Protection of Cactus Polysaccharide against H_2O_2-induced damage in the rat cerebral cortex and hippocampus Differences in time of administration显示文摘BACKGROUND: Pharmacological research has shown that cactus polysaccharide (CP) has anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-aging, and immune-stimulating activities. It may also provide protective effects against oxidative stress injuries in the rat brain. OBJECTIVE: To validate the effects of CP on H2O2-induced oxidative stress injuries in the rat cerebral cortex and hippocampal slices 30 minutes prior to injury, as well as 30 minutes and 2.5 hours after injury. DESIGN: A randomized controlled experiment. SETTINGS: Department of Pharmacology, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Department of Pharmacology, College of Medical Science, Yangtze University. MATERIALS: A total of 50 male Sprague Dawley (SD) rats, normal grade and weighing 200-300 g, were provided by the Laboratory Animal Center of Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The protocol was performed in accordance with ethical guidelines for the use and care of ani- mals. Cactus polysaccharide, a dried needle crystal, was extracted from Opuntia milpa alta at the Chemistry and Environment Engineering School of Yangtze University. The following chemicals and instruments were used: 2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (Sigma, St Louis, Missouri, USA); lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH), and total antioxidant competence (T-AOC) assays (Ji- ancheng-Bioeng Institute, Nanjing); McIllwain tissue chopper (Mickle Laboratory Engineering, USA); and ELISA reader and Magellan software (TECAN, Austria). METHODS: This experiment was performed at the Department of Pharmacology, Medical College of Yangtze University, between March and June 2006. All rats were sacrificed after anesthesia. The cerebral cortex and hippocampus were dissected. Several cerebral cortex and hippocampus slices were selected as controls, while other sections were co-incubated with H2O2 for 30 minutes to induce an oxidative stress in- jury. The experimental slices were randomly divided into 3 groups: model group, low-dose group, and high-dose group. Slices from the low- and high-dose group were incubated with CP 30 minutes prior to in- jury, as well as 30 minutes and 2.5 hours after injury. The number of cerebral cortex and hippocampus slices at each time point was greater than 10 and 7, respectively. The control group slices were incubated with arti- ficial cerebrospinal fluid (aCSF) for 3 hours. The model group slices were incubated with aCSF for 30 min- utes, followed by 30 minutes of aCSF with H2O2 incubation to establish the oxidative stress injury model. Thereafter, the slices were re-incubated with aCSF for 2 hours. The slices in the low- and high-dose group were co-incubated with 0.33 mg/L CP or 1.67 mg/L CP, respectively. CP was applied either for 30 minutes prior to the H2O2 treatment, co-incubated with H2O2 for 30 minutes, or applied 2 hours after H2O2 treatment. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Brain slice activity was determined by TTC staining. Biochemical markers, such as LDH, SOD, GSH, and T-AOC, were analyzed in clear supernatant liquid to study the phar- macological mechanisms. RESULTS: ① Effects of CP on H2O2-injured brain slices: TTC absorption level at 490 nm decreased with a 30-minute CP administration before and after injury. The TTC absorption values in the low- and high-dose group were significantly lower than the control group (P < 0.05-0.01). CP administration prior to insult had greater neuroprotective effects on brain slices than administration during the insult. CP Administration after insult had no obvious protective effects on the brain slices. There was no significant difference in TTC ab sorption levels between administration after 2.5 hours and the model group (P > 0.05). ② Effects of CP on substances released from H2O2-induced injury slices were as follows: following incubation with 2 mmol/L H2O2 for 30 minutes, LDH release was significantly increased from the rat cortical and hippocampal brain slices. T-AOC and GSH were decreased, which is in accordance with the TTC assay for evaluating the de- gree of slice injury. Prior administration of 0.33 mg/L CP and 1.67 mg/L CP decreased LDH release andenhanced T-AOC and GSH release in a dose-dependent manner. After H2O2-induced damage for 30 minutes, the release of SOD increased to some extent. SOD levels were further raised by preincubation with 0.33 mg/L CP or 1.67 mg/L CP, compared to the model group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: CP can protect rat cerebral cortex and hippocampal slices from H2O2-induced injury. This protective effect is dosedependent. CP administration before injury is more effective than during or after injury. | Xianju Huang Qin Li Lianjun Guo Zankai Yan | 2008 | Neural Regeneration Research2008,3,1: | 13
Porous N-doped Ni@SiO_(2)/graphene network: Three-dimensional hierarchical architecture for strong and broad electromagnetic wave absorption显示文摘Electromagnetic wave absorber is critical for reducing increasingly serious electromagnetic wave pollu-tion,however,the development of lightweight and broadband microwave absorbers remains a pressing challenge. We report here the rational design and synthesis of N-doped Ni@SiO_(2)/graphene composite con-structed from 3D interconnected porous graphene network and Ni@SiO_(2) core-shell architecture, which fulfills lightweight and broadband requirements while exhibiting highly efficient electromagnetic wave absorption. The porous graphene network, functioning both as lightweight support and dielectric medi-ator,was synthesized via NaCl template-assisted high-temperature calcination method.Upon uniformly attached with core-shell Ni@SiO_(2) on the surface, the resulting abundant heterogeneous interfaces con-structed by graphene-Ni and Ni-SiO_(2) strongly reinforce polarization loss. The presence of low dielectric SiO_(2) allows facile tuning of the complex permittivity of ternary composite by adjusting coating thick-ness to balance the attenuation ability and impedance matching. Moreover, further N-doping of graphene assists in the optimization of dielectric loss ability.Taking account of the advantages arising from the porous hierarchical architecture, multiple absorption centers and diverse interfaces, the lightweight com-posite exhibits an ultra-strong reflection loss(RL)value of-71.13 dB at 13.76 GHz with a thickness of 2.46 mm and broad effective absorption bandwidth of 7.04 GHz at a low filler content of 15 wt.%.More importantly, the effective absorption range covers 13.28 GHz(4.72-18 GHz)with the optimized thickness of 1.6-5 mm,representing 83%of the whole range of frequencies. Our results demonstrate that the novel 3D porous N-doped Ni@SiO_(2)/graphene network with hierarchical architecture is a promising candidate for high-performance electromagnetic wave absorption. | Rui Guo Qi Zheng Lianjun Wang Yuchi Fan Wan Jiang | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,11: | 3
Enhanced TE properties of Cu@Ag/Bi2Te3 nanocomposites by decoupling electrical and thermal properties显示文摘Cu@Ag/Bi2Te3 nanocomposites were prepared for the first time by ultrasonic dispersion-rapid freezedrying method combined with spark plasma sintering(SPS).By changing the content of Cu@Ag nanoparticle,we could modulate the temperature dependent thermoelectric properties. The highest ZT value can be obtained at 450 K for 1 vol%Cu@Ag/Bi2Te3,which is benefited from the decoupling of electrical and thermal properties. With the increase of electrical conductivity, the absolute value of Seebeck coefficient lifts while the thermal conductivity declines.Meanwhile, the average ZT value between 300 K and 475 K was 0.61 for 1 vol%Cu@Ag/Bi2Te3,which is much higher than that of pristine Bi2 Te3.Therefore,the decoupling effect of Cu@Ag nanoparticles incorporation could be a promising method to broaden the application of Bi2Te3 based thermoelectric materials. | Xiaofang Lu Qi Zheng Shijia Gu Rui Guo Li Su Jiancheng Wang Zhenxing Zhou Yuchi Fan Wan Jiang Lianjun Wang | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,3: | 1

Spatial-temporal Characteristics of Green Development Efficiency and Influencing Factors in Restricted Development Zones:A Case Study of Jilin Province,China显示文摘Green development is an important issue of sustainable development in China.Due to the relatively backward economy and the fragile ecological environment, restricted development zones need to embrace green development.Taking 38 counties in Jilin Province as the empirical research objects, and based on cross-sectional data for each county in 2005,2010,and 2015,we accurately depicted the spatiotemporal evolutionary characteristics of green development efficiency(GDE)in restricted development zones of Jilin Province using the slacks-based measure-data envelope analysis(SBM-DEA)model.Moreover,the factors that influence GDE were further analyzed using the Tobit model. We found that:first,GDE showed a V-shaped trend in restricted development zones of Jilin Province. The differences in GDE in the eastern, central, and western Jilin Province increased gradually.Second,76%of counties in the restricted development zones had high or higher efficiencies. The resource-based cities were the main areas with low or lower GDE.Third, the economic development level was the core factor affecting GDE.Urbanization level had a significant negative effect on GDE in the restricted development zones. The effect of technological innovation level on GDE fluctuated, and we found that a‘backward mechanism’of technological innovation was beginning to form.Industrial structure and environmental governance had no significant effects on GDE. | LI Ping TONG Lianjun GUO Yanhua GUO Fuyou | 2020 | Chinese Geographical Science2020,30,4: | 0
Spatio-temporal Differentiation and Driving Factors of Industrial Ecology of Restricted Development Zone from Adaptive Perspective:A Case Study of Shandong,China显示文摘Based on the adaptive analysis paradigm, this paper constructs an evaluation index system and an evaluation model of the level of industrial ecology of a restricted development zone from the perspective of the industrial system and of the environmental system, and studies the spatial-temporal differentiation characteristics and the driving factors of the level of industrial ecology of the restricted development zone of the Shandong Province,China,by using a variety of measurement methods. The results show that:1)In the temporal dimension, the level of industrial ecology of the research area increased from 2005 to 2017,while in the regional dimension,it was higher in the eastern coastal areas, followed by the northwestern area and the southwestern area;2)In the spatial dimension, from 2005 to 2017 the level of industrial ecology of the research area had a clear spatial dependence, and the regional spatial agglomeration of the restricted development zones with similar industrial ecology levels become increasingly evident;3)On the whole, the industrial ecology level in the study area had a clear spatial differentiation pattern,as it was higher in the north and in the east and lower in the south and in the west. Moreover, its evolution model changed from a‘three-core driven model’to a‘spatial scattered mosaic distribution model’,and then to a‘single-core driven model’;4)Industrial ecology was positively correlated with economic development, foreign investment, science and technology, and negatively correlated with the government role, while industrial structure and environmental regulation failed to pass the statistical significance test. | GUO Fuyou GAO Siqi TONG Lianjun QIU Fangdao YAN Hengzhou | 2021 | Chinese Geographical Science2021,31,2: | 0
