Process Study and Exergy Analysis of a Novel Air Separation Process Cooled by LNG Cold Energy显示文摘In order to resolve the problems of the current air separation process such as the complex process, cumbersome operation and high operating costs, a novel air separation process cooled by LNG cold energy is proposed in this paper, which is based on high-efficiency heat exchanger network and chemical packing separation technology. The operating temperature range of LNG cold energy is widened from 133K-203K to 113K-283K by highefficiency heat exchanger network and air separation pressure is declined from 0.5MPa to about 0.35MPa due to packing separation technology, thereby greatly improve the energy efficiency. Both the traditional and novel air separation processes are simulated with air handling capacity of 20t·h 1. Comparing with the traditional process, the LNG consumption is reduced by 44.2%, power consumption decrease is 211.5 kWh per hour, which means the annual benefit will be up to 1.218 million CNY. And the exergy efficiency is also improved by 42.5%. | XU Wendong DUAN Jiao MAO Wenjun | 2014 | Journal of Thermal Science2014,23,1: | 10

Large numbersLarge numbers of new bacterial taxa found by Yunnan Institute of Microbiology显示文摘Extreme environments, primeval forest, sea sediments and plants in China yielded members of a new suborder, Jiangellineae, a new family Sinobacteraceae, and 23 new genera of actinomycetes and other bacteria. Three suggestions were made for further discoveries of new actinomycetes. First, natural habitats such as old growth forests, and extreme environments, should be given sampling priority; second, culturing procedures need to be constantly improved to mimic natural habitats; third, less than 98.5% similarity of 16S rRNA sequence to that of a known species could be used as an indicator of a new species. | JIANG Yi CAO YanRu ZHAO LiXing TANG ShuKun WANG Yun LI WenJun XU Ping LOU Kai MAO PeiHong XU LiHua | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,8: | 5
Conferring receptors on recipient cells with extracellular vesicles for targeted drug delivery显示文摘Triple negative breast cancer(TNBC)is a heterogeneous subset of breast cancer characterized by its lack of estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2),which altogether prevents TNBC from being treated effectively. For many years, the treatment paradigms and overall survival of patients with TNBC have remained largely stagnant.Recent attempts to convert cold tumors to hot tumors by promoting antigen presentation have shown increased T cell infiltration and significantly induced immune responses for tumor killing.Inspired by this concept, the expression of specific targetable antigens on TNBC cells may further benefit relevant targeted drug delivery. In this study,we successfully conferred sufficient HER2 on the surface of TNBC MDA-MB-231 cells via simple EV-plasma membrane fusion with HER2+extracellular vesicles(EV)derived from HER2 overexpressing BT-474 cells.Subsequently,anti-HER2 antibody conjugated paclitaxel-loaded liposomes were used for HER2-targeted drug delivery. Our findings demonstrated this HER2 grafting,in conjunction with targeted drug delivery, can improve the treatment efficacy in vitro and in vivo. This novel approach represents a facile method of altering cell membrane antigen presentation via convenient EVs uptake and may pave the way for the burgeoning wave of targeted therapy and/or immunotherapy. | Zachary Quinn Wenjun Mao Yiqiu Xia Rhea John Yuan Wan | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,3: | 3

Weighted joint calibration for interferometric SAR显示文摘Calibration is a processing procedure for across-track interferometric synthetic aperture radar(InSAR) to achieve an accurate three-dimensional location. A calibration technique, called weighted joint calibration, for the generation of wide-area geocoded digital elevation models(DEMs) is proposed. It calibrates multiple InSAR scenes simultaneously, and allows reducing the number of required ground control points(GCPs) by using tie points(TPs). This approach may ensure the continuity of threedimensional location among adjacent scenes, which is necessary for mosaic and fusion of data coming from different scenes. In addition, it introduces weights to calibration to discriminate GCPs and TPs with different coherences and locations. This paper presents the principles and methodology of this weighted joint calibration technique and illustrates its successful application in airborne InSAR data. | Yongfei Mao Maosheng Xiang Yunzhong Han Wenjun Gao | 2013 | Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2013,24,5: | 1
Engineered extracellular vesicles for concurrent Anti-PDL1 immunotherapy and chemotherapy显示文摘Immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICI)targeting PD-1/PD-L1 have been approved for the treatment of a variety of cancers. However, the efficacy of antibody-based ICIs could be further improved by mitigating anti-drug antibodies, proteolytic cleavage, and on-target off-tumor toxicity. One strategy for accomplishing this is through the use of extracellular vesicles(EVs),cell derived submicron vesicles with many unique properties. We constructed an engineered MDA-MB-231 cell line for harvesting EVs.This was accomplished by overexpressing a high-affinity variant human PD-1 protein(havPD-1),while simultaneously knocking out intrinsic PD-L1 and beta-2 microglobulin. The engineered havPD-1 EVs reduced PD-L1 overexpressing cancer cell proliferation and induced cellular apoptosis. Moreover, the EVs were shown to efficiently block PD-L1 mediated T cell suppression.Meanwhile antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and complement-dependent cytotoxicity were not observed. The havPD-1 EVs treatment resulted in robust anti-tumor activity in both preventative co-implantation and therapeutic xenograft tumor models reconstituted with human T cells. The efficacy of the havPD-1 EVs was shown to be comparable to clinical anti-PD1 monoclonal antibodies.Additionally, loading the havPD-1 EVs with a potent PARP inhibitor was shown to further augment treatment efficacy. In brief, the engineered universal EVs harboring havPD-1 proteins can be used for cancer concurrent immunotherapy and chemotherapy. | Yundi Chen Lixue Wang Mingfeng Zheng Chuandong Zhu Guosheng Wang Yiqiu Xia Ethan J.Blumenthal Wenjun Mao Yuan Wan | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,3: | 1

Controllable growth and flexible optoelectronic devices of regularly-assembled Bi2S3 semiconductor nanowire bifurcated junctions and crosslinked networks显示文摘Regularly assembled structures of nanowires, such as aligned arrays, junctions and interconnected networks, have great potential for the applications in logical circuits, address decoders, photoelectronic devices and transparent electrodes. However, for now it is still lack of effective approaches for constructing nanowire bifurcated junctions and crosslinked networks with ordered orientations and high quality. Herein, we report the controlled growth of Bi2S3 semiconductor nanowire bifurcated junctions and crosslinked networks with well-aligned directions and high crystalline degree by utilizing the proportional lattice match between nanowires and substrates. Taking advantages of the “tip-to-stem splice” assembly of individual nanowires, the precise orientation alignments of Bi2S3 semiconductor nanowire bifurcated junctions and crosslinked networks were successfully realized. The controlled growth mechanism and structural evolution process have been elucidated by detailed atomic structure characterizations and modeling. The highly crystal quality and direct energy bandgap of as-assembled photodetectors based on individual bismuth sulfide nanowires enabled high photoresponsivity and fast switch time under light illumination. The three-terminal devices based on nanowire bifurcated junctions present rapid carrier transport across the junction. The flexible photodetectors based on nanowire crosslinked networks show very minimal decay of photocurrent after long-term bending test. This work may provide new insights for the guided construction and regular assembly of low-dimensional ordered functional nanostructures towards advanced nanotechnologies. | Yi Hu Lingyun Mao Xin Yuan Jingyu Lu Renpeng Chen Tao Chen Wenjun Zhang Xiaolan Xue Wen Yan Mohammadreza Shokouhimehr Xiao Li Zhang Zhong Jin | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,8: | 1
Low Ca diet leads to increased Ca retention by changing the gut flora and ileal pH value in laying hens显示文摘Osteoporosis is a common degenerative metabolic bone disease in caged laying hens.Intensive egg production mobilizing large amounts of Ca from bone for eggshell formation, consequently leading to Ca deficiency, has been recognized as a critical factor causing osteoporosis in commercial laying hens. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of Ca deficiency on the function of the gut microbiotaebone axis and related egg production traits and bone health in laying hens.Twenty-four 48-week-old laying hens were fed a control diet(Control,3.72%)or a low Ca diet(LC,2.04%)for 60 d(n=12).Compared to the Control hens, the LC hens had higher levels of alkaline phosphatase and tartrate resistant acid phosphatase(P<0.05)with lower bone strength, eggshell thickness, and eggshell strength(P<0.05).In addition, the LC hens had higher plasma estradiol concentrations, while having lower concentrations of interleukin-1(IL-1)and IL-6.The LC hens also had a lower pH value in the ileum with an increased Ca retention. The principal co-ordinates analysis showed significantly separate cecal microbiota populations between the Control and LC hens. The Prevotellaceae_UCG-001,Subdoligranulum,Peptococcus,and Eubacterium_hallii_group(P<0.05)were higher, while the CHKC1001 and Sutterella(P<0.05)were lower at the genus level in the LC hens.In addition,Prevotellaceae_UCG-001,Subdoligranulum and Eubacter-ium_hallii_group had a negative correlation, while Sutterella was positively correlated with ileal pH values. The transcriptome analysis revealed that the low Ca diet caused 20 and 31 genes to be signifi-cantly up-and down-regulated,respectively.The gene expressions of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator, solute carrier family 26 member 3 of the anion exchangers, and mitogen-activated protein kinase 12 of pro-inflammatory factors were lower in the LC birds, which was corre-lated with the lower ileal pH values. These results suggest that the hens with low Ca diet-induced osteoporosis have an increased intestinal Ca retention with a decreased ileal pH value, correlated with the changes in Prevotellaceae_UCG-001,Subdoligranulum,and Eubacterium_hallii_group of beneficial genera. The results provide insights for further understanding and preventing osteoporosis in laying hens. | Sha Jiang Xinyu Zou Miao Mao Mi Zhang Wenjun Tu Meilan Jin | 2023 | Animal Nutrition2023,,2: | 1
Small extracellular vesicles in cancer显示文摘Extracellular vesicles(EV)are lipid-bilayer enclosed vesicles in submicron size that are released from cells.A variety of molecules, including proteins,DNA fragments,RNAs,lipids, and metabolites can be selectively encapsulated into EVs and delivered to nearby and distant recipient cells. In tumors, through such intercellular communication,EVs can regulate initiation, growth, metastasis and invasion of tumors.Recent studies have found that EVs exhibit specific expression patterns which mimic the parental cell, providing a fingerprint for early cancer diagnosis and prognosis as well as monitoring responses to treatment.Accordingly, various EV isolation and detection technologies have been developed for research and diagnostic purposes. Moreover, natural and engineered EVs have also been used as drug delivery nanocarriers, cancer vaccines, cell surface modulators, therapeutic agents and therapeutic targets.Overall,EVs are under intense investigation as they hold promise for pathophysiological and translational discoveries. This comprehensive review examines the latest EV research trends over the last five years, encompassing their roles in cancer pathophysiology, diagnostics and therapeutics. This review aims to examine the full spectrum of tumor-EV studies and provide a comprehensive foundation to enhance the field. The topics which are discussed and scrutinized in this review encompass isolation techniques and how these issues need to be overcome for EV-based diagnostics,EVs and their roles in cancer biology, biomarkers for diagnosis and monitoring,EVs as vaccines, therapeutic targets, and EVs as drug delivery systems. We will also examine the challenges involved in EV research and promote a framework for catalyzing scientific discovery and innovation for tumor-EV-focused research. | Komal Abhange Amy Makler Yi Wen Natasha Ramnauth Wenjun Mao Waseem Asghar Yuan Wan | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,11: | 1

BSA stabilized photothermal-fenton reactor with cisplatin for chemo/chemodynamic cascade oncotherapy显示文摘Cisplatin(CDDP)-based chemotherapy is substantially limited in the clinic due to its high postoperative recurrence rate.Synergy therapy has been proven as a potent approach to minimize recurrence and achieve enhanced treatment effects.Herein, chemotherapy drug CDDP is assembled with the photothermal-Fenton agent of bovine serum albumin(BSA)stabilized gallic acid-functionalized iron nanoparticles(GA-Fe NPs)to achieve chemo/chemodynamic synergistic cascade oncotherapy. The Pt-GA-Fe NPs can be utilized to generate H_(2)O_(2) via the activation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate(NADPH)oxidases(NOXs)in the tumor microenvironment(TME),which would then greatly boost H2O2-depending chemodynamic therapy(CDT).The generated cytotoxic reactive oxygen species(hydroxyl radicals,·OH)and the depletion of glutathione(GSH)would further promote CDDP-induced DNA damage. Moreover, benefiting from the absorption in the near-infrared(NIR)region,Pt-GA-Fe NPs exhibit excellent photothermal conversion efficiency(η=45.5%)and allow photoacoustic imaging(PAI)guided photothermal therapy(PTT).In vitro and in vivo experiments show that synergy therapy can effectively kill cancer cells and successfully cure cancer without systemic toxicity. The work highlights a new type of therapeutic agent based on CDDP with the ability of H_(2)O_(2) self-generation,thermal responsiveness, and enhanced CDT effects for applications in cancer therapy. | Nan Yang Tian Zhang Changyu Cao Genxiang Mao Jinjun Shao Xuejiao Song Wenjun Wang Xiaozhou Mou Xiaochen Dong | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,3: | 0
Crystallography of low Z material at ultrahigh pressure:Case study on solid hydrogen显示文摘Diamond anvil cell techniques have been improved to allow access to the multimegabar ultrahigh-pressure region for exploring novel phenomena in condensedmatter. However, the onlyway to determine crystal structures of materials above 100 GPa,namely,X-ray diffraction(XRD),especially for lowZ materials, remains nontrivial in the ultrahigh-pressure region, even with the availability of brilliant synchrotron X-ray sources. In thiswork,we performa systematic study, choosing hydrogen(the lowest X-ray scatterer)as the subject,to understand how to better perform XRD measurements of low Z materials at multimegabar pressures. The techniques that we have developed have been proved to be effective in measuring the crystal structure of solid hydrogen up to 254GPa at room temperature[C.Ji et al.,Nature 573,558–562(2019)].Wepresent our discoveries and experienceswith regard to several aspects of thiswork, namely, diamond anvil selection, sample configuration for ultrahigh-pressure XRDstudies,XRDdiagnostics for low Z materials, and related issues in data interpretation and pressure calibration.Webelieve that these methods can be readily extended to other low Z materials and can pave the way for studying the crystal structure of hydrogen at higher pressures, eventually testing structural models of metallic hydrogen. | Cheng Ji Bing Li Wenjun Liu Jesse S.Smith Alexander Bjoorling Arnab Majumdar Wei Luo Rajeev Ahuja Jinfu Shu Junyue Wang Stanislav Sinogeikin Yue Meng Vitali B.Prakapenka Eran Greenberg Ruqing Xu Xianrong Huang Yang Ding Alexander Soldatov Wenge Yang Guoyin Shen Wendy L.Mao Ho-Kwang Mao | 2020 | Matter and Radiation at Extremes2020,5,3: | 0
Chemical Characteristics and Anticoagulant Activities of Two Sulfated Polysaccharides from Enteromorpha linza (Chlorophyta)显示文摘Two sulfated polysaccharides, designated MP and SP, were extracted from the marine green alga Enteromorpha linza using hot water and then purified using ion-exchange and size-exclusion chromatography. The anticoagulant activities of MP and SP were examined by determination of their activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), thrombin time (TT) and prothrombin time (PT) using human plasma. Results showed that MP and SP were composed of abundant rhamnose with small amounts of xylose and glucuronic acid, whereas SP also contained a small amount of galactose. Approximate molecular weights of MP and SP were 535 and 502 kDa, respectively. As compared with SP, MP had higher contents of sulfate ester (19.0%) and uronic acid (14.9%). The MP mainly consisted of (1→4)-linked rhamnose residues with partially sulfated groups at the C-3 position, and small amounts of (1→3, 4)-linked rhamnose, (1→2, 4)-linked rhamnose, (1→4)-linked glucuronic acid and (1→4)-linked xylose residues. The SP contained abundant (1→4)-linked rhamnose with minor amounts of (1→3)-linked rhamnose, (1→3, 4)-linked rhamnose, (1→2, 4)-linked rhamnose, (1→4)-linked glucuronic acid, (1→4)-linked xylose, and (1→3)-linked galactose residues. The sulfate groups were mainly located at C-3 of (1→4)-linked rhamnose residues. Both MP and SP, in particular the former, effectively prolonged APTT and TT. This work demonstrates that MP and SP have unique structural characteristics distinct from those of other sulfated polysaccharides from Enteromorpha. The MP is a potential source of anticoagulant, and the difference in anticoagulant activities of the two sulfated polysaccharides is directly linked to the discrepancy of their chemical features. | QI Xiaohui MAO Wenjun CHEN Yin CHEN Yanli ZHAO Chunqi LI Na WANG Chunyan | 2013 | Journal of Ocean University of China2013,12,1: | 0
Dual Radial-Resonant Wide Beamwidth Circular Sector Microstrip Patch Antennas显示文摘In this article,a design approach to a radial-resonant wide beamwidth circular sector patch antenna is advanced. As properly evolved from a U-shaped dipole,a prototype magnetic dipole can be fit in the radial direction of a circular sector patch radiator, with its length set as the positive odd-integer multiples of one-quarter wavelength. In this way, multiple TM0m(m=1,2,...)modes resonant circular sector patch antenna with short-circuited circumference and widened E-plane beamwidth can be realized by proper excitation and perturbations.Prototype antennas are then designed and fabricated to validate the design approach.Experimental results reveal that the E-plane beamwidth of a dual-resonant antenna fabricated on air/Teflon substrate can be effectively broadened to 128°/120°,with an impedance bandwidth of 17.4%/7.1%,respectively.In both cases, the antenna heights are strictly limited to no more than 0.03-guided wavelength. It is evidently validated that the proposed approach can effectively enhance the operational bandwidth and beamwidth of a microstrip patch antenna while maintaining its inherent low profile merit. | MAO Xiaohui LU Wenjun JI Feiyan XING Xiuqiong ZHU Lei | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Electronics2023,32,4: | 0
