| 1 | Ecological stoichiometry of nitrogen, phosphorous, and sulfur in China's forests显示文摘Much attention has been paid to the stoichiometry of carbon(C), nitrogen(N), and phosphorus(P) because of their significance for plant growth and climate change. However, other nutrients, such as sulfur(S), are often ignored. In this study, we analyzed the stoichiometry of N, P, and S in leaves of 348 plant species in China's forests. The results show higher N content and higher molar ratios of N/P and P/S in Angiospermae than in Gymnospermae. At the family level, Ulmaceae absorbed more N and P from soils than other families, and Cupressaceae absorbed more S than other families. In addition,except for bamboo and other tropical forests, leaf N and P content of China's forests generally increased from low to middle latitudes and then slightly decreased or plateaued at high latitudes. | 2 | Characterization of Genome-Wide Microsatellites of Saccharina japonica Based on a Preliminary Assembly of Illumina Sequencing Reads显示文摘Microsatellites or simple sequence repeats(SSR) function widely and locate dependently in genome. However, their characteristics are often ignored due to the lack of genomic sequences of most species. Kelp(Saccharina japonica), a brown macroalga, is extensively cultured in China. In this study, the genome of S. japonica was surveyed using an Illumina sequencing platform, and its microsatellites were characterized. The preliminarily assembled genome was 469.4 Mb in size, with a scaffold N_(50) of 20529 bp. Among the 128370 identified microsatellites, 90671, 25726 and 11973 were found in intergenic regions, introns and exons, averaging 339.3, 178.8 and 205.4 microsatellites per Mb, respectively. These microsatellites distributed unevenly in S. japonica genome. Mononucleotide motifs were the most abundant in the genome, while trinucleotide ones were the most prevalent in exons. The microsatellite abundance decreased significantly with the increase of motif repeat numbers, and the microsatellites with a small number of repeats accounted for a higher proportion of the exons than those of the intergenic regions and introns. C/G-rich motifs were more common in exons than in intergenic regions and introns. These characteristics of microsatellites in S. japonica genome may associate with their functions, and ultimately their adaptation and evolution. Among the 120140 pairs of designed microsatellite primers, approximately 75% were predicted to be able to amplify S. japonica DNA. | 3 | Effect of reactor pressure on the growth rate and structural properties of GaN films显示文摘The effect of reactor pressure on the growth rate, surface morphology and crystalline quality of GaN films grown on sapphire by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition is studied. The results show that as the reactor pressure increases from 2500 to 20000 Pa, the GaN surface becomes rough and the growth rate of GaN films decreases. The rough surface morphology is associated with the initial high temperature GaN islands, which are large with low density due to low adatom surface diffusion under high reactor pressure. These islands prolong the occurrence of 2D growth mode and decrease the growth rate of GaN film. | 5 | Effects of land-use and climate change on sediment and nutrient retention in Guizhou,China显示文摘Introduction:Sediment and nutrient retention have significant impacts on agricultural productivity and water quality.Obvious changes of climate and land-use have deeply affected freshwater ecosystem services in the last several decades.Nevertheless,it is unclear what the differences are in the impact of climate and land-use changes on freshwater ecosystem services.Outcomes:The impacts of climate and land-use change on sediment and nutrient retention(two essential freshwater ecosystem services)were evaluated with the help of the Integrated Valuation of Environmental Services and Tradeoffs(InVEST)model.The results from the study area suggest a decreasing trend in sediment and nutrient retention from 1995 to 2015 when climate and land-use were changed simultaneously.A decreasing trend in sediment retention and an increasing trend in nutrient retention were presented under scenario A(climate change from 1995 to 2015 with land-use unchanged),while the sediment exported and nutrient retention exhibited a decreasing trend except sediment retained under scenario B(land-use change from 1995 to 2015 with unchanged climate).Rainfall erosivity and soil erodibility were more sensitive to the output of sediment retention,while retention efficiency produced more of an effect on nutrient retention.Discussion and Conclusion:Climate change played a dominant role in the change in sediment retention,while land-use change had a more significant effect on nutrient retention change than climate change.The results of this study provide explicitinformation for land-use managers to reduce the negative effects associated with sediment and nutrient retention. | Huiqing Han Jianqiang Yang Geng Ma Yue Liu Linan Zhang Siying Chen Shuliang Ma | 2020 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2020,6,1: | 1 |

| 8 | Effects of Plant Spacing,Row Spacing and Seedling Number Allocation on the Growth Dynamics of Different Populations of Two Types of Rice Varieties显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to construct high-yielding,high-quality,and high-light-efficiency population structures of different types of rice varieties.[Methods]The effects of plant spacing,row spacing and seedling number allocation on stems and tillers,leaf area and dynamic traits of high-yielding rice populations(more than 9750 kg/hm^(2))and low-yielding populations(less than 9750 kg/hm^(2))were studied by two kinds of representative rice varieties with different tiller ability and panicle sizes in cold regions.[Results]Decreasing the plant and row spacing and increasing the number of planted seedlings per hole advanced the heading date and made the number of stems and tillers in the population increase.The impact on the super rice variety with fewer tillers and heavier panicles was greater than that of conventional variety with more tillers and lighter panicles.The stems and tillers of the high-yielding high-quality populations grew steadily in the early stage of development,until an appropriate number of panicles was reached at the critical leaf age for productive tillers(June 25),and the peak seedlings should appear in the jointing stage(July 9)with a small number(that value of Longjing 21,the super rice variety with fewer tillers and heavier panicles,was about 1.2 times the expected panicle number,and that of the conventional variety with more tillers and lighter panicles,Kongyu 131,was about 1.1 times the expected panicle number).The populations gradually declined since then,until reaching an appropriate number of panicles at the heading stage.The high-yielding high-quality populations had a higher leaf area index at the heading stage.The value of Longjing 21,the super rice variety with fewer tiller and heavier panicles,reached about 6.0,and that of Kongyu 131,the conventional variety with more tillers and lighter panicles,reached about 4.5.The values decreased thereafter.At the maturation stage,the leaf area index of Longjing 21 remained above 2.5,and that of Kongyu 131 remained above 2.0.[Conclusions]This study has an important guiding role and significance for their high-yielding and high-quality supporting cultivation in cold regions. | Jingfang XUE Guangshan ZHAO Shuqiang CHEN Xiaodong DU Limin YANG Haixin ZHAO Yongsheng CAI Tong ZHOU Linan WANG Mingxu ZHOU | 2021 | Agricultural Biotechnology2021,10,2: | 1 |

| 10 | Effects of topography and vegetation on distribution of rare earth elements in calcareous soils显示文摘This study investigated the impact of topography and vegetation on distribution of rare earth elements(REEs)in calcareous soils using methods of single extraction and mass balance calculation. The purposes of the study were to set a basis for further research on the biogeochemical REE cycle and to provide references for soil–water conservation and REE-containing fertilizer amendments. The results show a generally flat Post-Archean Average Australian Shale—normalized REE pattern for the studied calcareous soils. REE enrichment varied widely. The proportion of acidsoluble phases of heavy REEs was higher than that of light REEs. From top to bottom of the studied hills, dominant REE sources transitioned from limestone in-situ weathering to input from REE-containing phases(e.g., clay minerals,amorphous iron, REE-containing fluids). | 11 | One-step gas-phase construction of carbon-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticle/carbon nanotube composite with enhanced electrochemical energy storage显示文摘Carbon nanotubes(CNTs)as superior support materials for functional nanoparticles(NPs)have been widely demonstrated.Nevertheless,the homogeneous loading of these NPs is still frustrated due to the inert surface of CNTs.In this work,a facile gas-phase pyrolysis strategy that the mixture of ferrocene and CNTs are confined in an isolated reactor with rising temperature is developed to fabricate a carbon-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticle/carbon nanotube(Fe3O4@C/CNT)composite.It is found the ultra-small Fe3O4 NPs(<10 nm)enclosed in a thin carbon layer are uniformly anchored on the surface of CNTs.These structural benefits result in the excellent lithium-ion storage performances of the Fe3O4@C/CNT composite.It delivers a stable reversible capacity of 861 mA·h·g^-1 at the current density of 100 mA·g^-1 after 100 cycles.The capacity retention reaches as high as 54.5%even at 6000 mA·g^-1.The kinetic analysis indicates that the featured structural modification improves the surface condition of the CNT matrix,and contributes to greatly decreased interface impendence and faster charge transfer.In addition,the post-morphology observation of the tested sample further confirms the robustness of the Fe3O4@C/CNT configuration. | Yun ZHAO Linan YANG Canliang MA | 2020 | Frontiers of Materials Science2020,14,2: | 1 |

| 17 | Experimental Study on Water Saving of Large-scale Mechanized Paddy Field Production Process in Heilongjiang Province显示文摘In order to clarify the water-saving technologies and standards in large-scale mechanized production of paddy fields, the water-saving effects and cost-benefit situations of paddy field steeping, seedling transplanting and different land preparation methods were studied. The results showed that the suitable water layer height for the closing period of mechanized operation was 10 cm, which could save water, facilitate weed control, and lead to better effect and the highest yield. The treatment with a water layer height of 1 cm(Huadashui) for the seedling planting operation achieved better quality of seedling transplanting, lower vacancy rate and higher yield and was water-saving. From the perspective of saving water and taking into account the cost of land preparation, the method of steeping and beating the field was better than the method of plowing in autumn and rotary tillage and harrowing in spring, but it was very prone to lodging. From the perspective of high yield creation, the method of plowing in autumn and rotary tillage and harrowing in spring was significantly better than the method of steeping and beating the field. | 20 | Recognition and Prediction of Source Rocks of the Madingo Formation in the Lower Congo Basin显示文摘We investigated the petrological and seismic properties of Madingo Formation, the highquality source rocks in the Madingo Formation in the Lower Congo Basin are highly heterogeneous. Due to little drilling and oil-based mud pollution, samples that are able to be used to measure the TOC(total organic carbon) content of source rock in the Madingo Formation are few and unevenly distributed;hence, it is difficult to carry out their quantitative evaluation. We investigated the petrological and seismic properties of Madingo Formation between TOC and well logging parameters including density, natural gamma, and acoustic time difference via multiple regression analysis. The TOC data volume is calculated using a neural network model between the predicted TOC content and seismic attributes of the sidetrack. The results of TOC three-dimensional quantitative prediction in the study area show that the source rocks in the Madingo Formation have a strong heterogeneity in the vertical direction, and the plane distribution is low in the northeast and high in the southwest.
