1Inflammatory status in chronic renal failure: The role of homocysteinemia and pro-inflammatory cytokines显示文摘AIM: To evaluate determinants of inflammatory markers in chronic renal failure patients according to the level of glomerular filtration rate. METHODS: One hundred fifty four patients(Age; 44 ± 06 years, male/female; 66/88) with chronic renal failure(CRF) were divided into 6 groups according to the National Kidney Foundation(NKF) classification. They included 28 primary stage renal failure patients(CRF 1), 28 moderate stage renal failure patients(CRF 2),28 severe stage renal failure patients(CRF 3), 18 endstage renal failure patients(CRF 4), 40 hemodialysis(HD) patients, and 12 peritoneal dialysis(PD) patients. Tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-1β(IL-1β), interleukin-6(IL-6) and C-reactive protein(CRP) were analyzed by immunosorbent assay kit(ELISA)(Cayman Chemical's ACETM EIA kit). Immunoassay methods were used for total homocysteine(tH cy)(fluorescence polarization immunoanalysis HPLC, Perkin Emer 200 series), transferrin(MININEPHTM human transferin kit: ZK070.R), ferritin(ADVIA Centaur) and fibrinogen analysis(ACL 200). Differences between groups were performed using SPSS 20.0 and data are expressed as the mean ± SD.RESULTS: Results showed that in comparison with CRF 1 group and other groups, TNF-α and IL-6 levels were respectively more elevated in HD(16.38 ± 5.52 pg/mL vs 0.39 ± 0.03 pg/mL, 11.05 ± 3.59 pg/mL vs 8.20 ± 0.22 pg/mL, P < 0.001) and PD(14.04 ± 3.40 pg/m L vs 0.39 ± 0.03 pg/m L, 10.15 ± 1.66 pg/m L vs 8.20 ± 0.22 pg/m L, P < 0.001). IL-1β levels were increased in HD(9.63 ± 3.50 pg/m L vs 3.24 ± 0.10 pg/mL, P < 0.001) and CRF 4(7.76 ± 0.66 pg/mL vs 3.24 ± 0.10 pg/m L, P < 0.001) patients than in CRF 1 and in the other groups. Plasma t Hcy levels were higher in HD(32.27 ± 12.08 μmol/L) and PD(28.37 ± 4.98 μmol/L) patients compared to the other groups of CRF(P < 0.001). The serum CRP level was significantly increased in HD(18.17 ± 6.38 mg/L) and PD(17.97 ± 4.85 mg/L) patients compared to the other groups of CRF patients(P < 0.001). The plasma fibrinogen level was more elevated in HD(6.86 ± 1.06 g/L) and CRF 4(6.05 ± 0.57 g/L) than in the other groups(P < 0.001). Furthermore; the ferritin level was higher in HD(169.90 ± 62.16 ng/m L) and PD(90.08 ± 22.09 ng/m L) patients compared to the other groups of CRF(P < 0.001). The serum transferrin value was significantly decreased especially in PD(1.78 ± 0.21 g/L) compared to the other groups(P < 0.001). We found a negative correlationbetween glomerular filtration rate(GFR), TNF-α levels(r =-0.75, P < 0.001), and t Hcy levels(r =-0.68, P < 0.001). We observed a positive correlation between GFR and transferrin levels(r = 0.60, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: CRF was associated with elevated inflammatory markers. 3Distributed fuzzy fault-tolerant consensus of leader-follower multi-agent systems with mismatched uncertainties显示文摘In this paper,the distributed fuzzy fault-tolerant tracking consensus problem of leader-follower multi-agent systems(MASs)is studied.The objective system includes actuator faults,mismatched parameter uncertainties,nonlinear functions,and exogenous disturbances under switching communication topologies.To solve this problem,a distributed fuzzy fault-tolerant controller is proposed for each follower by adaptive mechanisms to track the state of the leader.Furthermore,the fuzzy logic system is utilized to approximate the unknown nonlinear dynamics.An error estimator is introduced between the mismatched parameter matrix and the input matrix.Then,a selective adaptive law with relative state information is adopted and applied.When calculating the Lyapunov function’s derivative,the coupling terms related to consensus error and mismatched parameter uncertainties can be eliminated.Finally,a numerical simulation is given to validate the effectiveness of the proposed protocol.MALIKA Sader WANG Fuyong LIU Zhongxin CHEN Zengqiang 2021Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2021,32,5:4
4Optimization and mechanisms analysis of indigo dye removal using continuous electrocoagulation显示文摘Electrocoagulation(EC) is among the most effective techniques that remove color and decontaminate effluent.Coagulants are delivered in situ by anode corrosion.In this research,indigo dye removal using iron electrodes in continuous electrocoagulation process and the responsible species for decolorization were investigated.The Response Surface Methodology(RSM) was used to optimize the process parameters.The finding in this study shows that at fixed conductivity at 15,000 μS·cm^(-1) the neutral conditions(pH from 6 to 8),the low absorbance,the low flow rate and the high voltage level enhance the color removal efficiency.The high R~2 value of 97.8% and ANOVA analyses show a good correlation between the experimental and predicted results.Under the optimum conditions,which are pH of 7.5, solution concentration of 60 mg·L^(-1), inlet flow rate of 2 L·min^(-1) and voltage of 47 V, the predicted decolorization of 94.083% was achieved at 93.972% with a total cost of 0.0927 USD·m^(-3) of treated effluent.At the optimum pH(7.5),the zeta potential value(-4 mV) of the effluent during EC match with the one of iron Ⅲ hydroxide.The dye removal is ensured thanks to physical adsorption and flocculation.The results exposed in this work prove that the continuous electrocoagulation process could be successfully used for indigo dye removal at industrial scale.Kamel Hendaoui Malika Trabelsi-Ayadi Fadhila Ayari 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,1:2

19Improvement of groundwater resources potential by artificial recharge technique: A case study of Charf El Akab aquifer in the Tangier region, Morocco显示文摘In arid and semi-arid zones,water is the most vulnerable resource to climate change.In fact,various techniques such as artificial recharge are adopted to restore aquifers and to ensure aquifer sustainability in relation to the accelerated pace of exploitation.Morocco is a Mediterranean country highly vulnerable to climate change,many of its main aquifers are subjected to excessive drawdowns.This technique is practiced to increase potentiality of these aquifers.In the Northwestern area of Morocco,the significant development experienced by Tangier City in the industrial,tourism,and commercial sectors will lead to increased water requirements-up to 5 067 L/s(159.8 mm^3)by 2030.However,the Charf El Akab aquifer system,subject to artificial recharge,is the only groundwater resource of Tangier region;hence,a rational management context is needed to ensure aquifer sustainability,and optimized exploitation under the background of differing constraints,such as increased water requirements,and climate change impacts.This work aims to respond,for the first time,to the Charf El Akab aquifer overexploitation problem,and to evaluate the future scenarios of its exploitation in the event of failure of one of the superficial resources.This work also presents a synthesized hydrodynamic modeling based on the results of the numerical simulations carried out using Feflow software for 2004(date of cessation of injections)and 2011(date of resumption of these facilities),making it possible to evaluate the impact of the artificial recharge on the piezometric level of the aquifer on a spatiotemporal scale.Finally,the exploitation scenarios have shown that the aquifer of Charf El Akab will not adequatly provide for the region's water requirements on the future horizon,entailing an optimal management of water resources in the region and an intentionally increased recharge rate.SADIKI Moulay Lhassan EL MANSOURI Bouabid BENSEDDIK Badr CHAO Jamal KILI Malika EL MEZOUARY Lhoussaine 2019Journal of Groundwater Science and Engineering2019,7,3:1
