| 1 | Arg462Gln and Asp541Glu polymorphisms in ribonuclease L and prostate cancer risk:a meta-analysis显示文摘Objective:The association between ribonuclease L(RNASEL)gene polymorphisms and prostate cancer risk has been widely reported,but the results of these studies remained controversial and underpowered.We performed a meta-analysis of 28 studies to evaluate the association between Arg462Gln and Asp541Glu polymorphisms in the RNASEL gene and prostate cancer risk.Methods:Odds ratios(ORs)with 95%confidence intervals(CIs) were estimated to assess the association between RNASEL polymorphisms and prostate cancer risk.Results:A significantly increased prostate cancer risk was found for the Arg462Gln polymorphism in Africans(Gln/Gln vs Arg/Arg:OR=2.50,95%CI=1.28-4.87;Gln/Gln vs Gln/Arg+Arg/Arg:OR=2.54,95%CI=1.30-4.95),but not in Europeans and Asians.Additionally,the Asp541Glu polymorphism was associated with increased total prostate cancer risk(Glu-allele vs Asp-allele:OR=1.04,95%CI=1.01-1.07;Glu/Glu vs Asp/Asp:OR=1.22,95%CI= 1.03-1.46;Glu/Glu vs Glu/Asp+Asp/Asp:OR=1.09,95%CI=1.02-1.16).In the stratified analysis for the Asp541Glu polymorphism,there was a significantly increased prostate cancer risk in Africans and Europeans,and in hospital-based prostate cancer cases.Conclusion:The meta-analysis results showed evidence that RNASEL Arg462Gln and Asp541Glu polymorphisms are associated with prostate cancer risk and could be low-penetrance prostate cancer susceptibility biomarkers. | Yuanyuan Mi Qianqian Yu Zhichao Min Bin Xu Lifeng Zhang Wei Zhang Ninghan Feng L ixin Hua | 2010 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2010,24,5: | 2 |

| 8 | Pressure-induced Lifshitz transition in the type Ⅱ Dirac semimetal PtTe_2显示文摘Numerous exotic properties have been discovered in Dirac Semimetals(DSMs) and Weyl Semimetals(WSMs). In a given DSM/WSM, the Dirac/Weyl nodes usually coexist with other bulk states, making their respective contribution elusive. In this work, we distinguish the role of bulk states from the tilted Dirac nodes on the transport properties in DSMs. Specifically, we applied pressure to a type-II DSM material, PtTe2, and studied its pressure modified electronic and lattice structure systematically by using in situ transport measurements and X-ray diffraction(XRD). A pressure-induced transition at about 20 GPa is revealed in the transport properties, while the layered lattice structure is robust against pressure as illustrated in XRD measurement results.Density functional theory(DFT) calculations suggest that this is originated from the Lifshitz transition in the bulk states. | 15 | Outcomes of renal transplant recipients with BK virus infection and BK virus surveillance in the Auckland region from 2006 to 2012显示文摘AIM To evaluate incidence, risk factors and treatment outcome of BK polyomavirus nephropathy(BKVN) in a cohort of renal transplant recipients in the Auckland region without a formal BK polyomavirus(BKV) surveillance programme.METHODS A cohort of 226 patients who received their renal transplants from 2006 to 2012 was retrospectively reviewed.RESULTS Seventy-six recipients(33.6%) had a BK viral load(BKVL) test and 9 patients(3.9%) developed BKVN. Cold ischaemia time(HR = 1.18, 95%CI: 1.04-1.35) was found to be a risk factor for BKVN. Four recipients with BKVN had complete resolution of their BKV infection; 1 recipient had BKVL less than 625 copies/mL; 3 recipients had BKVL more than 1000 copies/mL and 1 had graft failure from BKVN. BKVN has a negative impact on graft function [median estimated glomerular filtration rate(eG FR) 22.5(IQR 18.5-53.0) mL /min per 1.73 m^2, P = 0.015), but no statistically significant difference(P = 0.374) in renal allograft function was found among negative BK viraemia group [median e GFR 60.0(IQR 48.5-74.2) mL /min per 1.73 m^2), positive BK viraemia without BKVN group [median eG FR 55.0(IQR 47.0-76.0) mL /min per 1.73 m^2] and unknown BKV status group [median eG FR 54.0(IQR 43.8-71.0) mL /min per 1.73 m^2]. The incidence and treatment outcomes of BKVN were similar to some centres with BKV surveillance programmes.CONCLUSION Recipients with BVKN have poorer graft function.
