risk of ARGs’propagation. | Jian Wang Bin Sui Yujun Shen Haibo Meng Lixin Zhao Haibin Zhou Ran Li Jingtao Ding Hongsheng Cheng Xi Zhang | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,6: | 5 |

| 20 | Methodology to Evaluate Fatigue Damage of High-Speed Train Welded Bogie Frames Based on On-Track Dynamic Stress Test Data显示文摘The current method of estimating the fatigue life of railway structures is to calculating the equivalent stress amplitude based on the measured stress data. However, the random of the measured data is not considered. In this paper, a new method was established to compute the equivalent stress amplitude to evaluate the fatigue damage based on the measurable randomness, since the equivalent stress is the key parameter for assessment of structure fatigue life and load derivation. The equivalent stress amplitude of a high-speed train welded bogie frame was found to obey normal distribution under uniform operation route that verified by on-track dynamic stress data, and the proposed model is, in effect, an improved version of the mathematical model used to calculate the equivalent stress amplitude. The data of a long-term, on-track dynamic stress test program was analyzed to find that the normal distribution parameters of equivalent stress amplitude values differ across different operation route. Thus, the fatigue damage of the high-speed train welded bogie frame can be evaluated by the proposed method if the running schedule of the train is known a priori.
