| 2 | Characteristics of authigenic pyrites in shallow core sediments in the Shenhu area of the northern South China Sea: Implications for a possible mud volcano environment显示文摘Distinct pyrites have been recovered from a shallow sediment core from Site 4B in the Shenhu area of the northern South China Sea. Based on the lithology, texture and structure of sediments, the stable sulfur isotope of pyrite and the total organic carbon (TOC) concentration of the sediments, a distinctive sediment interface is identified at a depth of about 1 m below the seafloor in the core sediments. The pyrites only accumulate in the lower part of the core as rods and foraminifera-infillings, and mainly within three intervals marked by high pyrite concentrations. The amount of pyrite in the sediments shows no remarkable correlation with TOC in the Site 4B core sediments. The stable sulfur isotopes of the pyrite have extremely negative values ranging from 41.69‰ to 49.16‰. They are considered to be the mutual product of sulfate bacterial reduction and sulfur bacterial disproportionation. Our research proposes that Site 4B might be located in or near a possible mud volcano sedimentary environment; a large amount of methane could migrate from deep to shallow sediments in an active mud volcano and thereby play a key role in the intensity of sulfate bacterial reduction and the amount of pyrite formed at Site 4B. | 3 | Downregulation of serum mi R-17 and mi R-106b levels in gastric cancer and benign gastric diseases显示文摘Altered micro RNA(mi RNA) associated with gastric cancer(GC) development and mi R-17 and mi R-106 b were differentially expressed in GC tissues. This study detected serum levels of mi R-17 and mi R-106 b expression in GC, benign gastric disease(BGD) and healthy controls to assess them as tumor markers for GC. Serum samples from 40 GC, 32 BGD(10 gastric ulcer, 14 gastric polyps, and 8 gastric ulcer with polyps) and 36 healthy individuals were subjected to quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(q RT-PCR) analysis of mi R-17 and mi R-106 b expression. The data showed that the serum levels of mi R-17 and mi R-106 b were significantly reduced in healthy individuals and BGD patients compared to GC patients. There was a significant association of mi R-17 and mi R-106 b expression with age, but not with other clinicopathological features, such as gender, tumor differentiation, stage and lymphatic metastasis. Further analysis showed that, in discriminating GC patients from healthy controls, mi R-17 could yield a receiver-operating characteristic(ROC) area under the curve(AUC) of 0.879 with 80.6% sensitivity and 87.5% specificity and mi R-106 b could yield an AUC of 0.856 with 75.0% sensitivity and 92.5% specificity. The combined AUC of mi R-17 and mi R-106 b was 0.913 with 83.3% sensitivity and 87.5% specificity. | 6 | Noninvasive Ultrasound Deep Brain Stimulation for the Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease Model Mouse显示文摘Modulating basal ganglia circuitry is of great signifcance in the improvement of motor function in Parkinson’s disease(PD).Here,for the frst time,we demonstrate that noninvasive ultrasound deep brain stimulation(UDBS)of the subthalamic nucleus(STN)or the globus pallidus(GP)improves motor behavior in a subacute mouse model of PD induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine(MPTP).Immunohistochemical c-Fos protein expression confrms that there is a relatively high level of c-Fos expression in the STN-UDBS and GP-UDBS group compared with sham group(both p<0.05).Furthermore,STN-UDBS or GPUDBS signifcantly increases the latency to fall in the rotarod test on day 9(p<0.05)and decreases the time spent climbing down a vertical rod in the pole test on day 12(p<0.05).Moreover,our results reveal that STN-UDBS or GP-UDBS protects the dopamine(DA)neurons from MPTP neurotoxicity by downregulating Bax(p<0.001),upregulating Bcl-2(p<0.01),blocking cytochrome c(Cyt C)release from mitochondria(p<0.05),and reducing cleaved-caspase 3 activity(p<0.01)in the ipsilateral substantia nigra(SN).Additionally,the safety of ultrasound stimulation is characterized by hematoxylin and eosin(HE)and Nissl staining;no hemorrhage or tissue damage is detected.Tese data demonstrate that UDBS enables modulation of STN or GP neural activity and leads to neuroprotection in PD mice,potentially serving as a noninvasive strategy for the clinical treatment of PD. | Hui Zhou Lili Niu Long Meng Zhengrong Lin Junjie Zou Xiangxiang Xia Xiaowei Huang Wei Zhou Tianyuan Bian Hairong Zheng | 2019 | Research2019,,1: | 9 |

| 8 | Diagnosis and surgical treatment of intraveneous leiomyomatosis extending into the heart:two cases report and review of the literature显示文摘Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics,diagnosis and surgical treatment of intravenous leiomyomatosis(IVL),and outline the differences between Chinese and overseas cases.Methods:Clinical data of two IVL cases,treated in our hospital,were analyzed retrospectively and the related literature was also reviewed.The data of preoperative diagnostic rate,surgical procedures,and postoperative recurrence between patients in China and other countries were compared.Results:The first stage operation was performed successfully in 2 patients.However,they refused subsequent therapies,including a second stage operation to excise the remnants of the tumor,uterus,bilateral oviducts and ovaries,and anti-estrogen therapy.Both suffered from IVL recurrence,one at 6-month and the other at 9-month,and died at 16-month and 12-month respectively after the first stage surgery.Worldwide reports of 110 IVL cases were reviewed,which included 28 cases in China and 82 cases in other countries.In the majority of the Chinese patients,tumors only extended into the right atrium rather than the right ventricle(RA 22 cases vs RV 4 cases).However,among the overseas patients,the rate of extension into the right atrium was similar to that of extension into the right ventricle(RA 41 cases vs RV 38 cases).The rate of hysterectomies was not significantly different between Chinese and overseas patients(67.86% vs 55.9%,P=0.278).The rate of correct preoperative diagnosis in the Chinese patients was significantly lower than that in the overseas patients(32.14% vs 80%,P=0.000002),as well as the rate of complete excision of the tumor(22.7% vs 75.5%,P=0.000001).The proportion of patients who undergoing a single-stage or a two-stage operation was similar in Chinese and overseas patients.The recurrence rate was significantly higher in the Chinese patients than in the overseas patients(36.8% vs 9.1%,P=0.0055),and the patients with tumor recurrence were partial tumor excision patients.Conclusion:The possibility of IVL should be considered if echocardiography in female patients demonstrates a tumor in the right heart and a mass in the inferior vena cava(IVC).Further imaging should be performed to confirm the diagnosis.The correct diagnosis and accurate preoperative delineation of tumor extension are essential for an optimal surgical outcome.The key point in IVL treatment is the complete excision of tumors(single-stage or two-stage surgical procedure). | Xiaowei Wang Lin Zhang Yijiang Chen Shijiang Zhang Jianwei Qin Yanhu Wu Jinhua Luo | 2009 | Journal of Nanjing Medical University2009,23,5: | 5 |
| 9 | Surface modification of LiNi_(1/3)Co_(1/3)Mn_(1/3)O_2 with Cr_2O_3 for lithium ion batteries显示文摘Cr 2 O 3-coated LiNi 1/3 Co 1/3 Mn 1/3 O 2 cathode materials were synthesized by a novel method. The structure and electrochemical properties of prepared cathode materials were measured using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), charge-discharge tests, cyclic voltammetry (CV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The measured results indicate that surface coating with 1.0 wt% Cr 2 O 3 does not affect the LiNi 1/3 Co 1/3 Mn 1/3 O 2 crystal structure (α-NaFeO 2 ) of the cathode material compared to the pristine material, the surfaces of LiNi 1/3 Co 1/3 Mn 1/3 O 2 samples are covered with Cr 2 O 3 well, and the LiNi 1/3 Co 1/3 Mn 1/3 O 2 material coated with Cr 2 O 3 has better electrochemical performance under a high cutoff voltage of 4.5 V. Moreover, at room temperature, the initial discharging capacity of LiNi 1/3 Co 1/3 Mn 1/3 O 2 material coated with 1.0 wt.% Cr 2 O 3 at 0.5C reaches 169 mAh·g 1 and the capacity retention is 83.1% after 30 cycles, while that of the bare LiNi 1/3 Co 1/3 Mn 1/3 O 2 is only 160.8 mAh·g 1 and 72.5%. | 10 | Efficient lung cancer-targeted drug delivery via a nanoparticle/MSC system显示文摘Low targeting efficiency limits the applications of nanoparticles in cancer therapy. The fact that mesenchymal stem cells(MSC) trapped in the lung after systemic infusion is a disadvantage for cell therapy purposes. Here, we utilized MSC as lung cancer-targeted drug delivery vehicles by loading nanoparticles(NP)with anti-cancer drug. MSC showed a higher drug intake capacity than fibroblasts. In addition, MSC showed predominant lung trapping in both rabbit and monkey. IR-780 dye, a fluorescent probe used to represent docetaxel(DTX) in NP, delivered via MSC accumulated in the lung. Both in vitro MSC/A549 cell experiments and in vivo MSC/lung cancer experiments validated the intercellular transportation of NP between MSC and cancer cells. In vivo assays showed that the MSC/NP/DTX drug delivery system exerted primary tumor inhibition efficiency similar to that of a NP/DTX drug system. | 13 | Enhancing rice grain production by manipulating the naturally evolved cis-regulatory element-containing inverted repeat sequence of OsREM20显示文摘Grain number per panicle(GNP)is an important agronomic trait that contributes to rice grain yield.Despite its importance in rice breeding,the molecular mechanism underlying GNP regulation remains largely unknown.In this study,we identified a previously unrecognized regulatory gene that controls GNP in rice,Oryza sativa REPRODUCTIVE MERISTEM 20(OsREM20),which encodes a B3 domain transcription factor.Through genetic analysis and transgenic validation we found that genetic variation in the CArG box-containing inverted repeat(IR)sequence of the OsREM20 promoter alters its expression level and contributes to GNP variation among rice varieties.Furthermore,we revealed that the IR sequence regulates OsREM20 expression by affecting the direct binding of OsMADS34 to the CArG box within the IR sequence.Interestingly,the divergent pOsREM20IR and pOsREM20ΔIR alleles were found to originate from different Oryza rufipogon accessions,and were independently inherited into the japonica and indica subspecies,respectively,during domestication.Importantly,we demonstrated that IR sequence variations in the OsREM20 promoter can be utilized for germplasm improvement through either genome editing or traditional breeding.Taken together,our study characterizes novel genetic variations responsible for GNP diversity in rice,reveals the underlying molecular mechanism in the regulation of agronomically important gene expression,and provides a promising strategy for improving rice production by manipulating the cis-regulatory element-containing IR sequence. | Xiaowei Wu Yan Liang Hengbin Gao Jiyao Wang Yan Zhao Lekai Hua Yundong Yuan Ahong Wang Xiaohui Zhang Jiafan Liu Jie Zhou Xiangbing Meng Dahan Zhang Shaoyang Lin Xuehui Huang Bin Han Jiayang Li Yonghong Wang | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,6: | 3 |
| 14 | Electrochemical properties of carbon-coated LiFePO_4 and LiFe_(0.98)Mn_(0.02)PO_4 cathode materials synthesized by solid-state reaction显示文摘Olivine structured LiFePO 4 /C (lithium iron phosphate) and Mn 2+ -doped LiFe 0.98 Mn 0.02 PO 4 /C powders were synthesized by the solid-state reaction. The effects of manganese partial substitution and different carbon content coating on the surface of LiFePO 4 were considered. The structures and electrochemical properties of the samples were measured by X-ray diffraction (XRD), cyclic voltammetry (CV), charge/discharge tests at different current densities, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The electrochemical properties of LiFePO 4 cathodes with x wt.% carbon coating (x= 3, 7, 11, 15) at =0.2C, 2C (1C= 170 mAh·g 1 ) between 2.5 and 4.3 V were investigated. The measured results mean that the LiFePO 4 with 7 wt.% carbon coating shows the best rate performance. The discharge capacity of LiFe 0.98 Mn 0.02 PO 4 /C composite is found to be 165 mAh·g 1 at a discharge rate, = 0.2C, and 105 mAh·g 1 at =2C, respectively. After 10 cycles, the discharge capacity has rarely fallen, while that of the pristine LiFePO 4 /C cathode is 150 mAh·g 1 and 98 mAh·g 1 at =0.2 and 2C, respectively. | 16 | Mesoporous TiO_2/Carbon Beads: One-Pot Preparation and Their Application in Visible-Light-Induced Photodegradation显示文摘Mesoporous Ti O2/Carbon beads have been prepared via a facile impregnation-carbonization approach, in which a porous anion-exchange resin and K2 Ti O(C2O4)2were used as hard carbon and titanium source, respectively.Characterization results reveal that the self-assembled composites have disordered mesostructure, uniform mesopores,large pore volumes, and high surface areas. The mesopore walls are composed of amorphous carbon, well-dispersed and confined anatase or rutile nanoparticles. Some anatase phase of Ti O2 was transformed to rutile phase via an increase of carbonization temperature or repeated impregnation of the resin with Ti O(C2O4)22-species. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen element analysis, and thermal gravity analysis results indicate the doping of carbon into the Ti O2 lattice and strong interaction between carbon and Ti O2 nanoparticles. A synergy effect by carbon and Ti O2 in the composites has been discussed herein on the degradation of methyl orange under visible light. The dye removal process involves adsorption of the dye from water by the mesopores in the composites, followed by photodegradation on the separated dye-loaded catalysts. | 18 | Electrochemical lithium ions pump for lithium recovery from brine by using a surface stability Al_(2)O_(3)–ZrO_(2 )coated LiMn_(2)O_(4) electrode显示文摘The rapid commercialization of lithium–ion batteries has caused significant expansion of the lithium demand.Electrochemical lithium ions pump is a promising technology because of its good selectivity and friendly environment.Herein,an Al_(2)O_(3)–ZrO_(2) film coating of the LiMn_(2)O_(4)(AlZr–LMO) electrode is prepared and operated for recovery of Li^(+)from brine.The Li^(+) maximum extraction capacity of AlZr–LMO reached 49.92 mg/g in one cycle.Compared with the solely LMO electrode,the AlZr–LMO demonstrated evident electrochemical stability and cycle life towards the Li^(+)recovery system.After 30 successive cycles,the extraction capacity for Li^(+)increased from 29.21%to 57.67%.The high cycle capacity of the material could be attributed to its low polarization,high active sites,and good chemical stability of the electrode surface owing to the synergy function of Al_(2)O_(3)–ZrO_(2)in the charging-discharging process.A dynamic model parameter identification method was performed to evaluate the active site of AlZr–LMO.This work may provide a way to design the AlZr–LMO electrode and develop a good method for the recovery of lithium from brine. | Guiling Luo Lin Zhu Xiaowei Li Guolang Zhou Jing Sun Linlin Chen Yanhong Chao Lei Jiang Wenshuai Zhu | 2022 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,6: | 2 |
