1Relationship between Th17 immune response and cancer显示文摘Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide and epidemiological projections predict growing cancer mortality rates in the next decades.Cancer has a close relationship with the immune system and,although Th17 cells are known to play roles in the immune response against microorganisms and in autoimmunity,studies have emphasized their roles in cancer pathogenesis.The Th17 immune response profile is involved in several types of cancer including urogenital,respiratory,gastrointestinal,and skin cancers.This type of immune response exerts pro and antitumor functions through several mechanisms,depending on the context of each tumor,including the protumor angiogenesis and exhaustion of T cells and the antitumor recruitment of T cells and neutrophils to the tumor microenvironment.Among other factors,the paradoxical behavior of Th17 cells in this setting has been attributed to its plasticity potential,which makes possible their conversion into other types of T cells such as Th17/Treg and Th17/Th1 cells.Interleukin(IL)-17 stands out among Th17-related cytokines since it modulates pathways and interacts with other cell profiles in the tumor microenvironment,which allow Th17 cells to prevail in tumors.Moreover,the IL-17 is able to mediate pro and antitumor processes that influence the development and progression of various cancers,being associated with variable clinical outcomes.The understanding of the relationship between the Th17 immune response and cancer as well as the singularities of carcinogenic processes in each type of tumor is crucial for the identification of new therapeutic targets.Hanna Santos Marques Breno Bittencourt de Brito Filipe Antônio França da Silva Maria Luísa Cordeiro Santos Júlio César Braga de Souza Thiago Macêdo Lopes Correia Luana Weber Lopes Nayara Silva de Macêdo Neres Rafael Santos Dantas Miranda Dórea Anna Carolina Saúde Dantas Lorena Lôbo Brito Morbeck Iasmin Souza Lima Amanda Alves de Almeida Maiara Raulina de Jesus Dias Fabrício Freire de Melo 2021World Journal of Clinical Oncology2021,12,10:5
2Hepatic flow is an intraoperative predictor of early allograft dysfunction in whole-graft deceased donor liver transplantation: An observational cohort study显示文摘BACKGROUND Early allograft dysfunction(EAD)after liver transplantation(LT)is an important cause of morbidity and mortality.To ensure adequate graft function,a critical hepatocellular mass is required in addition to an appropriate blood supply.We hypothesized that intraoperative measurement of portal venous and hepatic arterial flow may serve as a predictor in the diagnosis of EAD.AIM To study whether hepatic flow is an independent predictor of EAD following LT.METHODS This is an observational cohort study in a single institution.Hepatic arterial blood flow and portal venous blood flow were measured intraoperatively by transit flow.EAD was defined using the Olthoff criteria.Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to determine the intraoperative predictors of EAD.Survival analysis and prognostic factor analysis were performed using the Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression models.RESULTS A total of 195 liver transplant procedures were performed between January 2008 and December 2014 in 188 patients.A total of 54(27.7%)patients developed EAD.The median follow-up was 39 mo.Portal venous flow,hepatic arterial flow(HAF)and total hepatic arterial flow were associated with EAD in both the univariate and multivariate analyses.HAF is an independent prognostic factor for 30-d patient mortality.CONCLUSION Intraoperative measurement of blood flow after reperfusion appears to be a predictor of EAD;Moreover,HAF should be considered a predictor of 30-d patient mortality.Pablo Lozano Lominchar Maitane Igone Orue-Echebarria Lorena Martín Cristina Julia Lisbona María Magdalena Salcedo Luis Olmedilla Hemant Sharma Jose Manuel Asencio JoséAngel López-Baena 2019World Journal of Hepatology2019,11,9:4

13Bacterial extracts and bioformulates as a promising control of fruit body rot and root rot in avocado cv. Hass显示文摘At least 20-40% of annual losses of avocado crops are caused by pathogenic fungi.The chemical treatments of these diseases are inefficient,cause environmental pollution and are increasingly restricted by international laws.This work aimed to assess the biocontrol capacity of a bacterial extract to protect avocado fruits and plants from pathogen infections.Extracts from the bacterial isolate Serratia sp.ARP5.1 were obtained from liquid fermentations in a biorreactor.A body rot postharvest infection model with Colletotrichum gloeosporioides on fruits was developed.Moreover,packaging conditions were simulated using the bacterial extract and the commercial fungicide prochloraz as a positive control.Additionally,seedlings infections with Phytophthora cinnamomi were performed on two types of avocado(West Indian race and cv.Hass).The Area Under Disease Progress Curve(AUDPC) was recorded using the bacterial extract and a commercial product with fosetyl-aluminium as treatments.The bacterial extract significantly reduced infections by C.gloeosporioides on injured avocado fruits at 31.1 μg mL^-1.Intact fruits were also protected against body rot infections at the same concentration and showed no significant differences with the commercial fungicide.On the other hand,AUDPC in the seedlings was significantly reduced with the extract treatment at 3 μg mL^-1 compared to the control.However,a possible phytotoxicity effect of the extract was evidenced in the seedlings and confirmed by pathogen recovery and tests on Raphanus sativus seedlings.Finally,formulations of the extracts(emulsion and emulsifiable concentrate) were prepared,and bioactive stability was assessed for 8 wk.The emulsion formulates demonstrated very stable bioactivity against P.cinnamomi.The extract and the emulsion formulate showed promising results for the control of avocado pathogens.New bioproducts based on this type of active principles could be developed for the benefit of avocado industry.David GRANADA Lorena LÓPEZ-LUJAN Sara RAMIREZ-RESTREPO Juan MORALES Carlos PELÁEZ-JARAMILLO Galdino ANDRADE Juan Carlos BEDOYA-PEREZ 2020Journal of Integrative Agriculture2020,19,3:1
