| 1 | Prediction of genetic value for sweet cherry fruit maturity among environments using a 6K SNP array显示文摘The timing of fruit maturity is an important trait in sweet cherry production and breeding.Phenotypic variation for phenology of fruit maturity in sweet cherry appears to be under strong genetic control,but that control might be complicated by phenotypic instability across environments.Although such genotype-by-environment interaction(G×E)is a common phenomenon in crop plants,knowledge about it is lacking for fruit maturity timing and other sweet cherry traits.In this study,1673 genome-wide SNP markers were used to estimate genomic relationships among 597 weakly pedigree-connected individuals evaluated over two seasons at three locations in Europe and one location in the USA,thus sampling eight‘environments’.The combined dataset enabled a single meta-analysis to investigate the environmental stability of genomic predictions.Linkage disequilibrium among marker loci declined rapidly with physical distance,and ordination of the relationship matrix suggested no strong structure among germplasm.The most parsimonious G×E model allowed heterogeneous genetic variance and pairwise covariances among environments.Narrow-sense genomic heritability was very high(0.60–0.83),as was accuracy of predicted breeding values(>0.62).Average correlation of additive effects among environments was high(0.96)and breeding values were highly correlated across locations.Results indicated that genomic models can be used in cherry to accurately predict date of fruit maturity for untested individuals in new environments.Limited G×E for this trait indicated that phenotypes of individuals will be stable across similar environments.Equivalent analyses for other sweet cherry traits,for which multiple years of data are commonly available among breeders and cultivar testers,would be informative for predicting performance of elite selections and cultivars in new environments. | Craig M.Hardner Ben J.Hayes Satish Kumar Stijn Vanderzande Lichun Cai Julia Piaskowski JoséQuero-Garcia JoséAntonio Campoy Teresa Barreneche Daniela Giovannini Alessandro Liverani Gérard Charlot Miguel Villamil-Castro Nnadozie Oraguzie Cameron P.Peace | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 5 |
| 2 | How to predict clinical relapse in inflammatory boweldisease patients显示文摘Inflammatory bowel diseases have a natural course characterized by alternating periods of remission and relapse. Disease flares occur in a random way and are currently unpredictable for the most part. Predictors of benign or unfavourable clinical course are required to facilitate treatment decisions and to avoid overtreatment. The present article provides a literature review of the current evidence on the main clinical, genetic, endoscopic, histologic, serologic and fecal markers to predict aggressiveness of inflammatory bowel disease and discuss their prognostic role, both in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. No single marker seems to be reliable alone as a flare predictor, even in light of promising evidence regarding the role of fecal markers, in particular fecal calprotectin, which has reported good results recently. In order to improve our daily clinical practice, validated prognostic scores should be elaborated, integrating clinical and biological markers of prognosis. | 4 | Multifunctional zinc ion doped sol-gel derived mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles for biomedical applications显示文摘Mesoporous bioactive glasses have been widely investigated for applications in bone tissue regeneration and,more recently,in soft tissue repair and wound healing.In this study we produced mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles(MBGNs)based on the SiO2-CaO system.With the intention of adding subsidiary biological function,MBGNs were doped with Zn2+ions.Zn-MBGNs with 8 mol%ZnO content were synthesized via microemulsion assisted sol-gel method.The synthesized particles were homogeneous in shape and size.They exhibited spherical shape,good dispersity,and a size of 130±10 nm.The addition of zinc precursors did not affect the morphology of particles,while their specific surface area increased in comparison to MBGNs.The presence of Zn2+ions inhibited the formation of hydroxycarbonate apatite(HCAp)on the particles after immersion in simulated body fluid(SBF).No formation of HCAp crystals on the surface of Zn-MBGNs could be observed after 14 days of immersion.Interestingly,powders containing relatively high amount of zinc released Zn2+ions in low concentration(0.6-1.2 mg L^−1)but in a sustained manner.This releasing feature enables Zn-MBGNs to avoid potentially toxic levels of Zn2+ions,indeed Zn-MBGNs were seen to improve the differentiation of osteoblast-like cells(MG-63).Additionally,Zn-MBGNs showed higher ability to adsorb proteins in comparison to MBGNs,which could indicate a favourable later attachment of cells.Due to their advantageous morphological and physiochemical properties,Zn-MBGNs show great potential as bioactive fillers or drug delivery systems in a variety of applications including bone regeneration and wound healing. | Zuzana Neščáková Kai Zheng Liliana Liverani Qaisar Nawaz Dagmar Galusková Hana Kaňková Martin Michálek Dušan Galusek Aldo R.Boccaccini | 2019 | Bioactive Materials2019,4,1: | 3 |
