1Biomaterial-based strategies for maxillofacial tumour therapy and bone defect regeneration显示文摘Issues caused by maxillofacial tumours involve not only dealing with tumours but also repairing jaw bone defects.In traditional tumour therapy,the systemic toxicity of chemotherapeutic drugs,invasive surgical resection,intractable tumour recurrence,and metastasis are major threats to the patients’lives in the clinic.Fortunately,biomaterial-based intervention can improve the efficiency of tumour treatment and decrease the possibility of recurrence and metastasis,suggesting new promising antitumour therapies.In addition,maxillofacial bone tissue defects caused by tumours and their treatment can negatively affect the physiological and psychological health of patients,and investment in treatment can result in a multitude of burdens to society.Biomaterials are promising options because they have good biocompatibility and bioactive properties for stimulation of bone regeneration.More interestingly,an integrated material regimen that combines tumour therapy with bone repair is a promising treatment option.Herein,we summarized traditional and biomaterial-mediated maxillofacial tumour treatments and analysed biomaterials for bone defect repair.Furthermore,we proposed a promising and superior design of dual-functional biomaterials for simultaneous tumour therapy and bone regeneration to provide a new strategy for managing maxillofacial tumours and improve the quality of life of patients in the future.Bowen Tan Quan Tang Yongjin Zhong Yali Wei Linfeng He Yanting Wu Jiabao Wu Jinfeng Liao 2021International Journal of Oral Science2021,13,1:9
2Internal structures and high-velocity frictional properties of Longmenshan fault zone at Shenxigou activated during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘This paper reports internal structures of a wide fault zone at Shenxigou,Dujiangyan,Sichuan province,China,and high-velocity frictional properties of the fault gouge collected near the coseismic slip zone during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.Vertical offset and horizontal displacement at the trench site were 2.8 m(NW side up)and 4.8 m(right-lateral),respectively.The fault zone formed in Triassic sandstone,siltstone,and shale about 500 m away from the Yingxiu-Beichuan fault,a major fault in the Longmenshan fault system.A trench survey across the coseismic fault,and observations of outcrops and drill cores down to a depth of 57 m revealed that the fault zone consists of fault gouge and fault breccia of about0.5 and 250–300 m in widths,respectively,and that the fault strikes N62°E and dips 68° to NW.Quaternary conglomerates were recovered beneath the fault in the drilling,so that the fault moved at least 55 m along the coseismic slip zone,experiencing about 18 events of similar sizes.The fault core is composed of grayish gouge(GG) and blackish gouge(BG) with very complex slip-zone structures.BG contains low-crystalline graphite of about 30 %.High-velocity friction experiments were conducted at normal stresses of 0.6–2.1 MPa and slip rates of 0.1–2.1 m/s.Both GG and BG exhibit dramatic slip weakening at constant high slip rates that can be described as an exponential decay from peak friction coefficient lpto steadystate friction coefficient lssover a slip-weakening distance Dc.Deformation of GG and BG is characterized by overlapped slip-zone structures and development of sharp slickenside surfaces,respectively.Comparison of our data with those reported for other outcrops indicates that the high-velocity frictional properties of the Longmenshan fault zones are quite uniform and the high-velocity weakening must have promoted dynamic rupture propagation during the Wenchuan earthquake.Yu Wang Shengli Ma Toshihiko Shimamoto Lu Yao Jianye Chen Xiaosong Yang Honglin He Jiaxiang Dang Linfeng Hou Tetsuhiro Togo 2014Earthquake Science2014,27,5:3
3Designing heterostructured FeP–CoP for oxygen evolution reaction:Interface engineering to enhance electrocatalytic performance显示文摘It is significant to develop highly efficient electrocatalysts for energy conversion systems.Interface engineering is one of the most feasible approaches to effectively enhance the electrocatalytic activity.Herein,the density functional theory(DFT)calculations predict that the potential barriers of Fe sites at the interface of FeP–CoP heterostructures are lower than that of Fe sites in FeP nanoparticles(NPs),Co sites in CoP NPs,or Co sites in heterostructures.Motivated by the DFT calculation results,FeP–CoP heterostructures have been designed and synthesized by a metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)confined-phosphorization method.The FeP–CoP exhibits the lowest overpotential of 230 mV at the current density of 10 mA·cm^(−2)for oxygen evolution reaction(OER),compared with FeP(470 mV)and CoP(340 mV),which outperforms most of transition metal-based catalysts.The Tafel analysis of FeP–CoP heterostructures shows an improved reaction kinetic pathway with the smallest slope of 90.3 mV·dec^(−1),as compared to the Tafel slopes of FeP NPs(137 mV·dec^(−1))and CoP NPs(114 mV·dec^(−1)).And the FeP–CoP shows extraordinary long-term stability over 24 h.The excellent activity and long-term stability of FeP–CoP derive from the synergistic effect between FeP and CoP.Shuang Hou Ansai Zhang Qi Zhou Yingjie Wen Sixie Zhang Linfeng Su Xinjie Huang Tian Wang Kun Rui Cheng Wang Huiling Liu Zhiyi Lu Peilei He 2023Nano Research2023,16,5:2

5An adsorption study of^99Tc using nanoscale zero-valent iron supported on D001 resin显示文摘Nanoscale zero-valent iron(nZVI)supported on D001 resin(D001-nZVI)was synthesized for adsorption of high solubility and mobility radionuclide^99Tc.Re(VII),a chemical substitute for^99Tc,was utilized in batch experiments to investigate the feasibility and adsorption mechanism toward Tc(VII).Factors(pH,resin dose)affecting Re(VII)adsorption were studied.The high adsorption efficiency of Re(VII)at pH=3 and the solid-liquid ratio of 20 g/L.X-ray diffraction patterns revealed the reduction of ReO^?4 into ReO2 immobilized in D001-nZVI.Based on the optimum conditions of Re(VII)adsorption,the removal experiments of Tc(VII)were conducted where the adsorption efficiency of Tc(VII)can reach 94%.Column experiments showed that the Thomas model gave a good fit to the adsorption process of Re(VII)and the maximum dynamic adsorption capacity was 0.2910 mg/g.Lingxiao FU Jianhua ZU Linfeng HE Enxi GU Huan WANG 2020Frontiers in Energy2020,14,1:1
6Characteristics of low altitude ionospheric electric field over Hainan Island,China显示文摘A sounding rocket experiment undertaken by the Chinese Meridian Project from a low latitude station on Hainan Island(19.5°N,109.1°E),China,measured the DC electric field during 05:45-05:52 LT on April 5,2013.The data observed using a set of electric field double probes,as part of the rocket's scientific payload,revealed the special profile of how the vectors of the DC electric field vary with altitude between 130 and 190 km.During the experiment,the vertical electric field was downward,and the maximum vertical electric field was nearly 5.1 mV/m near the altitude of 176 km.The zonal electric field was eastward and slightly less than 0.6 mV/m.The plasma drift velocity was estimated from the E×B motion,and the zonal drift velocity was eastward and of the order of 100 m/s.The zonal wind velocity was also estimated using the drift velocity near the maximum density height in the F1-region,and it was found to be nearly 120 m/s.This work constituted the first in situ measurement of the DC electric field conducted within the Fl-region(between 130 and 190 km) in the East Asian Sector.LI RenKang CHEN Tao MAN Feng JIANG XiuJie LUO Jing HE ZhaoHai ZHANG HuiMing WANG LinFeng LIU Cheng Francisco Carlos de MENESES WANG GuoJun XU JiYao 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,4:1
7An Optimal Charging/Discharging Strategy for Smart Electrical Car Parks显示文摘This paper presents a smart electrical car park model where the power flows among electrical vehicles(EVs)as well as between EVs and the main grid.Based on this model,an optimal charging/discharging scheme is proposed.The fluctuation of hourly electricity rates is considered in this strategy to select a proper charging/discharging rate for each EV with less expenditure during each charging period.The proposed smart electrical car park is able to buy or sell electricity in the form of active and/or reactive power,i.e.kWh and/or kVARh,from or to the main grid to improve the power quality.According to the current state of charge of the EV’s battery bank,customers and the grid demands,a control center makes the decisions and sends the instructions of specific charging/discharging mode to each charging station.The performance of the proposed charging/discharging algorithm is simulated in Matlab.A comparison between the proposed and the unregulated charging/discharging strategies has been implemented.The results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can achieve better economic profits for EV customers and increase the commercial benefits for the car park owner.Tingting He Jianguo Zhu Jianwei Zhang Linfeng Zheng 2018Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering2018,4,2:1
8Spatiotemporal expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase 2 in the spinal cord during early stage sciatic nerve crush injury显示文摘BACKGROUND:Previous studies have shown that inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) and cyclooxygenase 2(COX-2) participate in inflammatory immune responses and neuropathic pain following peripheral nerve injury.However,few reports have addressed time-dependent expression of iNOS and COX-2 following peripheral nerve injury.OBJECTIVE:To investigate spatiotemporal expression of iNOS and COX-2 during early stage sciatic nerve crush injury.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:The randomized,controlled,animal experiment was performed at the Laboratory of Applied Anatomy,Department of Human Anatomy and Neurobiology,Central South University,China from September 2006 to September 2007.MATERIALS:Mouse anti-rat iNOS monoclonal antibody and goat anti-rat COX-2 monoclonal antibody(Transduction Laboratory,USA),as well as biotinylated rabbit anti-mouse IgG and biotinylated rabbit anti-goat IgG(Santa Cruz Biotechnology,USA) were used in the present study.METHODS:A total of 48 healthy,adult,Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to three groups.In the model group(n = 32),crush injury to the right sciatic nerve was established using an artery clamp.The model group was further assigned to four subgroups according to survival time(6,12,24,and 72 hours),respectively(n = 8).Sham surgery(n = 8) and normal control(n = 8) groups were also established.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:iNOS and COX-2 expression was detected in the L4-6 spinal cord with immunohistochemistry.Gray values of iNOS-and COX-2-postive cells in the anterior horn and posterior horn of spinal cord,as well as quantification of iNOS-and COX-2-positive cells in the anterior horn of spinal cord,were measured.RESULTS:iNOS and COX-2 expression gradually increased in the anterior horn and posterior horn of the spinal cord on the damaged side over time from 6 hours following sciatic nerve injury(P < 0.05) and peaked at 72 hours.Simultaneously,the number of iNOS-and COX-2-positive cells similarly increased in the anterior horn of spinal cord on the damaged side(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:iNOS and COX-2 expression increased in the spinal cord during early stage sciatic nerve crush,which suggested that iNOS and COX-2 participate in occurrence and development of inflammatory immune responses following peripheral nerve injury.Qiben Wang Linfeng Zheng Yinggui Xie Qinghong Huang He Huang Zhicheng Zeng Song Wu 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,10:0
9Changing profile of lung cancer clinical characteristics in China:Over 8-year population-based study显示文摘Background:Although examinations and therapies for bronchial lung cancer,also called lung cancer(LC),have become more effective and precise,the morbidity and mortality of LC remain high worldwide.Describing the changing profile of LC characteristics over time is indispensable.This study aimed to understand the changes in real-world settings of LC and its characteristics in China.Methods:In this study,119,785 patients were enrolled from 2012 to 2020 in the Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital.The patients’medical records were extracted from the hospital’s database.Demographic characteristics,general clinicopathological information,and blood coagulation indices at the initial diagnoses were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis,Nemenyi,chi-squared,and Bonferroni tests.Changes in demographic characteristics during the 8-year study period,namely dynamic changes among different stages and different pathological types,were evaluated.Results:The percentages of female(from 38.50%[323/839]in 2012 to 48.29%[5112/10,585]in 2020)and non-smoking LC(from 69.34%[475/685]to 80.48%[8055/10,009])patients increased significantly during the study period,with a trend toward a younger age at diagnosis(from 3.58%[30/839]to 8.99%[952/10,585]).Over the study period,the proportion and absolute number of lung adenocarcinoma cases increased(from 67.97%[433/637]to 76.31%[6606/8657])while the proportion of lung squamous cell carcinoma decreased(from 21.19%[135/637]to 12.08%[1046/8657]).Comprehensive driver gene mutation examination became more common,and epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)mutation occurred more frequently in female vs.male(62.03%[12793/20625]vs.29.90%[8207/27,447])and non-smoking vs.smoking(53.54%[17,203/32,134]vs.23.73%[3322/13,997])patients(both P<0.001).The distribution of the common driver genes differed among different stages of LC.EGFR mutation was detected most frequently at each stage,and other driver gene alterations were more common in advanced stages(P<0.001).The combination of chemotherapy,targeted ther-apy,and immunotherapy,as a comprehensive management regimen,gradually became predominant over the study period(P<0.001).A hypercoagulable state was shown in advanced-stage LC patients and patients with the anaplastic lymphoma kinase fusion,indicated by significantly elevated levels of d-dimer,fibrinogen,and fibrinogen degradation products.Conclusions:This study comprehensively depicted the changing characteristics of Chinese LC patients over an 8-year period to provide preliminary insights into LC treatment.Trial registration:ClinicalTrials.gov,NCT05423236.Kandi Xu Hao Wang Simin Li Lishu Zhao Xinyue Liu Yujin Liu Li Ye Xiaogang Liu Linfeng Li Yayi He 2023Chinese Medical Journal Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine2023,1,3:0

12RIPK3 promotes hantaviral replication by restricting JAK-STAT signaling without triggering necroptosis显示文摘Hantaan virus(HTNV)is a rodent-borne virus that causes hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome(HFRS),resulting in a high mortality rate of 15%.Interferons(IFNs)play a critical role in the anti-hantaviral immune response,and IFN pretreatment efficiently restricts HTNV infection by triggering the expression of a series of IFNstimulated genes(ISGs)through the Janus kinase-signal transducer and activator of transcription 1(JAK-STAT)pathway.However,the tremendous amount of IFNs produced during late infection could not restrain HTNV replication,and the mechanism remains unclear.Here,we demonstrated that receptor-interacting protein kinase 3(RIPK3),a crucial molecule that mediates necroptosis,was activated by HTNV and contributed to hantavirus evasion of IFN responses by inhibiting STAT1 phosphorylation.RNA-seq analysis revealed the upregulation of multiple cell death-related genes after HTNV infection,with RIPK3 identified as a key modulator of viral replication.RIPK3 ablation significantly enhanced ISGs expression and restrained HTNV replication,without affecting the expression of pattern recognition receptors(PRRs)or the production of type I IFNs.Conversely,exogenously expressed RIPK3 compromised the host's antiviral response and facilitated HTNV replication.RIPK3^(-/-)mice also maintained a robust ability to clear HTNV with enhanced innate immune responses.Mechanistically,we found that RIPK3 could bind STAT1 and inhibit STAT1 phosphorylation dependent on the protein kinase domain(PKD)of RIPK3 but not its kinase activity.Overall,these observations demonstrated a noncanonical function of RIPK3 during viral infection and have elucidated a novel host innate immunity evasion strategy utilized by HTNV.Yue Si Haijun Zhang Ziqing Zhou Xudong Zhu Yongheng Yang He Liu Liang Zhang Linfeng Cheng Kerong Wang Wei Ye Xin Lv Xijing Zhang Wugang Hou Gang Zhao Yingfeng Lei Fanglin Zhang Hongwei Ma 2023Virologica Sinica2023,38,5:0

17Fast processing nylon mesh by surface diffuse atmospheric plasma for large-area oil/water separation显示文摘In recent years,numerous studies have been reported for oil/water separation,such as superoleophilic materials for oil absorption and underwater superoleophobic membranes for continuous separation.However,for the recovery of oil slick pollution on near-shore ocean surface caused by various reasons,large area and fast availability of used materials are needed to be considered.Herein,we report an efficient and environmentally friendly method to fast process nylon mesh by surface diffuse atmospheric plasma(SDAP)for large-area oil/water separation.Nylon mesh is funcionalized by atmospheric plasma to generate micro/nano composite structures on the surface,resulting in superhydrophilicity and underwater superoleophobicity within only seconds.The pre-wetted modified nylon mesh can achieve high efficiency(>99.9%)and circulating water flux(~30,000 L·m^(-2)·h^(-1)),with high intrusion pressure(~3 kPa)and universality in oil/water separation.Regular plasma unconditionally generated in the atmosphere with the merit of efficiently functionalizing surface has the potential of large-area materials treatment.This study might take one step further for large-area industrial oily wastewater recovery and even oil slicks collection in near-shore water bodies.Linfeng Yang Yaping Feng Zengyi He Xinyan Jiang Xianfeng Luo Haoyu Dai Lei Jiang 2023Nano Research2023,16,7:0
18STING strengthens host anti-hantaviral immunity through an interferon-independent pathway显示文摘Hantaan virus(HTNV),the prototype virus of hantavirus,could escape innate immunity by restraining type I interferon(IFN)responses.It is largely unknown whether there existed other efficient anti-hantaviral tactics in host cells.Here,we demonstrate that the stimulator of interferon genes(STING)strengthens the host IFNindependent anti-hantaviral immunity.HTNV infection activates RIG-I through IRE1-XBP 1-mediated ER stress,which further facilitates the subcellular translocation and activation of STING.During this process,STING triggers cellular autophagy by interacting with Rab7A,thus restricting viral replication.To note,the anti-hantaviral effects of STING are independent of canonical IFN signaling.Additionally,neither application of the pharmacological antagonist nor the agonist targeting STING could improve the outcomes of nude mice post HTNV challenge in vivo.However,the administration of plasmids exogenously expressing the mutant C-terminal tail(ΔCTT)STING,which would not trigger the type I IFN responses,protected the nude mice from lethal HTNV infection.In summary,our research revealed a novel antiviral pathway through the RIG-I-STING-autophagy pathway,which offered novel therapeutic strategies against hantavirus infection.Kerong Wang Jian Zhang Yongheng Yang Yue Si Ziqing Zhou Xudong Zhu Sushan Wu He Liu Hui Zhang Liang Zhang Linfeng Cheng Wei Ye Xin Lv Yingfeng Lei Xijing Zhang Shilin Cheng Lixin Shen Fanglin Zhang Hongwei Ma 2023Virologica Sinica2023,38,4:0
